Liz Cheney: Dad’s wrong, Palin more qualified than Obama & Biden combined

This past week, former Vice President Dick Cheney suggested that Sarah Palin was not qualified for the vice presidency and that John McCain had not properly vetted her.  His daughter, Liz Cheney, disagreed publicly by issuing this tweet:

Here’s more on what Dick Cheney said and his daughter’s reaction here:

Former Vice President Dick Cheney told ABC‘s Jonathan Karl Sunday that Senator John McCain’s decision to pick Sarah Palin as his running mate in 2008 was a “mistake,” and one that Mitt Romney can’t repeat.

“I like Governor Palin. I’ve met her. I know her. She – attractive candidate. But based on her background, she’d only been governor for, what, two years. I don’t think she passed that test…of being ready to take over. And I think that was a mistake,” Cheney explained.

But now, Liz Cheney– who many respect as a conservative mind independent of her father’s former position– has amicably announced that she disagrees with her father’s position.

“Rarely do I disagree with best VP ever but @SarahPalinUSA more qualified than Obama and Biden combined. Huge respect 4 all she’s done 4 GOP,” Liz Cheney wrote.

And this isn‘t the first time Liz Cheney has come to Palin’s defense:

I have to agree with Liz Cheney. The American people have been bullied and brainwashed by mainstream media and political elites with lies and distortions regarding Palin. Palin is exactly the kind of conservative we need for effective change to occur in Washington.

    • SammysDad

She is now, but then,I’m not sure.

    • don

Liz Cheney is correct. Notice that the democrat-obama drone interrupted Liz. Biden’s history and incompetence in congress shows him to be a totally worthless vice president. Why the hell would dick cheney make a stupid statement that the democrats could use as another one of their distractions? Why would he do it now? McCain is a rino and should never have been a presidential candidate! Rinos hate conservatives as much as democrats, because they want to keep their good-old-boy status, etc.

    • Flippy McSkippy

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

      Oh wait, you’re serious.

  • reggiec

What Dick Cheney meant was that because Palin had only been a governor for two years was that the corporate loving establishment GOP had not hadenough time to corrupt her yet. He is wrong in that respect also. I think Palin is a true Conservative and would not have joined the good old boys club.

    • WVF

reggiec, you summed it up in your last sentence why Governor Sarah Palin was eviscerated by the media–the good ole boys! I am a conservative male, and I hope I live long enough to see Sarah Palin as the first female president of the United States.

      • AZconserv

Agree. I hope the same. She gave us hope that maybe things would change for the GOOD! The good ole boys wouldn’t support her. I hope we see her as first female Pres. some day.

        • WVF

AZconserv, you and I are in complete agreement!  Me and my family were fortunate enough to see her in person at the Tea Party event in Searchlight, NV in March of 2010.  She was awesome!
          Wendell

    • AZconserv

Correct! Sarah Palin won’t bow to the establishment that is why they won’t support her! They are afraid of her. She wouldn’t support their CRAP!

  • rjschundlr

Saying that Sarah Palin is better that Obama and Biden is not saying much, Obama and Biden have not real world experience. And Obama isn’t even willing to let the world review his college records. We know more about Palin who isn’t the President than we do about Obama who is. That said, I like Sarah but I do not think now is the time for her to run again. We need her else where

    • sonny

Sarah Palin is more than qualified for the presidency BUT stupid America would re-elect obama if Palin was to run and Sarah Palin know that. She loves her country too much let the idiots of this country re-elect obama.

  • Marty

Liz got it right. There has been no room for Conservative voices in the Republican National Committee (RNC) since the end of the Reagan Era. They must have our vote but no voice and support for elected positions. Hence we get losers and spineless compromisers who work to advance the Progressive agenda.

We can thank Bush 41 who set about immediately to stack the RNC and Admin. infrastructure with Progressives to have what he called “a kinder and gentler America.” If you have not noticed, since Reagan, Establishment Republicans and Democrats govern similarly.

    • PatriotDiva

Yes and Bush 41’s ugly wife made the snarky comment about Palin, that she was glad Palin went back to Alaska after the ’08 election. She said “I think she should stay there.” I remember turning to my husband saying, “Well she’s not only ugly, but a “b%^&*” too!” Palin has endured the worst kind of treatment from the left and the RINO’s. I wouldn’t blame the woman if she flipped them all off, but she is much more classy than that.

  • I agree with Liz Cheney, Palin was qualified and would have made a great VP. McCain was too wishy wishy for my taste, even tho I voted for him, he did not assert himself as a future POTUS.
Any VP candidate Romney picks as his running mate he will need to do a DNA on her and make sure she or he is squeaky clean or he will lose the election.

    • sonny

“Squeaky clean” does not matter b/c the libs are going to fabricate stuff anyway.

    • SpudPicker

McCain got my vote, but it was really a vote against Obama! Obama scared me more than McCain enthused me.
The best scenario–McCain wins and retires leaving the position to his VP!

      • Peoriaboy

McCain even though I voted for him realized that Palin should of been the one running for President as McCain just didn’t want to go after obemer and for a man that spent five years as a prisoner of war sure cowed down to ombre so they must of broke him as a POW

  • Thomas McCarthy

RINOs like Cheney are only in touch with how they are perceived by the other party. Sarah Palin is deeply in touch with America and how America is taking a nose dive into Hell.

  • bruce1369

After this disgrace, maybe the libs were right, after all, about Dick Cheney.

    • speedle

This was not a “disgrace”. It was an opinion, and one doesn’t have to be a democrat or a leftist to agree with it. Roll back your horns and save it for the general election.

      • bruce1369

Anytime one of your own knifes you in the back, it is a disgrace. Perhaps a little solidarity is too much to ask?

        • speedle

Exactly, Dick Cheney is a conservative Republican who is of the opinion that in 2008 Palin was not the best VP pick. So maybe a little “support” for the right of a differing opinion by a fellow conservative is in order. he wasn’t attacking Palin – just stating a fact as he saw it. Do you think we can stand a little healthy discussion or do we lock step like sheep? Cheney was simply asking the GOP (Romney) to pick a running mate that makes sense.

  • WVF

    You betcha!

  • daveveselenak

I can’t argue against the truth!

  • wisewoman

Liz – Thank You for sticking up for Palen. I’m so sick of people blasting her. Sarah was asked to step up to the plate & she gave it everything she had & at the last minute. The lies by her own staff, the manipulation by the Wallaces. Nicole Wallace bought all those clothes & never owned up to it. Davis brought in Sarah because she was ‘electrifying’ & was she ever! Schmidt hired Andrew Smith & he had no political experience. Tucker Eskew was hired by N. Wallace & he had no political experience. Then the mistakes they made were heaped upon Sarah. The bullying attacks on her family are unconscionable to this day. I’m so sick of hearing it no matter who it comes from. Give the woman a break.
I read a great deal-both by people who support Sarah & are against her. I’ve quoted from books written by both camps.

  • SpudPicker

God bless you for saying so, Liz! Sarah Palin was the most qualified person running back in 2008, and she is smarter and more qualified (not to mention Constitutionally illegible) than the current pretender in the WH today.

  • tim1

Thank you Liz. Gov. Palin has more experience than the current President or anyone in his czardom. He is not acting as a president, he is acting like a dictator with all his mandates. Unfortunately, the left is truly blinded by the bright lights of Hollywood in their effort to turn the country into the godless Sodom they love.

  • To attack Sarah Palin, like the Liberal Leftists did (within both Parties) was an indicator of how far this ‘at one time’ Great Nation, has fallen. The USA is setting itself up for Judgement. The ‘cleansing’, learning form history, will NOT be pretty. Every nation that digresses from morality and decency gets Judged. They All without fail, bring it upon themselves.

Famous remark in quote: “If God was satisfied with the behavior of his people, he would Not have allowed….Genghis Khan to Become UNLEASHED”… Genghis Khan.

  • CSN

LIz is obviously her own person…quite independent of her Father, who is a Elitist Shill for the OWG Scheme. Sarah was duped into accepting the VP slot next to a OWG Jerk.

  • Salvatore A Apicelli, Texas

Liz is absolutely right. The real mistake was selecting John McCain as the Republican candidate. Just take a look at what happened.

  • marineh2ominer

Great job Liz , I agree completely I like your dad as I am a conservative too , but in this case he was wrong . I share your dads birthday , 30 January , as also with communist Franklin Roosevelt

  • concernedcitizen

As opposed to all of obama’s experience. Two years a govenor is so much more than obama had to offer.

  • PatriotDiva

My thoughts exactly Liz! Obama is the least qualified president I have seen in years. He did not even finish a full senate term. He only served about 144 days of that term. He has never run a company or met a payroll. He worked once for a short time at a private law firm and said that he felt he was working behind enemy lines. At least Sarah Palin completed two years as governor of Alaska. She and her husband run two successful businesses.

  • ALsue1

she alot smarter then what we have.

  • Sorry Ms. Cheney….you wouldn’t be able to judge that from her track record here in Alaska. ‘Nuf said.
