By Fortune. Americans will endure high gas prices “as long as it takes” to quell Russian President Vladimir Putin’s Ukraine invasion, U.S. President Joe Biden said Thursday.

Did he check with Americans before saying that?

A reporter at a NATO summit press conference in Madrid asked Biden how long it’s fair “to expect American drivers and drivers around the world to pay that premium for this war,” referencing Ukraine.

“As long as it takes, so Russia cannot, in fact, defeat Ukraine and move beyond Ukraine,” Biden said.

National average gas prices have topped $5 a gallon this month—a new record, despite Biden’s historically large release of national reserves earlier this year. Biden has called on Congress to suspend the federal gas tax for three months to help alleviate the economic burden to consumers, but has encountered resistance from his own party. WH: Put Up With High Gas Prices for ‘the Future of the Liberal World Order’

Thursday, during an appearance on CNN’s “Newsroom,” National Economic Council Director Brian Deese defended President Joe Biden’s remarks earlier in the day, claiming Americans may have to deal with higher prices as the world grapples with an aggressive Russian President Vladimir Putin setting his sights on Ukraine.

Deese called Biden’s remarks a claim about what was at stake, which he called the “future of the liberal world order.”

“What you heard from the president today was about the stakes,” he said. “This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm. But at the same time, what I’d say to that family, to Americans across the country is, you have a present administration that is going to do everything in its power to blunt those price increases and bring those prices down. Trump Accuses Ex-Aide of ‘Living in a Fantasy Land’ After Jan. 6 Testimony

Former President Donald Trump ripped into Cassidy Hutchinson, the one-time White House aide who dropped several bombshell revelations at a House hearing this week — deriding her as a “social climber,” claiming she was “living in a fantasy land” and discounting her allegation that he lunged at a Secret Service agent on Jan. 6, 2021.

The 45th president laughed off the suggestion by Hutchinson that he tried to overpower his protective detail and drive the presidential SUV to the Capitol, saying during a Thursday interview with News​m​ax that “these guys lift 350 pounds, I don’t.”

“The woman is living in a fantasy land,” he said of Hutchinson, a former top aide to ex-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

“She’s a social climber, if you call that social,” he continued. “I think it’s just a shame that this is happening to this country, and we don’t have any Republicans up there to dispute it.”

Biden Doesn’t Even Know Which Country He’s Talking About in Latest Gaffe

. . .President Biden announced Thursday that he had called the leader of Switzerland to discuss abandoning two centuries of neutrality to join NATO — before quickly correcting himself to say he actually meant Sweden.

“Some of the American press will remember when I got a phone call from the leader of Finland saying could he come and see me, then he came the next day and said, ‘Will you support my joining — my country joining NATO?’ We got the telephone. He suggested we call the leader of Switzerland,” Biden said.

The president immediately fixed his mistake, adding, “Switzerland, my goodness, I’m getting really anxious here about expanding NATO — of Sweden.”

Biden was speaking at a press conference in Madrid following a NATO summit at which Finland and Sweden were officially invited to join the military alliance in response to the more than four-month-old Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Supreme Court Vacates Ruling Upholding California’s Large-Capacity Gun Magazine Ban

The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday vacated a ruling in a San Diego case that upheld California’s ban on gun magazines that hold more than 10 bullets and sent it back to a lower court to reconsider following the high court’s major decision in a gun case last week.

The Supreme Court also ordered similar fresh looks on other gun restrictions in Hawaii, New Jersey and Maryland.

In light of last week’s ruling — which said that Americans have a right to carry a gun outside the home — the Supreme Court said lower courts should take another look at several cases that had been awaiting action by the high court. Those cases include one about a Maryland assault weapons ban and another regarding a Hawaii law that limits who can carry a gun outside the home. ‘I’M OUT OF HERE’: Biden Abruptly Ends Press Conference as Reporters Shout Questions (VIDEO)

President Biden hastily ended a press conference on Thursday, turning his back as reporters shouted questions and declaring, “I’m out of here.”

Biden answered several questions from a pre-determined list of reporters during a press conference in Madrid, Spain, following the NATO Summit before he said, “All right, guys,” and attempted to wrap things up. Multiple reporters still wanted to ask questions, and someone in the crowd promised to be quick, but Biden shut it down nonetheless.

“There’s no such thing as a quick one. I’m out of here,” Biden said as he walked away from the podium as numerous reporters had their hands raised.

Biden, who has a history of walking away from reporters attempting to ask questions, smiled as he exited the stage while multiple voices were heard shouting, “Mr. President.”

State Moves to Restrict Transgender Surgeries for Minors

Alabama is moving to prohibit transgender medication and surgeries for minors just days after the landmark Supreme Court case overturning Roe v. Wade.

The state is among the first to cite Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization to argue for banning sex-change surgery for minors, according to the Associated Press. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall’s office is asking for the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to lift an injunction to allow Alabama to enforce a state law making it a felony to give puberty blockers or hormones to minors, arguing transitioning for minors is not a constitutional right or “deeply rooted in our history or traditions.”

Early this spring, Alabama’s state legislature passed a bill criminalizing sex-changing procedures for minors in the state, which was then signed by Gov. Kay Ivey (R) before a federal judge issued a preliminary injunction blocking the measure.

Alabama could be at the forefront of other states pursuing a similar course of action. Last week, the Texas GOP adopted a platform that included support for banning transgender medication and surgery for minors, along with forbidding “Drag Queen Story Hour” events at Texas schools and libraries. Poll: Most Hispanic Voters Support Trump’s ‘Title 42’ Border Policy

A majority of Hispanic voters support former President Donald Trump’s Title 42 immigration policy that makes it easier for the federal government to deport border crossers and illegal aliens, according to an Axios-Ipsos poll released Thursday.

Axios found that 51 percent of Hispanic Americans support keeping Title 42 in place. On the other hand, just 44 percent are opposed to the policy.

“I think because it’s a COVID mitigation thing, we do see sort of higher support for it, than if it were just sort of a pure immigration concern,” Ipsos pollster and senior vice president Chris Jackson told Axios. Jackson was reportedly “surprised” that most Hispanics supported Title 42.

These poll numbers come as President Joe Biden’s administration is in a legal dispute over the pandemic-era immigration policy. After Biden announced the program would end in May, 21 states sued the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), alleging Biden unlawfully terminated the program.

A man in Iowa is going viral after capturing footage of what he said was a UFO flying through the night sky Tuesday.

The Des Moines man was driving down Hickman Road when he said he saw the UFO above him.

“It’s like an eyeball-looking UFO. I don’t know what to make of it,” Jacob Ferrell said.

While many high-profile companies are offering employees money for abortion tourism in the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, a Texas-based insurance company is taking the opposite approach by allocating funds to new parents instead.

Buffer Insurance, a small company headquartered in Southlake, Texas, took a stand for both biological and adoptive parents and mentioned the Supreme Court decision when they announced the new initiative on Facebook.

Researchers Discover Breakthrough Treatment for Strokes

A drug commonly used to bust clots for heart attacks has been shown to be an effective and efficient treatment for strokes, researchers say.

It was found in the largest clinical stroke trial ever run in Canada that Tenecteplase (TNK) is an effective treatment for acute ischemic stroke, Medical Express reported Wednesday.

“Intravenous tenecteplase (0·25 mg/kg) is a reasonable alternative to alteplase for all patients presenting with acute ischaemic stroke who meet standard criteria for thrombolysis,” said the study, published at The Lancet.

Dr. Bijoy Menon, MD, the co-principal investigator on the study, said the findings from the trial are “truly” “important” and “could revolutionize stroke treatment throughout the world.”

“Tenecteplase is known to be an effective clot dissolving drug,” continued Menon, a professor at the University of Calgary. “It is very easy to administer, which makes it a game changer when seconds count to save brain cells.” (Read more from “Researchers Discover Breakthrough Treatment for Strokes” HERE)
