Vance Says UFOs Could Be ‘Angels or Demons,’ Hints at Spiritual Forces
Vice President J.D. Vance has sparked fresh intrigue after suggesting that UFO sightings might not just be extraterrestrial—but spiritual. In a wide-ranging and surprisingly candid conversation on the “Pod Force One” podcast with the New York Post’s Miranda Devine, Vance speculated that unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) could be evidence of unseen “spiritual forces working on the physical world.”
“I’m a big believer that there are things out there that we can’t explain,” Vance said. “If another person sees an alien, maybe I see an angel or a demon.” He added, “There are spiritual forces working on the physical world that a lot of us don’t see and don’t understand.”
When pressed on whether he believes in alien life, Vance didn’t commit either way. “Is it aliens or is it our guardian angel? Or is it aliens or is it a not-so-guardian force that doesn’t care about us—or in fact actively wishes us harm? I don’t know the answer,” he admitted. “What I try to do is say my prayers, be as good of a person as I can, and do a good job. Hopefully, that’s all I need to do.”
Vance’s comments came as part of a lighthearted yet earnest exchange with Devine, who jokingly called herself a “mad UFO-lunatic.” The vice president laughed and agreed—“me too”—but noted he hasn’t had time to fully investigate the topic since taking office. “I’ll get to the bottom of this,” he promised, though acknowledging “it’ll take a long time.”
The discussion comes amid renewed attention on UAPs in Washington. In recent months, several lawmakers—including Florida Democrat Rep. Jared Moskowitz—have accused the government of covering up its knowledge of UFOs. “It’s politically convenient for the government if you all weren’t military folks in suits,” Moskowitz said during a House Oversight hearing in September, referencing veterans who testified about encounters with mysterious aerial objects.
Vance also mentioned that Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a longtime advocate for UFO transparency, shares his curiosity. “There’s certainly an interest there,” Vance said. “This is the crazy person inside me. All of us put the tinfoil hat on from time to time.”
The vice president’s fascination with UFOs isn’t new. Back in August, he told the “Ruthless Podcast” that he was “obsessed with the whole UFO thing,” adding, “What’s actually going on? What were those videos all about? What’s actually happening?”
