Why I Believe in the Resurrected Christ

In our “enlightened” scientific era, many people express disdain for a belief system founded on a Man who was raised from the dead. This is especially true of younger generations in this country whose lack of faith has reached an all-time high.

Why have many younger Americans rejected Christianity? There are a number of factors ranging from near-consistent negative portrayals of Christians in Hollywood to an educational system hostile to faith. Science seems to hold all the answers.

Not so fast, I say. What if this Man who claimed to be the exclusive “Way, the Truth, and the Life” was brutally crucified and then miraculously raised from the dead days later? That wouldn’t fit very well with the secularists’ worldview, would it? But the evidence surrounding His resurrection is, as a judge might put it, “beyond all reasonable doubt.”

My family and I were privileged to visit the Holy Land a few years ago. Before arriving in Israel, we stopped at the Vatican just several days after Pope Benedict XVI resigned. We visited the final resting place of Peter’s bones, interred after his upside down crucifixion for refusing to deny Christ.

Of course, it wasn’t just Peter who died a terrible death rather than denying Christ; it was also all but one of his fellow apostles who were direct witnesses to Jesus’ resurrection. According to several accounts, Thomas died after being speared; Matthew was killed by a sword; James (the lesser) was thrown off the temple in Jerusalem and then clubbed to death; the other James was killed by a sword; Andrew was bound to a cross; Bartholomew was beaten and beheaded; Jude, Philip, and Simon were all crucified; Mark died after being drug by horses; and Luke was hung.

The apostles all claimed they saw Jesus resurrected after His brutal scourging and crucifixion. Paul, a Jewish Roman citizen who viciously persecuted Christians before his radical transformation by Christ on the road to Damascus had this to say:

And if Christ has not been raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your faith is useless. And we apostles would all be lying about God—for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave. 1 Cor. 15:14-15 NLT

After Christ’s resurrection, these apostles moved rapidly throughout the world, spreading the Gospel like wildfire from India to Africa and throughout Europe. Then, rather than denying Jesus, they each suffered horrific deaths, the ultimate proof of what they had seen.

Eyewitness testimony like this is ironclad. But it’s not just the apostles’ dying declarations that allow us to put our faith in Christ’s resurrection; it’s the power of the Resurrection working within us, changing our hearts, and moving us forward in His will, no matter the cost.

Lesbian Couple Drives Entire Adopted Family off California Cliff

By The Daily Mail. The lesbian mothers who died on Monday along with at least three of their six adopted children after plunging 100ft over a coastal cliff in California had been reported to Child Protective Services days earlier for allegedly starving their kids.

On Friday, neighbors of Jennifer and Sarah Hart, both 39, called CPS to report that their son Devonte had come to their home asking for food every day for a week.

They said Devonte – who made national headlines when he was pictured hugging a police officer during a 2014 protest – asked them to leave food out in a box for him and said his mothers were ‘punishing’ him by not feeding him. . .

On Friday, a CPS worker arrived at the home and knocked on the door, according to the neighbors Bruce and Dana DeKalb, but the Harts never answered.

Instead, they packed up in a hurry and fled with all six kids in their 2003 GMC Sierra truck, they said. (Read more from “Lesbian Couple Drives Entire Adopted Family off California Cliff” HERE)

Family of 8 That’s Feared Dead After SUV Plunged off Cliff Had Troubled Home Life, Neighbors Say

By The Washington Post. What happened to the Hart family Monday is almost unimaginable: Their SUV plunged off a Pacific Coast Highway cliff, crashing onto the rocky coast 100 feet below.

Some things are certain, according to authorities. The married couple, Jennifer Jean Hart and Sarah Margaret Hart, both 38, were killed. So were three of their six adopted children: Martin, 19; Abigail, 14; and Jeremiah, 14.

But much remains unknown, including the fates of the Harts’ three other children — Hannah, 16; Devonte, 15; and Sierra, 12. They are feared dead; authorities say they have “every indication to believe” that all six children were in the family’s 2003 GMC Yukon when it drove off an ocean overlook near Mendocino, Calif., about 150 miles north of San Francisco . . .

The visit is part of a troubling narrative about what went on inside the Harts’ home. Court documents show that in 2011, when Sarah Hart lived in Minnesota, she was convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault. In Woodland, some of the Harts’ neighbors were concerned about the children’s well-being. Watch: Russia Releases Video Claiming to Be Another Test of Deadly New Nuclear Capacity

The Russian defense ministry released a video Friday of what Moscow claims is the second test of the nuclear-capable Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, a weapon designed to render American defenses “useless.”

The RS-28 Sarmat, a superheavy liquid-fueled ICBM built to replace the Soviet-era Voyevoda, was launched at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in Archangel Province, Russia. The test, the exact date of which is unknown, is reportedly the second test of the Sarmat-2 since testing began in December last year.

The Sarmat is a MIRV-equipped missile believed to be capable of carrying 10 to 15 thermonuclear warheads. The weapon has been in development by the Makeyev Rocket Design Bureau since 2009, but the weapon is expected to be mass produced in 2020 and made operational the following year, according to state media reports.

Russian President Vladimir Putin personally praised the missile at a speech to Federal Assembly in Moscow earlier this month. He said that the new Sarmat ICBM is so “formidable” it “has practically no distance limits” and “none of the perspective anti-ballistic missile systems pose an obstacle to it.” Putin suggested that the missile could be armed with supersonic warheads and defense countermeasures to skirt ABM systems. The weapon is designed to devastate an area the size of Texas.

“I would like to tell those who have been trying to escalate the arms race for the past 15 years, gain unilateral advantages over Russia, and introduce unlawful restrictions and sanctions to hinder our country’s development … you have failed to contain Russia,” Putin said in a televised address. “No one listened to us, but you will listen to us now.” (Read more from “Russia Releases Video Claiming to Be Another Test of Deadly New Nuclear Capacity” HERE)

Did Withheld Information Help Acquit Pulse Shooter’s Wife?

Noor Salman, the wife of a terrorist who killed 49 people in the name of ISIS at an Orlando nightclub in 2016, has been found not guilty of charges connecting her to her husband’s jihadi rampage against innocents.

For well over a year, prosecutors have been making the case that she knew about Omar Mateen’s plans to attack the location, but did not attempt to stop him or alert police. Her defense team, however, claimed that she was abused by her husband and that she has a low IQ, rendering her not responsible for her actions as alleged by prosecutors.

The jury did not agree with the prosecutors. After three days of deliberations, the jury acquitted her on charges of obstruction and providing material support to a terrorist organization (ISIS).

It was revealed this week that prosecutors had withheld key information pertaining to the case, calling into question the evidence that has emerged over the past couple of years.

We learned that Seddique Mateen, the father of shooter Omar Mateen, had been an FBI informant from 2005 to 2016. In calling attention to the bombshell, Salman’s team made the case for a mistrial, which was denied by the judge presiding over the case. In continuing the case, the judge claimed that “it does not change the dynamic of whether Noor Salman aided and abetted.”

It’s unclear whether the Seddique Mateen information affected the outcome of the case, but it certainly helped the defense by calling into question the legitimacy of the prosecutors’ arguments.

For well over a year, prosecutors have been making the case that Salman played an integral role in plotting the attack. Before the terrorist attack, Salman reportedly drove with Mateen two hours to Orlando to case several sites, including Disney World and the LGBT nightclub.

In an interview with the New York Times, Salman admitted that she saw Mateen watching jihadist videos. Officials who secured Mateen’s electronic records said he frequently watched ISIS propaganda videos and radical sermons by the deceased al Qaeda preacher Anwar al-Awlaki.

Salman was with Mateen when he stocked up on ammunition, law enforcement officials told NBC News. Additionally, CBS reported that law enforcement had video footage from the ammo buy.

And before conducting the terrorist attack, which resulted in his death, Mateen added Salman to his life insurance policy and gave her access to his bank accounts, according to reports.

But all of that evidence couldn’t convince the jury of Salman’s guilt as a co-conspirator, after the bombshell revelation that the FBI had worked with the terrorist’s father as a paid informant for over a decade. Illegal Aliens Arrested in Oregon County’s Biggest-Ever Meth Bust

Two men who were arrested earlier this month for transporting more than 70 pounds of methamphetamine through Oregon are Mexican nationals living in the U.S. illegally, The Daily Caller News Foundation learned.

Israel Mercado Mendoza of Creswell, Ore., and Rigoberto Morfin Pedroza of Los Angeles were arrested March 17 following a traffic stop on Interstate 5 in Douglas County, Ore. During the stop, a police dog signaled the presence of drugs in the car. A subsequent search led to the discovery of 74 pounds of meth, the largest seizure in county history, according to the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team.

Mercado Mendoza and Morfin Pedroza are illegal immigrants, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials. They were taken into custody and detained at the Douglas County Jail, where federal authorities placed immigration detention requests for both men.

“On March 19, ICE lodged detainers on Israel Salvador Mercado-Mendoza and Rigoberto Morfin-Pedroza, both citizens of Mexico illegally in the U.S., with the Douglas County Jail after their arrests on local felony charges,” an ICE spokeswoman told David Olen Cross, an independent crime researcher based in Salem, Ore.

Cross obtained the men’s immigration status as a part of his research into Oregon illegal aliens’ criminal activity, he told TheDCNF. On behalf of Republican state Sen. Kim Thatcher, Cross creates monthly reports using data from ICE and the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC). His reports are aimed at documenting the cost of incarcerating foreign nationals in the Oregon prison system, where one in 15 inmates is a criminal alien. 13-Year-Old Runs for Governor as a Democrat to Ban Semi-Automatic Firearms

By The Daily Wire. A teenager in Vermont is running for governor as a Democrat because he wants to ban semi-automatic weapons, saying that the state “needs” far-left gun control.

Ethan Sonneborn, 13, participated in the March For Our Lives event earlier this month to protest against gun violence, NBC 5 reported.

“My generation has been taking an important step in this because we’re the ones were getting shot,” Sonneborn told the network. “This affects us directly and people who say it can’t happen in Vermont, we came this close to it happening in Vermont. It will happen in Vermont if we don’t take action.” (Read more from “13-Year-Old Runs for Governor as a Democrat to Ban Semi-Automatic Firearms” HERE)

13-Year-Old Gubernatorial Candidate Supports Tougher Gun Laws

By NBC. An unlikely candidate for Vermont governor says he would sign legislation to tighten the state’s gun laws if he held the top office.

Ethan Sonneborn, 13, of Bristol, is running as a Democrat in 2018.

He said he took part in his school’s walk out earlier this month against gun violence.

“My generation has been taking an important step in this because we’re the ones were getting shot,” Sonneborn said. “This affects us directly and people who say it can’t happen in Vermont, we came this close to it happening in Vermont. It will happen in Vermont if we don’t take action.” . . .

The current legislation being debated in Montpelier would raise the minimum age to buy a gun from 18 to 21, limit the capacity of gun magazines, strengthen background checks and ban bump-stocks. (Read more from “13-Year-Old Gubernatorial Candidate Supports Tougher Gun Laws” HERE)

Twitter Rips ‘Bully’ Chelsea Handler for Mocking White House Spokesman Sarah Sanders’ Looks in Video

By The Daily Wire. When unfunny comedian Chelsea Handler announced in October that she was leaving her unfunny show on Netflix, she said she wanted to “devote as much time as I can to becoming a more knowledgeable and engaged citizen and to focus on projects that have significance to me.”

Apparently, she’s decided that she can “participate in a more meaningful way” by shaming other women for their appearances and their weight.

Handler posted a video on Twitter that shows an actress pretending to be White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders giving tips on how to apply makeup. The four-minute video contains hilarious lines like this: “Right now my skin is dry, just like Puerto Rico before that one rainy day!”

Obama Judges Rule That 40-Foot Cross Monument Honoring Soldiers Killed in World War I Is ‘Unconstitutional’

It is quite possible that the greatest legacy of President Trump may be his tremendous success in changing the face of the American judiciary, as his record-setting performance in getting conservative jurists into the judiciary has been nothing less than stellar.

To understand how vital Trump’s actions have been, consider this: the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals recently refused to reconsider a 2-1 ruling of a 4th Circuit panel last fall that ruled the World War I memorial Peace Cross in Bladensburg, Maryland, was “unconstitutional.”

Never mind, as The Daily Signal pointed out, that the 40-foot cross had stood there since 1925, funded by the American Legion and local families in 1925; never mind that the cross features a plaque listing the names of 49 Prince George’s County men who were killed in World War I; the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against the cross.

And here’s the key point: six of the eight judges that ruled against the cross were appointed by Barack Obama. The ruling was ultimately 8 to 6 against reconsidering the original court’s ruling. In addition, the two judges, Stephanie D. Thacker and James A. Wynn, who comprised the 2-1 majority in the October ruling, were put on the bench by Obama . . .

The court ruling against the cross found that because the upkeep and repairs of the monument are the responsibility of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, that “has the primary effect of endorsing religion and excessively entangles the government in religion.” (Read more from “Obama Judges Rule That 40-Foot Cross Monument Honoring Soldiers Killed in World War I Is ‘Unconstitutional'” HERE)

Researchers Just Made a Terrifying Discovery in the Cellphone-Cancer Risk

By The Blaze. For years, researchers have questioned if excessive cellphone use is linked to cancer.

Millions of people every day are constantly connected to their phones – making calls, texting, taking pictures, and surfing social media. Even cellular radiation experts can have a hard time disconnecting.

But a new study suggests cellphone use can increase the chance of developing cancer, KDKA-TV reported. Studies from France and Italy had similar findings.

The issue is especially timely as 5G, a new and stronger broadband, is expected to come online later this year.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences at Research Triangle Park in North Carolina recently hosted a panel of the world’s top experts to review findings from a $25 million study on cellphones and cancer, according to WNCN-TV. Can Cellphones Cause Cancer? Experts Surprised by Latest Tests

By CBS. Can cellphones really cause cancer? It’s been a question that’s dogged researchers for years.

The panel voted that the results from years of testing on mice and rats were more significant than originally thought.

They say they found clear evidence that phone radiation caused tumors in the hearts of rats, which were similar to tumors in people.

“In humans, it’s seen in the vestibular nerve, in the ear, the acoustic nerve. We found it in the heart, although our animals were exposed in their whole body condition,” John Bucher said.

“While a given animal is not making a cellphone call, they are, throughout their short two-year lifetime getting the same exposure that we expect people to get in their 70-plus years of life,” Dr. Devra Davis, of Environmental Health Trust, said. Hillary Clinton Says Everyone Who Tells Her This Is Being Sexist

By The Blaze. Former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton decried what she saw as sexist remarks from many who were telling her to “go away” after her shocking loss to Donald Trump in the 2016 election . . .

Clinton made the comments before an audience at Rutgers University Thursday.

“I was really struck how people said that to me, you know, mostly people in the press for whatever reason, you know, ‘go away go away,’” she told the audience of about 5,000.

“And I had one of the young people who works for me go back and a bit of research. They never said that to any man who was not elected,” she added, implying that the criticism was coming from a sexist sentiment.

By CNN. . .Ruth Mandel, director of the university’s Eagleton Institute of Politics, had asked Clinton what her response has been to people who call for her “‘get off the public stage and shut up.'”
“They never said that to any man who was not elected,” Clinton said. “I was kind of struck by that.”

She went on to reference former presidential contenders who had lost their bid for the White House but did not shrink away from political discussion.

“I’m really glad that, you know, Al Gore didn’t stop talking about climate change,” Clinton said of the former Democratic vice president who ran for president in 2000.

She continued, “And I’m really glad John Kerry went to the Senate and became an excellent secretary of state.”

“And I’m really glad John McCain kept speaking out and standing up and saying what he had to say,” Clinton said of the Arizona Republican. (Read more from “Hillary Clinton Cites Sexism in Criticism She Should Exit Political Stage” HERE)
