Joe Biden is putting the screws to Republican governors who are defying the federal government’s mask guidance for schools.

I guess when it comes to opposing politicians, Biden is a holy warrior. But the Taliban? Not so much.

Biden said at a press conference that he would not “stand by” and allow governors to prevent local districts from “keeping students safe” by imposing mask mandates. . .

“I’m directing the secretary of education to take additional steps to protect our children,” Biden said at the press conference. “This includes using all of his oversight authorities and legal action if appropriate against governors who are trying to block and intimidate local schools officials and educators.” . . .

Capitol Police Investigate ‘Bomb Threat’

The United States Capitol Police were negotiating with a man who claimed to have a bomb in a pickup truck outside the Library of Congress on Thursday, prompting evacuations from government buildings in the area.

The man drove a black pickup onto the sidewalk of the Library of Congress at about 9:15 Thursday morning, and the police responded to a disturbance call, Chief J. Thomas Manger of the Capitol Police said in a news conference.

Joe Doubles Down on Withdrawal, Snaps Over Question About Horrific Scenes

By New York Post. President Biden maintains that no mistakes were made in the US withdrawal from Afghanistan — waving off the scenes of chaos, confusion and desperation in his first interview on the matter since the fall of Kabul.

“So you don’t think this could have been handled — this exit could have been handled better in any way, no mistakes?” ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos asked Biden.

And when Stephanopoulos tried to ask Biden about the horrific scenes of people clinging to and falling from departing US airplanes, the president grew combative.

“We’ve all seen the pictures. We’ve seen those hundreds of people packed in a C-17. We’ve seen Afghans falling –“

“That was four days ago, five days ago!” Biden cut Stephanopoulos, even though the images were taken on Monday.

Poll: Support for US Withdrawal From Afghanistan — and for Biden’s Foreign Policy — Tumbles as Taliban Takes Control

Amid the swift and sudden collapse of Afghanistan this week — and widespread coverage of the chaos that has engulfed the war-weary country as the Taliban seized control again — support for both the long-planned withdrawal of U.S. forces and for President Biden’s handling of foreign policy has declined significantly, according to a new Yahoo News poll.

At the same time, more Americans still favor the U.S. withdrawal than oppose it — and there are early signs that the political fallout for the president could be limited in the long run.

The survey of 1,649 U.S. adults, which was conducted from Aug. 16 to 18, found that while 50 percent of respondents said one month ago that they favored the decision to “withdraw all [U.S.] combat troops from Afghanistan by the end of August,” just 40 percent say the same today. Over the same period, opposition to Biden’s plan to withdraw increased from 22 percent to 28 percent.

Such a rapid shift is unwelcome if unsurprising news for the White House, which has struggled to explain how it failed to anticipate the speed with which the Taliban toppled the Afghan army and government, leaving diplomats and Afghans who assisted the U.S. effort scrambling to escape the country.

As a result, significantly more Americans now disapprove of Biden on foreign policy (48 percent) than approve (36 percent) — a sizable shift from last month, when the country was evenly divided on the question (42 percent disapproving to 41 percent approving). Notably, disapproval of Biden’s foreign policy increased by the same amount (7 points) among Democrats (to 18 percent) and Republicans (to 86 percent). CNN Correspondent Has Close Call With Taliban Outside Kabul Airport (VIDEO)

CNN correspondent Clarissa Ward says she was screamed at by Taliban fighters to cover her face and her producer was nearly pistol-whipped as the violence and chaos on the ground in Kabul escalates.

During a live cross near Kabul airport on Wednesday, Ward gave a harrowing account of the “mayhem” that’s occurring as thousands of Afghans — many who helped the US fight the war — plead with troops to evacuate them.

The 41-year-old TV reporter, who was wearing a hijab, told of how a Taliban fighter armed with a “huge makeshift whip” approached her near the airport perimeter while “shouting at me to cover my face.”

Maricopa Approves Financial Claim Against Arizona Senate for Cost of Voting Machines Subpoenaed for Audit

Maricopa County approved a financial claim against the Arizona Senate for reimbursement of the nearly $3 million spent to replace election equipment that was decommissioned due to the Republican-led chamber’s 2020 election audit.

The county’s board of supervisors voted unanimously on Wednesday to serve Senate President Karen Fann a notice of the claim, which seeks $2,833,220 for the cost of replacing machines “rendered useless” by the audit.

County supervisors emphasized the county was not filing a lawsuit against the state Senate with the financial claim. Instead, they sought to hold Fann accountable to an agreement she signed in April to indemnify the county of audit costs.

However, supervisor Bill Gates said the claim demonstrates the county reserves the right to sue if it has to “work out the payment” for the decommissioned machines.

It’s Official! Biden Admin Wants COVID Jabs Every Eight Months

U.S. health officials on Wednesday formally recommended booster shots for fully vaccinated individuals after 8 months of their vaccine series.

In a joint statement attributable to officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), and White House COVID-19 Response team, public health officials admitted they are beginning to see “evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease” in those who have been vaccinated:

Based on our latest assessment, the current protection against severe disease, hospitalization, and death could diminish in the months ahead, especially among those who are at higher risk or were vaccinated during the earlier phases of the vaccination rollout.

The statement recommended booster shots, which they said are “needed to maximize vaccine-induced protection and prolong its durability.” . . .

Biden Says US Will Require Nursing Homes Get Staff Vaccinated or Lose Federal Funds

President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that he is directing all nursing homes to require their staff be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to continue receiving Medicare and Medicaid funding.

Biden said he is directing the Department of Health and Human Services to draw up new regulations making employee vaccination a condition for nursing homes to participate in Medicare and Medicaid. The decision on nursing home staff represents a significant escalation in Biden’s campaign to get Americans vaccinated and the tools he is willing to use, marking the first time he has threatened to withhold federal funds in order to get people vaccinated.

“Now, if you visit, live or work at a nursing home, you should not be at a high risk of contracting Covid from unvaccinated employees. While I’m mindful that my authority at the federal government is limited, I’m going to continue to look for ways to keep people safe and increase vaccination rates,” the President said during a speech at the White House.

Additionally, the President announced that he is directing Education Secretary Miguel Cardona to use “all of his oversight authorities and legal action, if appropriate, against governors who are trying to block and intimidate local school officials and educators” who want children to wear masks in the classroom. Teen Suffers Heart Attack Days After Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine; Fully Vaccinated Americans Dying of COVID-19

By Danielle Ong. A 16-year-old boy in Singapore suffered a heart attack just days after receiving a shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.

Singaporean medical investigators said the teenager developed acute severe myocarditis six days after receiving his first dose of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine. He later suffered a heart attack.

“The myocarditis was likely a serious adverse event arising from the COVID-19 vaccine he received, which might have been aggravated by his strenuous lifting of weights and his high consumption of caffeine through energy drinks and supplements,” the Ministry of Health (MOH) said Monday in a press statement, according to Yahoo News.

The teenager is now recovering and is undergoing inpatient rehabilitation before he can resume his activities. Officials at the MOH said the boy is expected to be discharged in the coming weeks.

“The independent clinical panel appointed to assess and adjudicate the VIFAP application found that while he has made good improvement, because his condition was severe and critical, he will require treatment and rehabilitation for some time yet to continue his recovery,” the ministry said. 12 Fully Vaccinated Texans Die Of COVID-19

By Danielle Ong. dozen people in El Paso, Texas, have now died from COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated against the virus, according to authorities.

Health department officials from El Paso on Monday reported that 14 individuals have died of COVID-19 over the past week, including one fully vaccinated individual. All of the residents who died had underlying health conditions, which authorities did not identify.

Most of the fatality victims were men between the ages of 40 to 90. Two of the 14 victims were women in their 70s, according to KVIA.

El Paso has now reported 12 coronavirus-related deaths involving people who have been fully vaccinated against the virus. Overall, the city’s health officials have reported 2,744 deaths, including the unvaccinated.

Report: FBI Was in Possession of Viral Hunter Biden Video Saying Laptop Stolen by Russians — And Admitting It Would Be a Security Risk — As Early as 2019

A new report alleges that the FBI must have known as early as December 2019 that Hunter Biden thought Russians had stolen one of his laptops and would use compromising video stored on its hard drive to blackmail him or his father, who was running for president at the time.

The FBI’s knowledge of Biden’s beliefs would directly contradict what his father, President Joe Biden, told the American people in October 2020, when he insisted that videos, text messages, and emails from another abandoned MacBook laptop belonging to Hunter Biden were a Russian hoax.

Brian Della Rocca, an attorney representing John Paul Mac Isaac, told the Federalist on Wednesday that recently emerged video of Hunter Biden telling a prostitute he thought Russians might have blackmail on him was “definitely on the hard drive” of the laptop belonging to Biden that was seized by the FBI from Isaac’s Delaware-based computer repair shop.

“This new revelation establishes that, since December 2019, the FBI had knowledge that a second laptop had been stolen from Hunter Biden and that that laptop contained material making the Biden family a national security risk and subject to Russian influence,” Margot Cleveland wrote for the Federalist.

“Joe Biden surely received briefings on these risks well before his October 2020 denial of the authenticity of the laptop, so the question is: Did the FBI fail to provide Biden a truthful briefing on this intel, or did Biden fail to level with voters?” Cleveland asked. Report: Hospital Removed Sick Patients From Transplant Wait List After They Refused to Get the COVID Vaccine

A hospital in Washington state has reportedly removed multiple sick patients from its transplant wait list over their decision not to receive a coronavirus vaccine.

Conservative Seattle radio host Jason Rantz reported Tuesday that the University of Washington Medical Center has kicked “several patients” off its organ transplant list in recent months, citing an unofficial policy requiring transplant recipients to be vaccinated against the pathogen.

One of the patients, Derek Kovick, a 41-year-old man in need of a liver transplant, informed Rantz of the controversial hospital policy last week. Then shortly after, another patient, 64-year-old Sam Allen, came forward with his own story.

Allen, who suffers from a litany of heart-related medical conditions, told the radio host he had been on the hospital’s wait list for a heart transplant for more than two years. But in June, after doctors discovered that he was unvaccinated and had no plans to change that, he was informed that he would no longer be in line for the transplant. . .

“The cardiologist called me, and we had a discussion, and he informed me that, ‘Well, you’re going to have to get a vaccination to get a transplant.’ And I said, ‘Well that’s news to me and nobody’s ever told me that before.’ And he says, ‘Yeah, that’s our policy,'” Allen recalled.
