Ex-U.S. Marine Killed in Ukraine Was Hired by Private Company to Fight There; Two Army Vets Wounded

By New York Post. A former US Marine who was hired to fight alongside Ukrainian soldiers against Russian invaders was killed this week.

Willy Joseph Cancel, 22, was being paid by a private military contracting company to fight in Ukraine when he died on Monday, family members told CNN.

“He wanted to go over because he believed in what Ukraine was fighting for, and he wanted to be a part of it to contain it there so it didn’t come here, and that maybe our American soldiers wouldn’t have to be involved in it,” Cancel’s mother, Rebecca Cabrera told the network.

Cancel flew to Poland on March 12 and arrived in Ukraine the next day to fight alongside men from “all different countries,” Cabrera reportedly said.

Two Americans, Both Former Army, Wounded by Artillery in Ukraine Combat

By Coffee Ordie. Two Americans volunteering in Ukraine’s armed forces were wounded by artillery fire during combat in southeastern Ukraine on Wednesday, April 27.

US Army veterans Paul Gray and Manus McCaffery were on a mission to destroy a Russian tank near Orikhiv, a small city in the path of Russia’s ongoing military offensive in the south and east of Ukraine. The pair were waiting for a Russian tank to appear on a road when an artillery round struck nearby at roughly 2:35 p.m., Gray told Coffee or Die Magazine via text message. McCaffery suffered serious shrapnel wounds to his face, head, shoulders, and torso. A concrete wall fell onto Gray, momentarily trapping him and injuring his left foot.

“Manus is really bad…I’m sick about it,” Gray said, adding that he was about five feet from McCaffery when the artillery struck. “I couldn’t help him because a concrete wall fell on my legs. He remained talking the whole time. Extremely hard young man.”

A native of Ohio, McCaffery, 20, served in the US Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment and deployed to Afghanistan. Gray, who is originally from Texas, deployed to Iraq three times as a soldier in the US Army’s 101st Airborne Division. Both men are no longer in the US armed forces and were civilians when they volunteered to join Ukraine’s armed forces via legal pathways. The two American volunteers served within a Ukrainian special operations unit and worked together as a team targeting Russian tanks and vehicles with US-made Javelin anti-tank missiles. Musk No Fan of ‘Far Right,’ but Says ‘Far Left’ ‘Hates Everyone’

Elon Musk already has sent progressives into shock with his purchase of Twitter and his not-at-all-veiled references to free speech returning to the industry-leading social media site.

That alone could disrupt the entire liberal strategy for America’s future, as for years now Twitter has been a leading site for suppressing conservative thought, and amplifying the Democrats’ agenda.

But now he’s gone further, stating online that “By ‘free speech’, I simply mean that which matches the law. I am against censorship that goes far beyond the law. If people want less free speech, they will ask government to pass laws to that effect. Therefor, going beyond the law is contrary to the will of the people.”

Proof ‘Woke’ Leaders Don’t Actually Believe Anything They Say

Every day, America’s leaders bombard the rest of us with a fusillade of the latest “woke” moral imperatives: “Equity!” “Diversity!” “Climate justice!” “Anti-racism!” “Trans rights!” “Reproductive justice!” “Preserving our democracy!”

Whether in government, big tech, big media or big business, our elites continually invoke these and other sacred mantras of the religion of Leftism, displaying to the world their superior moral virtue – in stark contrast to the vast unwashed peasant class comprising tens of millions of bigots, extremists, white supremacists, conservatives and other deplorables.

Yet, probe just beneath the surface of their “woke” righteousness, their passionate angst over “systemic racism,” “marginalized communities” and “saving the planet,” and it turns out most of these wealthy elites – whose policies are, after all, wrecking the country – don’t really believe in any of the left’s phantasmagoric causes.

They know men can’t have babies.

What Has Murkowski’s Vote for Deb Haaland Done for Alaska?

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski was one of four Republican senators to cross party lines last year to vote for President Joe Biden’s activist pick to lead the Department of the Interior, New Mexico Rep. Deb Haaland. More than 13 months after Haaland’s confirmation, Alaskans are paying the price for Murkowski’s approval. . .

Upon completing her first trip to Alaska, Secretary Haaland left with a “parting gift” of more Washington restrictions, declaring that millions more acres that were once open to oil and gas exploration would be locked under environmental regulation.

On Monday, the Interior Department’s Bureau of Land Management, which is now run by an ecoterrorist, announced it would reverse Trump-era efforts to expand oil and gas operations in Alaska’s National Petroleum Reserve, shutting off 7 million acres from development despite today’s urgent need to drill. . .

At this point, however, the announcement should come as no surprise. In October, the Biden administration decided to let stand a judge’s ruling to strip permits for the Willow Project in the same reserve. Approved under President Donald Trump in 2020, the 30-year plan from ConocoPhillips to develop five drilling sites would have been the largest single extraction project on federal land. . .

Mounting Evidence Canada Trained Ukrainian Extremists, Gov’t Needs to Be Held to Accountable: Experts

With mounting evidence pointing to the Canadian Armed Forces having trained members of Ukraine’s military who are also reported to be part of extremist groups, experts say Ottawa needs to strongly bolster its investigation and vetting of the soldiers it trains and arms in the embattled country.

The Department of National Defence promised a thorough review of Canada’s mission in Ukraine after CTVNews.ca approached them for comment in October 2021, regarding a report from George Washington University that found extremists in the Ukrainian military were bragging about being trained by Canadians as part of Operation UNIFIER.

The group in question – which calls itself Military Order Centuria, or simply Centuria, has links to the far-right Azov movement.

The Canadian military said they were alarmed by the report and denied any knowledge that extremists had taken part in training, adding that it does not have the mandate to screen the soldiers they train from other countries.

In the month that followed, an investigation by the Ottawa Citizen found that not only did Canadian officials meet and get briefed by leaders from the Azov Battalion in 2018, they did not denounce the unit’s neo-Nazi beliefs – despite being warned about their views by their colleagues– and their main concern was that media would expose that the meeting had taken place. Officers and diplomats allowed themselves to be photographed with battalion officials which was then used online by Azov as propaganda. Oh, Shocker…Twitter Sees Spike in User Growth Following Elon Musk’s Takeover

Are we shocked that Twitter is going to get better now that ownership is changing? I’ve seen it on my end and others have noted it as well. The engagement is through the roof. Follower counts are spiking again. Twitter is becoming a beehive of activity now that the censorship police on the platform have been gutted. They’ve been clipped. Elon Musk has purchased the company for $44 billion. The Left is going nuts. The employees are taking valium. And Elon Musk is going to make the platform what it once was—or at least that’s the hope. It can’t get any worse than it is now, so there’s a huge upside here with Musk taking over (via NY Post):

Twitter on Thursday said its user growth is surging amid weak revenue in what is expected to be one of its final earnings reports as a publicly traded company before billionaire Elon Musk takes the social media firm private.

Twitter’s base of monetizable daily active users – considered the company’s key reporting metric – grew 16% to 229 million during the quarter ending on March 31 – a period that concluded just days before Musk disclosed his 9% stake in the company.

That disclosure proceeded Musk’s effort to buy the company outright with a plan to dial down its content moderation policies.

Troops Allege Military’s COVID Vaccine Mandate Is a ‘Religious Purge’

Three active duty service members appeared in a segment aired Thursday on a podcast hosted by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Florida, accusing the Defense Department of using the COVID-19 vaccine mandate to “intentionally purge” religious service members.

Air Force Capt. Jordan Karr, Army Maj. Samuel Sigoloff and Air Force Master Sgt. Nickolas Kupper made their cases from a variety of angles ― including religious freedom, controversy over the emergency authorization vs. Food and Drug Administration-approved version of the Pfizer vaccine and “natural immunity” to the novel coronavirus. But all agreed that the involuntary separation policy for vaccine refusal is part of a concerted effort to remove certain members of the military.

“If you are a believer and you are listening to this podcast, you need to understand that God-fearing service members are being intentionally purged from the services,” Karr said.

All three service members are party to one of several lawsuits troops have filed against the Defense Department and the services, alleging mostly that the religious exemption process is unconstitutional.

Russian Spy Chief Says U.S., Poland Plotting Division of Ukraine

Russia’s foreign spy chief accused the United States and Poland on Thursday of plotting to gain a sphere of influence in Ukraine, a claim denied by Warsaw as disinformation aimed at sowing distrust among Kyiv’s supporters.

Sergei Naryshkin, the chief of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), cited unpublished intelligence that he said showed the United States and Poland, NATO allies, were plotting to restore Polish control over part of western Ukraine.

“According to the intelligence received by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Washington and Warsaw are working on plans to establish Poland’s tight military and political control over its historical possessions in Ukraine,” Naryshkin said in a rare statement released by the SVR. . .

Poland has ruled some territories that are now part of Ukraine at different times in the past, most recently between the two world wars. Biden Blasted for Policing Free Speech With ‘Dystopian’ Disinformation Bureau

. . .President Biden came under fire Thursday for the creation of a “dystopian” disinformation bureau created under his Homeland Security department, which critics are blasting as just a way for the government to police free speech online.

Conservatives slammed the Department of Homeland Security’s Orwellian new “Disinformation Governance Board” – with some suggesting the timing is convenient given Elon Musk vowed to make Twitter a free speech haven after his $44 billion takeover of the social media platform notorious for selectively censoring right-leaning points of view.

Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley called the new board a “disgrace” that was designed to “monitor all Americans’ speech.”

In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Hawley said he initially thought Wednesday’s announcement was “satire.”

White House Communications Director Tests Positive for COVID-19

White House Communications Director Kate Bedingfield announced on Friday that she tested positive for COVID-19. This comes after other members of the Biden administration have tested positive for the virus in recent weeks.

Bedingfield shared on Twitter that she is not considered “close contact” with President Joe Biden. She said she wore a N-95 mask during a socially-distanced meeting with him this week.
