The Neo-pagan Jihad of a “Oneist” Culture [+video]

Scott Brown YoutubeRecently some fifty prominent British atheists sent a letter to the London Telegraph protesting the Prime Minister referring to England as a “Christian” nation. Oddly, the infamous Oxford professor and world-renowned atheist, author of “The God Delusion”, Richard Dawkin’s name was absent.

Apparently he is now describing himself as a “secular Christian”. He stated at the 2014 Hay Festival that while he was not spiritual, he longed for the traditions and nostalgia of the church!

But sadly in most of Europe and across the Atlantic there continues to be a mass exodus from the nostalgia and traditions of the church. Instead of describing themselves as secular anything, millions are now claiming to be spiritual but not religious! This is the new mantra. Secularism is on the way out. Spirituality is in!

But what kind of spirituality is this? In August 2009 Newsweek Magazine featured an article “We Are All Hindus Now”. The author cites a poll that reveals that 65 percent of Americans believe that many religions can lead to eternal life, including 37 percent of white evangelicals, the group most likely to believe that salvation is theirs alone.

Goodbye secular humanism. Hello Oneism!

There are many threats in the world today from ISIS to Ebola, from Iran to the shredding of our Constitution by a rogue president! But none so pervasive as “Oneism”. It’s never mentioned in the news. Not talked about in churches or over the dinner table. But the most formable enemy is lurking right at our door! Even at the door of the church!

So what is it? I call it the “Neo-Pagan Jihad”. And you thought only Muslims could have jihad. Oneism is pagan cosmology.

Here’s how it goes courtesy of Dr. Peter Jones of The Truth Exchange.

All is one: everything is divine. There is no external god but spirituality is in ourselves and in the universe around us.

Humanity is one: Everyone shares in the divine power. If we all unite, we can bring the world to a new level of happiness and peace.

All Religions are one: Each religion has some of the truth. If we bring them all together, we will discover real spirituality.

Oneism seeks to erase all distinctions that keep us from true unity. This is where the big rub with a Biblical cosmology comes in. God has made distinctions: Creator/creation; male/female; human/animal and so forth. Do you see where I am going?

If you look at the major breakdowns in our culture you will find the blurring of distinctions. Gender-neutral is just the tip of the iceberg! It goes all the way down to the equality of plants and humans in environmentalism gone mad! (See “The War On Humans” at Fellowship Of The Minds)

A Biblical cosmology embraces “Twoism”.

All is two: There are two kinds of reality: God and creation. God is eternal, triune, personable, loving and awesome. He made everything that exists.

Humanity is Two: There are two kinds of people: those who are for God and those who are against him. There is no neutral ground.

All Religions are Two: Spirituality means worship and service. We worship and serve either God or something created.

But is this new? There is nothing new under the sun as Solomon said and Oneism has been baking in the sun since the first bite of an apple.

The Apostle Paul recognized it in his day. In Romans chapter one he spells it out.

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, 25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. Romans 1: 18-27

The wrath of God is revealed from heaven because the truth men know about God is being suppressed, leading to ungodliness and unrighteousness! God receives no honor or thanksgiving!

There are three basic exchanges that are made and they are not good exchanges!

1) The exchange of the glory of the immortal God for images.
2) The exchange of truth about God for a lie.
3) The exchange of the natural for the unnatural.

Again take a look at our culture and you will see every breakdown involves one or more of these exchanges. These bad exchanges are the blurring of distinctions! What’s wrong is right and what’s right is wrong. Relativism. Tolerance trumps truth. All guilt is removed, no judging allowed.

So now we have homosexual churches and pastors, Christian Yoga (Hinduism’s sneaky evangelistic program), contemplative prayer, trance worship, and emergent churches that have emerged right out of a true generous orthodoxy! Add this to many evangelicals who view the Bible as mythology or a legalistic set of rules to earn their way to heaven! A 2015 poll showed that 64% of evangelical millenials support same-sex marriages! (Taken from the Gay site Freedomtomarry.org who’s mantra is “Love Must Win”) Where have we heard that phrase before?

Many major churches and ministries are backing away from the issue. I’m embarrassed to mention them! I guess love without truth must win? (1 Cor. 13: 6)

It’s all exchange. The Gospel for the “not so gospel exchange” even in our holy sanctuaries! But then moral relativism screams, “Judge not lest ye be judged”.

The physical, intellectual and spiritual truths are all being suppressed by the spirit of the age! And God turned them over to what? Read it!

While oneism worships and serves the creation as divine, twoism worships and serves the eternal, personal creator of all things! While oneism eliminates all distinctions, twoism proclaims that God alone is divine and is distinct from his creation, yet through his Son Jesus, he is in loving communion with it! He is transforming redeemed lives to their original design for real glory!
