Truckers Won’t Deliver to Cities With Defunded Police Departments

A majority of truckers are vowing to halt deliveries to cities that defund or disband their police departments, according to a recent poll.

Seventy-nine percent of truck drivers said they felt their safety would be at risk if they had to deliver to a city with a disbanded police department, according to CDL News, a website for the commercial trucking industry. . .

Now many truckers are worried about going to places such as Minneapolis, Minnesota, where their city council president reportedly planned to dismantle their police department following the death of George Floyd.

CDL News asked drivers on its app to explain their reasoning for not delivering to these cities.

“I will not deliver to an area with a disbanded police department. My life matter and I do this for my family. We are already at the mercy of these towns and cities with laws and hate against us for parking, getting a meal or even using a restroom,” one driver responded. Nickelodeon Suggests Popular Kids TV Character Is Gay

It was announced last week that the “Looney Tunes” cartoons were receiving a progressive makeover, and Elmer Fudd, who is a hunter, would no longer use guns. Not to be outdone, Nickelodeon wants you to know that SpongeBob SquarePants might be gay.

Apparently, the anthropomorphic sea sponge of the massively popular children’s cartoon might have a sexual preference. In a tweet posted in honor of Pride Month, Nickelodeon announced that SpongeBob SquarePants is “celebrating #Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies this month and every month.” ⁣. . .

This isn’t the first controversy over SpongeBob’s sexuality. In 2002 episode titled “Rock-a-Bye Bivalve,” SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick Star, a pink starfish who also lives in Bikini Bottom, co-parent an abandoned scallop.

Before he passed away from ALS in 2018, “SpongeBob SquarePants” creator Stephen Hillenburg said the talking sponge is “asexual” in a 2005 interview with People Magazine. (Read more from “Nickelodeon Suggests Popular Kids TV Character Is Gay” HERE)

Here’s Why Governor Cuomo Is Threatening to Shut Down Manhattan (VIDEO)

New York City has experienced weeks of George Floyd protests and riots. Thousands of people crammed in close proximity, violating social distancing guidelines. A great deal of the protesters did not wear masks, and chanted protest battle cries, releasing potentially dangerous coronavirus respiratory droplets into the air. But New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo doesn’t seem to be too concerned with the protests. He is very perturbed about too many patrons at restaurants, and he wants New Yorkers to rat out any businesses not following COVID-19 restrictions. . .

After seeing the viral video of the crowds, Cuomo unleashed fresh threats against New Yorkers. The Democratic governor vowed to shut down Manhattan and the Hamptons if throngs of people frequented bars and restaurants. Cuomo said the state received 25,000 complaints against businesses not complying with coronavirus restrictions.

“We’re getting reports from all across the state that there are large gatherings. Social distancing is being violated. People are not wearing masks,” Cuomo said. “Manhattan and the Hamptons are the leading areas in this state with violations. They are rampant, and there’s not enough enforcement.”

Cuomo threatened to put parts of the state back on complete lockdown if the behavior continued. “If local governments are not monitoring policing, doing the compliance, yes, there is a very real possibility that we would roll back the reopening of those areas.”

GOP Congressman Calls for DOJ Investigation After Church Is Fined for Holding Service During Lockdown

A Maryland church was fined for holding a service despite the county’s coronavirus stay-at-home order, prompting a call for the Department of Justice to investigate.

A Sunday service was held at Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, Maryland, on May 24 despite a stay-at-home order in Baltimore County, according to CBS 13 Baltimore.

“Our people were just ready to come back to church,” pastor Stacey Shiflet said.

The punitive fine leveled at the church inspired Rep. Andy Harris, a Maryland Republican, to demand the Department of Justice get involved.

“If Baltimore County does not withdraw the fine by the time of the hearing on Tuesday, I do intend to ask the DOJ to investigate,” Harris said in a statement.

Attorney General William Barr has spoken out against churches being unfairly targeted during the coronavirus shutdown, saying that “the Constitution is not suspended in times of crisis.” (Read more from “GOP Congressman Calls for DOJ Investigation After Church Is Fined for Holding Service During Lockdown” HERE)

BLM Protesters Say Seattle’s Autonomous Zone Has Hijacked Message

Protesters inside the self-declared autonomous zone in downtown Seattle booed and heckled members of the African American Community Advisory Council Thursday afternoon as the group told demonstrators they had “hijacked” the message of Black Lives Matter.

The council works to foster relationships between the Seattle Police Department and the community, a necessary liaison, particularly in the climate of mounting tension against police following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

the council said, addressing demonstrators inside the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” (CHAZ)– a six-block region, which includes a police precinct– that has been taken over by protesters.

After weeks of protests, Seattle demonstrators successfully ousted police officers from the East Precinct, forcing them to shutter the building and leave, and attempts at negotiating a police presence have been unsuccessful.

“Black lives do matter but there are also black lives that are police lives,” a woman from the council said, according to reports by Komo News. “They feel the same way that you do.” (Read more from “BLM Protesters Say Seattle’s Autonomous Zone Has Hijacked Message” HERE)

WATCH: Governor Promises to Deny Funding for Police Departments That Don’t Pass Race Reforms

Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said local New York police departments must pass race reforms or they will lose state funding.

During a press briefing on Saturday, Cuomo told protesters they “won” by protesting over the issues of police violence and systemic racism, introducing a plan in which communities will implement reforms consistent with their constituency’s demands. . .

“If you don’t do it, local government, you won’t get any state funding. Period. We’re not going to tell you what to do. But we’ll tell you have to go through the process. And you have to pass a law with your redesigned police force,” Cuomo said, setting a deadline for April 1.

Thousands of Southern Citizens of this State Want to Replace Confederate Monuments with Britney Spears

A new movement for a Britney Spears monument has turned Louisiana’s statue debate into a real “Circus.”

A snarky Southerner started a petition seeking to replace the state’s Confederate statues with one honoring “an actual Louisiana hero and influencial[sic] human being, Britney Spears” — and the response has been crazy.

“Before becoming one of the world’s most important and influential pop legends, Britney Spears was living life in a small southern town by the name of Kentwood, Louisiana,” the petition, addressed to Gov. John Edwards and other lawmakers, reads. “She’s already earned her star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and now it’s time for her home state to honor her with the tribute that she deserves.” (Read more about the hilarious movement to replace confederate monuments HERE)

WATCH: Seattle ‘Autonomous Zone’ Has a Border Wall, Conducts ‘Deportations’; Who’s in Charge of CHAZ?; Dispatch From ‘CHAZ’: Tweets Call for Guns, Gatorade and Cigarettes

By Breitbart. Seattle, Washington’s Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) — formed by anarchists, Antifa members, and Black Lives Matter activists — has set up a border wall surrounding its perimeters and is seemingly conducting ‘deportations’.

CHAZ, a six-square block autonomous zone, has clear and precise borders made up of mostly vehicle barriers and various forms of fencing.

Likewise, CHAZ occupants have seemingly conducted at least one deportation.

On Thursday, reporter Julio Rosas captured a moment where CHAZ occupants kicked out a man who said he was a pro-life activist and had been live-streaming from inside the autonomous zone.

The man was taunted by a mob as he was kicked out. The process was far less technical and impartial than the deportation process of the United States federal government.

Who’s in Charge of CHAZ?

By PJ Media. Conservative media has been pushing the narrative that “armed antifa” thugs are in control of the so-called capitol hill autonomous zone. Indeed, antifa is there. And numerous witnesses attest to at least some of them being armed.

But if you read the mainstream media and listen to Seattle authorities, you get a quite different picture.

It is true that demonstrators have occupied a small, six-square block section of Seattle and designated it an “autonomous zone.” And it is true that, after clashes with police, a precinct was boarded up and evacuated in an attempt to deescalate the situation.

But claims that bands of militant Antifa members are roving the Seattle streets appear to be grossly exaggerated in right-wing media. In fact, according to the Seattle mayor’s office, city officials haven’t seen any evidence to indicate armed members of Antifa are even on the ground.

“City officials have not interacted with ‘armed antifa militants’ at this site, but will continue to be on site to monitor the situation closely,” Lori Patrick, a spokesperson for the Seattle mayor, told CNN Wednesday night.

Dispatch From ‘CHAZ’: Tweets Call for Guns, Gatorade and Cigarettes as Cops Struggle to Figure out Who’s in Charge

By Fox News. Activists and police have clashing views regarding the activities going on inside the so-called “CHAZ,” a six-block area of Seattle that has been taken over by protesters — and authorities are still scratching their heads as to who is actually running the rabble. . .

One CHAZ supporter, identified as Armani on Twitter, encouraged protesters to “buy guns.”

Police have repeatedly said they have “heard, anecdotally, reports of citizens and businesses being asked to pay a fee to operate within this area” while others have complained about armed guards asking to see identification for people to enter their homes, according to Assistant Chief of Police Deanna Nollette.

Police have also said their response time to 911 calls has tripled over the last few days because they are unable to access the downtown region and are being blocked out by protesters.

A possible leader behind the movement is Kshama Sawant, a Seattle City Council member who helped let hundreds of demonstrators into City Hall earlier this week in a late-night protest calling for Mayor Jenny Durkan to resign.

Chinese Military Officer Arrested While Allegedly Trying to Steal U.S. Medical Research

A Chinese military officer was caught trying to leave California with university research materials this week, after allegedly lying on an application to obtain a visitor visa for a work-study exchange program, the Justice Department announced.

Xin Wang, a scientific researcher and officer with China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), was arrested at LAX as he was attempting to board his flight to Tianjin, China, according to court documents unsealed this week. He faces visa fraud charges.

Wang entered the U.S. on March 26, 2019, to conduct scientific research at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), according to his J1 non-immigrant visa application. The application, however, is said to have contained fraudulent statements — including claims that his service with the PLA had ended in 2016 — that were made to increase the chances that he would receive visa approval.

Officials claim Wang revealed that he had instructions from the director of his military lab to observe the layout of the UCSF lab with the understanding that they wanted to try to replicate it in China. He was also accused of attempting to bring materials to China with him and had already emailed research. Seattle Occupiers’ Dangerous and Unconstitutional Demands

After repeated clashes with, at times, violent protesters, the Seattle Police Department abandoned its East Precinct building in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood. On June 8, protesters occupied and barricaded the six blocks surrounding it. They have since named their territory the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.

The protesters have now published a list of demands.

The list includes a number of foolish and dangerous policy proposals, including:

Defunding the police “100%,” which would include defunding pensions for retired officers and replacing them with “localized anti-crime systems.”

Abolishing the courts.

Abolishing imprisonment.

Retrying all persons of color convicted of violent offenses.

Staffing the 911 line with mental health experts.

Establishing city-wide rent control.

Banning evictions.

Socializing medicine.

Granting citizenship to illegal aliens.

Providing reparations for African Americans.

In other times or other cities, these ideas would be politically infeasible. But Seattle’s leaders are at least sympathetic to them, if not actively supporting them.

Seattle’s mayor and all of its city councilmembers are staunch progressives. One councilmember, Kshama Sawant, marched with protesters as they occupied the Seattle City Hall.

Sawant has previously called for “a powerful socialist movement to end all capitalist oppression and exploitation.”

As outlandish as some of these proposals are, they likely face weaker political headwinds than one might think.

Thankfully, however, the Constitution prohibits some of these demands.

Consider, for example, the demand that all “people in color” currently imprisoned for violent crimes be retried by a “jury of their peers in their community.”

The Constitution already guarantees the right to be tried by a jury of their peers, and anyone convicted of a crime benefited from that right unless they voluntarily waived it.

But, of course, what the protesters probably mean by a “jury of their peers” is a jury that shares the same skin tone with the accused. To accomplish that, any potential jurors who did not share the defendant’s skin tone would have to be struck from the jury pool based solely on their race, and that is not constitutional.

And what of the courts? The protesters call for their abolishment, but the Constitution guarantees a variety of rights that are dependent on competent courts to administer them, such as the right to a jury trial, the right to due process, and the right to be secure against unreasonable searches and seizures.

Take away trained judges and the procedural safeguards of the court system, and these rights become paper tigers.

Likewise, the Constitution guarantees a number of rights that are dependent upon some form of law enforcement to give them effect. Consider, for example, a criminal defendant’s rights to confront his accuser and to compel witnesses to testify on his behalf.

To enforce those rights, some group of people must be able to wield the power of the state to force other people to do something that they might not want to do. You don’t have to call them “police,” but the Constitution requires that they exist.

What about the protesters’ economic demands for rent control and an end to evictions? They might as well abolish private property, because the effect of such policies is to eliminate all the rights associated with property ownership, which the Constitution protects.

And finally, what of their demands for reparations for black people? Any such blatantly race-based scheme would have to pass the highest level of judicial scrutiny, and a sea of unanswerable questions make that difficult to conceive: Who is sufficiently “black”? How much did historical discrimination cause a claimant’s modern problems? Would reparations solve those problems? The list goes on.

The protesters’ answer to these constitutional concerns might be: “We reject the Constitution and all the limits it places on us.” Well, the rest of society does not.

More importantly, those who control the levers of power that could, theoretically, make this list of demands a reality have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution.

As such, the Constitution prevents at least some of these demands from becoming a reality, even if politicians support them.

Nevertheless, the Constitution’s bulwark should not make us complacent in the face of demands like these. Seattle’s protesters, and other radicals like them, will figure out that the Constitution is the biggest obstacle to their agenda, and they will come for it too.
