Couple Wed 75 Years Among California Wildfire Victims

Sara and Charles Rippey lived together for much of their century-long lives.

She was 98; he was 100.

They met almost 90 years ago, as grade-schoolers in Hartford, Wis., the New York Times reported. They married in 1942, and had just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary with all five of their children in March.

But on Sunday night, they died together in their house in Napa, Calif., when a wind-whipped wildfire engulfed the property, causing the roof to cave in and the windows to explode, leaving the couple trapped inside. (Read more from “Couple Wed 75 Years Among California Wildfire Victims” HERE)
