NYT Falsely States That 900,000 U.S. Children Have Been Hospitalized From COVID

The New York Times was forced to issue multiple, major corrections for an article published on Wednesday that falsely claimed 900,000 children had been hospitalized for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

The full correction reads:

An earlier version of this article incorrectly described actions taken by regulators in Sweden and Denmark. They have halted use of the Moderna vaccine in children; they have not begun offering single doses. The article also misstated the number of Covid hospitalizations in U.S. children. It is more than 63,000 from August 2020 to October 2021, not 900,000 since the beginning of the pandemic. In addition, the article misstated the timing of an F.D.A. meeting on authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children. It is later this month, not next week.

The headline and subhead still mention single-dose vaccines for children, but that only refers to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

And while the Times article discusses how other countries are trying to balance the risks of vaccinating children, it notes that the U.S. is doing things differently. One infectious diseases physician told the outlet that “We’ve had a significant impact on our pediatric population.” This is when the Times originally claimed 900,000 children had been hospitalized during the pandemic. The article now says 63,000 children were hospitalized between August 2020 and October 2021. It also states that 520 children have died due to COVID-19, without noting how small a fraction that is compared to the hundreds of thousands of adults who have died during the pandemic or noting the low likelihood children have of getting COVID.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Won’t Enforce Vaccine Mandate

The Los Angeles County sheriff says he will not enforce the county’s vaccine mandate in his agency.

Sheriff Alex Villanueva, who oversees the largest sheriff’s department in the county with roughly 18,000 employees, said Thursday in a Facebook Live event that he does not plan to carry out the county’s mandate, under which Los Angeles County employees had to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 1.

The mandate was issued by executive order in August and allows only for religious and medical exemptions. Villanueva said his employees are willing to be terminated rather than get vaccinated.

“I don’t want to be in a position to lose 5, 10% of my workforce overnight on a vaccine mandate,” the sheriff said. (Read more from “Los Angeles County Sheriff Won’t Enforce Vaccine Mandate” HERE)

White House Defends Biden’s ‘Renewed’ Cough

The White House said Friday that President Joe Biden’s renewed cough is the result of “allergies.”

“He’s doing great. He’s got some allergies,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said as she left the daily press briefing and a reporter shouted a question about the president’s health.

Biden appeared twice in front of reporters on Friday, speaking with a raspy voice, repeatedly clearing his throat, coughing, and wiping his nose. (Read more from “White House Defends Biden’s ‘Renewed’ Cough” HERE)

Ill-Advised? Biden Brags About Pressuring Hospital To Fast-Track ‘Good Friend’ in ER

President Joe Biden said Thursday he personally reached out to a hospital the night before to ensure the wife of his “good friend” received immediate care because the “waiting room was so crowded.”

“Last night, I was on the telephone with a person at an emergency hospital ward in Pennsylvania because a good friend had called, and he had rushed his significant other to the emergency room because this woman was having trouble breathing, had a high fever, and could not catch her breath,” Biden said during a speech in Illinois promoting COVID-19 vaccine mandates for businesses. “They got her into the hospital. The waiting room was so crowded, things were so backed up they couldn’t even get her to be seen initially. So, because I knew this person, I called. I called the desk receiving nurse and asked what the situation was.”

“To make long story short, it took a while because all of the – not all – the vast majority of the emergency rooms and docs were occupied taking care of COVID patients,” Biden added. “I bet every one of you can name somebody who got sent to the hospital with something other than COVID and couldn’t get it taken care of.”

Biden said that he “wasn’t complaining” when he made the phone call because doctors and nurses working in overcrowded hospitals are “getting the living hell kicked out of them, sometimes physically.” (Read more from “Ill-Advised? Google, YouTube To Prohibit Ads From Content That Questions Global Warming

Google and YouTube announced that they will take measures to strip online content of revenue producing opportunities if they express skepticism about global warming.

In a statement from Google’s ad team on Thursday, the massive online company said they would deny ad revenue from content that contradicts “well-established scientific consensus around the existence and causes of climate change.”

Google says the new policy is in response to advertisers expressing frustration that their ads are appearing on content they disagree with.

“Advertisers simply don’t want their ads to appear next to this content,” the company said. “And publishers and creators don’t want ads promoting these claims to appear on their pages or videos.” (Read more from “Google, YouTube To Prohibit Ads From Content That Questions Global Warming” HERE)

Trump To Use Executive Privilege to Block Jan. 6 Subpoenas

Former President Donald Trump will use executive privilege to block subpoenas from the House committee investigating the storming of the U.S. Capitol building, a new report says.

The subpoenas, issued Sept. 23, have a Thursday deadline to comply or face “criminal referrals.” Trump will instead invoke executive privilege, a power he retains over events that occurred during his administration despite leaving office, to protect a handful of former aides from divulging information about Jan. 6, Grant Stinchfield from Newsmax reported Wednesday.

“He is going to invoke executive privilege, and that means that people like Chief of Staff Mark Meadows; Dan Scavino, a top adviser; and Kash Patel, another top adviser, will not be able to comply with these subpoenas coming from the Jan. 6 commission,” Stinchfield said. “This is what you get with President Trump. You get a man who fights back. That’s what we love about President Trump, and he’s sticking it to these people trying to go after him.”

Trump lawyer Patrick Philbin, a former deputy White House counsel, is expected to tell the men not to comply with the subpoenas because doing so would hinder the president’s right to confidential information they gave to him during his administration, the host added. Congressman Demands Facebook Release Research on Instagram’s Impact on Child Exploitation

Colorado Republican Rep. Ken Buck demanded Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg hand over research into Instagram’s effects on teen users in a letter sent Thursday and obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Leaked documents published by The Wall Street Journal in September detailed some of Facebook’s research into how its image-sharing platform Instagram affects the mental health of teen girls, including how the platform can exacerbate suicidal tendencies and contribute to eating disorders. The research showed, among other things, that Instagram contributed much more to negative mental health than other social media platforms.

Buck, who serves as Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee’s antitrust subcommittee, urged Zuckerberg to release all of Facebook’s research into Instagram’s effects on teen mental health, requesting information on how the platform contributes to eating disorders, anxiety, depression, suicidal tendencies and other mental health issues.

“Your company’s hypocrisy and immense apathy toward the detrimental impacts Instagram has on children’s wellbeing is astounding,” Buck wrote.

Buck also requested internal company studies on how Instagram’s algorithms promote overly sexualized portrayals of minors. Facebook removed 1.4 million pieces of content in the second quarter of 2021 it deemed to be sexually exploiting children, according to its transparency reports. Facebook ‘Whistleblower’ Worked for Unit That Censored Hunter Laptop Story

Facebook “whistleblower” Frances Haugen – who urged members of Congress this week to force the social-media giant to increase its policing of “misinformation” – worked for a unit at Facebook that censored the New York Post’s blockbuster Hunter Biden laptop stories last fall.

Haugen testified this week that the Facebook’s “civic integrity” unit was established for the 2020 election to combat “misinformation” and wound down when Biden won, Breitbart News reported.

A poll indicated the “laptop story” – which was about evidence that Joe Biden and his family cashed in on his position as vice president in business deals that potentially compromised national security – affected the outcome of the election.

The White House still insists that despite further confirmation that the messages on the laptop are authentic, the claims amount to “Russian disinformation.” A new book by a Politico reporter confirmed the authenticity of a 2017 email regarding a deal with Communist Party-tied CEFC Chinese Energy stating 10% of the profits were to be held “for the big guy.” The “big guy” was identified as Joe Biden last October by former Hunter Biden business partner Tony Bobulinski. U.S. Charges Former Taliban Commander With Killing American Troops

Former Taliban commander Haji Najibullah is facing terrorism-related charges for actions in Afghanistan from about 2007 to 2009 that resulted in the deaths of three U.S. Army soldiers.

“Najibullah, who allegedly served as a Taliban commander in 2007 and 2008, is charged with numerous terrorism offenses relating to attacks against the U.S. military in Afghanistan, including an attack that killed three U.S. servicemembers, and others relating to taking an American journalist hostage in Afghanistan,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Mark J. Lesko in a press release Thursday. “He will now be held accountable in an American courtroom.”

Court documents reveal the 45-year-old Afghan national was previously charged in a 2008 kidnapping of an American journalist, with the new indictment charging him with attacks on a U.S. military convoy that resulted in the deaths of three U.S. Army soldiers and their Afghan interpreter in June of 2008.

Najibullah is also charged with an October attack that same year in which a U.S. military helicopter was shot down. (Read more from “U.S. Charges Former Taliban Commander With Killing American Troops” HERE)

Alleged School Shooter in Texas Released From Jail on Bond Day After Shooting Multiple People

An 18-year-old high school student in Texas who is accused of gunning down multiple people at his school has been released from jail on bail.

“The student accused of injuring four people in a shooting at Timberview High School in Arlington on Wednesday was released on bail from the Tarrant County Jail on Thursday,” The Star Telegram reported, adding that the suspect was charged “with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.”

Due to company policy, The Daily Wire does not name or show pictures of mass shooters and alleged mass shooters.

The suspect had been transferred from Arlington jail to the Tarrant County facility before being released after posting a $75,000 bond. Video posted online showed the suspect being released.

The alleged school shooter, who is a black male, turned himself into law enforcement hours after the shooting, which sent multiple people to the hospital. (Read more from “Alleged School Shooter in Texas Released From Jail on Bond Day After Shooting Multiple People” HERE)
