Nancy Pelosi Is Playing Political Games With the U.S. Constitution Over Donald Trump’s Impeachment; Trump Lashes out at Pelosi on Christmas

By Newsweek. No one can be sure what her intent is. I’m not sure she even knows but her decision to wait before transmitting the articles of impeachment to the Senate is setting a bad precedent that puts politics ahead of the U.S. Constitution.

For all the work that’s gone into addressing the charges against President Donald Trump, it’s hard to argue they rise to the level of impeachable offenses. The charge of obstruction of Congress could just as easily be presented as a justifiable defense of executive power for which ample precedent exists. The allegation he abused the power of his office is likewise flawed. While U.S. policy toward Ukraine is legitimately a subject for congressional oversight it is hardly the stuff of which previous presidents were threatened with removal from office. . .

What Pelosi wants is at least one more bite at the apple, maybe more. Her minions have been trying to impeach the president for most of his administration. The votes taken just prior to Christmas on articles of impeachment were not the first and, if you can believe what’s being said over the holiday recess, may not be the last. As Politico is reporting, “The House is open to the prospect of impeaching President Donald Trump a second time, lawyers for the Judiciary Committee said Monday.”

Will it ever end? Probably not. Just as Bill Clinton gave us what came to be called “the permanent campaign,” Nancy Pelosi and her allies are giving America “the permanent impeachment.” For all her high-minded talk about the gravity of the situation and the steps being taken by the House, she’s messing around with the Constitution while trying to overturn the results of the last election and influence the outcome of the next. She might succeed, at least as far as the latter effort is concerned, but not in the way she intends. Trump Lashes out at Pelosi on Christmas, Decries ‘Scam Impeachment’

By The Hill. President Trump on Wednesday lashed out at Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in a pair of tweets Christmas night, decrying what he called a “Scam Impeachment.”

“Why should Crazy Nancy Pelosi, just because she has a slight majority in the House, be allowed to Impeach the President of the United States?” wrote Trump, who is staying at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., for the holidays.

He also called the impeachment process “very unfair.”

Rebuked for ‘Offensive’ Remarks on Soros’s Jewishness, Giuliani Doubles Down; Rudy Giuliani Raises Eyebrows After Calling Himself ‘Former Attorney General of the United States’ on Facebook Page

By The Times of Israel. US President Donald Trump’s attorney Rudi Giuliani continued to attack the Jewishness of George Soros Tuesday, despite being rebuked by a prominent anti-Semitism watchdog for an earlier statement questioning the Jewishness of the liberal philanthropist. . .

In an interview with New York Magazine, conducted on December 8 and published Monday, Giuliani, who is Christian, claimed that he was “more of a Jew than Soros is,” accusing the businessman of being an “enemy of Israel.”

“He doesn’t go to church, he doesn’t go to religion — synagogue. He doesn’t belong to a synagogue, he doesn’t support Israel, he’s an enemy of Israel. He’s elected eight anarchist DA’s in the United States. He’s a horrible human being.”

He also claimed Marie Yovanovitch, the former US ambassador to Ukraine, was “controlled” by Soros, as were other ambassadors, repeating a common conspiracy theory regarded as anti-Semitic by some. . .

His comments drew a strong backlash from Anti-Defamation League chief Jonathan Greenblatt, who told The Daily Beast that “Mr. Giuliani is not the arbiter of who is Jewish and who is not, or what is anti-Semitic and what is not.”

Rudy Giuliani Raises Eyebrows After Calling Himself ‘Former Attorney General of the United States’ on Facebook Page

By Fox News. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani had critics scratching their heads on Tuesday after publicizing his Facebook page, where he referred to himself as a “Former Attorney General of the United States.”

Giuliani, who has made headlines in recent months over his involvement with the Ukraine scandal as President Trump’s personal attorney, plugged his Facebook page on Tuesday and teased users about findings from his “investigation.” . . .

In addition to the erroneous listing, Giuliani is also described as a “government official” despite his current role as the president’s personal lawyer.

Giuliani’s LinkedIn page correctly states that he was a U.S. Associate Attorney General between February 1981 and June 1983 under former President Ronald Reagan. He then spent five-and-a-half years as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, leaving that position on New Year’s Day, 1989. Hunter and His New Wife Omitted From Biden Family Christmas Greeting

Christmas greetings from the Biden family were conspicuously missing two members who are the subject of considerable scandal and chatter: Hunter Biden and his wife, Melissa.

Joe Biden posted a photo on Twitter late Christmas morning that included most members of the Biden clan along with a video featuring two of the family dogs. The Bidens added the message: “Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. With love, from my family to yours.”

Hours later, the former vice president’s Twitter account posted a video featuring Champ and Major Biden, two German shepherds. “When we say Merry Christmas from the entire Biden family, that means even the dogs.” Neither his son nor his new daughter-in-law appear in either of the tweets.

The scandals surrounding Hunter Biden, 49, are fraught politically for his father, currently mounting a third White House run. On Christmas Eve, news broke that private investigators hired by Lunden Roberts, the mother of Hunter Biden’s 16-month-old child, alleged in a court filing that Hunter Biden is the subject of multiple criminal investigations. His lawyers called the accusation “a scheme by a non-party simply to make scandalous allegations in the pending suit to gain some quick media attention.”

Hunter Biden previously denied having had relations with Roberts, although the results of a court-ordered paternity test released in November confirmed he is the father. Joe Biden, 77, has so far refused to comment on the matter. Roberts, 28, previously worked as a stripper in Washington. Trump’s Economy: Super Saturday Recorded Highest Sales of Any Day in U.S. History; Democrats Claim Most Americans Don’t Benefit From Booming Trump Economy – but Voters Know They Do

By Daily Wire. More evidence of the strong U.S. economy during the Trump administration came over last weekend, as sales across the country on Saturday reached the highest level ever recorded.

Bloomberg reported, “Holiday shopping set records over the weekend, with Super Saturday sales reaching $34.4 billion, the biggest single day in U.S. retail history, according to Customer Growth Partners.” Craig Johnson, president of Customer Growth Partners, credited job growth and the abundance of disposable income for the record-setting day, adding, “Paced by the ‘Big Four’ mega-retailers — Walmart, Amazon, Costco and Target — Super Saturday was boosted by the best traffic our team has seen in years.”

Johnson noted that 58% of the increase in sales could be attributed to sales online. On Black Friday 2019, the day after Thanksgiving, the nation recorded $31.2 billion; on Saturday, December 14, the level reached $28.1 billion, and Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, the level of sales reached $19.1 billion. Andy Puzder: Democrats Claim Most Americans Don’t Benefit From Booming Trump Economy – but Voters Know They Do

By Fox News. The American people have a lot to celebrate this holiday season, thanks to the booming Trump economy – and polls prove they know it, despite the false claims of Democratic presidential candidates that only the rich are benefitting from President Trump’s policies.

According to Fidelity Investments’ 2020 New Year Financial Resolutions Study released earlier this month, 82 percent of Americans say they’re in a similar or better financial position this year than last. And 78 percent believe they will be even better off next year.

A new CNN poll conducted by SSRS found that 76 percent of Americans rate current economic conditions as positive – the highest percentage since February 2001.

Since August, the percentages of Americans with this positive view have increased significantly. Some 97 percent of Republicans, 75 percent of independents and even 62 percent of Democrats now view our economic conditions positively. Those are incredibly high numbers.

As for the next year, 68 percent of Americans expect our economy to be in good shape a year from now – the best showing in CNN’s polling since December 2003. (Read more from “Andy Puzder: Democrats Claim Most Americans Don’t Benefit From Booming Trump Economy – but Voters Know They Do” HERE)

Virginia Governor Increases Corrections Budget in Anticipation of Jailing Gun Owners

As if Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s wholesale attack on law-abiding gun owners wasn’t enough, the disgraced public official and his Michael Bloomberg-bought allies in the General Assembly now want the state’s hard-working taxpayers to foot the bill for their unconstitutional schemes. The budget bill (HB30) includes an appropriation of a quarter million dollars to carry out a host of gun control measures that Northam and his anti-gun allies hope to enact.

The $250,000 is appropriated to the Corrections Special Reserve Fund in order to provide for the “increase in the operating cost of adult correctional facilities resulting from the enactment” of Northam’s gun control measures. Among the enumerated laws that this allocation is meant to fund is a ban on commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms, the criminalization of private firearms transfers, and gun confiscation orders issued without due process. . .

Long guns of any description are rarely used in violent crime. FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data breaks down homicides by weapon type. In 2018, the FBI reported that there were five times as many individuals listed as killed with “knives or cutting instruments,” than with rifles of any kind. The data also showed that rifles were listed as being used in less homicides than “blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc.)” or “personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.).”

A 1997 Department of Justice-funded study of the 1994 federal “assault weapons” ban determined that “At best, the assault weapons ban can have only a limited effect on total gun murders, because the banned weapons and magazines were never involved in more than a modest fraction of all gun murders.” A 2004 follow-up Department of Justice-funded study came to a similar conclusion. The study determined that “AWs [assault weapons] and LCMs [large capacity magazines] were used in only a minority of gun crimes prior to the 1994 federal ban,” “relatively few attacks involve more than 10 shots fired,” and “the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.” (Read more from “Virginia Governor Increases Corrections Budget in Anticipation of Jailing Gun Owners” HERE)

‘We’re Blessed to Have Them’: More Than 200,000 Troops Will Spend Christmas Away From Home This Year

By Washington Examiner. Each year at Christmas, a soldier’s version of a beloved children’s poem circulates on military social media groups. In The Soldier’s Night Before Christmas, Santa drops in on an American soldier curled up alone on a poncho in some far flung locale. The soldier is spending Christmas deployed without his family.

This year, Santa might have similar encounters with other American forces – not all on ponchos, but definitely far from home. Some 214,277 service members are serving around the world this year, including as many as 18,700 in combat zones in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

American troops also are in Africa, South Korea, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom and other land bases, and aboard ships in oceans around the globe. . .

While Iraq and Afghanistan deployments are not as common as they were in years past, troops are still putting their lives on the line. The death of Sgt. 1st Class Michael James Goble in Afghanistan on Monday is a stark reminder of that, Heritage Foundation foreign policy analyst James Carafano told the Washington Examiner.

“The loss of every American life is tragic, particularly this time of year. It just reminds us that, not just in Afghanistan, we have men and women around the world every day, not just on Christmas, that put their life in harm’s way for our interests, and we’re really blessed to have them,” said Carafano, an Army veteran. Operation Holiday Express Brings Gifts to U.S. Troops in Syria

By The Associated Press. Hundreds of American troops based in Syria have received Christmas gifts thanks to Operation Holiday Express, launched by U.S.-led coalition forces from across the border in neighboring Iraq.

This year, Santa’s sleigh and reindeer were apparently swapped for a workhorse CH-47 Chinook helicopter. But coalition forces still donned jolly red caps as they unloaded boxes of gifts at five locations in eastern Syria, as seen by The Associated Press on Monday.

In addition to the presents, Christmas tunes were provided by a military band from the 1st Infantry Division, flown in from Fort Riley, Kansas. The soldiers received stockings stuffed with candies, toiletries and other gifts. Most were donated by military support organizations in the U.S., as well as churches and charity organizations, coalition spokesman Col. Myles Caggins said. Author Explains How God Used Ordinary People to Bring Jesus to the World

. . .Daniel Darling, author of “The Characters of Christmas: The Unlikely People Caught Up in the Story of Jesus” recently told “The Pure Flix Podcast” why he finds the story of Jesus’ birth so incredible.

“When we think about the Christmas story you think about all those people around the Nativities that are in our homes [and Christmas plays],” he said. “These were ordinary people in the first century who were swept up in the story of God sending his son to Earth.”

So, Darling set out on a mission to tell these peoples’ stories, noting that each of the biblical figures involved in Christ’s birth helps show the “kind of people” who make up God’s kingdom.

“The Characters of Christmas” is filled with ordinary stories of people who were enveloped into the greatest story ever told.

“Outsiders like the Magi who follow the star, follow the spirit … [are] the kind of people who make up this story,” Darling said. (Read more from “Author Explains How God Used Ordinary People to Bring Jesus to the World” HERE)

Hunter Biden Is Linked to Multiple Criminal Probes Involving Fraud, Money Laundering

By Daily Mail. Hunter Biden is reportedly linked to multiple criminal probes and has been quietly keeping a sprawling home in the Hollywood Hills, according to new court documents which he wanted to keep private.

The papers alleged that the 49-year-old ‘is the subject of more than one criminal investigation involving fraud, money laundering and a counterfeiting scheme’.

The allegations were filed by private-eye firm, D&A Investigations on Monday in relation to Hunter’s paternity case involving his baby mama Lunden Roberts. . .

One of the claims involves Burisma, the Ukrainian oil company that’s at the center of President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial. Trump came under fire for a phone call with Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, urging him to investigate Hunter’s work with Burisma, while withholding some $400million in military aid.

The new allegations accuse Hunter and business associates of establishing ‘bank and financial accounts with Morgan Stanley … for Burisma Holdings Limited … for the money laundering scheme’. (Read more from “Hunter Biden Is Linked to Multiple Criminal Probes Involving Fraud, Money Laundering” HERE)

By International Business Times. Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President and Democratic presidential contender Joe Biden, is facing multiple criminal investigations relating to “fraud, money laundering and a counterfeiting scheme,” according to court documents. . .

Hunter, 49, “is the subject of more than one criminal investigation involving fraud, money laundering and a counterfeiting scheme,” the filing at the Circuit Court of Independence County, Arkansas claimed.

Two More Women Accuse Jeffrey Epstein of Sexually Abusing Them as Teens: Suit

By New York Post. Two more woman have accused Jeffrey Epstein of raping them as teens — with one saying she was lured to his house with the promise of a baby-sitting gig, court papers show.

Accuser Jane Doe 4 said she was 13 years old in 1984 when Epstein contacted her to baby-sit at his Hilton Head, South Carolina, vacation home only to find she was the youngest person there, according to papers filed Monday in Manhattan federal court.

Instead, Epstein plied her with alcohol and drugs and violently raped her, the papers charge.

Over the next several years, Epstein made more trips to Hilton Head and allegedly repeated the pattern.

“Epstein was supplying a teenage girl alcohol and illicit drugs and subsequently assaulting and violent raping her,” the new filing states. (Read more from “Two More Women Accuse Jeffrey Epstein of Sexually Abusing Them as Teens: Suit” HERE)

Homeowner Shoots and Kills 3 With Shotgun During Break-In

A Texas homeowner shot and killed three people who he said were trying to break into his trailer home, authorities said.

The homeowner was injured in the exchange of gunfire Monday and remained hospitalized, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez told reporters.

Gonzalez said the homeowner, who he did not identify, opened fire on the men with a shotgun after they entered the trailer in the Houston suburb of Channelview on Monday morning.

A witness told authorities that there may have been a fourth person who fled before the group entered the home, Gonzalez said. Investigators have not yet spoken to the person. (Read more from “Homeowner Shoots and Kills 3 With Shotgun During Break-In” HERE)
