A Documentary Film Treatment
A BRIEF HISTORY
Guns; they’ve been an integral part of the fabric of America since even before 1776. Since their invention, guns have always been fundamental to the establishment of new nations, the sustenance of men and women, and the protection of lives, homes and property. When the Pilgrims fled tyranny and came to America they brought their families, their Bibles and their guns. With these, they helped to establish a nation built upon Biblical freedoms.
After the American Revolution, the leaders of the nation wrote a document, our Constitution, that guaranteed the protection of the Rights of the People “to keep and bear arms,” stating that that right “shall not be infringed,” with one express purpose. To make sure that the people of our new nation never had to fear tyrannical governments again, giving them the ability to always defend themselves.
THE PROBLEM
Yet one of the most pressing and hot-button legislative issues of the day is the topic of gun control. Although it isn’t a new debate, after the most recent mass shootings in Aurora, CO and Newtown, CT, laws regulating gun ownership and
Presidential executive orders restricting the Second Amendment have again risen to the forefront of American politics. These regulations, bans and laws are meant to “protect” American citizens from further threats of gun violence, but there are some questions that need to be asked.
Statistically speaking, the restriction of guns and gun ownership does not make people safer. Look at Australia; after the gun bans imposed there, armed robberies went up 69%, assaults with guns have gone up 28%, gun murders have gone up 19% and home invasions are up 21%. It seems as though gun control hasn’t succeeded there. In our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., the government enacted a gun ban in 1976. “The D.C. gun ban… prohibited anyone other than law-enforcement officers from carrying a firearm in the city. Residents were even barred from keeping guns in their homes for self-defense.1” After this ban was enacted, violent crime escalated more than 200% between 1976 and 1993. This appears to show fairly conclusively that the regulation and restriction of guns doesn’t work… especially when you compare these numbers with the statistics of a nation like Switzerland. Violent crime there is almost non-existent, with 40 gun-related homicides in 2010, as opposed to the 11,078 gun murders in the U.S.) “Although there is more per capita firepower in Switzerland than any place in the world, it is one of the safest places to be.
To the delight of Americans who support the right to keep and bear arms, Switzerland is the proof in the pudding of the argument that guns don’t cause crime.”
So the question needs to be asked. If gun control is meant to keep us safe, why hasn’t it worked? And if gun control works, shouldn’t the violent crime rates, and those specifically relating to guns, plunge? It seems that our lawmakers are intelligent enough to understand these statistics. So why don’t they?
In 1938, the Nazi regime enacted The German Weapons Act. These were some of the stipulations.
• All citizens who wished to purchase firearms had to register with the Nazi officials and have a background check
• It gave Nazis unrestricted power to decide what kinds of firearms could, or could not be owned by private persons.
• The types of ammunition that were legal were subject to control by bureaucrats.
Sound familiar? President Obama’s gun control plan includes each and every one of these measures, and then some. His executive orders and new laws aren’t meant to reduce gun violence; the gun-control legislation is about just that… control. He’s already shown himself to be a Socialist, so it should be of no surprise that he wants to take our guns. Why? Because when you disarm a citizenry, you’ve left them defenseless and without protection against tyranny. We believe that behind the President’s movement is an agenda; an agenda to disarm and enslave the American people.
THE CALL TO ACTION
This film is meant to expose that agenda, studying conclusively the motives for gun control in America, and taking a hard look at the Second Amendment, with interviews with experts in the fields of Law & Government, and experts in the gun control debate, showing that many of our legislators don’t have our safety in mind; they simply want control. And what better way to get it than to take our guns? As stated above, the Second Amendment was put in the Constitution to
guarantee Americans the right to keep and bear arms for the “protection of a Free State.” The Founding Fathers understood the concept of tyranny better than almost any others in American History. And so they should. They had lived through it, fought against it, bled because of it, and died to root it out. They wanted to secure the freedom for which they had spent themselves, for their posterity. Since 1776, generations of Americans have fought to continue to protect these freedoms, and until now, we’ve successfully defended them.
The legacy left to us continues to be one of the greatest and most crucial parts of the fabric of a free America. So when a government comes to take our freedoms, they come to destroy that legacy. We will not give up our guns, we will not give up our rights, and we will not give up our freedoms. But we as Americans have a responsibility to defend them against the onslaught of tyranny in the land, and this film will motivate viewers in some of the most fundamental ways that we can protect the freedoms that we have been blessed with.
We will encourage the viewers to become involved politically in the issue of gun control. As Edmund Burke said, “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” We cannot look at the breakdown of our freedoms, and simply sit back, thinking that others will fight against tyrannies. We must think, fight and vote according to our principles, and our principles must be in line with the Constitution of the United States- the highest government in the land.
We will also urge people to purchase guns. While small, it is still a step towards advancing the reconstruction of freedom in the area of gun control. There is nothing that the Left wants less than for Americans to mobilize by voting Constitutionally, and for freedom loving Americans to keep themselves prepared by purchasing and owning firearms. And finally, the only way that we can continue to win the fight is by teaching and training the next generation in these principles. We cannot expect that there will be true change, unless the legacy of freedom continues to grow, and continues to be passed down to the next generation. This is a fight that we must win, but it can only win if we teach freedom to those that will come after us.
And as Charlton Heston said… “From my cold dead hands.”

Target Audience
There are several demographics within our target audience. We want to challenge those who have at least a minimal understanding that we as Americans have a fundamental Constitutional and moral right to bear arms. The groups that we
are targeting are as follows:
1. People that believe in the 2nd amendment, but also believe that some laws that regulate firearms and gun ownership are permissible, as long as Americans are still allowed to freely purchase and own guns.
2. For those who see an erosion of the 2nd amendment but don’t know what to
do to stop that erosion.
3. Those who are beginning to be persuaded to an anti gun view by the media, or current events, such as mass shootings,
murders, accidental gun deaths etc.
What Will Make This Film Timely?
Gun control is in the news almost every day. The news media presents a bias against guns and works at trying to convince people to agree with them. Targeted will combat the ideology that says taking away the rights of gun owners will protect people, and reveal that instead, gun control is an agenda; an agenda about control.
What Will Make This Film Strong
Targeted will be substantiated by statistics, interviews with constitution experts, law enforcement, historians, leaders in the gun control debate, as well as showcasing the stories of real life Americans that have saved lives by having a gun. The film will have very tangible action steps for viewers to do to save not just the 2nd amendments but the entire constitution as well.
Mobilization
This film will have several pieces of the mobilization effort for our viewers to act upon, in order to uphold and fight for the liberties that we have been blessed with, and that are under attack. Through the course of this film, we will encourage people to not only talk about freedom, but to mobilize, act and engage in the battle for our freedom. There are very attainable and tangible actions that they can take to keep and fight for our liberty, freedom and the Constitution.
1. Purchase a gun.
While this is a small thing to do, it will still make a difference to purchase a gun, as this is really the antithesis of what those opposed to firearms want us to do.
2. Become a member of, and actively support the NAGR, GOA, your local and state gun organizations.
By becoming a member of a gun organization that is actively involved in non compromising efforts to keep our right to bear arms.
3. Seek out and support your public ofcials that hold to the liberties of America.
In order to keep our freedoms, we must do diligence in studying and researching political candidates that desire to uphold the law of our land, the Constitution and working to elect them in whatever ways possible.
4. Train and teach the next generation about our Constitution, freedom and liberties.
Read and understand the documents that gave us the liberties and freedoms that the US has had since it’s inception. Read true history, and shun those who would desire to revise and change the truth about America.
Working Mobilization into the Film
1. As the story of the film unfolds, questions will be asked of the viewer about the viewers involvement with the issues and the solutions.
2. All of the mobilization will be presented as a part of the solution, giving the viewer the ability to see them as attainable.
3. At some strategic locations around the country we will have film hosts with sign ups at the the showings, and a challenge that will correspond with the mobilization solutions presented in the film. This will allow people to be actively involved in the efforts, and will help to jumpstart the solutions. This can be an ongoing effort.

Final Statement
It is the desire of Wintons Motion Pictures to produce a compelling film that will impact American citizens, and help them to see that our current Administration, as well as anti-gun groups, have a very clear agenda in desiring to take away our Second Amendment right to bear arms. Not only will we expose that agenda for what it truly is, but we will give clear answers to help combat the tyranny in our government, and to combat those who wish to take away our right to bear arms.
