Twist in Case Against Viral Truck Driver Sentenced to 110 Years for Deadly Crash

A Colorado district attorney asked a judge on Monday to consider reducing the 110-year prison sentence of a truck driver for an explosive crash that killed four people in suburban Denver.

Prosecutors and attorneys representing 26-year-old Rogel Aguilera-Mederos were in court for a status hearing on Monday morning, when a re-sentencing hearing was set for Jan. 13, 2022, to consider the possible sentence change.

The 110-year sentence has drawn outrage from around the country and among truckers, with around 5 million people signing an online petition seeking clemency for him.

Last week, District Attorney Alexis King said in a statement she would seek a term of 20 to 30 years in the 2019 wreck on Interstate 70 west of Denver — a sentencing range that reflects an “appropriate outcome” for Aguilera-Mederos’ conduct.

“As the jury found, Mr. Aguilera-Mederos knowingly made multiple active choices that resulted in the death of four people, serious injuries to others, and mass destruction,” King said. (Read more from “Twist in Case Against Viral Truck Driver Sentenced to 110 Years for Deadly Crash” HERE)

How Puerto Rico Became a Tax Haven for High-Flying Crypto Millionaires

. . .Many of them are here thanks to a near-irresistible combo — of legal and financial incentives, great weather and a critical mass of cryptocurrency gurus — that has been transforming the island like a gold rush. The surge is helping reshape Puerto Rico into America’s homegrown answer to Dubai. . .

Both Comm and Yoshino came here for crypto gigs. He is a self-employed entrepreneur and podcast host, while she helps run the Puerto Rico Blockchain Trade Association, which hosted a week-long shindig in early December, timed for jetsetters to bounce down to the island after Art Basel Miami.

Among the boldfaced names on-island full-time are controversial YouTuber Logan Paul — who started his own NFT trading game, CryptoZoo and who is reportedly splashing out $55,000 per month on a home — and Facebook whistleblower Frances Haugen. She admitted she’d decamped to the Enchanted Isle from Silicon Valley earlier this year and has she’s been living off crypto investments. . .

One way they could have scored such primo investments? Slashing taxes and red tape, a tactic that Puerto Rico has followed with gusto. Put simply, thanks to changes in the law, which are lumped together and known as Act 60, you can live there and keep two things: both your American passport and huge chunks of your earnings that Uncle Sam would otherwise grab.

Spend 183 days on-island each year, and you’re free of taxes on capital gains. If you operate a firm that exports its services from Puerto Rico — say, as a crypto consultant — you’ll pay a paltry 4 percent corporate tax rate. No wonder crypto types, already wary of centralized oversight and focused on cashing in fast and rich, have flocked here. Flights Canceled After Christmas Day Due to COVID

Hundreds of flights have been canceled across the U.S. as the Omicron COVID-19 variant strikes down plane crews and workers over the Christmas weekend.

As of Sunday morning, some 633 flights within, into or outside the U.S. were canceled, according to the data tracking website FlightAware.

The data tracking website added that 531 flights into, out of or within the U.S. had been delayed.

Companies blamed the number of cancellations on the number of staff who had become infected with COVID-19 over the Christmas weekend and, therefore, had called in sick. (Read more from “Flights Canceled After Christmas Day Due to COVID” HERE)

More Believe In Cheating in 2020 Election, Hit ‘Zuckerbucks’

Angered by growing reports that Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg steered vote-generating donations to pro-Biden counties, more voters believe that cheating occurred in the 2020 elections.

Shoving aside repeated liberal media dismissals of cheating claims, those who believe it occurred increased from 56% in October to 59% in the latest Rasmussen Reports poll previewed for Secrets.

Asked “How likely is it that cheating affected the outcome of the 2020 presidential election?” just 36% said unlikely. What’s more, the largest group, at 40%, said that cheating was “very likely.”

Former President Donald Trump has suggested he was cheated. The media, Democrats, and President Joe Biden have dismissed those claims. (Read more from “More Believe In Cheating in 2020 Election, Hit ‘Zuckerbucks’” HERE)

CNN Admits: ‘President Biden Seems Confused’ (VIDEO)

Even a CNN reporter is admitting that President Joe Biden “seems confused.”

Biden gave an interview to ABC’s “World News Tonight” anchor David Muir last week. During the interview, Muir asked the 79-year-old Biden, “If you look out across the country, you see it everywhere, these long lines, people waiting for hours outside in the cold, just to get tested, to be reassured before they spend time with their family. If you go to the pharmacy, we hear this over and over again, empty shelves, no test kits. Is that a failure?”

“I don’t think it’s a failure,” Biden responded. “I think it’s – you could argue that we should have known a year ago, six months ago, two months ago, a month ago.” . . .

CNN correspondent Jeff Zeleny highlighted the gaffe during an appearance on the “Situation Room” TV program.

“Repeatedly throughout this interview with David Muir, which was recorded this afternoon, President Biden seems confused and was confusing the half a billion tests that they’ve ordered with a half a billion pills,” Zeleny stated. “And, of course, pills were in the news today with the Pfizer approval of the antiviral, so he corrected himself, but that was one thing that stuck out to me. Extremist ‘1619 Project’ Creator Says Parents Shouldn’t Decide What’s Being Taught to Their Children in School

Nikole Hannah-Jones — the creator of the highly criticized “1619 Project” — proclaimed that parents shouldn’t decide what’s being taught to their children in school.

During a “Meet the Press” appearance on Sunday, Hannah-Jones opined on how much parents’ should be allowed in shaping the curriculum of students. Her commentary was in reference to Republican Glenn Youngkin’s victory in the Virginia gubernatorial race. Youngkin made education a cornerstone during his winning campaign and declared that critical race theory should not be part of the academic curriculum.

Host Chuck Todd asked, “The Virginia’s governor’s race was arguably decided on the strength of how influential should parents be on curriculum? How do we do this?”

“Well, I would say the governor’s race in Virginia was decided based on the success of a right-wing propaganda campaign that told white parents that they needed to fight against their children being indoctrinated as race — as being called racists,” Hannah-Jones replied without providing any evidence for her claim. “But that was a propaganda campaign.”

“And I don’t really understand this idea that parents should decide what’s being taught,” Hannah-Jones continued. (Read more from “Extremist ‘1619 Project’ Creator Says Parents Shouldn’t Decide What’s Being Taught to Their Children in School” HERE)

Women Inmates Seek Help as Law Allows ‘Trans Women’ to Share Spaces in Prisons

Female inmates in California prisons are seeking relief after a new California law allows biological men to be housed at women’s detention centers in the state based on their “gender identity.”

The letter from inside a prison said in part:

So we want to know if you can possible send a copy of the policy and procedures for the screening process of these men coming here. They are getting caught having sex already yesterday a girl was s*ucking a mans d**k on the main yard. WTF? … This is not safe for us.

The law, SB132, is designed to allow prisoners being admitted to prison according to the sex they want to live as rather than their biological sex — resulting in men living with men and even some women living with men:

The bill would require the [Corrections] department, for a person who is transgender, nonbinary, or intersex to only conduct a search of that person according to the search policy for their gender identity or according to the gender designation of the facility where they are housed, based on the individual’s search preference. The bill would additionally require the department to house the person in a correctional facility designated for men or women based on the individual’s preference, except as specified.

Fauci Wants a Vax Mandate for Air Travel (VIDEO)

White House chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci welcomed the possibility of introducing vaccine mandates for domestic air travel Sunday, challenging President Joe Biden’s earlier comment.

Fauci appeared on ABC News’ “This Week” Sunday, where he was asked if he agreed with the president’s assessment that domestic air travel vaccine mandates were not “necessary at this time.”

“Do you agree with that? That there shouldn’t be a vaccine requirement for domestic air travel?” the show’s co-host Jonathan Karl asked Fauci.

“Well, it depends on what you want to use it for,” the senior public health official responded. “I mean, vaccine requirements for people coming in from other countries is to prevent newly infected people from getting into the country.”
