Biden: New Stimulus Needed ‘Even if We’re Growing at 8%’ and Have ‘3% Unemployment Rate’

(CNSNews.com) – Vice President Joe Biden said Congress should pass the $450-billion American Jobs Act even if the economy were growing at 8 percent and unemployment were as low as 3 percent.

“Look, we should be doing all of this stuff even if we were growing by 8 percent, even if there was a 3 percent unemployment rate in America,” Biden said at an event on Thursday to promote the legislation. “We need better roads, we need better bridges, we need safer streets.”

“We need to be in a position where our kids are in classrooms where there’s enough qualified teachers, where they are in fact in classes where they are safe,” Biden said.

The vice president made his remarks at the headquarters of the Alexandria Police Department in Alexandria, Va., where he also announced that the agency was one of the recipients of a federal grant to fund the hiring of new officers.

The Alexandria Police Department will hire four officers with the almost $859,000 it received from the more than $243 million in grant funds.

Black Man invites Morgan Freeman to Tea Party

UPDATE (Sept 29, 2011 4:39pm ET): Visit https://YourMoveMorgan.com

Dear Mr. Freeman,

My name is Ali Akbar. I’m a 26 year-old African-American small business owner and a tea party activist. I’m not writing to rake you over the coals in the way that many conservatives have done in the last 48 hours. Heck, I wrote a passionate open-letter refuting many of your claims already, but this is not that. This is an honest and standing invitation. I do believe that you are wrong in what you said about the tea party, but I would rather prove it to you than castigate you for your comments.

I also understand that your reflexive comments came from experience. You grew up in a different America than the one that I was blessed to be born into. We both grew up in the south, but I never saw ‘White Only’ signs. I’ve been called a name or two in my three decades, but racism has always been the exception in my life, not the rule, as it probably was in your youth. I understand your suspicion of conservative political movements. It is rooted in pain and fear and memory, and though I never saw the horrors of segregation that you did, we share that cultural heritage.

I’ve been a fan of yours all my life. From “Driving Miss Daisy” to “Lean on Me” to “The Shawshank Redemption,” I idolized you as a boy. Growing up without a father, you were one of the strong black men in my life who gave me a model to follow. Each of the characters you played had dignity and confidence. I tried to emulate the strength you projected. While many of my friends headed down the all-too-familiar path of drugs, unwed pregnancies and crime, I’ve striven to live a life with dignity, be an example for my brothers and make my mother proud.

My favorite of your movies was “The Power of One.” I must’ve watched it a hundred times, crying every time when your character Geel Piet was killed by the racist South African. Geel Piet was brave and heroic, even in the face of death, because he knew that the hate that killed him was a trifle in comparison to the love that PK’s anti-apartheid movement was spreading. It is with that spirit that I’m writing to you this morning.

I’ve attended dozens of tea party events. I’ve helped organize them, and I’ve even spoken at a few. The tea party is not what is often depicted in the news. It is people of all colors who are terribly concerned about the direction that America is heading. We don’t trust big government to make decisions for us. And we fear that the present administration’s spending is going to lead our country down a path to insolvency, much like what Greece is currently facing.

New Orleans Councilwoman, Ray Nagin Try to Remove Anti-Obama Signs on Private Property

A series of anti-Obama signs in New Orleans’ Uptown neighborhood have raised the ire of a local city councilwoman, who promises to exploit “whatever we can use” to have them removed. And former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has personally intervened to try to talk the homeowner, Timothy Reily, into squelching his freedom of speech.

Reily posted three placards expressing his displeasure with the president on his property at the corner of Calhoun and Coralie streets. One depicts Obama as a crybaby, complete with diaper, proclaiming, “It’s Not My Fault.” Rush Limbaugh recently read six pages of headlines featuring Obama blaming the sad state of national affairs on everything from the Arab spring to the Japanese tsunami.

Another portrays Obama in a dunce cap translating the economic maxims of “Obamics 101″ into plain English. It includes such phrases as “Progress=”Redistribution of Wealth” and “Stimulus=9.2 percent unemployment.”

A third states Obama is a puppet of George Soros. Last November, this author noted the Soros-funded Center for American Progress issued a paper encouraging Obama to rule by executive order the same day word leaked that George Soros told a meeting of the Democracy Alliance, “if this president can’t do what we need, it is time to start looking somewhere else.” Obama has since stepped up his use of executive powers and federal regulations.

The signs have incensed some in Reily’s neighborhood. Maya Rodriguez of WWL-TV reports some of Reily’s neighbors gathered outside his home and complained:

“He wouldn’t do that to [President] Bush, I’m sure. It’s just insulting. It’s insulting,” said C.C. Campbell-Rock. “He’s going to have to take them down.”

“This is nothing put pure racism,” said Raymond Rock. “This is a disgrace.”

Bombshell revelation: US agent actually sold the guns to Mexican criminals

By Michael Walsh (NY Post):

This just might be the smoking gun we’ve been waiting for to break the festering “Fast and Furious” gun-running scandal wide open: the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives apparently ordered one of its own agents to purchase firearms with taxpayer money, and sell them directly to a Mexican drug cartel.

Let that sink in: After months of pretending that “Fast and Furious” was a botched surveillance operation of illegal gun-running spearheaded by the ATF and the US attorney’s office in Phoenix, it turns out that the government itself was selling guns to the bad guys.

Agent John Dodson was ordered to buy four Draco pistols for cash and even got a letter from his supervisor, David Voth, authorizing a federally licensed gun dealer to sell him the guns without bothering about the necessary paperwork.

“Please accept this letter in lieu of completing an ATF Form 4473 for the purchase of four (4) CAI, Model Draco, 7.62×39 mm pistols, by Special Agent John Dodson,” read the June 1, 2010, letter. “These aforementioned pistols will be used by Special Agent Dodson in furtherance of performance of his official duties.”

On orders, Dodson then sold the guns to known criminals, who first stashed them away and then — deliberately unhindered by the ATF or any other agency — whisked them off to Mexico.

People were killed with Fast and Furious weapons, including at least two American agents and hundreds of Mexicans. And the taxpayers picked up the bill.

So where’s the outrage?

There’s none from the feds. Attorney General Eric Holder has consistently stonewalled Rep. Darrell Issa, Sen. Chuck Grassley and other congressional investigators.

In a constantly evolving set of lies, Holder has denied knowing anything about Fast and Furious while at the same time withholding documents from the House and Senate committees looking into the mess while muzzling some witnesses and transferring others.

Supreme Court says “No” to Mexican Roe v. Wade, State Personhood Amendment Upheld

By Keith Ashley.  The Supreme Court of Mexico ruled on Wednesday to uphold the state constitutional personhood amendment of Baja California. A similar decision in the San Luis Potosi case is expected. The Court’s most recent appointee, Justice Jorge Mario Pardo Rebolledo, sided with three members of the Court to reject an Action for Unconstitutionality submitted against the measures. Pardo Rebolledo was appointed last February and had yet to rule in an abortion case. His vote ensures that the Court will not reach the supermajority necessary to overturn the amendment.

“Pardo Rebolledo, as well as Justices Salvador Aguirre, Margarita Luna, and Guillermo Ortiz have our gratitude,” said Personhood USA Legal Analyst Gualberto Garcia Jones, J.D. “Thousands of Mexican girls and boys will, one day, be able to thank them personally for defending their very right to exist.”

In total, eighteen states have passed measures enshrining into law full personhood protections for preborn children. The amendments were passed in reaction to the legalization of abortion in Mexico City in 2009. The state measures received the support of 88% of the members of state legislatures including members of every major political party such as PAN, PRI, and PRD.

Diebold voting machines can be hacked by remote control – for $10

A laboratory test shows how Diebold machines can be easily manipulated.  And Alaska’s Diebold machines, banned in California, can be manipulated in a similar way.  Read about that HERE.  Why did Alaska’s Lt. Governor certify a hand count of Murkowski’s ballots but certified a Diebold machine count of Miller’s ballots?  And why did the Lt. Governor refuse Miller’s repeated requests that he be allowed, at his own cost, to conduct a hand count?

By Brad Friedman

It could be one of the most disturbing e-voting machine hacks to date.

Voting machines used by as many as a quarter of American voters heading to the polls in 2012 can be hacked with just $10.50 in parts and an 8th grade science education, according to computer science and security experts at the Vulnerability Assessment Team at Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois. The experts say the newly developed hack could change voting results while leaving absolutely no trace of the manipulation behind.

“We believe these man-in-the-middle attacks are potentially possible on a wide variety of electronic voting machines,” said Roger Johnston, leader of the assessment team “We think we can do similar things on pretty much every electronic voting machine.”

The Argonne Lab, run by the Department of Energy, has the mission of conducting scientific research to meet national needs. The Diebold Accuvote voting system used in the study was loaned to the lab’s scientists by VelvetRevolution.us, of which the Brad Blog is a co-founder. Velvet Revolution received the machine from a former Diebold contractor

Previous lab demonstrations of e-voting system hacks, such as Princeton’s demonstration of a viral cyber attack on a Diebold touch-screen system — as I wrote for Salon back in 2006 — relied on cyber attacks to change the results of elections. Such attacks, according to the team at Argonne, require more coding skills and knowledge of the voting system software than is needed for the attack on the Diebold system.

Indeed, the Argonne team’s attack required no modification, reprogramming, or even knowledge, of the voting machine’s proprietary source code. It was carried out by inserting a piece of inexpensive “alien electronics” into the machine.

Doug Casey: How to Prepare for ‘When Money Dies’

An eye-opening interview with renowned speculator Doug Casey, conducted by Karen Roche and JT Long of The Gold Report. Doug explains why fiat currencies around the world are destined for collapse… and what investors can, and should, do to protect themselves.

If dollar-dumping turns from a trickle into a flood, look out. Exploding prices (aka exorbitant inflation) resulting from the devaluation of the dollar will compound the problems we saw in 2007–2009. Catastrophe will come when everybody realizes that the dollar is an “IOU nothing.” That’s the downside in the decade(s) ahead, according to Casey Research Chairman Doug Casey. But an optimist at heart, in this exclusive interview with The Gold Report, Doug also identifies some reasons to be hopeful.

The Gold Report: You’ve been talking about two ticking time bombs. One is the trillions of dollars owned outside the U.S. that investors could dump if they lose confidence. And the other is the trillions of dollars within the U.S. that were created to paper over the crisis that started in 2007. Are these really explosive circumstances that will bring catastrophic results? Or will it just result in a huge, but manageable, hangover?

Doug Casey: Both, but in sequence. One thing that’s for sure is that although the epicenter of this crisis will be the U.S., it’s going to have truly worldwide effects. The U.S. dollar is the de jure national currency of at least three other countries, and the de facto national currency of about 50 others. The main U.S. export for many years has been paper dollars; in exchange, the nice foreigners send us Mercedes cars, Sony electronics, cocaine, coffee—and about everything you see on Walmart shelves. It has been a one-way street for several decades, a free ride—but the party’s over.

Nobody knows the numbers for sure, but foreign central banks, and individuals outside the U.S., own U.S. dollars to the tune of something like $6 or $7 trillion. Especially during the recent crisis, the Fed created trillions more dollars to bail out the big financial institutions. At some point, foreign dollar holders will start dumping them; they are starting to realize this is like a game of Old Maid, with the dollar being the Old Maid card. I don’t know what will set it off, but the markets are already very nervous about it. This nervousness is demonstrated in gold having hit $1,900 an ounce, copper at all-time highs, oil at $100 a barrel—the boom in commodity prices.

EPA To Shut Down 20% Of Coal Plants By 2012

Susan Kraemer, a columnist for the “green” web site Technica, is encouraged that the EPA is going to gut the coal industry by shutting down 20% of the plants by 2012.

According to Kraemer, the EPA will shut down these plants by imposing a ground-level ozone rule (the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR). It is estimated that the cost of this rule will amount to $130 billion. Kraemer is thrilled about it.

In fact, she thinks this will be a great boon for our economy because it will be a bonanza for environmental industries. Yes. Destroy our vibrant energy base and provide billions to fund leftist green wackos. That’s liberal logic for you.

She has subscribed to the liberal nonsense that conservatives have termed the “broken window fallacy.” This fallacy was explained years ago by economist Henry Hazlitt in Economics In One Lesson. The theory goes like this: If a vandal breaks a window in a bakery, it may be bad for the baker, but it is great news for the window installer. So, according to liberal thinking, the more windows that are broken, the better it is for everyone. The broken window may benefit the window installer, but the baker hasn’t benefitted. He gets his window replaced, but he has lost money he would have used to buy bakery products from others in the community so he can make cakes and donuts. But, according to Hazlitt, liberals like Kraemer don’t see the unseen damage that is done to a community when vandals break windows.

Kraemer doesn’t apparently care about the severe economic destruction that will take place in America if 20% of our coal plants are shut down by 2012. How many blackouts or brownouts will occur because of EPA’s overregulation? How many jobs will be lost? How many families will be destroyed? These are the unseen consequences of shutting down coal plants. But, of course, liberals like Kraemer can only see the benefit that this will be to the radical green movement’s effort to take down our economic system.
