Issa pushes ahead with Holder contempt vote despite Obama intervention

Rep. Darrell Issa pressed ahead with a committee vote Wednesday to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress, despite an 11th-hour move by President Obama to exert executive privilege over the Fast and Furious documents at the heart of the dispute.

The announcement instantly touched off a caustic debate on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, as Democrats accused Issa of prosecuting a “political witch hunt” and Republicans stepped up their criticism of Holder’s “stonewalling” over the Fast and Furious probe. Even for Washington, the tone at the hearing was decidedly bitter and accusatory.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was first informed of the president’s decision to exert executive privilege in a letter Wednesday morning, shortly before the contempt vote was scheduled.

Issa said committee staff are evaluating the letter but described the move as too little, too late as he and other GOP lawmakers questioned the basis for the assertion.

“This untimely assertion by the Justice Department falls short of any reason to delay today’s proceedings,” Issa said.

Representative Issa and the majority of the House should not be held hostage by the socialist regime and their party spin of having a witch hunt. How about get to the truth and everyone wins. You do not issue an order to hide records unless you have something to hide.

God bless Issa. The illegal alien must be removed and Holder will be gone also. Peace,

Every Friday at 6 pm the churches are praying for our country.
We need to pray for Issa and all of the congress for God to give them the right vote.
Obama is taking our county down with debt and putting in his people.
Hitler did the same thing and the German people trusted Hitler until it was to late.

    Dear Editor,
God bless California’s Rep. Darrell Issa for having the courage to finally take Attorney General Holder to task regarding “Fast and Furious”. Holder and Obama have a long record of looking the other way on many issues. The next presidential election will give us a choice. Approve of Obama doing everything he can to destroy America economically or elect someone else whose parents did not hate America. The choice is simple. Please name one thing which Obama has done to help our economy? Don’t include those things that have backfired and set back even further!

There is something to hide, and it will implicate Obama..Obama, weekly has something new and bold. Illegal immigration for 1. I am sick and tired of the teflon finish on him. Come on.

  • Gee, what a suprise, obama hiding documents agian? Why don’t his supporters see this fraud for what he is, this move by obama brings himself into the mix, he must think we fear him and won’t prosecute him. I think this will be the straw that breaks the camals back. He now has a whole laundry list of impeachable offenses. Go get him Issa, you have the support of a vast majority of Americans who are sick of seeing congress piss in our faces.
