DHS Secretary Issues a Stern Warning About the Election

By The Blaze. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen issued a stern warning Tuesday to Russia about meddling in U.S. elections, and said that her department was in “crisis mode” over cybersecurity. . .

Nielsen was addressing an audience at a cybersecurity summit when she directly addressed the assessment by the U.S. intelligence community that Russia had interfered in the 2016 election. . .

“Two years ago, as we all know,” she continued, “a foreign power launched a brazen multi-faceted influence campaign to undermine public faith in our democratic process, and to distort our presidential election.”

“That campaign was multi-faceted – it involved cyber-espionage, leaks of stolen data, cyber-intrusions into voter registrations systems, online propaganda and more,” she added. . .

Former Lobbyist Tony Podesta, Others Under Investigation by Federal Prosecutors Over Alleged Foreign Work

By NBC News. Former lobbyist Tony Podesta, Mercury Public Affairs partner and former Minnesota Republican Rep. Vin Weber and former Obama White House Counsel Greg Craig are all under federal investigation by prosecutors for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, multiple sources with knowledge of the matter told NBC News on Tuesaday.

Those sources say this months-long investigation in New York follows a referral from the Special Counsel’s Office.

The existence of this particular probe was first reported by CNN, which characterized the investigation as looking into whether lobbyists and operatives failed to register their work as foreign agents. None of the people identified as being investigated have been charged with any crime.

In October, NBC News was the first to report that Democratic lobbyist Tony Podesta and the Podesta Group were being investigated by Mueller’s office.

Tony Podesta is the chairman of the Podesta Group and the brother of John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s former presidential campaign chairman. John Podesta is not currently affiliated with the Podesta Group and is not part of the investigation. The Bible Trump’s New VA Secretary Chose to Be Sworn in on Tells You Everything You Need to Know

Robert Wilkie is the proud son of an Army veteran, an artillery officer raised on the base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. That’s a great place. On his daily walk to high school with the woman who is now his wife, he passed by the Fayetteville VA hospital, which bore the inscription: “The Price of Freedom is Visible Here.” It made a big impact. It was a price Robert saw firsthand through his own father, who was gravely injured in combat during the Vietnam War.

Robert went on to serve as an officer in both the Air Force and the Navy, then as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs, and as Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. Robert also serves with distinction as Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Wilkie produced a worn-looking Bible. The Bible had an incredible story to it, which Wilkie shared with his audience.

“The Bible that I will take my oath on reminds me of the 100th anniversary of the end of the war to end all wars,” Wilkie said, referring to WW1, “It was a Bible taken into battle by my wife’s grandfather who had probably never ventured beyond three or four counties in North and South Carolina. 11-Time Deportee Sentenced for Attacking Women in Sanctuary Oregon

An illegal alien was sentenced to eight years in federal prison Monday for re-entering the United States illegally after previously being deported no less than 11 times.

Sergio Jose Martinez was arrested by police last year after he attacked two women in Portland, Ore., just one week after he had been released from jail where he was held for interfering with police and providing a false birthdate, the Associated Press reports.

In December, he was sentenced to 35 years in state prison for those attacks, pleading guilty to sodomy, kidnapping, sex abuse, and other charges.

Oregon was the first state in the nation to adopt “sanctuary state” policies, passing a law in 1987 that prevents law enforcement from detaining illegal immigrants who have not broken other U.S. laws. Law enforcement officials say that because of Oregon’s sanctuary state policy, police were forced to release Martinez, enabling him to commit his violent crimes. U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had issued an immigration detainer asking Oregon police to hold Martinez in jail, but he was ordered to be released by a court.

“He was released consistent with the orders of the court. No federal or state criminal warrants were present at the time he left our custody,” Sheriff Michael Reese said at the time.

Sanctuary state policies prevented this evil man from being held by police until ICE could deport him.

Report: Iran Increased Persecution of Christians in July

The Iranian government’s persecution of Christians increased over the past month, according to information gathered by the nonprofit International Christian Concern.

Earlier this month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani claimed Christians have the same rights as others do in Iran. Despite the claim, a report from ICC, a Washington-based nonprofit that assists religious minorities from persecution through assistance, advocacy, and awareness, points to evidence from the month of July showing Christians have been targeted by the Iranian regime. Eight believers faced judicial action, “a noteworthy increase of publicized cases of Christian persecution in Iran,” according to ICC.

The report highlighted cases of Christians held by the government. On July 2, intelligence forces arrested and detained Massoumeh Taqinejad and her son. She was charged with proselytizing on the Internet. A couple weeks later, Ramiel Bet Tamraz received a four month prison sentence for allegedly acting against national security. In the following days and weeks, the report includes five others who were arrested, detained, or tried in court.

Christian Solidarity Worldwide, another organization dedicated to supporting Christians suffering persecution, issued a statement that observed, “as the Iranian regime has grown more unpopular and citizens have become more vocal in their criticism of corruption in official circles, the government has become increasingly reliant on the support of hard-line ayatollahs, who favour increased pressure on religious minorities.”

Similarly, ICC’s regional manager, Claire Evans, said “the persecution of Christians in Iran is increasingly building as the regime struggles to maintain its grip over the hearts and minds of its citizenry.” (Read more from “Report: Iran Increased Persecution of Christians in July” HERE)

Ben Shapiro Wrecks Ocasio-Cortez in Bombshell ‘Interview’

. . .As disastrous as Ocasio-Cortez’s performance was, it did have the redeeming quality of giving conservative commentator Ben Shapiro ammunition for his own satirical interview with the Democrat candidate for Congress in New York’s 14th Congressional District.

And the reception for Shapiro’s satirical “interview” said more about Ocasio-Cortez’s candidacy than a hundred thumbsucking sit-downs with the establishment media ever will.

If a Democrat “It” girl can’t make it through a series of softball questions from a liberal host with a liberal audience like Trevor Noah and “The Daily Show” without embarrassing herself, she wouldn’t have a prayer against a conservative who was really trying to do damage. (Hoover showed a lot of class on PBS.)

Ocasio-Cortez is, unfortunately, probably a lock to win her race in New York, in a district where Republicans are so rare as to be an endangered species. But her real use to liberals diminishes with her every turn in the public eye.

Inmates Deliver Brutal Prison Justice to Jihadist Wanting to Murder Children

. . .As such, it was no great surprise to learn that a convicted terrorist who had threatened violence against the young royal prince in the United Kingdom received a bit of “prison justice” from unknown assailants who were incarcerated with him.

According to The U.K. Sun, a 32-year-old self-proclaimed follower of the Islamic State group was allegedly assaulted in prison and slashed with a makeshift knife by at least one other inmate who has yet to be identified by authorities.

That terrorist’s name is Husnain Rashid and he is currently serving three concurrent life sentences after he confessed to three counts of “engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts,” as well as a four-and-a-half year sentence for “encouraging terrorism” among jihadists, according to the Sun.

Rashid initially ran into trouble after he shared images online of the 4-year-old Prince George of the British royal family family next to an anonymous jihadist fighter with a message that read: “Even the royal family will not be left alone.” . . .

According to the U.K. Daily Star, Rashid was attacked on Wednesday, June 25, by at least one other inmate at the Manchester Strangeways prison who used a toothbrush with a blade attached to it to slash a huge gash on or near Rashid’s right ear, likely due to his threats against the young prince. Trump Fired Back Hard After the Koch Network Says It Won’t Endorse as Many Republicans

After Koch network political organization Americans for Prosperity announced it wouldn’t support the Republican candidate in a key Senate race, President Donald Trump fired back on Twitter on Tuesday morning.

Trump tore into the powerful Koch brothers, saying he didn’t need their support or money for political success. . .

Tim Phillips, the president of Americans for Prosperity, singled out Rep. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) as an example of the type of Republican the organization would no longer be supporting, saying his record on financial issues was inconsistent. . .

Trump’s response to the Koch network criticism of GOP lawmakers was to say the Koch brothers were overrated and not respected by “real” Republicans.

“I never sought their support because I don’t need their money or bad ideas,” Trump wrote. “They love my Tax & Regulation Cuts, Judicial picks & more. I made them richer. Their network is highly overrated, I have beaten them at every turn. They want to protect their companies outside the U.S. from being taxed, I’m for America First & the American Worker — a puppet for no one. Two nice guys with bad ideas. Man Changes Gender on Birth Certificate for Cheaper Car Insurance

Members of the transgender community are angry over a Canadian man’s move to legally change his gender to female on his birth certificate and driver’s license in order to get cheaper automobile insurance, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported.

While the 24-year-old Alberta man — referred to as “David” by CBC News to protect his identity — said he made the gender switch to save just over $1,000 annually on insurance, some transgenders said it was “stunt” that “cheapens” their cause. . .

It used to be that Albertans had to produce a doctor’s note to switch gender markers on their personal documents, the CBC said. But in June the government halted that requirement for adults, which opened the door to simply mark their genders as M, F or X — the latter being for those who don’t fit into male or female binaries, the network said. . .

While “David” told the network he didn’t mean disrespect to the trans community and only wanted to save money, Marni Panas isn’t sympathizing.

“Whether he says, ‘I didn’t mean to do harm to the trans community,’ is irrelevant because the impact is very real to a community that is already quite vulnerable,” Panas, a transgender woman, told the CBC. “And he lied, so that really speaks to this person’s integrity. Police Under Fire for Fatal Shooting of Black Man; New Report Reveals Suspect Shot at Officers

Leftist activists, with help from the media, have attempted to frame the fatal police shooting of an armed convicted felon, who happens to be a black male, fleeing Minneapolis officers as racially motivated. But the released video footage from the June incident and a new investigative report from Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman reveals that the felon shot at officers before he was fired at. . .

In the released footage of the incident, suspect Thurman Blevins is shown in possession of a firearm. “I don’t know the exact seconds of shots, but as Blevins’ gun comes around you’ll see he fired, it hits the pavement in the alley, the round hits the pavement right in the direction of Officer Kelly,” explained Mr. Kroll, according to KMSP News.

This assertion is backed up by an investigative report that revealed a bullet casing from Mr. Blevins’ gun was recovered. “One brass cartridge case was recovered near Mr. Blevins’ body (later determined to have been fired by Mr. Blevins’ gun),” says the report. . .

“The Federation maintained from the start that the officers’ actions during this incident were heroic. The body camera footage exemplifies this,” he said. “The officers did exactly what the public expects them to do. They responded to a 911 call of someone shooting a gun. They located the suspect, gave numerous orders for him to comply, pursued the suspect as he fled. They were forced to fire at the suspect only after he pointed a gun and fired at the officers. The officers deserve Minneapolis Police Department’s highest award, the Medal of Honor, and they deserve the respect of the population they are sworn to protect.”

Watch: ICE Official Has to Explain to Democrat Senator That Illegal Aliens Break the Law

By The Daily Wire. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official had to explain to a Democrat senator during a hearing on Tuesday that illegal aliens are illegal aliens because they have broken federal immigration laws.

Matthew T. Albence, Executive Associate Director for Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) at ICE had to inform Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI) that illegal aliens face prosecution because they have broken the law. . .

“They have broken a law but only as deemed so by the president with his –” Hirono tried to claim.

“No ma’am,” Albence fired back. “They are there for violation of Title 8 of the U.S. Nationality Act. Okay. U.S.C. 1325. That’s illegal entry is both a criminal and civil violation. They are in those FRCs pending the outcome of that civil immigration process. They have broken the law. ”

ICE Agents Accuse Oregon Mayor of Abetting ‘Abolish ICE’ Protesters

By Fox News. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents on Monday accused an Oregon mayor of violating the Constitution after emboldening “Abolish ICE” protesters by ordering the police to stand down and openly expressing support for their cause.

The accusations were outlined in a cease-and-desist letter sent to Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, saying he actively encouraged the protesters and their cause, while making sure Portland’s police wouldn’t crack down on them, thus creating “a zone of terror and lawlessness,” the Washington Times reported.

“When the mayor gave the order that police would not support ICE employees trapped in the facility, he turned the lives of our employees over to an angry mob,” Chris Crane, president of the National ICE Council, the organization that sent the cease-and-desist letter, told the newspaper.

The letter demands Wheeler to make an apology and ensure the city’s police will protect all citizens in need, including those working for a federal agency. A letter advises that the city could be sued if the mayor’s response isn’t adequate.

“The mayor stated publicly that he supported the protests, which were supposed to be about protecting immigrant families. But what about the moms and dads that we had working in that building?
