Why Is the Left Waging a War on ‘Gifted’ Children?

Public schools across the country are eliminating gifted and talented programs, removing advanced courses and overhauling admissions processes to achieve equity across racial categories.

Removing gifted and advanced courses is a no-cost way to cover up the racial achievement gap while ignoring its root causes, according to Harry Jackson, president of the Thomas Jefferson High School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).

“Gifted programs and advanced courses provide a mechanism for low-income households to achieve a stellar education for their children and serve as a ‘great equalizer’ to those families that opt for private education,” Jackson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “By eliminating gifted programs and advanced courses in the name of equity, they will create greater inequities,” he said.

Black students make up 15% of the student population and 10% of the gifted student population, while Hispanic students make up 27.6% of the student population and 20.8% of the gifted student population, according to a Fordham Institute study. Those student groups are 49% and 23% less likely to participate in Advanced Placement programs than their peers, respectively, according to the Fordham Institute.

Public interest in racial inequities increased following George Floyd’s death with pressure on public schools to resolve racial disparities coming from parents, activist groups, school board members and officials in the U.S. Department of Education. According to results from October 56 percent of all likely voters believe that “it is likely that cheating affected the outcome of the 2020 presidential election,” including 41 percent who say it’s “very likely.”

Leaked Facebook Document Reveals Blacklist of ‘Dangerous’ Organizations, Individuals

Facebook’s blacklist of dangerous individuals and organizations has been leaked to the public.

A reproduced snapshot, published by The Intercept on Tuesday, features 100 pages of more than 4,000 groups and individuals that the social media giant classifies under “terror,” “hate,” “crime,” “militarized social movement” or “violent non-state actor” designations. . .

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Facebook’s policy director for counterterrorism and dangerous organizations, Brian Fishman, confirmed that a version of the DOI list had been leaked but emphasized that it is “not comprehensive.” He added that defining and identifying dangerous organizations is “extremely difficult,” noting there is “no hard and fast definitions agreed upon by everyone.” . . .

“While we ban thousands of organizations, including over 250 white supremacist groups, under these rules, we also update this list as new ones emerge,” he said. “This is an adversarial space, so we try to be as transparent as possible, while also prioritizing security, limiting legal risks and preventing opportunities for groups to get around our rules.”

Left Doubles Down on Aggressive Strategy

Emboldened progressives are doubling down on their aggressive strategy after an early victory over centrists, suggesting they see that approach as a winner in the intraparty fight.

Liberal lawmakers in the House and Senate are calling for social safety net programs to be as universal as possible, pushing back against centrist Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-W.Va.) calls for programs to be “means-tested” and targeted toward the lowest-income households.

They also want programs that provide benefits to families to start as quickly as possible, rather than have a delayed start date in an effort to minimize the price tag.

Liberals won an early battle with centrists when the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed by the Senate was put on mothballs for a month; centrists had been demanding a vote.

Joe Rogan Stumps CNN Doctor on COVID Shots for Kids

No. 1 podcaster Joe Rogan explained on Wednesday to CNN health correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta why many parents believe vaccinating their children for COVID-19 poses a greater risk than the disease itself.

“Don’t you think that, even with a breakthrough infection, untreated, you are probably more vulnerable than the average child who is not vaccinated, who gets COVID?” Rogan asked Gupta on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”

Before allowing Gupta to answer, Rogan noted that people who have been double vaccinated have died, including an actor who recently won an Emmy Award.

“The odds of that happening to a healthy child are very, very low,” Rogan said. . .

Noting Gupta, age 51, was about the same age as the actor, Rogan said, “You, vaccinated, would be more vulnerable of a breakthrough infection than a young child would be, statistically speaking, right?”

Former Obama Economic Advisor Larry Summers is warning that thanks to a “woke” federal reserve, inflation is about to be driven into out-of-control territory.

Report: Joe Biden May Have Funded Hunter’s Binge With Prostitute

The possibility has come up that Joe Biden paid for his son Hunter Biden’s week-long binge with a prostitute in 2018 by the disclosure of emails that show the two shared bank accounts and paid each others’ bills, according to a new report from the Daily Mail.

The publication, which has been mining for details about the Biden family a copy of a hard drive from a laptop Hunter Biden abandoned at a repair shop, said the president “could become embroiled in the FBI’s probe into Hunter’s finances.”

Hunter Biden disclosed last year that he was under investigation by the FBI.

The report said emails showed the two shared accounts, paid each other’s bills and “the president may have even funded his son’s 2018 drug and prostitution binge.”

The report explained emails between Hunter Biden and Eric Schwerin, a partner at Rosemont Seneca, indicated Schwerin was working on Joe Biden’s taxes and more, including fielding requests for a book deal for the then-vice president. Anti-Trump Republicans Endorsing Vulnerable Democrats To Prevent GOP Takeover

A group of anti-Trump Republicans on Thursday endorsed a slate of Democrats and centrist Republicans in the 2022 midterms to fight against the former president’s hold on the party.

The Renew America Movement (RAM) announced it is backing a slew of lawmakers running for reelection. The group was founded by a group of moderates within the GOP after the Jan. 6 insurrection, which was fueled by then-President Trump’s lies about the election being stolen in November.

“There is an urgent effort by Republicans and former Republicans to stem the tide of anti-democratic and lie-based Republican leaders in congress before it’s too late,” RAM said in an announcement. . .

Among the endorsees are the handful of Republicans who have criticized Trump, including Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.), who is the former president’s public enemy No. 1 over her repeated criticism of him over the insurrection, and Rep. Nurses Sue Hospital for ‘Blanket Denial’ of Religious Vaccine Exemptions

Nurses facing being fired from their Illinois hospital are suing their employer for refusing to grant them exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine mandate, a move they claim violates state law.

Last month, Riverside Healthcare in Kankakee, Illinois, told all employees who filed for exemptions to the hospital’s vaccine mandate that their requests had been denied, saying that the health care system could not have unvaccinated employees caring for patients.

“Based on our review of your declination request and our COVID Vaccination Program Policy, your request has been denied. Although your religious or strongly held belief may otherwise qualify for an exemption, Riverside has decided to deny your request because you are in a patient-facing position,” the health care system’s letter stated, according to the Daily Journal.

“We take all requests very seriously and respect the time you invested to submit it,” Riverside said, adding that employees who do not want the vaccine could apply for non-patient-facing positions.

On Wednesday, six nurses at Riverside who filed for exemptions and were told they would be fired for refusing the vaccine filed a lawsuit in Circuit Court for the Twenty-First Circuit in Kankakee County. Most Popular Thanksgiving Dinner Item Faces Massive Recall Over Contamination, Just Weeks Before Holiday

A large-scale turkey recall has been issued just weeks before Thanksgiving and other upcoming holidays.

Butterball, a North Carolina-based company, is recalling more than 14,000 pounds of ground turkey products due to a possible contamination with blue plastic, the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Thursday.

The recall includes products shipped to retail establishments on Sept. 28, such as Kroger items. The government agency noticed the issue when it received multiple consumer reports noting pieces of blue plastic implanted in raw ground turkey products. The labels were marked “Est. P-7345” inside the USDA mark of inspection, according to the statement.
