FISA Report Was so Bad That FBI’s Top Lawyer During Russia Probe Felt ‘Distressed’ After Reading It

Former FBI general counsel James Baker said Monday that he felt “distressed” after reading the Justice Department inspector general’s report laying out “significant” errors and omissions in the bureau’s applications to surveil former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

In an interview on CNN, Baker went further in his critique of the bureau than did FBI Director James Comey, who said Sunday that he believed the FBI was “sloppy” in its efforts to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against Page.

“Sloppiness is completely unacceptable. That is not the way you operate in front of a federal court. I don’t know what word you want to use, it’s terrible, it’s unacceptable, it shouldn’t happen. That is not the way we should be filing matters in front of a federal court,” Baker told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

“I was distressed about it. I was completely distressed about it,” Baker said of his response to the inspector general’s (IG) findings.

Baker has testified that he personally reviewed the FISA applications against Page, given their political sensitivity. (Read more from “FISA Report Was so Bad That FBI’s Top Lawyer During Russia Probe Felt ‘Distressed’ After Reading It” HERE)

Is He Talking About Biden? Obama Says World Problems Are Due to ‘Old Men Not Getting out of the Way’

Former President Barack Obama said Monday that most of the world’s problems are due to “old men not getting out of the way.”

Obama spoke at a private event on leadership in Singapore where he said that many issues the world faces stem from older men not knowing when to step down.

“If you look at the world and look at the problems, it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way,” he said, the BBC reported.

“It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life, you are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self importance or your own power,” the former president said.

Obama’s critique of elderly men in politics comes as the former president continues to refrain from endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden for president of the U.S. Biden has attempted to explain Obama’s silence by telling reporters in April that he asked Obama not to endorse him. Civilian Saudi Student Arrested – as SecDef Esper Promises More Foreign Trainees (VIDEO)

Amid the impeachment soap opera revolving around allegations of foreign interference in our politics, everyone is ignoring the ultimate foreign influence in our nation through unvetted visas.

Immediately following the terrorist attack on the Pensacola naval base by a Saudi foreign student, I asked the following question: If we can’t even vet the most closely scrutinized military trainees coming onto our secured naval bases, do you really have confidence that there aren’t thousands of other green card recipients and general foreign students from these countries who harbor the same views Mohammed Alshamrani allegedly expressed on social media? Let me introduce you to Hassan Alqahtani.

Alqahtani is one of the 40,000 or so Saudi students who are brought in every year to study in American universities. He was studying engineering at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and was slated to graduate over the weekend, but instead he was arrested by the FBI for weapons charges. The FBI is also investigating a tip from someone who knows Alqahtani that he was putting together “a list of people who he wants to kill before he leaves the US.”

The FBI searched Alqahtani’s home on Thursday and discovered a Cobra handgun and ammunition, according to the criminal complaint filed in federal court in New Mexico. As a visitor on a non-immigrant visa. Alqahtani is prohibited by federal law from possessing a firearm. At present, he is only being charged on a weapons violation as the investigation into any potential plot continues.

We are bringing in hundreds of thousands of people from volatile countries every year on long-term visas without a clue to who they are. Trump’s entire campaign on immigration was built on the premise that there should be a moratorium of visas from these countries until we have better vetting. Yet we have not found a better way of vetting them since Trump made that promise. And despite the Pensacola shooting, there is no evidence that the administration is going to take a more aggressive posture on visas.

Quite the contrary. When Congressman Matt Gaetz, the representative from Pensacola, questioned Secretary of Defense Mark Esper about the program at a hearing last Tuesday, he declined even to say that the military training program for Saudis would he shut off, much less civilian visas. “I would hope that very soon, perhaps within the day, you would be able to make a public statement as to whether or not we are taking in new students while you are undergoing that vetting process,” said the Florida congressman at the House Armed Services Committee hearing. Esper responded that there is a “stand-down” on Saudi training, limiting Saudi students just to classroom activities, “until we can do expedited vetting of all Saudi students in the United States.” However, when Gaetz pressed him on whether we are still accepting “new students,” Esper retorted, “I can’t answer that affirmatively, I’d have to get back to you on that.”

If Esper sounded diffident and ambiguous at the hearing, though, he was crystal clear in a statement on Friday, and not in a good way. Esper announced his desire to expand the program by 50 percent over five years, according to the Military Times!

“Programs like these help us develop closer relationships with valued partners around the world while also introducing them to America,” said Esper during a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations. “I have asked the department to find ways to increase PME [professional military education] participation.”

Folks, this is Trump’s secretary of defense making the case not only to continue programs like this even after the Pensacola shooting. This is what happens when impeachment is allowed to overshadow other news. These statements from Esper could easily be made in a Biden administration. Just who is the commander in chief?

Since the Pensacola shooting, it came to light that Mohammed Alshamrani had a paper trail of pro-jihadist social media activity that was never vetted by the Pentagon, State Department, or Department of Homeland Security. A Twitter account believed to be that of Alshamrani retweeted calls for jihad against America within a few years of his admittance to the country.

How many of the roughly 150,000 Islamic immigrants and 150,000 other foreign students we bring in from those same countries every single year share those views? We don’t have anywhere near enough case workers at DHS and State to vet those people, even if there was some way to vet jihadist proclivities.

In addition to the threats from millions of criminal aliens and millions of unvetted Middle Easterners, there is the espionage threat from hundreds of thousands of Chinese brought here every year. Just this Sunday, the New York Times revealed that two Chinese diplomats were expelled after they managed to breach a special operations military base in Norfolk, Virginia, three months ago. One is suspected of being an intelligence officer. These are diplomats who turned out to be spies.

Can you imagine how many of the 340,000 foreign students admitted every year poses a security risk, after we’ve already caught several spies among them? The director of national intelligence warned in the latest Worldwide Threat Assessment, “China’s intelligence services will exploit the openness of American society, especially academia and the scientific community, using a variety of means.” The same applies to the endless student visas we grant to Iranian nationals. We’ve learned absolutely nothing from 9/11, and evidently, Pensacola will not serve as a wake-up call 18 years later.

At the same time we bring in millions of unvetted immigrants and visitors from hostile or volatile countries, we must ask what happened to the president’s promise to arm our own soldiers on military bases. The president has been silent on this issue in the aftermath of Pensacola, even though he promised to end the gun-free zone on bases on “day one” of his presidency.

Although the Pensacola shooter got his gun legally, this new Saudi suspect in New Mexico possessed a gun illegally. Most immigrants cannot purchase a firearm. But the same enduring lesson about gun control for domestic criminals applies to foreign criminals and terrorists. Bad guys will always get hold of guns. The job of our government is to keep domestic bad guys locked up, foreign bad guys out of the country, and guns in the hands of good guys. Sadly, thus far, under this president, we’ve had a jailbreak bill to release criminals and the continuation of importing endless Middle Easterners and illegal immigrants, and our soldiers still can’t carry weapons on bases.

Once again, amid the endless soap opera of politics, conservatives must ask, do issues and actual policy results still matter? (For more from the author of “Civilian Saudi Student Arrested – as SecDef Esper Promises More Foreign Trainees” please click HERE)

Trump Must Go After New York’s Violation of Federal Immigration Law

At the end of the month, almost all criminals arrested for state crimes in New York, including sex crimes, will be released without posting bail. It is a suicidal policy, but it is nonetheless the state’s prerogative to engage in such suicide. What is not its prerogative is the New York law that took effect this week granting driver’s licenses to illegal aliens and blocking ICE access to criminal enforcement information. We have a national union with a federal government controlling immigration for a reason, and it’s time for the Trump administration to show state officials who has the final say over this issue.

Beginning this week, the NY state government is inviting any and all illegal aliens, with or without criminal records, to apply for driver’s licenses. As documentation, they can offer consular ID cards, which are fraught with fraud, expired work permits, or foreign birth certificates. They can even offer Border Crossing Cards, which are only valid for 72 hours and for a stay in the country near the border area! The state law further prohibits state and county officials from disclosing any information to ICE and bars ICE and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) from accessing N.Y. Department of Motor Vehicles (NYDMV) records and information.

It’s truly hard to overstate the enormity of the public safety crisis this law, dubbed “the green light law,” will spawn. There are currently 3.3 million aliens in the ICE non-detained docket who remain at large in this country. Just in one year, ICE put detainers on aliens criminally charged with 2,500 homicides. Given that New York has the fourth largest illegal alien population in the country, it is virtually certain that a large number of criminal aliens reside in the state and will now be offered legal resident documents to shield them from removal.

Some might suggest that this is the problem of New York’s residents and that it is their job and their responsibility alone to overturn these laws. But the difference between this law and their general pro-criminal laws is that when it comes to immigration, they simply lack the power to enact such a policy. Rather than the DHS and DOJ bemoaning these laws, it’s time for the Trump administration to actually stop them in their tracks. Otherwise the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution is nothing but ink on parchment.

A violation of federal law and the Constitution

8 U.S.C. § 1324 makes a felon of anyone who “knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place.” That statute also makes a criminal of anyone who “encourages or induces an alien to come to, enter, or reside in the United States, knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such coming to, entry, or residence is or will be in violation of law” or anyone who “engages in any conspiracy to commit any of the preceding acts, or aids or abets the commission of any of the preceding acts.” Some form of this law has been on the books since 1891.

NY’s new law not only harbors illegal aliens but actually calls on the DMV to notify illegal aliens of any ICE interest in their files. There is only one purpose of this law: to tip off criminal alien fugitives that ICE is looking for them, the most literal violation of the law against shielding them from detection. Would we allow state officials to block information to the FBI, ATF, or DEA?

Moreover, New York’s Green Light law violates the entire purpose of the infamous 1986 amnesty bill, the Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA), which was “to combat the employment of illegal aliens.” The law specifically makes it “illegal for employers to knowingly hire, recruit, refer, or continue to employ unauthorized workers.” Yet the rationale for the Green Light Law, according to supporters, was “getting to work” and “ensure that our industries have the labor they need to keep our economy moving.” That directly conflicts with federal law.

Finally, 8 U.S.C. 1373 prohibits state and local government from “in any way restrict[ing], any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.” The entire purpose of this bill is to restrict all New York government entities from sending information on citizenship status to ICE.

Whether one disagrees with immigration laws or not, nobody can argue that the federal government lacks the power to enforce them. Immigration law is one of the core jobs of the federal government. People are free to go to any state once they are in the country, which is why the Founders transferred immigration policy from the states under the Articles of Confederation to the federal government under the Constitution.

This is why James Madison in Federalist #42 bemoaned that, under the Articles of Confederation, there was a “very serious embarrassment” whereby “an alien therefore legally incapacitated for certain rights in the [one state], may by previous residence only in [another state], elude his incapacity; and thus the law of one State, be preposterously rendered paramount to the law of another, within the jurisdiction of the other.” He feared that without the Constitution’s new idea of giving the federal Congress power “to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization,” “certain descriptions of aliens, who had rendered themselves obnoxious” would choose states with weak immigration laws as entry points into the union and then move to any other state as legal residents or citizens.

As for immigration without naturalization, because of the issue of the slave trade, the first clause of Article I, Section 9 bars Congress from prohibiting “the Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit” until the year 1808. Well, Congress has long exercised that power to exclude over the past 200 years. New York has lacked the ability to maintain its own separate immigration scheme for quite some time.

When did the federal government become weak in the face of state rebellion?

By DHS’ own admission last week during the announcement of ICE’s fiscal year 2019 enforcement results, enforcement is losing ground thanks to sanctuary states. But when did states suddenly become so powerful in an era where they seem to rely on the federal government for everything? Yes, we believe strongly, as conservatives, in state powers over internal affairs related to health care, agriculture, education, housing, marriage, abortion, and election law – all issues the federal government and courts have stolen from states. But immigration and border affairs are 100 percent within the province of the federal government, as the Supreme Court reiterated in Arizona v. U.S.

Accordingly, it’s time for the Trump administration to treat New York as a law-breaking jurisdiction that is in a state of rebellion against the most ironclad national security powers of the federal government. Trump should refuse to sign a budget bill unless it contains a provision cutting off highway funding to New York. Illegal aliens, even those with records of drunk and reckless driving, will now have valid means of driving not only on New York’s roads but those of every other state. New York should not get federal transportation funds until the law is rescinded.

Also, Trump’s Department of Justice should send a letter warning all state and local officials that if they cooperate with this rebel law, they are in direct violation of federal law. One prudent county clerk in Erie County has already filed a lawsuit against the state warning that the law puts him at risk for federal prosecution. If DOJ officially threatens broad prosecutions, it will force internal strife and a likely change in the law.

Finally, other states run by Republicans should refuse to recognize NY driver’s licenses until the policy is overturned. Part of why states agree to reciprocity is because we all are supposed to follow the same standards of identification integrity under federal law. If New York is now going to accept any foreign document as authentication of identity, it compromises the entire integrity of a New York driver’s licenses, even outside the concern of illegal immigration.

According to a Harvard-Harris poll, 72 percent of overall voters and 76 percent of suburban voters oppose issuing driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. There is no bigger issue over which to force a budget fight.

Remember, the Left feared that Trump would not only block amnesty but begin removing some of these illegal aliens. The Left has responded by disobeying immigration law. If the federal government allows this to stand, it will be tantamount to de facto amnesty under a Republican administration. National Guard Responds After Dem Threatens Use to Push Gun Control Agenda

The Virginia National Guard released a statement on Friday in response to questions about whether they could be deployed to enforce Democratic lawmakers’ gun control agenda.

“We have received multiple questions regarding proposed legislation for the 2020 General Assembly session and the authority of the Governor of Virginia to employ the Virginia National Guard in a law enforcement role,” Maj. Gen. Timothy Williams, the Adjutant General of the Virginia National Guard, said in a statement.

“We understand and respect the passion people feel for the U.S. Constitution and 2nd Amendment rights. We will not speculate about the possible use of the Virginia National Guard,” he added.

The Virginia National Guard was forced to respond after Rep. Donald McEachin (D-Va.) suggested Thursday that Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) could deploy the National Guard to enforce future gun control measures.

“Ultimately, I’m not the governor, but the governor may have to nationalize the National Guard to enforce the law. That’s his call, because I don’t know how serious these counties are and how severe the violations of law will be. But that’s obviously an option he has,” McEachin told the Washington Examiner. DMV Overwhelmed First Day Illegal Aliens Apply for Driver’s Licenses

Hundreds of [illegal aliens] from across the five boroughs braved wintry weather and stood in hours-long lines to take advantage of a new state law giving them the “green light” to obtain driver’s licenses.

Ivan Blanco arrived at the DMV office in Flushing, Queens, at 8 a.m. Seven hours later, he was on his way to being approved for a standard state driver’s license under the new Green Light Law, which allows all New Yorkers over the age of 16 to apply for a standard, non-federal license or learner’s permit regardless of their citizenship or legal status. . .

Applicants must still get a permit and pass a road test to qualify for a standard driver’s license.

The measure withstood several legal challenges from upstate Republicans and threats from defiant county clerks in charge of some DMV offices who claimed the law is dangerous and puts them in a precarious spot.

New York previously allowed licenses to be given to migrants in the country illegally before the practice was halted by then-Gov. George Pataki in 2001. (Read more from “DMV Overwhelmed First Day Illegal Aliens Apply for Driver’s Licenses” HERE)

Another House Democrat Reveals He’s Against Impeachment

Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) was one of just two House Democrats who voted against opening the impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump. Now, Peterson has confirmed that he will also vote against impeaching the president.

Speaking at an event over the weekend in Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District, which he represents, Peterson confirmed that he plans to vote against impeachment “unless they come up with something between now and Wednesday,” according to the Globe.

Peterson told the Globe that Trump “has not committed a crime” and said his “biggest problem” with the impeachment proceedings is that his caucus pre-determined that they were committed to impeaching Trump.

“And now they’ve spent a year trying to figure out how they can make a case for it. That’s backwards. I just don’t agree with this,” Peterson said. “This is dividing the country for no good reason because he’s not going to be thrown out of office. Why are we doing this?” . . .

The full House is expected to vote on impeachment this week after the House Judiciary Committee approved two articles of impeachment last week, one for abuse of power and another for obstruction of Congress. The House is expected to vote down party lines with few defectors, as Peterson predicted. (Read more from “Another House Democrat Reveals He’s Against Impeachment” HERE)

Greta Thunberg Tweets Pic of Herself on ‘Overcrowded’ Train. Train Company Reveals The REAL Story

Far-left climate extremist Greta Thunberg tweeted a photograph of herself riding on a train over the weekend that showed her sitting on the floor while complaining about the train supposedly being “overcrowded” which earned a sharp response from the train.

The Guardian reported that in a two-part tweet, Deutsche Bahn (DB) responded to Thunberg’s tweet, writing, “Dear Greta, thank you for supporting us railroaders in the fight against climate change! We were happy that you travelled with us on Saturday in the ICE 74 … but it would have been even nicer had you also reported how friendly and competently you were looked after by our team at your seat in the first class.”

After being repeatedly mocked online over the incident, Thunberg claimed, “Our train from Basel was taken out of traffic. So we sat on the floor on 2 different trains. After Göttingen I got a seat. This is no problem of course and I never said it was. Overcrowded trains is a great sign because it means the demand for train travel is high!”

Thunberg has been at the center of controversy over her push for extreme climate proposals and has been mocked by leaders around the world, and was even mocked in the most recent episode of South Park. Kellyanne Conway Says Trump Is Fond of Former Epstein Lawyer Alan Derschowitz Amid Rumors He May Join Impeachment Team

By The Independent. Donald Trump’s adviser Kellyanne Conway says the president is “very fond” of Alan Dershowitz amid rumours that the former lawyer for sex offender Jeffery Epstein may join the president’s legal team as his impeachment heads to Congress and a trial in the Senate.

Ms Conway told reporters at the White House that the president has spoken with Mr Dershowitz “on any number of occasions over time.” She said the president will announce his legal time at another time.

Mr Dershowitz was part of a 2006 legal team that represented Mr Epstein – the financier who was later charged with sex trafficking and died in prison in August, as well as OJ Simpson – among other high-profile criminal defendants.

She said the White House expects Mr Trump to be “fully exonerated” from charges approved by the House Judiciary Committee, which filed its articles of impeachment against the president for obstruction and abuses of power in his dealings with Ukraine.

The president’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani also was spotted at the White House today following his return from Ukraine, where he reportedly continued to press for investigations into Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden as Mr Giuliani remains under federal investigation for campaign finance violations. Nancy Grace: ‘I Find It Very, Very Hard to Believe’ Jeffrey Epstein Killed Himself

By Fox News. Former longtime cable news host Nancy Grace said she finds it “hard to believe,” but not “impossible,” that disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein killed himself while in prison.

Grace, a former prosecutor in Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney’s office, told “Watters’ World” in an interview that aired Saturday at 8 p.m. ET that the autopsy results cast doubt over whether the convicted sex offender committed suicide.

“After prosecuting many, many strangulation homicides — be it through ligature or manual strangulation — I find it very, very hard to believe — not impossible — that multiple bones were snapped in Epstein’s neck through suicide,” she said.

“Those injuries are much more commonly found in strangulation-by-homicide,” she added.

Grace, who now hosts “Crime Stories with Nancy Grace,” said it was also entirely possible that, with Epstein’s alleged transgressions for which he was imprisoned in New York City, there could have been blackmail involved. Fox Host: ‘We Now Have Confirmation, Corroboration That the Deep State Exists’

Reacting to the release of Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz’s report concerning the origins of the Russia investigation and the issuance of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants for former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, Judge Jeanine Pirro said Saturday, “We now have confirmation, corroboration that the deep state exists.”

In her opening statement on “Justice with Judge Jeanine” on Saturday night, Pirro said the deep state “worked to spy on and frame a presidential candidate and plant the seed for his overthrow in the ugliest, most corrupt attempted political coup in U.S. History.”

She went on to say, “That it occurred at all, is stunning. But that it was manipulated to take down a president and remove him from office almost as soon as we put him there, essentially overthrowing a government, is an outrage that demands the most severe consequence our criminal justice system has to offer.” . . .

However, Horowitz’s report revealed there were at least 17 “significant inaccuracies and omissions” in the Page FISA applications.

It also revealed that, at times, the Crossfire Hurricane investigation was not properly sharing information with the Justice Department or key figures who should have been privy to updated information.
