McConnell Has a Stark Warning for Trump Over a National Emergency

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) last week warned President Donald Trump about the dangers of declaring a national emergency for the proposed border wall, The Washington Post reported. According to those familiar with the private conversation, McConnell said the declaration could divide the Republican Party and Congress would, more than likely, pass a resolution disapproving the emergency declaration. Should that declaration happen, as McConnell suggested, Trump could be forced to veto the declaration, which would put him at odds with his own party. . .

From WaPo:

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Trump and McConnell’s meeting. A McConnell spokesman declined to discuss the senator’s private conversations.

On the same day he met with the president, McConnell publicly voiced his opposition to a national emergency declaration as he encouraged the 17-member congressional committee to find another way out of the impasse. “I’m for whatever works, which means avoiding a shutdown and avoiding the president feeling he should declare a national emergency,” McConnell said during his weekly news conference in the Capitol.

McConnell’s top deputy, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), told GOP senators at a private lunch that same day that if they had issues with the president’s declaring a national emergency, they should raise them with the White House, according to one of the Republicans and another person with knowledge of Thune’s comments, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe them.

KKK, Blackface Photo Emerges From Virginia Governor’s Yearbook – Dems Call For Resignation

By Daily Wire. A photo emerged on Friday that appears to show Virginia Democrat Governor Ralph Northam appearing in a photograph that shows someone dressed up in a KKK hood and in blackface.

“On Wednesday, in a shocking revelation about the nature of the pro-abortion Democratic Party, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, a supposed moderate, endorsed the notion that a woman should be able to let an infant, born alive, die on the table if she decided she did not want the child,” The Daily Wire reported.

Northam made the remarks during an interview with WTOP’s “Ask The Governor.” Northam stated:

This is why decisions such as this should be made by providers, physicians, and the mothers and fathers that are involved. When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of the mother, with the consent of physicians, more than one physician by the way, and it’s done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus which is non-viable. So in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother.

Leading Democrats call for Gov. Northam to resign over racist yearbook photo

By The Blaze. Top Democratic leaders are calling for the governor of Virginia to resign after a yearbook photo resurfaced showing him in a racist photo.

Among those calling for his resignation were presidential candidate Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), who tweeted, “Leaders are called to a higher standard, and the stain of racism should have no place in the halls of government.”

Northam released a statement on Friday admitting that the photo was authentic, but he did not disclose whether he was the man dressed as a KKK member or the man wearing blackface.

“Earlier today, a website published a photograph of me from my 1984 medical school yearbook in a costume that is clearly racist and offensive,” he said in the statement.

“I am deeply sorry for the decision I made to appear as I did in this photo and for the hurt that decision caused then and now,” he added. (Read more from “Leading Democrats call for Gov. Northam to resign over racist yearbook photo” HERE)

Ann Coulter Berates Trump, Calls Him Lazy and Incompetent

When Donald Trump declared his presidential candidacy in 2015, one of his earliest high-profile supporters was right-wing author and media pundit Ann Coulter — who was described by Vanity Fair as “The High Priestess of Trumpism.” In 2016, Coulter even published a book of praise for Trump, one titled In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!, in which she calls Trump “exactly what we needed.”

But in recent weeks, as Trump has failed to fulfill Coulter’s most cherished policy goal — and Trump’s own often-repeated 2016 campaign promise — a border wall between the United States and Mexico, Coulter has sharply turned on Trump. It started in December when Coulter slammed Trump on Twitter as “gutless,” and as the Inquisitr reported, Trump promptly unfollowed her on the social media platform.

But on Friday, Coulter, 57, raised the stakes in her personal war with Trump once again. She stated in a Yahoo! News interview that if he cannot succeed in building the border wall, Trump should face a Republican primary challenger in the 2020 presidential election. . .

Coulter lashed out at Trump in the Yahoo! News interview, hosted on the Yahoo! podcast Skullduggery, lambasting him as “lazy,” “incompetent,” and “a lunatic.” . . .

“We put this lunatic in the White House for one reason,” Coulter said in the interview, as quoted by Mediaite. “He doesn’t need to declare an emergency. I think Trump is gonna do that. I think he’s finally going to pull that pocket Constitution out of his lapel pocket and [say], ‘Oh my gosh, I’m the president. This is great.’” (Read more from “Ann Coulter Berates Trump, Calls Him Lazy and Incompetent” HERE)

Latest Ilhan Omar Interview Adds Weight to Charges She’s Anti-Jew

In a recent interview with Yahoo News, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) revealed both an astonishing ignorance about American foreign policy and renewed questions about her anti-Semitism, which at this point appears increasingly probable. Yahoo asked Omar, “How can America work productively towards a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians?”

Omar responded, “By having an equal approach to both. Most of the things that have always been aggravating to me is that we have had a policy that makes one superior to the other and we mask it with a conversation that’s about justice and a two-state solution when you have policies that clearly prioritize one over the other.”

When asked to provide examples of such policies, Omar responded, “Our relationship really, with the Israeli government and the Israeli state. And so when I see Israel institute, um, law that recognizes it as a Jewish state and does not recognize, um, the other religions that are living in it and we still uphold it as a democracy in the Middle East, I almost chuckle because I know that if, you know, we see that in any other society we would criticize it, or any other place that sort of upholds its religion. And I see that now happening with Saudi Arabia. And so I am aggravated truly in those contradictions.”

Omar’s answer was predictably starved of reason and facts. Shrouded as a mere critique of Israel, the primary thrust of Omar’s response was that the country’s existence as both a Jewish state and a democracy is problematic, if not impossible; that the U.S.-Israeli alliance harms relations between Muslims and the United States; and that the state of Israel is comparable to Iran, the world’s largest state-sponsor of terror.

It would be easy and perhaps forgiving task to chalk such commentary up to simple ignorance. However, given Omar’s past comments regarding the Jewish state, to dismiss her most recent insights as merely uninformed gibberish would evince a repeated failure to condemn what can only be anti-Semitism. New Mexico Under Attack: Yes, the Border Crisis Is a Real Invasion

If a picture is worth 1,000 words, this table from CBP of border apprehensions broken down by sector is worth 1,866:

As you can see, although the surge of family units has exploded in almost every sector of the border for the first few months of fiscal year 2019, nowhere is this surge more evident than in the El Paso sector, which lies along the borders of both Texas and New Mexico. What has been a relatively dormant sector for many years is now the second largest alien-smuggling corridor behind the Rio Grande Valley, even surpassing San Diego, Tucson, and Yuma. This sector also experienced the sharpest increase in unaccompanied teens, five times greater than the increase in San Diego. That number is beyond staggering, and more than any other data point, it encapsulates the unprecedented degree of emergency at our border. There are many lessons from what we are seeing in this sector.

Where exactly is the surge within the El Paso sector? Going from east to west, this Border Patrol sector includes Hudspeth and El Paso Counties in Texas and the three border counties in New Mexico – Doña Ana, Luna, and Hidalgo. At first glance, the numbers are surprising, given that El Paso has a substantial border wall that has been effective for many years. That wall goes all the way out to parts of Hudspeth county. While I have been unable to obtain any definitive data on the number of apprehensions in the El Paso urban area, it is quite clear from the reality on the ground that most of the emergency levels of infiltrations are occurring in New Mexico. There is almost no substantial fencing anywhere in those three New Mexico counties as strong as the fences in Yuma and El Paso.

Based on statements from CBP, local officials and ranchers, and local media, it seems clear that Hidalgo County, the westernmost county, is experiencing the worst of the invasion.

26 groups of 100 or more people have been shoved by the cartels at the border agents at or near the Antelope Wells port of entry in Hidalgo County since the beginning of the fiscal year. Just last week, a group of 306 migrants was apprehended, many of whom were experiencing health problems, including one man who was diagnosed with a flesh-eating bacteria. Bizarrely, the Las Cruces Sun-News reported this week that rates of syphilis and gonorrhea have skyrocketed in New Mexico, but leaves the source of the problem as “the million dollar question.”

The Washington Examiner interviewed the local emergency medical director in Hidalgo, who has a tiny team of professionals who are now strained with dealing with diseases of illegal aliens rather than their own county’s needs.
He said there is an “ongoing” issue with scabies at the local Border Patrol station in Lordsburg. The county manager, Tisha Green, is quoted as suggesting that “the biggest concern” is the “fact that they don’t vaccinate.” She heard that “a good 20 of the immigrants walked in with Border Patrol and all of the local residents that were there waiting for appointments were kind of pushed to the side and several of the people got up and left because they didn’t want to be around any type of illness they could be bringing in.”

The strain of an invasion of impoverished, disease-ridden migrants into a county of 5,000 people with no services is bad enough. But what else happens when these migrants come, or more accurately said, are strategically pushed forward by the smugglers? “Every time we hear that asylum seekers have turned themselves in, when it’s 100 people or more, they’re pulling the Border Patrol off the road,” said Amanda Adame, a local rancher, in an interview with the Los Cruces Sun-News. “So the drug cartels are coming in. The Border Patrol is not catching them. Those guys are the bad guys.”

KOAT Albuquerque reports that some of the illegal immigrants have broken into barns, trucks, and homes and have left drugs on the properties. KOB reported the following from ranchers:
“We’ve had vehicles stolen,” said Randy Massey.

“They’ve had bundles of weed, coke and carrying heavy artillery,” said Cammi Moore.

“The worst part of it, we had an employee kidnapped. And that was probably the worst night of my entire life until we got him back,’ said [Tricia] Elrock.

“It’s getting to the point where these confrontations are getting more aggressive and more and more violent,” said Kris Massey.

Hidalgo County has just 5,000 people living in a huge geographical space with few funds for public services. It only has four sheriff’s deputies. That is enough to deal with the residents’ needs, because they don’t have much internal crime. But they face an external invasion, which they rely on the Border Patrol to deter. The growing problem is that the cartels tie down the border agents with bogus asylum claims and force them to act as a hospital service while the cartels bring the criminals and drugs into these neighborhoods and properties. As the Silver City Daily Press reported, “While the few agents available are attending to the issues of those arriving, smugglers are trafficking drugs into the country. The Border Patrol posted a video of a large group of people climbing over the low Normandy barrier fence on the border in that remote area and into the U.S.”

Thus, they have nothing at the border but Normandy vehicle barriers and barbed wire that can easily be crossed. No major military presence (except for a contingent of the National Guard that the governor wants to pull), and just four certified deputies to deal with 3,446 square miles of land. With the cartels tying down the few agents with the wave of asylum seekers, it’s no wonder they turned Hidalgo County into their playground.

Isn’t this why we have a military, to deter such an invasion, where brutal cartels have operational control of our border to the point where they can strategically choose which areas to inundate? Don’t we owe it to the people of Hidalgo County that not one inch of their land should be vulnerable to the brutal terrorist cartels and their evil criminal behavior? Do we really need it to get worse before we act?

Earlier this week, Sheriff Mark Dannels of neighboring Cochise County, Arizona, appeared on my podcast, and he said, in contrast to New Mexico, that his county has never been better. He has the resources and the willpower from local officials to prosecute everyone, including juveniles, for drug trafficking. The cartels know to avoid his county. This is why the Sinaloa Cartel is driving all the migration either to the east of Cochise, into New Mexico, or to the west in Tucson and Yuma.

What are the results? Here’s a rancher quoted in the Santa Fe New Mexican:

“I’m scared for my life and I’m scared for my kids’ lives. Who knows what’s coming across? They don’t know what’s coming in because they’re not catching them. I feel that the biggest thing I should be scared of out here in the middle of nowhere are rattlesnakes, not two-legged rattlesnakes.”

Indeed, Tuesday evening, Border Patrol apprehended four illegal aliens near the border in the southern part of the county carrying marijuana packages and dressed in camouflage and special footwear to mask their footprints.

On December 26, the county manager and county commissioners in Hidalgo County sent a letter to the governor and senators saying they were in “dire need of resources and reinforcements” because the Border Patrol is “stretched thin” thanks to “the amount of immigrants coming in daily.” They recounted the safety concerns of their citizens, who see “up to 30 or more immigrants daily in their yards.” They also warn about the way the illegals are using the porta-potties, leaving a pile of used toilet paper out in the open. “The smell is horrific and the thought of any type of disease that many now be exposed.”

Amazingly, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, a liberal Democrat, suggested that she hasn’t “seen anything that indicates that we have an emergency crisis here at the border.” A 1,866 percent increase in family units from impoverished and disease-stricken nations in 26 groups of 100 or more is evidently a walk in the park to Grisham. When KOB4 news sent the governor’s office the concerns of border ranchers in the county who thought it was “asinine” to suggest there is no crisis, the governor’s office responded:

“There is not an emergency crisis at the border that warrants the asinine and anti-American anti-immigration tactics endorsed by the president and his minions; that’s the proper context for the governor’s remarks, and the full story of what she was expressing.”

Have things gotten this political that one side is willing to ignore their own citizens’ plea for help from an external invasion, the very reason why we have a government?

Either we have a country where every state and county matters, or we don’t. (For more from the author of “New Mexico Under Attack: Yes, the Border Crisis Is a Real Invasion” please click HERE)

Something Huge Was Just Revealed About Donald Jr.’s Trump Tower Meeting

By The Blaze. Donald Trump Jr. made several private phone calls in advance of the infamous Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer, which many Democrats have long assumed were to his father, then-candidate Donald Trump.

CNN reported Thursday that the calls were not to Trump, but rather to two unnamed business associates, according to “three sources with knowledge of the matter.”

The calls, which were between Trump Jr. and two blocked numbers that don’t show up in phone records, had previously been cited as potential evidence that President Trump knew that Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort were meeting with a Russian lawyer in an attempt to get dirt on Hillary Clinton. . .

President Trump has long maintained that he did not know about the Trump Tower meeting in advance, and he told special counsel Robert Mueller as much when he submitted his written answers to Mueller’s inquiries.

The meeting in question was between Trump Jr., Kushner, and Manafort and a Russian lawyer named Natalia Veselnitskaya. It was faciliated by Emin Agalarov, a Russian pop star who is the son of a Russian oligarch. (Read more from “Something Huge Was Just Revealed About Donald Jr.’s Trump Tower Meeting” HERE)

Reports: Trump Jr.’s mysterious phone calls after Trump Tower meeting weren’t with the president

By USA Today. The mysterious phone calls that Donald Trump Jr. made before and after his meeting with a Russian lawyer in Trump Tower were not to his father, President Donald Trump, but rather to several business associates, according to media reports.

The reports, from CNN and ABC News, which cited unnamed sources, say records given to the Senate Intelligence Committee revealed the identities of who Trump Jr. spoke with both in the hours after and in the days before the notorious 2016 meeting with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya, who the president’s eldest son thought had compromising information on rival Hillary Clinton.

The reports cast doubt on a theory long held by Democrats that the blocked phone calls were to his father, informing him of the controversial meeting. The Democrats theory seemed to hold weight for months due to contradicting explanations given by Trump Jr. about the meeting. . .

Trump Jr.’s phone calls became a focus due to the mysteriously blocked numbers. When he appeared before Congress, Trump Jr. said he did not remember who he spoke with in three calls with blocked numbers but said that he didn’t speak to his father. Dem Reps. Ocasio-Cortez, Tlaib, Omar Propose Slashing Homeland Security Funds

A group of newly elected far-left congresswomen want to slash funding to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the primary U.S. agency tasked with border security.

“Cut, do not increase funding” to the DHS, reads a bolded section of a “Dear Colleague” letter that was obtained Thursday by The Daily Beast.

The four-member letter is signed by socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., anti-Semitic, pro-Islamist Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass.

In justifying their proposal, the group claims that “a number of agencies housed at DHS have abused their authority and the fidelity of public resources.”

“Funds are being allocated internally not to make our nation safer, but to build desert camps to inhumanely house infants and to prosecute immigrants who are part of the fabric of our community,” the memo claims.

Nowhere in the letter do the four congressional Democrats address actual border security issues or the illegal migration crisis that is negatively impacting the lives of millions of American citizens. Restaurant Bans MAGA Hat and Customers Are Not Happy

With MAGA hat-wearing Catholic high school students getting branded hate-mongers for “smirking” and news analysts admitting on air that when they see the iconic red hat all they see is a white hood, one award-winning San Francisco restaurant owner has taken the inevitable next step by announcing that he will refuse service to anyone who dares wear the Make America Great Again hat at his establishment.

“It hasn’t happened yet, but if you come to my restaurant wearing a MAGA cap, you aren’t getting served, same as if you come in wearing a swastika, white hood, or any other symbol of intolerance and hate,” J. Kenji López-Alt announced on social media Sunday. “MAGA hats are like white hoods except stupider because you can see exactly who is wearing them,” he added. . .

Despite the overwhelmingly liberal leaning of the area, the restaurant’s stance was “was met with a mixed reaction from some of his diners this week,” the Chronicle reports, though most of the quotes it got from customers are negative.

One customer, who was dining at the restaurant for her second time, told the outlet, “I see where he’s coming from, but I don’t think you should just keep people out because of a hat. I get that idea, that maybe that hat could mean the person wearing it is just looking for a fight, but just cutting off dialogue, not giving a chance to get to know someone — I just don’t know if that’s something I would do.” . . .

A male customer likewise didn’t like the MAGA hat ban policy, telling the outlet, “I don’t think it matters to me about the rule, but the hat doesn’t just tell you all about the person. All people are different. It’s just weird, to me, at least, that he would make it part of this business.” (Read more from “Restaurant Bans MAGA Hat and Customers Are Not Happy” HERE)

Record Fentanyl Seizure at Border

Customs officers stationed at the commercial border crossing in Nogales made the largest fentanyl seizure ever recorded at any port of entry in the United States the day after President Donald Trump signed a bill putting an end to the longest government shutdown in history.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a canine officer alerted other officers to the presence of 254 pounds of fentanyl inside a hidden floor compartment of an 18-wheeler carrying cucumbers, during a secondary inspection at the Mariposa port of entry just past noon on Saturday. . .

He noted just how deadly that amount can be in very small doses. The synthetic opioid is 80 to 100 times more potent than morphine, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Saturday’s bust contained enough fentanyl to kill more than 115 million people, according to investigators in the case. That’s the equivalent of a third of the entire U.S. population.

In addition to the fentanyl, officers also seized 395 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside the compartment in the 18-wheeler.That was the third largest seizure of its kind along the Arizona border, CBP said. Combined the two drug busts have an estimated street value of $4.6 million. (Read more from “Record Fentanyl Seizure at Border” HERE)

Don’t Be Surprised by Dem Gov. Northam’s Abhorrent Abortion Position

“The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

Those words from Virginia Democrat Gov. Ralph Northam in defense of an extreme state abortion bill kicked off a national firestorm among pro-lifers, as well as those generally disgusted by the idea of killing a viable human infant in the name of “reproductive choice.”

Republican lawmakers on Capitol Hill responded by calling what Northam described by its proper name: Infanticide.

“In just a few years pro-abortion zealots went from ‘safe, legal, and rare’ to ‘keep the newborns comfortable while the doctor debates infanticide,” said Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., in response. “I don’t care what party you’re from – if you can’t say that it’s wrong to leave babies to die after birth, get the hell out of public office.”

“I never thought I would see the day America had government officials who openly support legal infanticide,” tweeted Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.

But of course, the major networks’ evening broadcasts made no mention of it whatsoever. In other news, water is wet.

Later that day, one of the bill’s Democratic cosponsors withdrew her support, saying that she only attached her name to the measure because she wasn’t aware of just how extreme it really was. And, make no mistake, it’s quite extreme.

But anyone who found the remarks genuinely surprising should take a hard look at how Northam’s fellow Democrats have treated abortion survivors in recent years. People do survive abortion attempts, and pro-life lawmakers have introduced bills to protect abortion survivors in the last few sessions of Congress. But most Democrats vote against them.

Last session, H.R. 4712, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, came up for a vote in the House of Representatives. It was a relatively short and simple measure to “prohibit a health care practitioner from failing to exercise the proper degree of care in the case of a child who survives an abortion or attempted abortion.”

I.E., it would prohibit that “discussion” that Northam referred to on the radio from leading to the child being killed or left to die.

The bill passed by a vote of 241 to 183. All 183 “nay” votes came from House Democrats, and only six Democrats voted in favor of it.

A Heritage Foundation policy brief in favor of the bill explained that it would have augmented a law passed and signed in 2002: “However, as the disturbing case of Kermit Gosnell has shown, babies continue to be born alive and then killed after attempted abortions or are purposely delivered alive and left to die. The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act augments the 2002 law by providing for criminal consequences for health care providers who violate the law and requires that proper medical care be given by the health care practitioner present if an infant is born alive.”

In September 2015, the Obama administration issued a formal policy statement opposing an earlier iteration of the bill, saying that heightened legal protections for abortion survivors “would likely have a chilling effect, reducing access to care”; basically, hypothetical concerns about abortion access were more important to the Obama White House than protection for infants outside the womb.

Rep. Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., now the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, defended his opposition to the measure on the House floor, making the nonsense “argument” that the requirement to admit abortion survivors to a hospital somehow “puts children’s lives and health at risk.” He also said that the implication that abortionists “cannot be trusted to take adequate measures to save a living baby’s life, is insulting and untrue.”

Just to put things in further perspective here, Nadler said that just before the vote, on January 19, 2018; Northam’s infanticide comments are 376 days later.

Given where Northam’s party members have fallen on the born-alive issue, given that the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate admitted that she “did not think” that there should be any restrictions on late-term abortion after Roe v. Wade, and given that the wider abortion activist cadre is quickly replacing the old mantra of “safe, legal, and rare” with “on demand and without apology,” should anybody be that surprised by what Northam said?
