How Corey Johnson And Bill De Blasio Spent Your Money Like Drunken Sailors On Their Way Out

The Independence Day celebration started early for many New York activists and groups seeking taxpayer funding — thanks to the seasoned pork stuffed into the record-spending, $98.7 billion city budget just approved by Mayor Bill de Blasio and the City Council. . .

The funding under Johnson’s direct control — the Speaker’s Initiatives to Address Citywide Needs — skyrocketed from $6.79 million last year to $34.65 million in the Fiscal Year 2022 budget the council passed on June 30. That’s a 410-percent increase.

The boost in spending surfaced after critics privately grumbled that Johnson used his power over the budget as a slush fund to leverage support in his run for city comptroller, a position that is intended to serve as a fiscal watchdog for the city. . .

“This dramatic increase in Corey Johnson’s use of taxpayer dollars to benefit his campaign is another example of corruption. Once again, Corey uses the budget to favor those who support him and to punish those who question him,” said Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a rival in the Democratic primary for comptroller. . .

Johnson’s fund also directed funding to LGBT groups including $50,000 to CUNY’s student LGBTQ Leadership program, $50,000 to LaGuardia Community College’s LGBTQ Public History Project, $150,000 to the New Pride Center’s Dignity for All project, $100,000 to the LGBT Network and $100,000 for for services and advocacy LGBT Elders. Tragic Condo Collapse Death Toll Hits 28, 117 People Unaccounted (VIDEO)

The death toll in the Florida building collapse climbed to 28 on Monday, as officials warned foul weather from Tropical Storm Elsa was beginning to hamper search efforts.

Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said 117 people still remain unaccounted for at the site.

“The bad weather, unfortunately, has caused some temporary pauses of the work, specifically lightning, which, as you know, is not safe for conducting the search effort,” Cava said. “It does force us to stop to protect the safety of our first responders.”

The death toll rose when another body was recovered Monday afternoon. Three other bodies had found overnight.

Cava said rescue teams will continue to work as they are able and have now removed 4.8 million pounds of concrete. (Read more from “Tragic Condo Collapse Death Toll Hits 28, 117 People Unaccounted (VIDEO)” HERE)

California Has Found a New Way to Penalize Pro-Second Amendment Americans

. . .In San Jose, the city is mulling charging gun owners to cover the cost of firearm-related violence (via Axios):

San Jose will require gun owners to compensate taxpayers for gun-related emergency responses, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Why it matters: It’s the first U.S. city to take such a step. The move, approved unanimously by the San Jose City Council on Tuesday, comes after last month’s mass shooting at a transit station in the city.

The big picture: The ordinance requires every firearm owner to buy liability insurance coverage and pay an annual fee for medical and police responses to gun-related injuries and deaths, the Chronicle reports.

Officials haven’t decided how much gun owners would be required to pay annually but the amount would be determined following a gun harm study from the Pacific Institute on Research and Evaluation, which is expected to be completed this fall.

Facebook Roasted For Blocking Hashtag ‘Revolution’ On Independence Day Weekend

Facebook came under fire Sunday for blocking the hashtag “revolution” on the Fourth of July, a federal holiday celebrating the passage of the Declaration of Independence during the American Revolution.

Sharp-eyed social-media mavens noticed starting Friday that Facebook searches for “#revolution” were met with a “Keeping Our Community Safe” notification with an image of a locked page and the message, “Posts with revolution are temporarily hidden here.”

“Some content in those posts goes against our Community Standards,” said the message, which included a link to the standards page.

Facebook bars a host of content that violates its community standards under categories that include “Violence and Incitement,” “Sexual Solicitation” and “False News,” but the tech platform did not explain online why “#revolution” had been canceled.

The block was still in effect Sunday, prompting plenty of commentary from critics about the decision to prohibit the hashtag on a weekend dedicated to commemorating the American Revolution. (Read more from “Facebook Roasted For Blocking Hashtag ‘Revolution’ On Independence Day Weekend” HERE)

NYTimes Sparks July 4 Outrage By Claiming American Flag ‘Alienating To Some’

The New York Times sparked fireworks with an Independence Day report on the political implications of displaying the American flag — just weeks after being forced to defend an editorial writer who said she was “really disturbed” to see Old Glory flown by supporters of former President Donald Trump.

The Times article — with the online headline “A Fourth of July Symbol of Unity That May No Longer Unite” — suggests that Trump supporters have embraced the flag “so fervently” that liberals have “all but ceded the national emblem to the right.”

“Today, flying the American flag from the back of a pickup truck or over a lawn is increasingly seen as a clue, albeit an imperfect one, to a person’s political affiliation in a deeply divided nation,” the Times tweeted on Saturday, with a link to their piece, “A Fourth of July Symbol of Unity That May No Longer Unite.”

In the piece, author Sarah Maslin Nir quotes a few individuals who believe that the flag has become so politicized that they now think twice about flying it outside their homes or businesses.

“What was once a unifying symbol – there is a star on it for each state, after all – is now alienating to some, its stripes now fault lines between people who kneel while ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ plays and those for whom not pledging allegiance is an affront,” Nir wrote.

Report: ‘The Science’ Doesn’t Support Masks for Children

Those mask mandates imposed for the COVID pandemic could be hurting kids, and the vaccines could be killing them, according to a new Just the News report that cites several medical journals and studies.

“Measured carbon dioxide content in ‘inhaled air,’ observed in a study of masked German schoolchildren, was at least three-fold higher than German law allows, according to a research letter published this week in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics,” the report said. And, “Last week, the journal Vaccines, affiliated with the American Society for Virology, published research that estimates every three COVID-19 deaths prevented by vaccination are offset by two deaths ‘inflicted by vaccination,’ using Israeli and European data.”

Masks and vaccines — and lockdowns — have been among America’s main responses to the virus that likely originated with a Chinese lab in Wuhan that works with the Chinese Communist Party’s military.

Those defensive strategies were adopted over treatments with ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine that some studies have suggested are effective against the virus.

The Just the News report cited the work of Harald Walach, the lead author of both studies, who is a professor Poznan University of the Medical Sciences’ Pediatric Clinic in Poland and University of Witten/Herdecke’s psychology department in Germany. Dem Rep.: July 4 ‘Is for White People,’ ‘Black People Still Aren’t Free,’ America Is ‘Stolen Land’

Independence Day is about freedom for whites, while blacks “still aren’t free,” wrote Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) on Sunday, July 4.

In accordance with the left-wing style pushed by news media of capitalizing “black,” but not “white,” in reference to people, Bush tweeted, “When they say that the 4th of July is about American freedom, remember this: the freedom they’re referring to is for white people. This land is stolen land and Black people still aren’t free.”

Bush’s congressional campaign in 2020 aligned itself with the Black Lives Matter apparatus. She became the first black congresswoman from Missouri. She has regularly framed politics in racial terms, using phrases such as “white supremacy,” “systemic racism,” “black liberation,” and “racial justice,” and “structural inequity.”

Independence Day 2021: Marvel Comics Makes Captain America Say American Dream ‘Is a Lie’

Just ahead of Independence Day, Marvel Comics featured a new Captain America issue in which the Captain slams the American dream as a false promise.

The first issue of the new series, “The United States of Captain America,” by writer Christopher Cantwell, was published on June 30, only four days before the country traditionally celebrates its day of independence from Great Britain.

As the issue begins, Steve Rogers — the original Cap — grouses about how America is built on “lies.”

“I’m loyal to nothing. Except the dream,” Rogers says early in the issue. “Here’s the thing about a dream, though. A dream isn’t real… I’m starting to think America actually has two dreams. And one lie. The first American dream is the one that isn’t real. It’s one some people expect to just be handed to them. And then they get angry when it disappears. When the truth is, it never really existed in the first place.”

He adds that the dream with the “white picket fences” is a lie that “doesn’t get along nicely with reality. Other cultures. Immigrants. The poor.” (Read more from “Independence Day 2021: Marvel Comics Makes Captain America Say American Dream ‘Is a Lie’” HERE)

County Where Critical Race Theory Debate Erupted in Violence Gave Staff ‘Coaching’

Newly unveiled documents from Virginia’s Loudoun County Public Schools show the district paid more than $34,000 for 55 hours of critical race theory coaching last year and slides contrasting “White Individualism” with “Color Group Collectivism.”

The documents, obtained through a freedom of information request from a Loudoun parent, show a framework for “culturally responsive” teaching from the Equity Collaborative, an equity consulting firm that offers courses on critical race theory.

Ian Prior, a former Justice Department official with children in the district and executive director of Fight For Schools, said a parent volunteering for the group had filed the public record request. . .

One slide focuses heavily on Black and Latino issues, but the presentation as a whole makes no mention of other minority groups, including Asian Americans, who have the largest minority presence in Loudoun.

“Under ‘Establishing Inclusion’ and ‘Developing a Positive Attitude,’ every culture is excluded except for Black Americans and Latino Americans,” Shawntel Cooper told Fox News Thursday evening. “We shouldn’t be excluding anyone.” (Read more from “County Where Critical Race Theory Debate Erupted in Violence Gave Staff ‘Coaching'” HERE)
