Democrats in the House served as impeachment managers, or de facto prosecutors, trying to convince the Senate to convict Trump on the charge [of incitement of insurrection].

“Senators, what greater offense could one commit then to incite a violent insurrection at our seat of government during the peaceful transfer of power?” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the lead impeachment manager, said during the trial. . .

Pelosi Furious Over Result

By WND. It’s the third day of the second impeachment trial of former President Trump, but a liberal constitutional scholar says not only that the Democrats haven’t made a case for conviction, they were doomed from the start.

In a Fox News interview Thursday afternoon, Jonathan Turley, who testified in the first impeachment investigation one year ago, said the House “dug a pretty deep hole” in adopting the article of impeachment charging incitement of insurrection.

The Democrats have to make that case, he said, backed up by witnesses and evidence, and they haven’t. . .

“If reckless rhetoric is the standard, then the American public will have trouble distinguishing between the accused, the jurors and the prosecutors,” he said, referring to the inflammatory statements of many Democrats.

In this “snap impeachment,” the law professor said, the Democrats don’t have any witnesses. At one point, for example, they cited a senior aide who spoke to CNN under condition he not be named. But that’s not good enough in a trial, he said, and the Democrats had plenty of time to speak with that aide themselves. Trump Defense Shatters Democrat ‘Very Fine People’ Lie

By WND. A defense attorney for President Trump in the Senate impeachment trial on Friday refuted the oft-repeated “Charlottesville lie” that Joe Biden says prompted him to run for president.

House impeachment managers played a selectively edited video of Trump’s 2017 remark on Thursday, claiming he referred to neo-Nazi rioters as “very fine people.”

But David Schoen was ready with the full video, which shows the left has been dishonestly manipulating Trump’s words to back their claim that he is a white supremacist.

“There’s that famous quote, like one of the house managers said, ‘A lie will travel halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to put its shoes on,'” Schoen began.

“Well, this lie traveled around the world a few times, and made its way into the Biden campaign talking points, and ended up on the Senate floor. The Charlottesville lie, ‘very fine people on both sides.’ Except that isn’t all he said, and they knew it then, and they know it now. Watch this.”

Dems’ Impeachment Team Presented Falsely ‘Verified’ Tweets at Trial

By Fox News. A senior impeachment aide said the inclusion of a fake blue check verification mark on tweets that were presented at the Senate trial was an accident.

The tweets showed comments from Jennifer Lynn Lawrence who was retweeted by former President Trump. The two tweets that were exhibited included blue check marks next to Lawrence’s name.

Blue checks show the user’s identity has been verified and also connote a certain status.

“The final graphic accidentally had a blue verification checkmark on it, but the substance of it was entirely accurate,” the aide said.

Jonathan Turley: Trump Impeachment – Lee-Raskin Exchange Reveals This Glaring Hole in the Case

By Fox News. At the end of its first day of argument, the Senate impeachment trial was thrown into chaos when a “juror” stood up like a scene out of Perry Mason to contest the veracity statements made by “prosecutors.”

That moment came as the Senate was preparing to end for the day. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, jumped to his feet to object that a quote by House manager Rep. David Cicilline, D-R.I., was false. Lee should know. They were purportedly his words.

After a frenzy on the floor and a delay of proceedings, lead House manager Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., announced that they would withdraw Cicilline’s statements and that “this is much ado about nothing, because it’s not critical in anyway to our case.”

In reality, it had much to do about the manager’s case and highlights a glaring problem in it.

The House has elected to try this case of incitement of insurrection largely on circumstantial evidence and using media reports rather than witness testimony. It is trial by innuendo and implication rather than direct evidence of what former President Donald Trump knew and intended on Jan. 6. White House Aide Threatens Reporter, “I Will Destroy You,” Gets Suspended

White House deputy press secretary T.J. Ducklo has been suspended for a week without pay after he reportedly issued a sexist and profane threat to a journalist seeking to cover his relationship with another reporter.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement Friday that Ducklo had been suspended without pay with the approval of White House chief of staff Ron Klain. She said Ducklo “is the first to acknowledge this is not the standard of behavior set out” by President Joe Biden, and that Ducklo had sent the reporter in question “a personal note professing his profound regret.”

Ducklo’s personal life came under scrutiny earlier this week when Politico reported on his relationship with a reporter for the news outlet Axios who was assigned to cover the Biden campaign and its transition. Before Politico broke the story Tuesday, People Magazine published a glowing profile of the relationship. It was the first time either one had publicly acknowledged the relationship.

Biden Administration Sitting on $1 Trillion in Unspent COVID-19 Relief Funds

Before the Biden administration takes another $1.9 trillion out of the nation’s wallet for COVID-19 relief, fiscal hawks are urging the White House to first spent about $1 trillion in unspent previously approved virus money.

According to a Republican Study Committee tally, $4 trillion has already been appropriated for relief, and Biden’s plan would grow that 50%, an amount even GOP supporters of a big coronavirus package call too rich.

The government is sitting on about $1 trillion in unspent money. House leaders have asked the administration to identify that funding, but so far, the White House has refused.

“Unfortunately, the only ones who have those details are in the Biden administration, but they’re being tight-lipped,” said a GOP source.

Hunter Biden holds his stake in BHR Partners through his company, Skaneateles LLC, according to business records from China’s National Credit Information Publicity System.

President Joe Biden promised on multiple occasions during his presidential campaign that no one in his family would be engaged in foreign business if he won his election.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki confirmed last Friday that Hunter Biden still held a position in BHR and was in the process of divesting from the firm. . .

However, Hunter Biden’s lawyer George Mesires has not responded to numerous inquiries from the Daily Caller News Foundation asking when he expects to be divested from BHR and whether he will receive any return on his $420,000 initial investment in the firm. This is the 17th State To Abolish Concealed Carry Permit Requirement

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) signed legislation Friday to abolish the requirement that law-abiding citizens acquire a concealed carry permit in order to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense.

The NRA-ILA reports that Cox signed House Bill 60 into law. They noted that HB60 allows “a law-abiding adult to carry a concealed firearm in the State of Utah, without first needing to obtain government permission.” . . .

On March 12, 2019, Breitbart News reported those 16 states as Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. COVID Insanity: University Bans Solo Outdoor Exercise, Doctor Fired for Administering Expiring Vaccine Doses

. . .One might assume that the San Francisco school board’s destructive machinations are the most cartoonishly absurd acts being carried out by educational officials in the Bay Area recently, but the brain trust over at the University of California at Berkeley is giving them a run for their money. Cal students are basically inmates in a low-security jail at this point:

“Due to the 14 day incubation period of this virus, it is too early to be sure we have contained this current surge,” the email states. “We understand this extension is frustrating, but please understand this will help us mitigate further spread while protecting our community.” There may be an increase in Community Security Officers and security staff in residence halls, according to the email. Staff may be checking students’ testing badges and Cal 1 Cards more frequently. The email added that noncompliance with campus directives will result in serious residential conduct sanctions. These may include being disqualified from housing or suspension from UC Berkeley. Students are encouraged to report self-sequester protocol violations to their resident assistants. “We don’t wish for residents to be alarmed by this increased UCPD presence, but we must ensure the health of our community,” the email reads.

The email reminded students that they must stay in their room except in case of emergency or to obtain medical care, comply with testing requirements or receive food from the Cal Dining kiosks. Lunch is available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and students can pick up dinner and breakfast between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Unlike the previous self-sequester, students are now unable to leave their room for solo outdoor exercise, according to the email. Campus is working with the city of Berkeley to determine whether outdoor exercise is permitted. “Right now it is critical that you avoid gatherings — large or small — even with your residential household grouping, whether indoors or outdoors, and even if your most recent COVID test is negative,” the email states.

But don’t worry, Cal adds, “Counseling and Psychological Services is available for virtual counseling appointments and help finding resources.” If isolated students become depressed or emotionally unwell – how couldn’t they? – they are welcome to sign up for a Zoom session with a counselor. They are not welcome to walk outdoors to see a counselor in a socially-distanced setting, of course. That would be dangerous. And again, don’t fret because campus leaders are “working with the city of Berkeley to determined whether outdoor exercise is permitted.” I don’t know what to call this other than abusive, anti-science, and totally insane. Meanwhile, this story made me want to unleash a primal scream:

The Texas doctor had six hours. Now that a vial of Covid-19 vaccine had been opened on this late December night, he had to find 10 eligible people for its remaining doses before the precious medicine expired. In six hours. Scrambling, the doctor made house calls and directed people to his home outside Houston. Some were acquaintances; others, strangers. A bed-bound nonagenarian. A woman in her 80s with dementia. A mother with a child who uses a ventilator. After midnight, and with just minutes before the vaccine became unusable, the doctor, Hasan Gokal, gave the last dose to his wife, who has a pulmonary disease that leaves her short of breath. For his actions, Dr. Gokal was fired from his government job and then charged with stealing 10 vaccine doses worth a total of $135 — a shun-worthy misdemeanor that sent his name and mug shot rocketing around the globe.

By Breitbart. Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s (D-NY) top aide admitted that her team withheld the number of deaths related to COVID-19 in New York’s nursing homes to shield the Cuomo government from federal investigation and political scrutiny. . .

In a recorded call with state Democrat lawmakers, DeRosa said Cuomo’s team feared a federal investigation in the context of former President Donald Trump’s highlighting of coronavirus-related deaths in New York’s nursing homes. This fear motivated Cuomo’s government to suppress the statistics against requests for such information from the state’s government and citizens’ organizations. . .

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) called for an obstruction of justice investigation into Cuomo and New York’s executive branch.

Rep. Steve Scalise (D-LA) told Breitbart News in August that New York families who had loved ones die from COVID-19 asked him for help in obtaining information from Cuomo related to nursing home deaths.

Cuomo Coverup: Aide Admits They Intentionally Hid Nursing Home Data From Feds

By New York Post. Governor Cuomo’s top aide privately apologized to Democratic lawmakers for withholding the state’s nursing-home death toll from COVID-19 — telling them “we froze” out of fear the true numbers would “be used against us” by federal prosecutors, The Post has learned.

The stunning admission of a cover-up was made by Secretary to the Governor Melissa DeRosa during a video conference call with state Democratic leaders in which she said the Cuomo administration had rebuffed a legislative request for the tally in August because “right around the same time, [then-President Donald Trump] turns this into a giant political football,” according to an audio recording of the two-hour-plus meeting.

“He starts tweeting that we killed everyone in nursing homes,” DeRosa said. “He starts going after [New Jersey Gov. Phil] Murphy, starts going after [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom, starts going after [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer.”

In addition to attacking Cuomo’s fellow Democratic governors, DeRosa said, Trump “directs the Department of Justice to do an investigation into us.”

Twitter Defends Lincoln Project Cofounder on Unwanted Sexual Advances

Twitter says that disgraced Lincoln Project cofounder John Weaver did not violate its rules on unwanted sexual advances when he allegedly used the platform’s direct messaging system to sexually proposition young men. . .

A Twitter spokesman told Breitbart News that the platform had looked into the matter and found no violations of its policies.

Over twenty young men have said John Weaver, who still has an active account on the platform, used Twitter’s direct messages feature to send them unwanted sexual advances.

Many screenshots of these direct messages have been published. One of the alleged victims was 14 years old, according to the New York Times.

The Lincoln Project has cut ties with Weaver as a result. But the Associated Press found that leaders of the anti-Trump organization were aware of the allegations against Weaver as early as June last of last year. Dems Have Another Idea To Punish Trump if Senate Acquits Him

As the impeachment trial for former President Donald Trump continues on, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) did not rule out another avenue to punish the former president if he is ultimately acquitted by the Senate.

The New York Democrat indicated that his party could invoke section 3 of the 14th amendment, which allows Congress to ban those who have engaged in “insurrection or rebellion” from running for public office.

“No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who…shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof,” the amendment reads, adding that Congress shall “have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions.”
