Left-Wing Media Outlets Paid Antifa Activist for Footage From Capitol Breach

Three news agencies paid a man who identifies as an Antifa activist and was charged with allegedly committing crimes during the Jan. 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol for video footage he captured during the mayhem.

CNN, NBC, and the Australian Broadcasting Corp. (ABC) paid John Earle Sullivan thousands of dollars to use video clips he shot inside the building, according to a new court filing.

CNN paid $35,000, NBC paid $35,000, and ABC paid $2,375, according to invoices that were filed with the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Sullivan, 26, was arrested and charged last month with multiple crimes on Jan. 6, including violent entry, civil disorder, and disorderly conduct. . .

Video footage, some of which was filmed by Sullivan, showed the Utah man illegally entering the Capitol building and urging others to go inside and burn the structure down. CNN also hosted Sullivan for an on-air interview later on Jan. 6, along with Jade Sacker, a freelancer who has had work published by various outlets. Conservative Icon, Talk Radio Pioneer Rush Limbaugh Has Passed Away

By Fox News. Rush Limbaugh, the monumentally influential media icon who transformed talk radio and politics in his decades behind the microphone, helping shape the modern-day Republican Party, died Wednesday morning at the age of 70 after a battle with lung cancer, his family announced.

Limbaugh’s wife, Kathryn, made the announcement on his radio show. “Losing a loved one is terribly difficult, even more so when that loved one is larger than life,” she said. “Rush will forever be the greatest of all time.”

The radio icon learned he had Stage IV lung cancer in January 2020 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump at the State of the Union address days later. First lady Melania Trump then presented America’s highest civilian honor to Limbaugh in an emotional moment on the heels of his devastating cancer diagnosis.

Limbaugh is considered one of the most influential media figures in American history and has played a consequential role in conservative politics since “The Rush Limbaugh Show” began in 1988. Perched behind his Golden EIB (Excellence in Broadcasting) Microphone, Limbaugh spent over three decades as arguably both the most beloved and polarizing person in American media.

The program that began 33 years ago on national syndication with only 56 radio stations grew to be the most listened-to radio show in the United States, airing on more than 600 stations, according to the show’s website. Up to 27 million people tuned in on a weekly basis and Limbaugh has lovingly referred to his passionate fan base as “Dittoheads,” as they would often say “ditto” when agreeing with the iconic radio host. Trump Sparks a GOP Civil War With SCATHING McConnell Rebuke; These 3 Republicans Have Broken With Mitch McConnell to Stand With Trump

By PJ Media. On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump released a scathing denunciation of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), launching a civil war in the Republican Party. In a speech after the Senate voted to acquit Trump on charges of impeachment related to the Capitol riot on January 6, McConnell had echoed Democratic talking points, explaining that he only voted to acquit Trump because he thought it unconstitutional to convict a former president who had already left office.

“Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again. He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our Country,” Trump declared. “Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.”

On Sunday, McConnell had condemned Trump for “false statements, conspiracy theories, and reckless hyperbole” after the 2020 election. He also condemned “the increasingly wild myths — myths — about a reversed landslide election.” McConnell acknowledged that Democrats have engaged in reckless remarks that may have incited violence, but he insisted that Trump’s rhetoric was worse. . .

“The Republican Party can never again be respected or strong with political ‘leaders’ like Sen. Mitch McConnell at its helm,” Trump declared. “McConnell’s dedication to business as usual, status quo policies, together with his lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality, has rapidly driven him from Majority Leader to Minority Leader, and it will only get worse. The Democrats and Chuck Schumer play McConnell like a fiddle—they’ve never had it so good—and they want to keep it that way!” (Read more from “Trump Sparks a GOP Civil War With SCATHING McConnell Rebuke” HERE)

These 3 Republicans Have Broken With Mitch McConnell to Stand With Trump

By Newsweek. Three Republican congress members have criticized Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for his February 13 speech blaming Donald Trump for inciting the January 6 insurrection at the Capitol. . .

On Monday, Florida Representative Matt Gaetz criticized McConnell in a Fox News interview, calling him part of the “new incarnations in the Republican party from those trying to purge Trumpism from our movement.” . . .

On Monday, Republican Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson also criticized McConnell’s remarks. . .

In a Sunday interview with Fox News, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said that McConnell’s speech “is an outlier regarding how Republicans feel about all this.” While McConnell “got a load off his chest,” Graham said, he “unfortunately he put a load on the back of Republicans.” (Read more from “These 3 Republicans Have Broken With Mitch McConnell to Stand With Trump” HERE)

Trump Says GOP Won’t Win With McConnell, Plans to Back MAGA Primary Candidates

By The Epoch Times. Former President Donald Trump, in a strongly-worded statement, criticized Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) leadership and said the Republican Party won’t be successful in the future with McConnell at the helm.

The former president’s statement, which was released through his Save America PAC on Feb. 15, blamed McConnell for the GOP’s 2020 loss of the Senate majority. He asserted that McConnell’s move not to support calls from Democrats and Trump for $2,000 stimulus payments was weaponized by Democrats, who promised the checks to voters if they won the Jan. 5 runoff elections in Georgia.

“He will never do what needs to be done, or what is right for our Country. Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First. We want brilliant, strong, thoughtful, and compassionate leadership,” Trump said.

“Then came the Georgia disaster, where we should have won both U.S. Senate seats, but McConnell matched the Democrat offer of $2,000 stimulus checks with $600. How does that work?” the former president added. “It became the Democrats’ principal advertisement, and a big winner for them it was.” (Read more from “Trump Says GOP Won’t Win With McConnell, Plans to Back MAGA Primary Candidates” HERE)

State Senators Say Time Is Right to Revoke Andrew Cuomo’s Emergency Powers

Some of New York’s Democratic state senators have joined their Republican colleagues in saying that the time is right to revoke Governor Andrew Cuomo’s expanded emergency powers, which were put in place last spring in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Republicans in the state legislature have been asking for Cuomo’s expanded emergency powers to be revoked for months, but their calls to do so recently received support from a handful of Democratic lawmakers. Fourteen Democratic state senators released a joint statement on February 12 calling for an early revocation of those emergency powers, which they said were “no longer appropriate” for Cuomo to possess.

“While COVID-19 has tested the limits of our people and state–and, early during the pandemic, required the government to restructure decision making to render rapid, necessary public health judgments—it is clear that the expanded emergency powers granted to the Governor are no longer acceptable,” the senators’ joint statement said. Trump Impeachment Lawyer Describes in-Fighting During Trial

Former President Donald Trump’s legal team got him acquitted of the charges he faced in the Senate, but days after, one of them is providing insight into the team’s dysfunction.

David Schoen, one of Trump’s lead attorneys for the case, criticized his former co-counselor in an interview with Jewish Insider published on Monday, arguing that former acting Pennsylvania Attorney General Bruce Castor assumed outsize influence even though he was supposed to play a supporting role.

“[Trump’s team] asked me if I would work with [Castor], if I would take the lead and so on, but then, [Castor] would help me, and he has a firm that can help and all that,” he said. “I’m not sure that message was communicated to him clearly enough because he never seemed to quite understand that I was supposed to be the lead in the case.”

Castor’s blueprint called for Schoen to focus on the Senate’s jurisdiction in the matter, which would leave him largely sidelined after the first day of the trial. Stepping into the lead role himself, Castor “jumped in” to present the defense’s case on the first day of trial. The presentation was disparaged by Schoen, who said Castor’s argument was “like a filibuster” and “not a good presentation.”

Trump, who reportedly asked Schoen to join the team first in a lead role, was also unimpressed by Castor’s performance and called on Schoen to play a more active role in his defense. (Read more from “Trump Impeachment Lawyer Describes in-Fighting During Trial” HERE)

Bill Gates: ‘All Rich Nations Should Move to 100% Synthetic Beef’ to Combat Climate Change

Bill Gates wants wealthier nations around the globe to ditch eating beef and instead switch to lab-grown or plant-based alternative “meats” in an effort to combat climate change. . .

The Microsoft cofounder sat down with MIT Technology Review to plug his new book, “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster,” and provided his views on what possible solutions might be viable — or not.

One area where Gates has become more optimistic is in the idea of transitioning folks away from beef, since cows are notoriously viewed as damaging to the environment due to emissions from their flatulence.

On this topic, Gates told MIT, “In terms of livestock, it’s very difficult. There are all the things where they feed them different food, like there’s this one compound that gives you a 20% reduction [in methane emissions]. But sadly, those bacteria [in their digestive system that produce methane] are a necessary part of breaking down the grass. And so I don’t know if there’ll be some natural approach there. I’m afraid the synthetic [protein alternatives like plant-based burgers] will be required for at least the beef thing.”

Gates went on to plug a number of firms he invests in that produce meat alternatives, such as Memphis Meats, Beyond Meat, and Impossible Foods, noting that “as for scale today, they don’t represent 1% of the meat in the world, but they’re on their way.” (Read more from “Bill Gates: ‘All Rich Nations Should Move to 100% Synthetic Beef’ to Combat Climate Change” HERE)

Texas’s ‘Nightmare’ Energy Situation Is a Warning to the Rest of America

Millions of Texans have lost power in the middle of a cold snap that brought below-freezing temperatures across the state. Struggling to keep warm in homes that are poorly insulated, some are turning to unsafe methods that will likely get them killed. One resident told The Washington Post that after only eight hours without power in Houston it was like an “apocalypse,” and she feared they’d “see a nightmare situation in the next few days.”

Commenting on the blackout in his home state, former Energy Secretary Rick Perry pointed out how important it is to have a diverse energy landscape. In recent years, however, reliance on coal has declined while renewable energy sources have been increasing.

How’s that working out? We’re seeing it play out now, Fox News’s Tucker Carlson said Monday during his monologue.

“The windmills froze, so the power grid failed. Millions of Texans woke up Monday morning having to boil their water because with no electricity, it couldn’t be purified,” he commented, noting the Green New Deal has arrived.

“The ironically named Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which oversees the grid, had no solution to any of this. They simply told people to stop using so much power to keep warm,” Carlson continued. “So in Houston, hundreds of shivering Texans headed to the convention center like refugees to keep from freezing to death. Some Texans almost certainly did freeze to death. Later this week, we’ll likely learn just how many more were killed as they tried to keep warm with jury-rigged heaters and barbecues and car exhaust.” (Read more from “Texas’s ‘Nightmare’ Energy Situation Is a Warning to the Rest of America” HERE)

Comey Admitted He Had Nothing to ‘Sufficiently Corroborate’ Steele Dossier but Signed a Spy Warrant Anyway

On the same day he approved a FISA surveillance warrant application verifying reporting by Christopher Steele, former FBI Director James Comey admitted in an email to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper that he was “not able to sufficiently corroborate the reporting” provided in Christopher Steele’s now-disproved dossier.

“We are not able to sufficiently corroborate the reporting,” Comey wrote.

In a report published on Monday, JustTheNews outlined how Comey emailed Clapper on Jan. 12, 2017, to object to his line stating “the [Intelligence Community] has not made any judgment that the information in the document is reliable and we did not rely on it in any way for our conclusions.” In his reply, Comey explained he took issue with the statement because he believed the FBI “concluded that the source is reliable and has a track record with us of reporting reliable information.” This determination, however, he admitted, had no other supporting proof in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation.

“It might be better to say ‘we have not been able to sufficiently corroborate the information to include it in the body of Russia report but, for a variety of reasons, we thought it important to include it in our report to our senior-most audience,’” Comey concluded.

Even though Comey admitted the lack of corroboration for the dossier, the bureau head signed a renewal FISA warrant to allow for extended spying on Trump campaign affiliate Carter Page on the same day, opening up the door for a longer Russia collusion investigation into information he was already forewarned about. Later-declassified documents suggest Comey decided to sign the warrant — even after he was alerted by the CIA that Page was not a Russian spy but was actually assisting U.S. intelligence efforts, after he was warned that Steele may not be a reliable source of information, after Steele was fired for leaking confidential information to corporate media outlets, and after recommendations to cancel the probe into incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn “for lack of evidence.” (Read more from “Comey Admitted He Had Nothing to ‘Sufficiently Corroborate’ Steele Dossier but Signed a Spy Warrant Anyway” HERE)

Ghislaine Maxwell Claims She Was Abused by Prison Guard

Ghislaine Maxwell was physically abused by a jail guard during a pat down search and is “withering to a shell” behind bars, dropping weight and losing her hair, an attorney for the accused madam said in court papers filed Tuesday.

In the letter to Judge Alison Nathan, Maxwell’s attorney complained about conditions she faces at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, including sleep deprivation, inedible food and the alleged abuse by a jail guard.

The letter states Maxwell is subject to constant searches — about four per day — and surveillance by jail guards, which she claims is to make up for the Bureau of Prisons’ failure to protect her alleged cohort, Jeffrey Epstein, from killing himself in 2019.

“Ms. Maxwell continues to be at the mercy of a revolving group of security officers who are used to guarding hundreds of inmates but now focus their undivided attention exclusively on one respectful, middle-aged female pretrial detainee,” Maxwell’s attorney, Bobbi Sternheim, wrote.

“Recently, out of view of the security camera, Ms. Maxwell was placed in her isolation cell and physically abused during a pat down search. When she asked that the camera be used to capture the occurrence, a guard replied ‘no.’ When Ms. Maxwell recoiled in pain and when she said she would report the mistreatment, she was threatened with disciplinary action,” Sternheim added. White House Asks Illegal Aliens: Please Don’t Rush the Border, as ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy Ends

The White House on Tuesday urged potential Central American asylum seekers not to rush the US-Mexico border as President Biden ends former President Donald Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy.

The 2018 policy required asylum seekers arriving at the Mexico border to await a decision on their claims before entering the US. . .

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan and his deputy Liz Sherwood-Randall said in a statement that the initial rollback of “Remain in Mexico” will apply only to the 71,000 asylum seekers who are already part of the program.

“If you seek entry into the US and do not have an active MPP case, you will be immediately expelled and will not be permitted to remain in the United States,” they said. (Read more from “White House Asks Illegal Aliens: Please Don’t Rush the Border, as ‘Remain in Mexico’ Policy Ends” HERE)
