The Growing List of Lawmakers Ditching the Democratic Party

The Democratic Party is hemorrhaging not just voters, but lawmakers too.

Most recently, Florida state Rep. Hillary Cassel announced Friday that she would be switching her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican because she believes in “their vision for a better, more prosperous Florida.”

“As a mother, I want to help build a world where our children are judged on their character and their actions, not on their labels,” Cassel said. “As a proud Jewish woman, I have been increasingly troubled by the Democratic Party’s failure to unequivocally support Israel and its willingness to tolerate extreme progressive voices that justify or condone acts of terrorism.

“I’m constantly troubled by the inability of the current Democratic Party to relate to everyday Floridians,” Cassel continued. “I can no longer remain in a party that doesn’t represent my values.” . . .

“I know I won’t always agree on every detail with every Republican, but I do know that I will always have input, collaboration, and respect,” Cassel said. “The House Republican Conference empowers members to find common-sense solutions to real issues facing all Floridians. They welcome different ideas and collaboration, which is the cornerstone of effective government. Those are my values.” (Read more from “The Growing List of Lawmakers Ditching the Democratic Party” HERE)

Trump States Where He Stands on H-1B Visas

President-elect Donald Trump has announced his position on the H-1B visa, which imports hundreds of thousands of foreign workers, mainly from India, to work specialty occupations. His statements starkly contrast his first term, where he emphasized the need to prioritize American workers and “America First” policies. His first administration implemented several measures, including stricter eligibility criteria, increased scrutiny of applications, and reduced visa approvals, to ensure that American workers were not displaced or underpaid.

Trump said he has many H-1B visas employed on his properties and believes in the “great” program.

“I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas,” Trump told the New York Post. “That’s why we have them.”

Trump, who was previously critical of foreign worker visas during his first administration, agreed with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, who argued that the program is crucial for enabling American companies to access highly skilled labor that may be scarce within the U.S. workforce and should be expanded to meet growing demands. CBS News Journalist Says Most Underreported 2024 Story Was Biden’s ‘Obvious Cognitive Decline’

Veteran CBS News reporter Jan Crawford dinged news organizations for not thoroughly covering President Biden’s “obvious cognitive decline” this year until it became unavoidable during his disastrous debate against Donald Trump over the summer.

Crawford, the network’s chief legal correspondent, insisted stronger reporting on the topic could have changed the entire election as she responded to a question from “Face the Nation” moderator Major Garrett about the most underreported story in 2024.

“Undercovered and underreported, that would be, to me, Joe Biden’s obvious cognitive decline that became undeniable in the televised debate,” she said on the Sunday morning show.

She then noted recent reporting by the Wall Street Journal that detailed how White House aides covered up Biden’s mental decline over the past four years.

The explosive report says staffers formed a tight circle around the 82-year-old Democrat to limit his in-person interactions. (Read more from “CBS News Journalist Says Most Underreported 2024 Story Was Biden’s ‘Obvious Cognitive Decline’” HERE)

‘Should Raise Some Red Flags’: Hundreds of Assisted Suicides Should Not Have Been Approved

The latest shocking “medical assistance in dying” (MAiD) report from Canada reveals that 622 of the MAiD deaths that occurred in 2023 never should have been approved at all, as they did not meet the standard requirements by law.

In an analysis, CTV News correspondent Kamil Karamali noted that the 622 deaths fell into a category known as “Track 2,” in which the patient still had the possibility of living a long life, but chose MAiD for other reasons. However, he said, while a “terminal” illness is no longer necessary by law, the patient must still have a “serious or incurable illness, disease or disability,” and be facing “an advanced state of irreversible decline in capability,” and “have enduring and intolerable physical or psychological suffering that cannot be alleviated under conditions the person considers acceptable.”

According to Karamali, those 622 deaths did not meet these specifications.

Dr. Sonu Gaind, a psychiatry professor at the University of Toronto, highlighted one of the common problems with “assisted dying,” especially as it pertains to people who are not terminally ill.

“It’s particularly concerning for the path to MAID for disabled people who are not otherwise dying, because in that path, the nature of suffering parallels the traditional markers of suicide,” he told CTV News “That includes things like feeling a burden and a strong sense of loneliness. The StatCan report found that, in the 622 MAID cases where natural death was not ‘reasonably foreseeable,’ 47 per cent suffered from isolation or loneliness and 49 per cent perceived themselves to be a burden to family, friends and caregivers. The only reason they died last year was because they were provided MAID,” said Gaind. “We’re talking about people, in some cases, that had more than 10 years to live. That should raise some red flags.” (Read more from “‘Should Raise Some Red Flags’: Hundreds of Assisted Suicides Should Not Have Been Approved” HERE)

Hulking Trans Child Molester Repeatedly Sexually Assaulted Female Cellmate After Being Transferred to Women’s Prison: Suit

A former inmate at a Washington state women’s prison was repeatedly sexually assaulted by her hulking transgender cellmate — who was transferred to the prison after changing her gender identity, according to a shocking new lawsuit.

Mozzy Clark sued the state department of corrections in federal court last week for locking her in a cell with a 6-foot-4 convicted child molester who allegedly subjected her to months of stalking, threats of violence and sexual harassment and assault, according to the lawsuit.

The cellmate, Christopher Scott Williams, was convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl as a male, and was serving a separate sentence for domestic abuse.

Williams then petitioned to be recognized as female and be transferred to a women’s prison, according to the lawsuit.

When the state granted the request and placed Williams in a cell with Clark, her life became a living nightmare, she alleged. (Read more from “Hulking Trans Child Molester Repeatedly Sexually Assaulted Female Cellmate After Being Transferred to Women’s Prison: Suit” HERE)

Costco Doubles Down on ‘Wokeness’ While Ignoring Bud Light Backlash

Costco’s board of directors is urging shareholders to vote against a proposal that would eliminate the wholesale retailer’s diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) program.

“Our success at Costco Wholesale has been built on service to our critical stakeholders: employees, members, and suppliers. Our efforts around diversity, equity and inclusion follow our code of ethics: For our employees, these efforts are built around inclusion – having all of our employees feel valued and respected,” the board of directors wrote in a message to investors previously reported by The Hill. “Our efforts at diversity, equity and inclusion remind and reinforce with everyone at our Company the importance of creating opportunities for all. We believe that these efforts enhance our capacity to attract and retain employees who will help our business succeed. This capacity is critical because we owe our success to our now over 300,000 employees around the globe.”

The message was sent ahead of Costco’s annual meeting of shareholders scheduled for Jan. 23, 2025.

Shareholders will vote on a proposal brought by the National Center for Public Policy Research challenging the legality of Costco’s DEI program after the Supreme Court’s ruling in SFFA v. Harvard that discriminating on the basis of race in college admissions violates the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment.

The proposal cites how attorneys general of 13 states have warned Fortune 100 companies that the ruling implicated corporate DEI programs, and a number of lawsuits have been filed. (Read more from “Costco Doubles Down on ‘Wokeness’ While Ignoring Bud Light Backlash” HERE)

Young Adults Believe Health Insurance Companies, Suspected Killer Share Equal Blame In Healthcare CEO’s Murder: Poll

Most young adults believe discontent with the nation’s health insurance system and the killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO, Brian Thompson, share equal responsibility in the executive’s murder, according to a new poll.

Nearly 70% of U.S. adults between the ages of 18 and 29 said “a great deal” or “moderate amount” of responsibility for the Thompson’s murder can be attributed to “denials for health care coverage by health insurance companies,” “profits made by health insurance companies” and “the individual who committed the killing,” according to a survey from NORC at the University of Chicago conducted between Dec. 12-16 with 1,001 adults participating.

Trump Asks SCOTUS to Pause TikTok Ban ‘To Pursue a Negotiated Resolution’

President-elect Donald Trump urged the Supreme Court on Friday to pause an impending ban on the Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok.

Trump’s legal team filed a friend-of-the-court brief requesting the justices pause TikTok’s ban, due to go into effect on January 19, to give the president-elect time to negotiate a deal to keep the platform operating in the United States. The effort to ban TikTok gained bipartisan support earlier this year as critics accused the platform of threatening U.S. national security by collecting data on Americans.

In April, Congress passed and President Joe Biden signed legislation that included a ban on TikTok unless the social media platform can meet the terms outlined in the legislation, namely being sold off from its parent company, ByteDance. The legislation gave the social media platform 270 days to comply with the chance of an additional 90 days if the Biden administration assesses that ByteDance has made meaningful progress toward a sale.

TikTok sued the government over the ban, claiming that it violates the First Amendment.

“President Trump takes no position on the merits of the dispute,” Trump’s team wrote in its brief. “Instead, he urges the Court to stay the statute’s effective date to allow his incoming Administration to pursue a negotiated resolution that could prevent a nationwide shutdown of TikTok, thus preserving the First Amendment rights of tens of millions of Americans, while also addressing the government’s national security concerns.” (Read more from “Trump Asks SCOTUS to Pause TikTok Ban ‘To Pursue a Negotiated Resolution’” HERE)

Florida Man Shoots at Two Migrants in Alleged Home Invasion, One Died

A Florida homeowner shot at two migrants who allegedly broke into his home Thursday night. One of the migrants, a Mexican national, died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Manatee County Sheriff Rick Wells told reporters his deputies responded to a call about a shooting connected to an alleged home invasion burglary. The homeowner said his home surveillance camera alerted him to the two masked men who were about to break into his home, Fox 13 reported.

“He [the homeowner] knew something bad was about to happen, and he didn’t stall. He grabbed his firearm, told his wife to get into a safe spot,” the sheriff said. “This is the state of Florida. If you want to break into someone’s home, you should expect to be shot.”

The homeowner reportedly told his wife to find a safe place in the house as he grabbed his firearm to defend his home and family. Florida is a Castle Doctrine state that allows a homeowner to use deadly force to defend himself or others.

The homeowner entered a room where a Mexican national was standing, later identified as Nestevan Flores-Toledo, 27. aka Anibal Miller-Valencia. The homeowner fired at least three shots, striking the intruder multiple times. (Read more from “Florida Man Shoots at Two Migrants in Alleged Home Invasion, One Died” HERE)

J.K. Rowling: There Is No Such Thing as a Transgender Kid

Harry Potter creator and women’s rights activist J.K. Rowling has told her fans on social media that there is no such thing as a transgender kid and that no child is born in the “wrong body.”

Rowling engaged series of messages on X on Saturday but after being accused of perpetrating a “hateful focus on trans kids,” the children’s books author seemed to insist that there is no such thing as a trans kid in the first place.

“There are no trans kids. No child is ‘born in the wrong body,’” she wrote. “There are only adults like you, prepared to sacrifice the health of minors to bolster your belief in an ideology that will end up wreaking more harm than lobotomies and false memory syndrome combined.”

In another post, Rowling blamed some of society’s problems on a type of cultural contamination where social media convinces children that they are transgender.

When one X user said that parents are to blame for transgendering of kids, Rowling responded, saying, “Kids are watching TikTok videos of surgeons selling the idea that bodies can be modified like Lego. Schools affirm kids’ trans identities behind parents’ backs. A certain kids’ charity in the UK sent out breast binders to pubescent girls without parental consent.”
