Baby Pics ‘Too Strong for Facebook’: Social Media Giant Targets Pro-Lifers in New Ad Rules

Facebook says its latest rules for advertising what it calls “political” content will promote transparency, but after a month of operation they are effectively handicapping many publishers, including LifeSiteNews.

Last month, the social media giant began requiring publishers to submit identification and mailing addresses in order to run advertisements (promotions to lists) of a “political” nature in the United States. Among the initial list of subjects deemed by Facebook to be “political” and, which will expand over time, are “abortion,” “civil rights,” “health,” and “values.” Facebook says the change is meant to prevent foreign actors from interfering in American elections. . .

Facebook has already come under fire for blocking ads by LifeSiteNews and other pro-lifers, as well as other forms of discrimination against pro-life, Christian, and conservative voices. In recent months Facebook has delayed the average wait time to approve LifeSiteNews ads from 12 hours to 72, and doubled the cost per donation received from ads deemed “political” from an average of $5.95 to $12 per donation click. Even as little as a year ago, approval for ads (promotions of particular articles) usually took minutes to an hour or two. “Now,” says LifeSite President Steve Jalsevac, “Facebook has made everything ‘political’ whereas we are an entirely issues-focused news service rather than a political one.” . . .

The photos in question do not depict political figures, imagery, or events; nor do they contain violent abortion imagery. They are photos of ultrasounds, pregnant mothers’ bellies, images of preborn babies, and even a simple photo of a mother holding an infant’s feet. . .

When pushed for additional information, Facebook suggested that LifeSiteNews “consider using different images.” If our ads continue to be rejected, it “may be that the topic of choice for your Ads is what is being disapproved.” (Read more from “Baby Pics ‘Too Strong for Facebook’: Social Media Giant Targets Pro-Lifers in New Ad Rules” HERE)

What College Students Say About Their Campuses When They’re Allowed to Be Honest

As far back as 1965, George Harrison urged his listeners, “Think for yourself.” That was good, countercultural advice at the time, and it seems it still is. But the counterculture has since shifted right, especially on college campuses.

In the wake of the American Civil Liberties Union’s disappointing decision to embrace free speech relativism, I found myself in a room filled with free speech champions late last week. The Network of Enlightened Women, a national book club for conservative college women and recent graduates, had gathered in our nation’s capital for their annual conference.

Attendees heard about a broad array of issues, including: women’s rights overseas, human trafficking, paid family leave, where feminism went wrong, and #adulting. However, the gathering’s single most important message was on the importance of free speech, including a defense of independent thought and respectful dialogue across political divides. . .

In speaking to attendees, I met multiple women who had experienced such one-sided teaching on campuses across the country. Several told stories of watching their grades improve by parroting liberal pieties in final exam essays, rather than sharing their own beliefs, because such “wrong” answers lost points. Of course, being called out as “wrong” in front of a whole class is worse, and when Flanagan took questions, one student described being put on the spot by a professor who dismissed her as racist, simply because she is conservative. . .

While upperclassmen and recent graduates reported that it’s never been easy to be a campus conservative, only one student thought things had not noticeably deteriorated since Trump won the presidency. A Syracuse Law student recounted a professor’s turning class into a group therapy session the day after the 2016 election, so students could vent. An undergraduate from Temple University recalled fellow students literally rioting in Philadelphia that same day. No Wonder Jeff Toobin Wants Abortion so Badly, He Once Allegedly Gave His Mistress Money to Have One

Since Anthony Kennedy announced he will be retiring from the Supreme Court, CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin has gone into panic mode over the fate of Roe v. Wade. Immediately, he began sounding the alarm that so-called “abortion rights” as we know it are effectively “doomed” in the United States:

. . .

“You are going to see 20 states pass laws banning abortion outright. Just banning abortion,” Toobin said. “Because they know that there are now going to be five votes on the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.” . . .

According to NY Daily News, Toobin has some deeply personal reasons to fret over abortion being doomed, because he once allegedly paid his mistress, Casey Greenfield, money to have one.

“Greenfield, now 36, was in her 20s when she fell for Toobin, now 49, even though he was wed to Amy McIntosh, the Harvard sweetheart he’d married in 1986 and who gave him two children,” the NY Daily News reported in 2010. “In 2008, when Greenfield became pregnant, and when she told Toobin the news, he offered her ‘money if she’d have an abortion,’ says a source. He also allegedly offered to pay for her to have another child later via a sperm donor.”

Thankfully, Casey Greenfield did not get the abortion and had the child, a son named Roderick Henry Greenfield. Despite Toobin’s initial fight, he eventually did acquiesce to a paternity test, which indeed confirmed him as the father.

‘Where Are the Children?’ Women March on Washington in Act of ‘Civil Disobedience’ to Protest Family Separations

By USA Today. Thousands of women marched through Washington, D.C., on Thursday afternoon and occupied a Senate office building in a “mass civil disobedience” act to protest the Trump administration’s immigration policy.

According to the United States Capitol Police, approximately 575 protesters were charged with “unlawfully demonstrating.” Police said they were being processed on the scene and then released.

Protesters were demonstrating against the “zero tolerance” policy, which has caused more than 2,000 migrant children to be separated from their parents after crossing the border, has sparked public outcry. A major protest is planned for Saturday in Washington, D.C., with sister rallies across the country.

“We’re here to show solidarity with all the mothers who have been separated from their children, and this is because we want to make sure families are reunited,” said Luba Cortes, an immigrant defense coordinator with Make The Road NY. “ICE is a rogue agency, and we don’t want it to continue this way, so we also want to abolish ICE.” (Read more from “‘Where Are the Children?’ Women March on Washington in Act of ‘Civil Disobedience’ to Protest Family Separations” HERE)

Onlookers Who Recorded Drowning Man on Cellphone, Taunted Him as He Went Under, Won’t Be Prosecuted

A group of four minors and one adult were charged last year after they recorded video of a man drowning in a central Florida pond and taunted him as he struggled to stay afloat — and even as he went below the surface for the final time. . .

Police said the individuals in question were on the bank of a pond in Cocoa last July when Jamel Dunn, 31, walked into the water and soon was struggling.

At one point Dunn was clearly heard crying out before his head went under the water — and that was the moment the observers seemed to enjoy most, as they responded with laughter and more mocking commentary. . .

The onlookers heard in the video were charged with violating an obscure law titled Failure to Notify the Medical Examiner of a Death, the station said, but after 11 months State Attorney Phil Archer said there was no way to move forward with prosecutions.

“Unfortunately, Florida law does not address this behavior, and we are ethically restrained from pursuing criminal charges,” Archer told WESH. “If the Legislature wishes to criminalize the conduct in this case, then new legislation will be required.” (Read more from “Onlookers Who Recorded Drowning Man on Cellphone, Taunted Him as He Went Under, Won’t Be Prosecuted” HERE)

ACLU Gets Prayer Banned From a County’s Meetings – Here’s What the Supreme Court Just Said

The Supreme Court announced their decision Thursday on whether to hear an appeal to a ban on public prayer before official meetings in the county of Rowan in North Carolina.

In one of the last decisions by the court before it adjourned for the summer, they refused to hear an appeal to a lower court ruling upholding the ban on prayer before meetings of the Rowan Country Board of Commissioners.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) celebrated the decision from their social media account as a victory against what they considered an unconstitutional establishment of religion.

“The Supreme Court denied a request to hear Lund v. Rowan County, our challenge to a troubling government prayer practice that pressured the public to join in prayers that overwhelmingly advanced beliefs specific to one faith,” they tweeted. . .

The ACLU represented three Rowan County residents and filed the suit against the county over the public prayer. The county superintendents would pray on a rotating basis, or observe a moment of silence, but the ACLU argued that this was unconstitutional because the prayers overwhelmingly represented the Christian faith. Obama-Loving Netflix Under Investigation for Distributing Child Porn

By PJ Media. An Argentinian movie that Netflix offers called Desire is upsetting subscribers because of what looks like illegal content. Viewers on Facebook have shared a clip of the movie and are calling it outright child porn. In the opening scene, two little girls who look to be about seven and nine are playing “horse” on pillows. The older girl begins to obviously masturbate as the younger child watches. The camera even takes this scene into a closeup of the child’s face in slow motion, moving up and down and panting like a porn star. The scene is graphic and includes an orgasm. The film is directed by Diego Kaplan.

PJ Media reported it to the FBI and the Department of Justice, along with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which has launched an investigation. . .

The clip is making its way around Facebook, but anyone sharing it should be aware that it is a crime to circulate child porn, even if you are trying to get help for the child. Any further distribution revictimizes the child, and because of that, PJM will not share the video or photos from the movie that show the victims’ faces. The only thing the public can do is report it to the authorities.

According to the Department of Justice, child porn is clearly defined. . .

Notably, the legal definition of sexually explicit conduct does not require that an image depict a child engaging in sexual activity. A picture of a naked child may constitute illegal child pornography if it is sufficiently sexually suggestive. Additionally, the age of consent for sexual activity in a given state is irrelevant; any depiction of a minor under 18 years of age engaging in sexually explicit conduct is illegal.

Netflix Faces an Investigation Over ‘Child Pornography’ Scenes in an Argentinian Movie

By The Daily Mail. Netflix is facing an investigation over claims that a film on its U.S. platform shows child pornography, it has emerged.

The Argentinian movie Desearas, meaning Desire, is said to show young girls, aged around seven and nine, in a suggestive scene involving pillows. . .

The 2017 film was directed by Diego Kaplan, according to IMDB, where it has earned an average four stars out of ten from user reviews.

Earlier this year the film Show Dogs faced a backlash over claims that some of the scenes resembled sexual abuse.

The National Centre on Sexual Exploitation in the US slammed the film, saying it ‘sends a troubling message that grooms children for sexual abuse’. (Read more from “Netflix Faces an Investigation Over ‘Child Pornography’ Scenes in an Argentinian Movie” HERE)

Clinton Campaigner, Head of Prominent Anti-Rape Charity, Arrested for Trying to Arrange Rape of Two Year Olds

By The Daily Mail. The head of a charity that campaigns against sexual violence has been arrested in New York for child pornography and allegedly trying to meet with children as young as two for sex.

Joel Davis, 22, is accused of trying to set up sexual encounters between himself and young children, as well as soliciting an undercover FBI agent to send sexually explicit videos of minors. . .

Davis is the chairman of the International Campaign to Stop Rape and Gender Violence in Conflict – an organization devoted to ending sexual violence.

Davis allegedly told the agents that he was sexually interested in children of all ages. He is accused of sending the agents sexually explicit photographs of infants and toddlers, including some of the children engaged in sex acts with adults.

The 22-year-old allegedly arranged to meet the nine-year-old daughter of one of the undercover agents and with the purported two-year-old daughter of the officer’s girlfriend. FBI: Clinton Campaign Official Arrested on Child Rape Charges

By Your News Wire. One of Hillary Clinton’s campaign officials was arrested Tuesday on child sex abuse charges, the FBI has confirmed.

Joel Davis was caught in possession of explicit child sex images and had attempted to get access to children as young as 2 years old for sex. . .

Prosecutors say Davis repeatedly asked the undercover agent to take naked and sexually explicit pictures and videos of the children and to send them to him.

Following his arrest, Davis allegedly admitted to officers that he had abused a 13-year-old boy in the past and that he kept child porn images on his phone.

‘Having started an organization that pushed for the end of sexual violence, Davis displayed the highest degree of hypocrisy by his alleged attempts to sexually exploit multiple minors,’ FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge William F. Sweeney Jr. said. (Read more from “FBI: Clinton Campaign Official Arrested on Child Rape Charges” HERE)

Households Earning $117,000 a Year Now Considered ‘Low Income’ in This City

According to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, $117,000 in annual income for a family of four is considered “low income” in San Francisco. . .

In the Department’s most recent annual assessment of income limits for determining the need for assistance like public housing and Section 8 vouchers, the low income limit for three Bay Area counties is now at $117,400 for a four-person household.

Low income for a one-person household is at $82,200 in San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin Counties in California, with the median home price sitting at $935,000. . .

Cole says that he believes the continued rise in housing prices shows that lower-income people have already been priced out of the market. As experts blame the housing shortage on the area’s booming tech industries, there’s no sign of a slow-down in rates for rent or real estate purchases.

And current residents are resistant to any initiatives that could increase traffic congestion or take away from green space, but Cole says there will need to be some sort of compromise. He added: “You’re going to have to trade off higher-cost housing for it in this area. And you’re gonna have to put up with people sleeping on the sidewalk.” (Read more from “Households Earning $117,000 a Year Now Considered ‘Low Income’ in This City” HERE)

Sarah Sanders Finds Herself Another Unlikely Defender After Restaurant Incident

By Townhall. Press Secretary Sarah Sanders has found herself another unlikely defender after getting booted from a Virginia restaurant simply for working for the Trump administration: Former President Bill Clinton.

On Tuesday, Clinton stopped by “The Daily Show” to promote his new book, “The President Is Missing,” which he co-authored with famed thriller novelist, James Patterson. However, it didn’t take long for host Trevor Noah to shift the conversation to today’s debate about civility and whether or not Sanders deserved to be kicked out of a restaurant because of her political affiliations.

“That’s a decision for the restaurant owner to make,” Clinton started out.

“But,” he continued, “what I’d like to point out is, would it be better if that didn’t happen? I think it would.” . . .

“I read the article about the lady who owned the restaurant,” he told Noah, “and I wound up with a lot of respect for the way for the way she debated it. But I also had a lot of respect for the way Sarah Huckabee Sanders handled it. I mean, she was very dignified, she didn’t chew them out, she didn’t pitch a fight, she didn’t call them ‘an immigrant-loving thug’ or whatever. She just got up and left—and offered to pay.” (Read more from “Sarah Sanders Finds Herself Another Unlikely Defender After Restaurant Incident” HERE)

‘Sarah Sanders Welcome Any Time,’ NY Restaurant’s Sign Says

By Fox News. A restaurant in New York received the praise of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee on Tuesday after posting a sign outside that said Sarah Sanders was “welcome any time.”

The father of the White House press secretary, who was booted from a Virginia-based restaurant on Friday, shared a photo on Twitter of an orange sign posted outside Kipps Restaurant.

“OPEN! BREAKFAST SARAH SANDERS WELCOME ANY TIME,” the message said.

The former Arkansas governor mused that the South Wales, N.Y. eatery, “looks like my kind of place!”

John Kipp, the owner of the restaurant, told Fox News on Wednesday that he supports Sanders and didn’t agree with what happened to her, saying he felt it was “a nasty thing to do.” (Read more from “‘Sarah Sanders Welcome Any Time,’ NY Restaurant’s Sign Says” HERE)
