Maxine Waters: ‘I Don’t Know’ If Biden Has What It Takes to Beat Trump

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee, said Tuesday she doesn’t know if Joe Biden has what it takes to defeat President Trump and declined to share her opinion of the former vice president’s fitness for office.

Waters was asked if she is supporting Biden or Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) in the Democratic presidential primary.

“It’s not about who you like,” Waters told Just the News on Capitol Hill ahead of Tuesday’s presidential primaries. “It’s about now watching and understanding who can beat Trump.”

Asked if Biden could beat Trump, she replied, “I don’t know, but we’ll see.”

President Trump has criticized Biden’s gaffes on the campaign trail. Asked if she thinks Biden has the fitness for office given his gaffes, Waters wheeled instead on the president. (Read more from “Maxine Waters: ‘I Don’t Know’ If Biden Has What It Takes to Beat Trump” HERE)

U.S. and Coalition Troops Killed in Rocket Attack in Iraq

Two Americans and one other coalition member were killed in a rocket attack on a base in Iraq on Wednesday night, a U.S. military spokesman said, potentially spiking tensions with Iran about two months after a series of bloody events that were capped by the death of an Iranian general in a U.S. drone strike.

At least 12 people were wounded in the attack at Camp Taji, about 17 miles north of Baghdad, according to the spokesman, Navy Capt. Bill Urban. About 18 Katyusha rockets hit the base, and five of the wounded were evacuated in serious condition, Urban said.

The rockets were launched from the Rashediya area of northeast Baghdad, Iraqi military officials said in a statement. Iraqi forces found a truck rigged with rockets a few miles away from the base, the U.S. military said in a statement.

U.S. officials have attributed the use of such rockets in attacks to Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, prompting questions how the United States and its allies might respond. (Read more from “U.S. and Coalition Troops Killed in Rocket Attack in Iraq” HERE)

Rep. Ilhan Omar Announces Marriage to Political Strategist

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) announced on Instagram Wednesday night that she has remarried, posting a picture flashing rings with her political strategist, Tim Mynett, with whom she previously denied having an affair. . .

“Got married! From partners in politics to life partners, so blessed,” Omar wrote along with the picture on Instagram, adding, “Alhamdulillah.” . . .

The apparent nuptials happened last week, according to the Daily Mail, which has covered Omar’s relationship history closely. The outlet reported last month that Omar and Mynett were caught carrying on an affair by one of Omar’s previous husbands.

The marriage is reportedly Omar’s fourth, and Mynett is her third husband. The Minnesota Democrat was married twice before to Ahmed Hirsi, with whom she shares three children. In between her marriages to Hirsi, Omar wed Ahmed Elmi, whom watchdog groups allege is actually her brother. . .

Tom Fitton, president of watchdog group Judicial Watch, reacted to the news Wednesday night by tweeting, “Months after @JudicialWatch requests expanded ethics investigation into whether Ilhan Omar campaign funds improperly used for alleged paramour, she reportedly just married this man — further suggesting the payments were shady!”

Study Reveals How Long Coronavirus Can Live in the Air and on Surfaces

Coronavirus, which has caused more than 4,500 deaths across the globe, can remain viable in the air for up to three hours, and on plastic and stainless steel for up to three days, according to a study conducted by a team of U.S. government researchers released Wednesday.

The lead author of the study cautioned that the findings do not prove that coronavirus can be transmitted through the air, only that it is “theoretically possible.”

“We’re not by any way saying there is aerosolized transmission of the virus,” Neeltje van Doremalen, a scientist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, told The Associated Press.

The virus, referred to as both COVID-19 and HCoV-19, is being transmitted rapidly in some way, either through person-to-person contact, or through particles in the air or on surfaces. U.S. health experts have urged the public to take precautions to avoid becoming infected and transmitting coronavirus. Frequent hand-washing, avoiding handshakes, and large crowds in certain areas is recommended.

As of Wednesday, more than 120,000 people across the globe — as well as 1,100 Americans — tested positive for the virus. Thirty-three people have died in the U.S., and more than 4,500 in all. The number of cases in the U.S. has more than tripled since March 6. (Read more from “Study Reveals How Long Coronavirus Can Live in the Air and on Surfaces” HERE)

Military Surgeon: ‘Trump Is Right’ on the Seasonal Flu Being More Dangerous Than Coronavirus; 31 Dead in the U.S.; Trump Says He’s Open to Being Tested for Coronavirus

By Breitbart. Air Force Brig. Gen. Paul A. Friedrichs, Joint Staff Surgeon, said Tuesday at a Pentagon briefing that President Trump is “right” that the seasonal flu is more dangerous than the coronavirus.

“So, the president is right. I know you’re shocked that I said that, but the president is right,” Friedrichs said to a reporter. “There are more people ill with the seasonal flu than there are ill with coronavirus worldwide and in the United States and in the military.”

He added:

The reasons that we are taking the precautions that you are seeing is that this is a new virus and we are continuing to learn about this virus, about how easy it is to spread the virus, and in particular and in an environment like this in close spaces, we’re trying to figure out the best way to mitigate the risk until we have solid data on that.

You know the military is good on planning, we’re also good on trying to decrease risk. So we’d rather mitigate that risk up front than wait and find out that we should have done it because multiple people got sick along the way.

Coronavirus Updates: 31 Dead in the U.S. as States Scramble to Contain the Virus

By CBS News. U.S. officials are racing to implement new measures to stop the spread of coronavirus, which has killed at least 31 people in the country and sickened nearly 1,000. Multiple states have declared a state of emergency to help free up resources to fight the virus.

In New York, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that officials are implementing a “containment area” centered in New Rochelle, a suburb of New York City. Within the containment area, a 1-mile radius, large gathering places will be closed for two weeks, officials said. That includes schools and places of worship.

“We are also going to use the National Guard in the containment area to deliver food to homes, to help with the cleaning of public spaces,” Cuomo said. He added that a temporary coronavirus testing facility will be set up within the zone. (Read more from “Coronavirus Updates: 31 Dead in the U.S. as States Scramble to Contain the Virus” HERE)

Trump Says He’s Open to Being Tested for Coronavirus

By Politico. President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he is willing to be tested for the novel coronavirus after interacting with congressional lawmakers who have since self-quarantined because of concerns over the outbreak. . .

“I don’t think it’s a big deal. I would do it,” Trump told reporters in the Capitol after meeting with Republican senators.

“I don’t feel that any reason — I feel extremely good. I feel very good, but I guess it’s not a big deal to get tested, and I — something I would do,” the president continued.

“But, again, I spoke to the White House doctor — terrific guy, talented guy. He said he sees no reason to do it,” Trump said. “There’s no symptoms, no anything. And you know what? If there were, you people would be the first to know it. You would maybe even tell me about it.” (Read more from “Trump Says He’s Open to Being Tested for Coronavirus” HERE)

Arizona Prison Whistleblower Gaby Contreras Dies at 31

An Arizona corrections department whistleblower, who leaked videos exposing broken cell locks inside a state prison, died on Sunday night.

Gabriela Contreras was 31 years old.

A Goodyear Police Department spokesperson confirmed Contreras’s death and said the case was being treated as a suicide.

“She was very courageous,” said Carlos Garcia, executive director of the Arizona Correctional Peace Officers Association. “It was her that put her neck and career on the line.”

Garcia worked closely with Contreras last year after she leaked multiple surveillance videos that showed how many cell doors inside Lewis prison didn’t properly lock. (Read more from “Arizona Prison Whistleblower Gaby Contreras Dies at 31” HERE)

‘Infowars’ Alex Jones Arrested on DWI Charge

Prominent right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was arrested early Tuesday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated, according to law enforcement.

Jones, who as host of the Austin-based InfoWars conspiracy theory outlet has become a prominent force on the fringe right, was arrested on a class-B misdemeanor DWI charge, according to a spokeswoman for the Travis County sheriff’s department. Jones was booked into the Travis County Jail in Austin at 12:37 AM, and released on bond at 4:11 AM. . .

But an arrest affidavit filed in court paints a different picture. According to the report, Jones’ wife called the sheriff’s department on Monday night to report a “family disturbance” between her and Jones. Jones’ wife added that he had possibly been drinking, according to the report. . .

On the way to Jones’ home, a sheriff’s deputy saw a car matching the description of Jones’ car and pulled him over. Jones had a “strong odor of alcohol coming from his person,” according to the affidavit, and said he had drank a bottle of Sake earlier that night at dinner. The report describes Jones’ eyes as “water and glassy,” with “constricted pupils,” and adds that the host was “excited, talkative, and carefree.” (Read more from “‘Infowars’ Alex Jones Arrested on DWI Charge” HERE)

New York Times Turns Story About Project Veritas Into Another Hoax About Trump

If there were Pulitzers for innuendo and chutzpah, Mark Mazzetti and Adam Goldman scribed the winning entry for both categories in Saturday’s New York Times.

“Erik Prince, the security contractor with close ties to the Trump administration, has in recent years helped recruit former American and British spies for secretive intelligence-gathering operations that included infiltrating Democratic congressional campaigns, labor organizations and other groups considered hostile to the Trump agenda, according to interviews and documents,” the duo opened.

This opening was quite the oversell, though, as the authors shortly revealed that the “secretive intelligence-gathering operations” were stings run by Project Veritas, and the “other groups considered hostile to the Trump agenda,” consisted of organizations such as Planned Parenthood. (In an amusing self-own, Mazzetti and Goldman identified the New York Times and Washington Post as other anti-Trump targets.) Notwithstanding the many insinuations, the article established no nexus between Donald Trump or his administration and Project Veritas’ activities.

But that didn’t stop the Times from turning a story about Project Veritas into yet another hoax about Trump. Yet the details sprinkled throughout the 2,000-word article revealed that the real story was about James O’Keefe’s organization, which in 2017 targeted the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) with a fake intern, and in 2018 used the same woman to pose as a volunteer for the then-congressional campaign of Democrat Abigail Spanberger. Four From One Massachusetts Family Killed by ‘Careless’ Illegal Alien Driver

Julie Smith, 41, her 5-year-old daughter Scarlett, 12-year-old son Jaxon, and their grandmother, Josephine Fay, are the latest victims of someone who should never have been allowed to remain in the country. But the destruction of this American family in Florida will not serve as an impetus for action on immigration enforcement and illegal alien reckless drivers the same way the impending Supreme Court decision on DACA will spawn a clamor for amnesty.

Lucas Dos Reis Laurindo, 26, is now charged with careless driving for a crash just south of Orlando that killed four members of the Smith family three weeks ago while they were vacationing in Disney World. According to Florida Highway Patrol, Laurindo rear-ended the Smiths’ minivan at a high speed on the evening of February 18, causing the van to turn over. Three members of the Massachusetts family were killed instantly, and 12-year-old Jaxon died the next day in the hospital.

The charge has not yet resulted in a criminal arrest, just a ticket. However, according to local media in Massachusetts, Laurindo was arrested by federal authorities on a “visa violation.”

When I inquired with ICE about his status, I was referred to Customs and Border Protection because he was apprehended by border agents in Florida. He is being held under federal custody at Glades County ICE facility. According to WFTV, Laurindo is a Brazilian national who was apprehended on February 21 when he attempted to board a flight to Brazil.

Josephine’s husband Bill, Julie’s husband Shane, and their daughters Shalie and Skylar, all survived the crash. Now they are left without their spouses and siblings. A GoFundMe page has been set up by family members for the survivors.

While the fact that this man was here illegally doesn’t make the actual deaths more or less painful or grievous, it does make them more avoidable. Because of a lack of enforcement of all the laws passed by Congress in recent decades, illegal aliens have little to worry about if they overstay their visas and remain here illegally.

The single biggest magnet in this country is the ability of illegal aliens to work, over 30 years after Congress made it illegal for them to work in exchange for amnesty. How many people have to die before Congress finally fulfills its promise? Meanwhile, the Trump administration has backed away from E-Verify, and Republicans in the Florida legislature are watering down Governor Ron DeSantis’ plan to mandate E-Verify.

Last November, I reported on another Floridian, James Zakos, killed by an illegal alien who should never have been working in the state. Ulises Mondragon Umanzor was charged with killing an American motorist while driving a forklift and running a stop sign. Had E-Verify been in place, Zakos would still be alive, because this repeat offender would never have been able to get a construction job.

It’s truly hard to overstate the scope of the public safety threat posed by illegal alien reckless or drunk drivers. When ICE tells us that in fiscal year 2019 alone, there were 2,500 homicide charges or convictions among those subject to detainers, it doesn’t even include many of these vehicular manslaughters. As is the case with Laurindo, they are often not charged with manslaughter, just some form of reckless driving. There were 74,523 DUI charges and convictions, as well as 68,236 other “driving offenses” among those arrested by ICE last year.

I’ve been told by ICE officials that these driving offenses are usually serious, not just run-of-the-mill speeding tickets. It’s hard to imagine how many people are needlessly killed by illegal alien drivers who aren’t even included in the homicide tally by ICE. This is especially true because ICE doesn’t have access to the vast majority of those committing these offenses, given that most illegal aliens live in sanctuary jurisdictions.

But 5-year-old Scarlett and her American family are not the focus of Congress. There is no effort to ensure that visa overstays are deterred and removed. There is no effort to deal with criminal aliens or the cartels at the border. There is no desire to clamp down on sanctuary cities beyond what Trump is doing administratively. Isn’t it time for an American DACA? (For more from the author of “Four From One Massachusetts Family Killed by ‘Careless’ Illegal Alien Driver” please click HERE)

Democrats Considering Legislative Response to Coronavirus – Expanded “Assistance” Spending…

Never let a crisis go to waste… And right on cue the Democrats in Washington DC see an opportunity to use the Coronavirus as a tool to spend and expand dependency initiatives.

One of President Trump’s biggest and non-discussed success stories has been his economic policy initiatives allowing people to be financially secure, independent and non-reliant on government hand-outs. However, the financial health and success of Americans is adverse to the political interests of Democrats who structure all of their policy objectives upon creating a dependent citizenry. . .

It is not a question of “if legislation will happen”, it is simply a matter of “what” legislation will look like. What elements will the Democrats attempt to exploit most? The answer is very predictable when looking at their preferred approach. . .

It would appear Democrats plan to create a bailout where people are paid not to work. “Paid sick leave” where the federal government takes over the ‘paying’. This will work well for those who consistently manipulate employment systems to avoid work and take advantage of federal payments to continue their avoidance. . .

“Enhanced unemployment insurance” is another way to pay people not to work. Extending unemployment benefits into infinity was a key part of Obama’s failed trillion dollar stimulus bill. It also allows Democrats to pay their activists to engage in GOTV efforts, instead of employment, while being paid.
