The Senate confirmed two women from the gay and transgender community to top military positions, a historic move.

Gina Ortiz Jones, who is a lesbian, was confirmed to be the undersecretary of the Air Force, making Jones the first out lesbian to serve in the role of undersecretary of any military branch. Shawn Skelly will serve as the assistant secretary of defense for readiness, making Skelly the highest-ranking out transgender defense official in the country’s history. . .

Jones, who has about 15 years of military experience, is an Iraq War veteran and military officer who worked as a national economic security adviser under the Obama and Trump administrations before resigning in 2017. She served in the military during the “don’t ask, don’t tell” era. . .

Skelly, a 20-year Navy veteran and the founder of an organization that advocates for gay and transgender people in the national security profession, was appointed as the special assistant to the undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology, and logistics in the Department of Defense in 2013. Skelly was the first transgender veteran to be appointed by a president of the United States, according to Out in National Security. Fauci Issues Another Ominous COVID-19 Warning For The U.S. As Cases Rise

Dr. Anthony Fauci on Sunday warned that the US is heading in the “wrong direction” as COVID-19 cases driven by unvaccinated people continue to surge across the nation.

“I’m not so sure it would be the worst-case scenario, but it’s not going to be good. We’re going in the wrong direction,” Fauci said on CNN’s “State of Union” when asked about a model predicting that the country could reach 4,000 virus-related deaths a day if vaccination rates don’t improve.

Fauci said the country has the “tools to blunt” the curve predicted in the model, particularly with vaccines, which have proven to be effective against severe disease.

“We have 50 percent of the country not fully vaccinated. That’s a problem, particularly when you have a variant, like Delta, which has this extraordinary characteristic of being able to spread very efficiently and very easily from person to person,” he said.

Here’s How Much Unvaccinated NFL Players Will Be Fined

The NFL will be handing out $14,650 fines to unvaccinated players who violate the league’s COVID-19 protocol.

This comes after the NFL on Thursday told teams that they would have to forfeit games if outbreaks among unvaccinated players results in them being unable to play.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a memo that in such situations, players from both teams would lose money, according to ESPN. He also said that he “retains the authority to impose additional sanctions, particularly if the Covid outbreak is reasonably determined to be the result of a failure by club personnel to follow applicable protocols.”

Jobless Claims Spike To Two-Month High

First-time unemployment claims shattered expectations last week, rising to a two-month high just weeks after President Joe Biden said the U.S. economy was “on the move again.”

The Department of Labor found that 419,000 Americans filed for initial jobless benefits in the week that ended July 17—20 percent higher than the 350,000 estimate forecasted by economists.

The two-month high in new jobless claims comes just weeks after Biden seized on a June report that showed a pandemic low in the number of Americans seeking unemployment benefits. . .

Pelosi Adds Adam Kinzinger to Jan. 6 Commission, Doubles Down on Ousting Trump Allies

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi added Republican Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger to her Jan. 6 commission.

Pelosi told ABC anchor George Stephanopoulos that she planned to make the addition during a Sunday morning appearance on “This Week,” and within hours reports began circulating that he had been added. Pelosi also defended her decision to reject Republican Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Jim Banks of Indiana from the group.

Stephanopoulos began by asking Pelosi about her decision to remove Jordan and Banks from the bipartisan commission, noting that Republicans had been very critical of the move.

“I believe the work of this committee, in order to retain the confidence of the American people, must act in a way that has no partisanship, is all about patriotism and I’m very proud of the members of the committee and I’m certain they will accomplish that goal,” Pelosi replied. “We have to, again, ignore the antics of those who do not want to find the truth. We will find the truth. That truth will have the confidence of the American people because it will be done patriotically and not in a partisan way.”

Terrorism, as it turns out, is hard. Recruiting isn’t easy, and finding the right people is difficult. A person who is willing to train, travel, keep secrets, and face a very high chance of dying is not statically all that common. . .

So the FBI does the heavy lifting in these cases. The suspects start out by talking about jihad or revolution or overthrowing the government, and someone in their chat group decides he should tell the FBI.

The people the FBI sends in to look at the chats or communicate with the suspects aren’t just a fly on the wall. They offer to help. They offer bombs. They offer direction. They suggest targets. . .

Why is the assistant director of the FBI’s Washington Field Office—Anthony D’Antuono, who is heading the investigation into the January 6 riot at the capitol and was previously in charge of the Detroit Field Office—doing these things? He’s never known another way. He had been an FBI agent only three years on 9/11, and all that time he was a forensic accountant. FBI Attempts To Do Damage Control After Initiating Whitmer Kidnapping Plot

By Townhall. The FBI is attempting to do damage control after it was revealed the law enforcement bureau initiated and carried out a significant portion of the kidnapping plot against Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer last year.

“Partnerships are key to disrupting violent plots. With the terror threat growing more insular, awareness and reporting are crucial,” the FBI posted on a their website this week. “This is especially true for domestic terrorism—defined as violent, criminal acts committed by individuals or groups to further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial, or environmental nature. Because the FBI’s mission includes protecting the free speech rights of Americans, we need a clear reason to act or investigate. A person’s beliefs can never be the sole reason to open an investigation.”

REPORT: NSA Confesses to ‘Unmasking’ Tucker Carlson

The National Security Agency has confessed that it revealed Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s name, found in conversations it was monitoring, by “unmasking” him, a process through which names are revealed to administration officials when they demand to know them.

Carlson, host of the most-watched cable news show in the United States as of just weeks ago, earlier confirmed to his audience that the NSA of the Biden administration has been spying on him electronically. . .

Tucker, long a critic of the Biden administration, said, “We heard from a whistleblower within the U.S. government who reached out to warn us that the NSA, the National Security Agency, is monitoring our electronic communications and is planning to leak them in an attempt to take the show off the air.

“Now that’s a shocking claim and ordinarily we’d be skeptical of it. It is illegal for the NSA to spy on American citizens. It’s a crime. It’s not a third world country. Things like that should not happen in America, but unfortunately they do happen. And in this case they did happen,” Carlson confirmed.

Now the NSA, according to a report, has confirmed it did, it fact, reveal Carlson’s name.

Texas Has Had It With Biden’s Border Crisis – Governor Abbott Is Taking Matter Into His Own Hands

There is nothing like watching real Patriots stand up and make a difference. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced that Texas law enforcement has begun arresting illegal immigrants for trespassing.

“President Biden’s open-border policies have led to a humanitarian crisis at our southern border as record levels of illegal immigrants, drugs, and contraband pour into Texas,” Abbott said in a June 10 statement. “While securing the border is the federal government’s responsibility, Texas will not sit idly by as this crisis grows. The state is working collaboratively with communities impacted by the crisis to arrest and detain individuals coming into Texas illegally.”

“Texas has begun arresting illegal immigrants who are trespassing in Texas or vandalizing property & fences. They are now being sent to this jail rather than being released like the Biden Admin has been doing. We are adding more officers, National Guard & jails,” Abbott said Thursday.

Thus far, roughly 10 people, all single, adult men, have been arrested and thrown into the hoosegow, with more to come, authorities said Thursday. The jailbirds are being held at what had been a heretofore empty state prison in Dilley, Texas, which lies about 100 miles north of the border town of Laredo. The converted facility will be able to hold just over 950 people. Clearly not the “American dream” they’d hoped for, but that’s what happens when you enter Texas illegally. Texas authorities are expecting to arrest between 100 and 200 trespassers per day. In an interview Thursday for Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News, Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger stated he was embarrassed about helping found the site given its increasing left-wing bias. Noting it helps shape the understanding many Americans have of the world, Carlson asked Sanger what could be done to fix the problems on Wikipedia, but Sanger doubted it was possible to fix the site from the inside. He instead argued for creating alternative sources, noting his most recent effort: the Encyclosphere.

Sanger also apologized to those individuals whose reputations have been harmed by Wikipedia because of his role in founding it, though Carlson also noted Google’s role in promoting the site. Carlson himself has been one subject of smear campaigns on the site. . .

At the beginning of Carlson’s segment on Wikipedia, he commented that, in the years since Sanger ceased involvement with Wikipedia, it “has gone on to become the world’s single most important source of history — of information about the world” and it was therefore “a problem that we ought to pay attention to when Larry Sanger himself says that Wikipedia is no longer a reliable source of honest information.” He noted Sanger “says the editors of Wikipedia use highly politicized sources and block dissenting news outlets from contributing” adding “once again, that’s a problem for all of us.” . . .

Ending the segment, Carlson remarked to Sanger: “It must kill you as one of the people who founded Wikipedia, which has become this central part of our culture of our intellectual life, weird as it is to say, to watch what has happened to it.” He asked how Sanger feels about his “role in creating this thing that misleads the country” to which Sanger stated he was embarrassed. Sanger noted he has been a leading Wikipedia critic for over a decade and tried various things to improve on it. Sanger added he was “sorry to all the people whose reputations have been sullied by what I got started 20 years ago.” Carlson noted to Sanger that “Google has helped a lot by promoting Wikipedia” in response. Major News Sites Get Riddled With Hardcore Porn

Major news sites like the Washington Post, New York Magazine and Huffington Post got infiltrated with hardcore porn, apparently after a now-defunct video-hosting site was acquired by a smut company.

On Thursday afternoon, Twitter user @dox_gay screen-grabbed and blurred out some of the images that appeared alongside serious news articles, including a 2015 story from NY Mag about John Boehner’s “creepy kissy face.”

Porn was likewise displayed alongside a 2017 HuffPost article about Martin Shkreli being permanently banned from Twitter, as well as a 2015 piece from Uproxx about Donald Trump coping with a heckler at a CNN GOP debate.

According to Vice, which first reported on the @dox_gay tweets Thursday, the images included explicit thumbnails for videos with titles like “Naughty Spy Girls 2,” and “Bottoms Up Brianna,” mostly on archival stories dating from 2014 to 2016 that span pop culture, politics and business.
