Americans Want the Wall… but Still Blame Trump

Americans are increasingly bullish on a border wall but are souring on the government showdown, according to two new polls out Sunday from CNN and the Washington Post.

The Washington Post reports that Americans are almost evenly split on whether they support a solid wall along the United States’ southern border, up from the beginning of the immigration battle between Democrats and Republicans in Congress. That level of support is up ten points from a similar poll taken in January of 2017.

But if President Donald Trump is making his case that his signature anti-illegal immigration measure is urgently needed, he’s not convincing Americans that a government shutdown is the way to get the wall built.

CNN found that “[t]he public generally is more apt to blame the President, with 55% saying he is more responsible for the shutdown than are Democrats in Congress, while 32% say the blame rests mostly with the Democrats. Another 9% say both are responsible.”

In the Washington Post poll, Trump fared only two points better; 53% of respondents blamed Trump and Republicans for the seemingly endless government shutdown, while 29% said the Democrats are making the situation worse.

OUTRAGE: FBI Began Investigation Into Whether Trump Was a Russian Agent After He Fired Comey

By AP. Law enforcement officials became so concerned by President Donald Trump’s behavior in the days after he fired FBI Director James Comey that they began investigating whether he had been working for Russia against U.S. interests, The New York Times reported Friday. . .

The inquiry forced counterintelligence investigators to evaluate whether Trump was a potential threat to national security, and they also sought to determine whether Trump was deliberately working for Russia or had unintentionally been influenced by Moscow.

The Times reports that FBI agents and some top officials became suspicious of Trump’s ties to Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign but didn’t launch an investigation at that time because they weren’t sure how to approach such a sensitive and important probe, according to the sources. But Trump’s behavior in the days around Comey’s May 2017 firing, specifically two instances in which he seemed to tie Comey’s ousting to the Russia investigation, helped trigger the counterintelligence part of the investigation, according to the Times’ sources. F.B.I. Opened Inquiry Into Whether Trump Was Secretly Working on Behalf of Russia

By The New York Times. In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

The inquiry carried explosive implications. Counterintelligence investigators had to consider whether the president’s own actions constituted a possible threat to national security. Agents also sought to determine whether Mr. Trump was knowingly working for Russia or had unwittingly fallen under Moscow’s influence.

The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has long been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice.

Agents and senior F.B.I. officials had grown suspicious of Mr. Trump’s ties to Russia during the 2016 campaign but held off on opening an investigation into him, the people said, in part because they were uncertain how to proceed with an inquiry of such sensitivity and magnitude. But the president’s activities before and after Mr. Comey’s firing in May 2017, particularly two instances in which Mr. Trump tied the Comey dismissal to the Russia investigation, helped prompt the counterintelligence aspect of the inquiry, the people said. Trump Trolls Acosta to His Face. It’s Hilarious.

Back in the Oval Office on Friday after his trip to the Southern border, President Trump was confronted by a number of reporters, one of whom just happened to be CNN’s Chief White House correspondent James Acosta, who inadvertently did Trump a favor when he also traveled to the border, posed next to the wall, and noted there “were no migrants trying to rush for this fence,” adding “matter of fact, it’s pretty tranquil down here.”

Trump trolled Acosta to his face, asserting, “Good job yesterday. I appreciate your salesmanship. I appreciate your salesmanship. … Some people are dumb.”

On Thursday, Acosta had posed at the wall from McAllen, Texas, reassuring Americans that there wasn’t “anything resembling a national emergency situation.”

Another Caravan: New Migrant Group Forms, Prepares to Head North to U.S. Border

While Washington Post fact-checkers argue among themselves about whether or not the situation at the border constitutes a humanitarian crisis, the outlet reports that in Honduras another migrant caravan is preparing to start the long trek north.

“Another migrant caravan is forming in Honduras, with plans to set out next week on a journey that will once again test the immigration policies of Mexico and the United States,” the Washington Post reports.

The Post notes that, as with the previous caravan, a flier has been “circulating on Honduran social media” announcing the plan to form a new group to head north. The flier provides the location where the new caravan is gathering — San Pedro Sula, a city close to the northern Honduran border — and says the group will set out at 5 a.m. on Jan. 15. “We’re looking for refuge,” reads the flier. “In Honduras, we are being killed.”

The Mexican government is already preparing for the new caravan’s arrival at the southern border with Guatemala, interior minister Olga Sánchez Cordero said at a press conference Monday. After having failed to stop thousands of migrants from illegally crossing into the country last year, Sánchez Cordero said this time they plan to more effectively lock down the border, in part by placing guards at 370 potential crossing points, the Post reports.

Like many in the previous caravan, which included around 7,000 migrants, the Honduran migrants who manage to make it into Mexico and to its northern border to apply for asylum in the U.S. will likely end up finding themselves having to wait in Mexico while their applications are processed due to a deal between the Trump administration and the Mexican government to keep asylum seekers south of the border during the process. 10-Year-Old Boy ‘Drag Kid’ Photographed With Naked Adult Drag Queen

On Monday, 10-year-old Canadian boy Nemis Quinn Mélançon-Golden was featured in a troubling Huck Magazine piece highlighting the life of a so-called “child drag queen.”

Young Nemis, whose drag name is “Queen Lactacia,” was shot by photographer Jonathan Frederick Turton for the spread. In one of the shots that did not make the magazine, Nemis, in full drag makeup and a black dress, is posing for a photo with the Season 7 winner of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” Violet Chachki. In the shocking photo, Violet is wearing nothing but a pair of heels and a small piece of fabric covering his genitals, as seen in the screenshot below:

Turton, according to his website, “is a multi-media content producer with specialisms in photography, videography and journalism.” He claims to have shot for mainstream outlets and businesses like the BBC, Adidas, Dazed and Confused Magazine, and The Discovery Channel.

In the jarring Huck Magazine piece — which ironically bashes Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro for calling out parents for over-sexualizing their “drag kids” — Nemis’ mother, Jessica Melancon, conceded that drag has a sexual component and is unapologetic about her young son wearing sexually suggestive clothing if it “makes him feel beautiful.” (Read more from “10-Year-Old Boy ‘Drag Kid’ Photographed With Naked Adult Drag Queen” HERE)

Creep Show: Cruz Called the Democratic Response to Trump’s Border Address ‘One of the Most Frightening Things I’ve Seen’

As the government shutdown drags on, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said enough with the memes, but he gave the Internet endless fodder with his and Nancy Pelosi’s response to President Trump’s border address. There is a crisis at the border, The Washington Post and The New York Times reported on it. Yet, CNN and other trash liberal outlets say otherwise because a) they hate Trump; and b) it would give legitimacy to the president border agenda. The Democrats wanted to respond to the president’s address. And boy, was it something otherworldly. It was immediately mocked on social media and wasn’t persuasive in the slightest. Alas, the two sides of this shutdown debate, and they’re not budging. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) aptly noted that this response was a creep show. It was “one of the most frightening things” he had ever seen. The Texas Republican equated it to a hostage video in a segment with The Daily Caller (via The Hill):

I gotta say, watching the Schumer-Pelosi response was one of the most frightening things I’ve seen,” Cruz says. “You want to talk about a visual? I am pretty convinced that was an actual hostage video.”

“Go back and look at it again,” he adds. “I am virtually certain that Nancy is blinking S.O.S. as Chuck Schumer is talking. They’re hostage to the extreme, the radicals, to the crazies in their party and they’re not listening to the American people.”

Trump Announces His Decision on Declaring National Emergency

Speaking during a border security round table Friday afternoon at the White House, President Trump said that for the time being, he will not be declaring a national emergency as the government shutdown drags on. . .

“What we’re not looking to do right now is national emergency,” he continued. “I’d rather not do it.” . . .

President Trump maintains he has the authority to declare a national emergency. Republicans on Capitol Hill are split on the issue.

A Media That Twists Facts to Demean President Trump

The news coverage of the border crisis and President Trump’s speech to the nation proves the agenda-driven media can be the enemy of the people.

The left-wing media is so intent on destroying President Trump that it enthusiastically twists and manipulates facts without any regard for the consequences of an insecure border to Americans or the damage of harming the credibility of the president.

Before and after President Trump’s speech, the anti-Trump media was actively trying to undermine the president. The talking heads on MSNBC led the way. The morning before the nationwide address, “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski wanted to silence President Trump by urging networks not to broadcast the prime-time address because they were confident the president was going to lie.

“Why in the world would the networks run Donald Trump’s address tonight when we know that Donald Trump is going to be using it to spread these lies?” asked Scarborough.

Brzezinski passionately responded, “Do they want to run the promise of more lies, more misleading statistics, more twisting of reality, mindless confrontation, all for the sake of defending Trump’s dark, twisted fantasy of a wall on the Mexican border to fight an enemy that doesn’t exist, except in the most fevered swamps of American politics — do they want to do that for ratings?”

She added that “the networks should refuse to turn over the airwaves to Donald Trump tonight for what they know, objectively, to be a steady stream of lies.”

The MSNBC segment on the president’s address the following morning opened with a video montage mocking him. The editors used a series of video clips from a rally speech where the president was joking about being presidential, and after each joke, they spliced in video from the president’s nationwide address from the Oval Office. Pure propaganda, with the goal of demeaning President Trump.

The remainder of the segment was a discussion. The co-hosts and assembled anti-Trump cheerleaders reiterated the conclusion from the morning before, that the speech did not merit a prime-time address and did not justify the wall. Notably absent was any identification of the “steady stream of lies” that Brzezinski was so confident would be delivered.

MSNBC was not alone in the effort to demean President Trump. The Washington Post had a “fact-checker” standing by to analyze statements made by the president.

During the address, President Trump said 266,000 aliens were arrested “with criminal records” during the last two years. The fact-checker determined the arrest “numbers add up” but said the statistic was misleading because it “includes all types of crimes, including nonviolent offenses such as illegal entry or reentry.”

So even when the president is correct, he is wrong, because according to The Washington Post, a crime is only a crime when it is violent. The “analysis” did not disprove the number of “charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 violent killings.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) fiscal year 2018 report provides a list of charges and convictions from arrests, including 80,730 DUIs, 76,585 dangerous drugs, and 50,753 assault.

The statement that President Trump made that Democrats including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., voted for a “physical barrier” before he was president was also a problem for the fact-checker. That too was misleading because “the fence they voted for is not as substantial as the wall Trump is proposing.”

Wrong. During the speech, President Trump stated he would yield the concrete wall for a “steel barrier.”

The fact-checker also challenged the president’s statement that 90 percent of heroin comes from the southern border. The focus of the challenge was that “virtually all of it comes through legal points of entry” and not between the ports of entry. The fact-checker concluded that therefore “Trump’s wall would do little to halt drug trafficking.”

Wrong. While it’s true that nine times the amount of heroin comes through the ports of entry as between the entry points, a significant amount of dangerous drugs gets into the U.S. around the ports of entry. In fiscal year 2018, the Border Patrol seized 10,382 pounds of methamphetamine, 6,423 pounds of cocaine and 332 pounds of fentanyl — over an eighty percent increase from the prior year.

Keep in mind these are the drugs that were seized. Who knows how many pounds escaped border agents?

Just on the basis of drugs brought in and crimes committed by illegal aliens, there is a border crisis. By mocking President Trump and twisting the facts to minimize the security risk to Americans from a porous border shows the media can be the enemy of the people. Claim: CNN Declined Local News Border Report Because It Showed Walls Work

CNN responded to KUSI, calling its accusation a “non story.”

The fact that CNN booked a KUSI reporter in November does not speak at all to why CNN rejected a KUSI report this week.

Original story:

A local news station in California published a report Thursday claiming that CNN rejected a story on the border wall debate because the report confirmed that President Donald Trump is right and walls work.

From KUSI:

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Thursday morning, CNN called the KUSI Newsroom asking if one of our reporters could give them a local view of the debate surrounding the border wall and government shutdown.

KUSI offered our own Dan Plante, who has reported dozens of times on the border, including one story from 2016 that was retweeted by former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich, and posted on DrudgeReport.com.

We believe CNN declined a report from KUSI because we informed them that most Border Patrol Agents we have spoken to told us the barrier does in fact work.

We have continuously been told by Border Patrol Agents that the barrier along the Southern border helps prevent illegal entries, drugs, and weapons from entering the United States, and the numbers prove it.

This is beyond fake news or liberal bias. This is a malicious rejection of the facts by CNN to oppose the Trump administration politically.

CNN does not conduct journalism. CNN conducts partisan opposition to the Republican Party. Every criticism of CNN the president issues is justified. (For more from the author of “Claim: Cnn Declined Local News Border Report Because It Showed Walls Work” please click HERE)

Report of Bounty Hunters Buying Phone Location Data Leaves U.S. Senators Seething

Senate Democrats called on federal agencies Wednesday to investigate the practice by major telecommunications companies of selling location data generated by subscribers’ mobile devices following an undercover investigation by a security reporter that shed new light on a black market trade.

In a report Tuesday, Motherboard reporter Joseph Cox described the process he underwent to acquire the location data of a mobile phone from a source in the bail bond industry. For $300, he was able to acquire the location of the phone with little to no fuss. The data he received reportedly included longitude and latitude coordinates accurate up to roughly 0.3 miles.

According to Cox, the source claimed to have received the data from a firm called Microbit. While posing as a potential customer, he was able to confirm that Microbit was geolocating phones on behalf of bail bondsman. The firm received the data from a location “aggregator” called Zumigo, which had in turn purchased it directly from T-Mobile.

Senators Kamala Harris, Ron Wyden, and Mark Warner called on the appropriate federal agencies to investigate, namely the Federal Communications Commission.

T-Mobile told Gizmodo in response to the Motherboard story that it had “blocked access to device location data for any request submitted by Zumigo.” The company also stated that it was working to fulfill its promise made last summer to sever ties with third-party data aggregators. “We are nearly finished with that process,” it said.
