Democratic Leader: Billion-Dollar Clinton Campaign Should ‘Frighten’ Americans

Gary HartGary Hart has serious reservations about a Hillary Clinton candidacy.

The prospect of a billion-dollar Clinton campaign “ought to frighten every American,” he said in an interview with POLITICO, and Democrats would be better served by a competitive primary that forced her to speak in more depth about the issues.

Hart, a two-time Democratic presidential candidate, offered his opinions in a phone interview Wednesday where he also expressed admiration of Elizabeth Warren and gave advice to prospective challenger Martin O’Malley, a former Hart campaign staffer.

“I like Hillary Clinton. I really appreciate what she and her husband have done, but we need new leaders,” said Hart, a former Colorado senator who rose from the bottom of the polls and nearly took down Walter Mondale in the 1984 primaries.

The post-Citizens United campaign finance environment has sullied the presidential process, he said, benefiting establishment politicians who cater to financial backers. He pointed to his own experience, noting that he and his wife mortgaged their home for between $50,000 and $75,000 — an amount that made a significant difference in his first campaign in 1984. ‘You’re Kidding?’ Obama’s Statement on Kenya Killings Omitted One Crucial Fact [+video]

obamawhitehouse-ap_4By Michael Dorstewitzs. Somalian al-Shabaab militants chose Holy Week to cross the border into Kenya to wage a brutal attack specifically targeting Christians — but you would never know that from the American president . . .

On the day of the massacre, the White House issued a statement condemning the militants but neglected to indicate the reason al-Shabaab raided the university — to kill Christians.

[Listen to Walid Shoebat explain how Obama’s catastrophic policies regarding Islam and the Middle East are driving us toward apocalypse]

It’s as though President Obama believes that when Islamic terrorists attack Christians or Jews, religion is never a factor. The statement read:

Michelle and I join the American people in expressing our horror and sadness at the reports coming out of Garissa, Kenya. Words cannot adequately condemn the terrorist atrocities that took place at Garissa University College, where innocent men and women were brazenly and brutally massacred. We join the world in mourning them, many of whom were students pursuing an education in the pursuit of a better life for themselves and their loved ones. They represented a brighter future for a region that has seen too much violence for far too long. We also commend the heroism of the responders who lost their lives in the selfless protection of the students and faculty.

I know firsthand the extraordinary resilience and fundamental decency of the people of Kenya. So I know that the people of Garissa and all of Kenya will grieve, but their determination to achieve a better and more secure future will not be deterred. And neither will the resolve of the United States. We will stand hand-in-hand with the Kenyan Government and people against the scourge of terrorism and in their efforts to bring communities together. This much is clear: the future of Kenya will not be defined by violence and terror; it will be shaped by young people like those at Garissa University College – by their talents, their hopes, and their achievements. This is a message I will relay to the Kenyan people when I visit Kenya in July. Even at this difficult hour, the Kenyan people should know they have an unwavering friend and ally in the United States of America.

Nearly 150 Dead in Al-Shabaab School Attack, Kenyan Officials Say

By Fox News. A security operation is over and 147 people have been killed in an attack Thursday by Al Qaeda-linked terror group Al-Shabaab on a Kenyan college, officials said.

The officials said four attackers were killed during the operation.

The siege on Garissa University also left dozens more injured and hundreds of students unaccounted for.

Hours after the assault began, Kenyan security forces cornered the gunmen in a dormitory at the school, and President Uhuru Kenyatta said in a speech to the nation that the attackers were holding hostages.

“There are many dead bodies of Christians inside the building,” Al-Shabaab spokesman Sheikh Abdiasis Abu Musab told Sky News. “We are also holding many Christians alive. Fighting still goes on inside the college.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Governor Issues Executive Order Imposing Draconian Fines for Long Showers

By Pam Key. Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA) said Californians will face heavy fines for taking long showers.

Brown said, “This executive order is done under emergency power. It has the force of law. Very unusual. It’s requiring action and changes in behavior from the Oregon border all the way to the Mexican border. It affects lawns. It affects people’s — how long they stay in the shower. How businesses use water.”

Brown said to enforce his order, “Each water district that actually delivers waters — water to homes and businesses, they carry it out. We have a state water board that overseas the relationships with the districts. Hundreds of them. If they don’t comply, people can be fined $500 a day. Districts can go to court to get a cease and desist order. The enforcement mechanism is powerful. In a drought of this magnitude, you have to change that behavior and you have to change it substantially.” (Read more from “Governor Jerry Brown to Levy Draconian Fines for Long Showers” HERE)

California’s Wealthy Lagging in Water Conservation

By Frank Shyong, Hailey Branson-Potts and Matt Stevens. There are few signs of California’s epic drought along a stretch of Maple Drive in Beverly Hills.

Deep green front lawns stretch out, dotted with healthy trees and sculpted foliage. The only brown lawn in sight was at a home under construction.

As California gears up for the first mandatory water restrictions in its history, a long-standing class divide about water use is becoming increasingly apparent.

Beverly Hills and other affluent cities use far more water per capita than less-wealthy communities, prompting some to cast them as villains in California’s water conservation effort. (Read more from this story HERE)

CBS News: Iran’s DEATH TO AMERICA Chants Meaningless; Middle East Expert Strongly Disagrees [+video]

barack-obama-wallpapersA televised report on CBS News Saturday morning included ludicrous pro-Obama administration spin by London-based correspondent Elizabeth Palmer on reaction to the nuclear framework deal with Iran that downplayed the continued chants by Iranians of “death to America.”

Palmer spoke over video footage of a large crowd at a Tehran mosque.

“At Friday prayers there was the usual chant of ‘death to America’, but more habit than conviction. The sermon by Senior Ayatollah Kashani made it clear that Iran’s leaders support this deal. “I congratulate those who led the talks,” he said. “Great job.”

[Listen to this Middle East expert tear apart the theory that Iran means the US no harm]

Palmer emphasized the phrase ‘more habit’ to make it sound more convincing.

Palmer made her report from CBS’ London bureau, not from Tehran. The idea that chants of ‘death to America’ aren’t to be taken seriously is Obama administration spin. (Read more from “CBS News: Iran’s Death to America Chants ‘more Habit, than Conviction’” HERE)

Watch: Pentagon Training Video Depicts Male Boss Groping Male Employee

FAA085000007A Pentagon training video attempts to show how domestic and civilian employees should deal with a boss who gropes them.

A video made by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI), which offers education and training for military active duty, reservists, and civilians, shows a male employee having to deal with his boss Miguel who is “too close for comfort.”

The head of the DEOMI, Army Col. Morris “Reese” Turner, was reassigned and put under investigation late last year for “inappropriate touching,” according to Military Times.

“I’ve worked with Miguel for about two months now,” the employee says, as images of the boss doing his best Joe Biden impression, massaging the employee’s shoulders, rubbing his belly, grabbing his cheeks, and running his hands through his hair..

“By all accounts he’s a great boss,” he said. “Just a little touchy feely for my liking. Listen I don’t have space issues but I don’t believe you have to touch me to talk to me. You can get my attention without grabbing me.” (Read more from “Watch: Pentagon Training Video Depicts Groping Boss” HERE)

A Veteran Commits Suicide Every 65 Minutes: Paws4Warriors Attempts To Provide Relief [+video]

Paws4Warriors4-PRINTHow many of these soldiers could be assisted by forming a bond with their own service dog? Common sense and multiple studies show service animals have a tremendously positive impact on the recovery and happiness of those individuals in need. Service dogs are now even provided for many prisoners, yet soldiers are denied service dogs en masse upon their return.

Labpups.com and Paws4Warriors.org have now teamed up to offer some immediate relief for many of those veterans that have been denied service dogs by the Administration.

Buried deep in the woods, and yet in city limits, Labpups.com has multiple lineages of non-hyper Family Labradors that have been three decades in the making. They also have a ten acre farm, complete with state of the art kennels, horseback riding, three houses consisting of 11 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and a full garden.

Veteran Dominic Davila, after being severely injured by an IED under his Humvee, spent years in the hospital, recovering from loss of limb, TBI and other complications caused by the sudden detonation. Dominic knows only too well what his own service dog meant to him during the dark hours of recovery.

Wanting to give a hand up to fellow soldiers, he has founded Paws4Warriors, a non-profit (status applied for) organization located in Charlotte, NC in order to facilitate raising and matching service Labradors with wounded veterans.

The farm will provide temporary shelter for many veterans, allowing them to stay and participate in the training of their own Labradors, while volunteering to clean kennels and participate in activities such as horseback riding, gardening, or just talking around the fire pit.

While Labpups.com will donate everything possible to this ambitious program, including their lineages, training, and some land, Paws4Warriors has a need for immediate funding for handicap access ramps, buying out the mortgage, supplies for Labradors and veterans, and a host of other items. They have started an Indiegogo campaign, to commence on April 6th at 2:30 pm Eastern time, and are attempting to raise enough funds to take the over the entire farm within the next 40 days. They need your help.

Paws4Warriors can’t spill the beans yet on the first approved recipient, but that in itself will be another amazing story.

IRS Deadline Extended for ObamaCare Customers Sent the Wrong Tax Form

0728_tax-you-owe-irs-lien_300x300ObamaCare customers who received the wrong tax form from the federal government this spring will not face penalties if they miss the April 15 deadline, officials announced Friday.

Anyone who have not yet been sent corrected tax forms and are “unable to file an accurate tax return” now have until Oct. 15 to file — as long as they request an extension.

The government did not say how many people will be given extra time, though officials said in late March that 80,000 people were still waiting on their corrected tax forms. A total of 800,000 people had mailed the wrong forms.

“If a taxpayer receives their Form 1095-A before April 15 and is able to file using the form before the deadline, they should do so,” according to a statement from the Treasury Department released late Friday.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicare Services (CMS), which is overseeing the rollout of ObamaCare, has acknowledged that it has taken more time than expected to mail the proper forms. (Read more from “IRS Deadline Extended for ObamaCare Customers Sent the Wrong Tax Form” HERE)

Husband Says He Can’t Afford His Wife as a Stay-At-Home Mom and His Reasoning Adds Up. Big Time.

Steven Nelms has been married to wife, Gloriana — Glory for short — for three years. Together they have a two-year-old son named Ezra.

When Steven and Glory got married, Glory worked while Steven finished up school. Once their son was born, it didn’t seem financially possible for Glory to go back to work. Nelms explains to IJReview:

“With childcare costs it would’ve been a wash with her income at best. So we decided that she would stay home as long as it made sense.”

In an attempt to appreciate all of the work Glory does for the family — and put a numerical value on it — Nelms wrote a profound essay that he posted to We Are Glory.

“I’ve had this thought in my head for a while now. I’ve been thinking that I can’t afford for my wife to be a Stay-At-Home Mom. Now, I don’t at all mean to offend anyone with this post. I just have to say that for me personally, I can’t afford it… I mean that I quite literally cannot afford my wife to be staying at home. Here’s why…

My wife stays home and takes care of our son every single day. She changes his diapers, feeds him, plays with him, puts him down for his nap, and comforts him when he’s upset. And that’s just the bare minimum. A child can typically get that attention at a day-care. But on top of that, he is her only focus… Obviously, this is part of being a parent. You take care of your child and you raise your child. But let’s face it. In our day and age… there is a company ready and willing to do just about anything. So while, yes, my wife is my son’s mother and it is a natural result of being a parent to love and care for your own child, there is also a very quantifiable dollar amount that can be attributed to the services rendered. I am in no way trying to simplify, objectify, or devalue the priceless love of a mother for her child. But let’s be real. Pay day feels good for a reason. Because you’re seeing your hard work appreciated in a tangible way that lets you “treat yo self”. And this is exactly why I can’t afford my wife being a Stay-At-Home Mom. The national average weekly salary for a full-time nanny is $705. That’s $36,660 a year.

We make ends meet comfortably and are by no means scraping the bottom of the barrel… [but] the services rendered of caring for our child every single day of the year would absorb the majority of our income. Flat out, no question, game over, I cannot afford my wife to be a Stay-At-Home Mom. And that’s just the beginning of it.

Rand Paul Strays from Libertarian Roots as He Courts GOP Base

Rand PaulWhen the presidential buzz began building around Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) a couple of years ago, the expectation was that his libertarian ideas could make him the most unusual and intriguing voice among the major contenders in the 2016 field.

But now, as he prepares to make his formal announcement Tuesday, Paul is a candidate who has turned fuzzy, having trimmed his positions and rhetoric so much that it’s unclear what kind of Republican he will present himself as when he takes the stage.

“He’s going to get his moment in the sun,” said David Adams, who served as campaign chairman for Paul’s insurgent 2010 Senate campaign. “What he does with it from there will have bearing on the Republican Party.”

There are at least two areas where Paul has moved more in line with the conservative Republican base, somewhat to the consternation of the purists in the libertarian movement: adopting a more muscular posture on defense and foreign policy, and courting the religious right.

Where he once pledged to sharply cut the Pentagon’s budget, for instance, Paul late last month proposed a $190 billion increase over the next two years — albeit one that would be paid for by cutting foreign aid and other government programs. His tour following the announcement of his candidacy will include an event at Patriots Point in South Carolina’s Charleston Harbor, with the World War II-era aircraft carrier USS Yorktown as a backdrop. Libya Rejects U.S.-Led Offensive Against Islamic State, But Wants American Dollars

Libya_c0-90-3400-2071_s561x327Libya’s top diplomat in Washington wants aggressive U.S. support in containing the Islamic State’s rise in her nation but strongly rejects the idea of an American-led bombing or ground offensive, saying it would just make things worse.

In an acknowledgment of how poorly some in the region see the U.S.-led campaign against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, the charge d’affairs of the Libyan Embassy in Washington said replicating that strategy in Libya would likely draw more foreign fighters into the nation.

“We don’t want Libya to become a land for the jihadists from all over,” said Wafa Bugaighis, who told reporters during a roundtable discussion that there are already more than 5,000 fighters on Libyan soil aligned with the Islamic State, also known as ISIS and ISIL.

At the same time, Mrs. Bugaighis lamented Washington’s ambivalence toward backing what she described as the only “legitimate and democratically elected” government in Libya as it attempts to contain the Islamic State.

The government, which has operated out of the northeastern Libyan city of Tobruk since an Islamist parliament took over Tripoli last year, is in dire need of military training and hardware, as well as counterterrorism intelligence sharing from the West, she said.
