Alaska Republican Party Censures Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Pledges Primary Challenge

By Breitbart. The Alaska Republican Party on Saturday voted to censure Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) at its quarterly meeting and pledged to support a primary challenger against the incumbent lawmaker.

In January, Murkowski joined six other Republican senators in voting to convict Trump in his second impeachment trial in which the former president was acquitted of inciting the deadly January 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

“There’s a number of issues that the party has had with Sen. Murkowski for the last several years which really culminated in the conviction vote of former President Trump,” said Kris Warren, head of the Anchorage Republican Party group. “She’s repeatedly spoken out against President Trump over the years in spite of all the great accomplishments he had that helped the country and certainly helped Alaska.”

Alaska GOP Censures Murkowski

By The Hill. . .Warren said he was upset with Murkowski over past votes to preserve the Affordable Care Act and against an amendment to the most recent coronavirus relief package that would have banned trans women from competing in sports. He took issue with her decision to vote present on the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and her support for Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.), President Biden’s choice to lead the Interior Department.

But the resolution focused most on Murkowski’s relationship with the former president.

“She’s repeatedly spoken out against President Trump over the years in spite of all the great accomplishments he had that helped the country and certainly helped Alaska,” Warren said.

Murkowski’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment. She has not said whether she will seek a fourth full term, though her campaign account had $1 million in the bank at the end of 2020.

Warren declined to speculate on potential challengers who might take on the three-term Republican, who took office in 2002 to succeed her father after he became governor. Former Gov. Sarah Palin (R) has issued vague threats about running herself, though she is not seen as a likely candidate a dozen years after she left the governor’s mansion in the middle of her first term. The comments were met with widespread condemnation from conservatives, with Turning Point USA’s Benny Johnson calling for those involved to “resign in disgrace or be discharged.”

During his broadcast of “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Carlson took a few moments to talk about his experience being the target of, what he jokingly called, “Operation Silence-The-Talk-Show-Hosts.”

“Well, it was quite an experience yesterday being the very first target in the Pentagon’s new Operation Silence-The-Talk-Show-Hosts. Friends called us in concern. ‘Are you guys all right?’ And for a minute, we’ll concede we were almost rattled,” Carlson began.

“Then we realized, if the woke generals treat us like they’ve treated the Taliban, we’ll be fine. Sick: Most Child Predators Skip Prison Time in Minnesota

America is in the midst of a sex-trafficking crisis, fueled by the internet and pervasive and increasingly violent pornography. Trafficked persons are often children, many of whom come from broken families and the foster care system. . .

But the public would be wrong to assume America is tough on child predators. In many states, a large chunk of these predators receive only probation. Instead of thinking of the crime in terms of protecting children, the system focuses on predators and sees them as suffering an illness.

Of these bad states, and in a country that is generally too lax on the issue, Minnesota is arguably the worst. Indeed, the story of Minnesota highlights the need for national action.

In Minnesota, predators convicted of criminal sexual conduct (likely a contact crime) against a child victim under the age of 13 receive probation at least 50 percent of the time. Predators in Minnesota trading in violent and sadistic child sexual abuse imagery — depicting the rape and torture of prepubescent children — receive probation more than 80 percent of the time. In the last five years, Minnesota gave probation an astonishing 75 percent of the time for crimes of producing child pornography. New Bill Would Let People Vote up to Two Weeks after Election Day

The Democratic Party is attempting to make Election Day into “election season” with the radical “For The People Act of 2021” sponsored by Rep. John P. Sarbanes, D-Md. The bill passed in the House on March 3 at a vote of 220 to 210.

As noted by Federalist Executive Editor Joy Pullmann, the Democratic-sponsored elections bill H.R. 1 would “require states to wait ten days after election day” to accept ballots. Page 199 of the legislation states:

Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to prohibit a State from having a law that allows for counting of ballots in an election for Federal office that are received through the mail after the date that is 10 days after the date of the election.

As long as ballots are postmarked by Election Day, H.R. 1 would effectively mandate that all states accept absentee ballots within that 10-day window. But the bill takes it a step further, noting that election officials would be restricted from verifying voter identification and eligibility. H.R. 1 would ban all state voter ID laws and has an ambiguous provision criminalizing an individual from “hindering, interfering, or preventing” an individual from voting or registering. Liberal Icons: America Now on a Path To ‘Totalitarianism’

Citing government seizure of power and censorship during the coronavirus pandemic, well-known liberal figures Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Naomi Wolf warned in a recent video-podcast discussion that America is on “a path to totalitarianism.” . . .

In their discussion on Kennedy’s “Truth” podcast, the son of the late liberal icon said he sees himself and Wolf as “kindred spirits” who are perplexed about why fellow liberals can’t see what is happening now in America.

He noted that liberal scholars grew up reading the great dystopian writers of the 20th century, including Orwell and Huxley, who “predicted exactly what we are going through now.”

“It just felt like we were all on the same page, and it is very, very strange to me, almost inexplicable, how all these people who have been friends of mine for life, and people I have admired, and people whose writings I read, have acquiesced to something that clearly is a path to totalitarianism,” he told Wolf in the podcast, which was published March 8.

Kennedy added that fascism is another term for it, noting Wolf pointed out in her recent interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson that Mussolini complained that fascism should be called corporatism, the merger of state and corporate power. California Cut This Restaurant’s Power, So the Owner Brought a Generator to Continue Business

A Los Angeles County court authorized the City of Burbank to disconnect electricity powering a restaurant that refused to shut down in compliance with extreme pandemic-related restrictions.

Tinhorn Flats refused to abide by a temporary restraining order issued March 8 that required the restaurant to remain closed because the restaurant violated COVID-19 restrictions, KTTV-TV reported. . .

Despite having no power, the restaurant has continued operations undeterred.

“The owner says they will continue to stay open and are currently using a generator as a power source,” KTTV reported.

Pope Francis Condemns Homosexuality

The Vatican published a document Monday saying the Catholic Church would not bless same-sex unions, a statement that likely let down a number of Catholics who identify as LGBT. . .

The pope-approved statement called homosexuality a choice and said God “does not and cannot bless sin,” which means the church, too, cannot bless sin.

Blessings belong to the category of the sacramentals, whereby the Church “calls us to praise God, encourages us to implore his protection, and exhorts us to seek his mercy by our holiness of life.” In addition, they “have been established as a kind of imitation of the sacraments, blessings are signs above all of spiritual effects that are achieved through the Church’s intercession.” . . .

For this reason, it is not licit to impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex. The presence in such relationships of positive elements, which are in themselves to be valued and appreciated, cannot justify these relationships and render them legitimate objects of an ecclesial blessing, since the positive elements exist within the context of a union not ordered to the Creator’s plan. . . .

Furthermore, since blessings on persons are in relationship with the sacraments, the blessing of homosexual unions cannot be considered licit. This is because they would constitute a certain imitation or analogue of the nuptial blessing invoked on the man and woman united in the sacrament of Matrimony, while in fact “there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family.”

State Giving Immunity To Drivers Who Accidentally Hit Violent Rioters

The Oklahoma House passed a bill Wednesday that extends punishments for rioters and grants immunity to drivers who injure or kill someone while fleeing a riot, USA Today reported.

House Bill 1674, introduced by Republican state Rep. Kevin West, would allow prosecutors to charge rioters with a misdemeanor for interfering with traffic and endangering drivers. If passed, motor vehicle operators would not face criminal or civil charges for hitting a rioter if they were fleeing for safety or exercised “due care” at the time of the injury or death.

The bill defines a rioter as anyone committing violence or robbery during the protest, according to the Courthouse News Service. Rioters can face a criminal charge and imprisonment.

“If any murder, maiming, robbery, rape or arson was committed in the course of such a riot, such person is punishable in the same manner as a principal in such crime,” the bill text says. “Such person shall, upon conviction, be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment.” . . .

Mainstream Media Misquoted Trump in Notorious Election Fraud Phone Call with Georgia Investigator

The Wall Street Journal first published audio last week of the roughly six-minute call on Dec. 23 between Trump and Frances Watson, the chief investigator of the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, in which Trump urged her to look for fraud in mail-in ballots in Fulton County, where much of Atlanta is located.

Indeed, Trump can be heard telling Watson, who was in the middle of conducting an audit of voting results in Cobb County, that he won the 2020 election and that she would be “praised” when the “right answer comes out.” He also insisted “something bad happened.”

In response to Trump, the investigator said: “I can assure you that our team and the [Georgia Bureau of Investigation], that we are only interested in the truth and finding the information that is based on the facts.”

However, the audio shows that early reports in January about that call, based on anonymous sourcing, misquoted Trump. In those reports, Trump was quoted as urging Watson to “find the fraud,” and if she did so, the investigator would be a “national hero.”

Outlets such as CNN published these quotes, corroborating what was first reported by the Washington Post. Here Are the States With the Highest and Lowest Life Expectancies

New Yorkers have the third-longest life expectancy in the US, while those born in the South have fewer years, according to a new report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Overall, Americans are expected to live an average of 78.7 years, the report published Thursday by the National Center for Health Statistics, a branch of the CDC, found.

The state with the lowest life expectancy was West Virginia, whose residents live an average of 74.4 years.

Rounding out the bottom 10 states were Mississippi (74.6), Alabama (75.1), Kentucky (75.3), Tennessee (75.5), Louisiana (75.6), Oklahoma (75.6), Arkansas (75.6), South Carolina (76.5) and Missouri (76.6). . .

On the other end of the spectrum, Hawaii fared the best – with an average life expectancy of 81 years – followed by California (80.8), New York (80.5), Minnesota (80.5), Connecticut (80.4), Massachusetts (80.1), Washington state (80), Colorado (80), New Jersey (79.8) and Rhode Island (79.8).
