Marine Killed by Gunshot on Capitol Hill

The gunshot wound that led to the death of a U.S. Marine at a barracks in Southeast D.C. was not self inflicted, according to an official.

The shooting was reported around 5 a.m. Officials say the Marine was shot and hospitalized but later died from a gunshot wound. . .

A D.C. police source told FOX 5’s Evan Lambert that the incident was an accident, and that it happened during a shift change when weapons are supposed to be unloaded before being passed to the next shift.

“The command’s priorities are to take care of the Marine’s family and friends,” said Col. Don Tomichm commanding officer of Marine Barracks, in a statement. “We want to ensure these personnel are being provided for during this challenging time.”

Dems Aim to Bring Big-Government Programs to Floor Vote With 2019 House Takeover

Expect to hear the words “free,” “guaranteed” and “for all” a whole lot more in the new year as Democrats prepare an arsenal of big-government bills that could actually see a floor vote once they take control of the House.

Come January, proposals like “Medicare for all” and a host of other generous-but-costly welfare programs that were little more than talking points in recent years could have a shot at passing a chamber of Congress.

“There are dozens of measures like this that have been languishing with Republicans at the helm for years, and I expect to see many of them finally come to the floor under Democratic leadership,” Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J., told Fox News.

With the GOP’s expanded majority in the Senate, it’s unlikely these measures would make it to President Trump’s desk. But their consideration on the House side would mark a first step in formally considering major government expansions – concerning everything from education to health care – that Democrats increasingly favor. And with “Medicare for all” and similar proposals amounting to litmus tests for modern progressives, roll-call votes on any of these issues would reveal just how broad their support is. . .

Some of the Democratic Party’s agenda, likely to be spearheaded by Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi, was spelled out in their “A Better Deal” campaign platform. The set of proposals claims nearly every item could be paid for by rolling back the Trump tax cuts. The most liberal bills have emerged from the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Mitt Romney Writes Op-Ed to Attack Trump

. . .The article, titled “The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump’s character falls short,” was published on Tuesday, just two days before Romney assumes office as Utah’s junior Senator. In the piece, Romney argues that while he doesn’t take issue with “all of the president’s policies,” his conduct “has not risen to the mantle of the office.”

Romney made his initial diagnosis after citing several early appointments that gave him hope — such as that of Rex Tillerson, Nikki Haley, and John Kelly — followed by recent key resignations and Trump’s proposed Syria withdrawal. . .

The Senator-elect listed several things the president has gotten “right,” but then argued that those things are only a part of the picture.

It is not that all of the president’s policies have been misguided. He was right to align U.S. corporate taxes with those of global competitors, to strip out excessive regulations, to crack down on China’s unfair trade practices, to reform criminal justice and to appoint conservative judges. These are policies mainstream Republicans have promoted for years. But policies and appointments are only a part of a presidency.

To a great degree, a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. A president should unite us and inspire us to follow “our better angels.” A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect. As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.

Kanye West Ignites Social Media With Just 3 Words

Rapper Kanye West rang in 2019 on Monday by writing pro-Trump sentiments on Twitter which resulted in him being on the receiving end of vicious attacks, many of which used racial slurs. . .

Last time West publicly came out in support of the president he was viciously attacked by CNN. The far-left network suggested that he was mentally ill, used racial slurs to attack him, used his wife’s former lovers to attack him and used his deceased mother to attack him. . .

Lemon went even lower the next day, calling West’s White House appearance a “Minstrel show,” and then used West’s deceased mother to attack him, saying he was an embarrassment to the black community and that his “mother is rolling over in her grave.”

U.S. Strategic Command Tweets Then Deletes Joke About Dropping Bombs to Ring in 2019

The U.S. Strategic Command — one of 10 unified commands in the U.S. Department of Defense, which focuses on strategic deterrence and nuclear operations — tweeted and then deleted a joke about dropping bombs to ring in the New Year on Monday night.

The tweet read, “#TimesSquare tradition rings in the #NewYear by dropping the big ball … if ever needed, we are #ready to drop something much, much bigger.” . . .

In addition, a strategic command spokesman told The Washington Post that the now-deleted tweet “was part of our Year in Review series meant to feature our command priorities: strategic deterrence, decisive response and combat-ready force. It was a repost from earlier in the year, dropping a pair of conventional Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOP) at a test range in the United States.” (Read more from “U.S. Strategic Command Tweets Then Deletes Joke About Dropping Bombs to Ring in 2019” HERE)

New State Laws for the New Year. Here’s What We Have to Look Forward to in 2019.

By Fox News. Several new state laws are set to take effect on New Year’s Day, including unprecedented minimum wage hikes, equal pay requirements and new abortion statutes — and in California, the legislation will curb gun rights, reduce criminal sentences and force publicly held corporations to elevate women to senior positions.

While the federal minimum wage remains $7.25 per hour, Seattle’s largest companies will have to start paying $16 an hour on Tuesday, after lawmakers brushed aside studies showing that the city’s ongoing minimum wage hikes are actually hurting the low-income workers they aim to help. Many New York City businesses, meanwhile, will have to begin paying at least $15 per hour this week. . .

One new Illinois law will extend the current 72-hour waiting period for purchasing handguns to all firearms; another will allow relatives or law officers to ask courts to remove guns from people believed to be a danger to themselves or others. . .

A Tennessee law will ban local governments from having “sanctuary” policies for people living in the country illegally. It bans local government policies that restrict compliance with federal immigration detainers. . .

A Kansas law, facing a court challenge, bans telemedicine abortions, in which patients seeking abortion pills consult with doctors through teleconferencing. (Read more from “New State Laws for the New Year. Here’s What We Have to Look Forward to in 2019.” HERE)

Hillary Clinton Calls 2018 ‘a Dark Time for Our Country’

By Fox News. Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton bid farewell to 2018 on Instagram Monday by calling the previous 365 days “a dark time for our country.”

Captioning a photo of herself, husband Bill and daughter Chelsea, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee wrote that she was “grateful to everyone who brought light into it”, including “activists who protected kids at the border, journalists who stood up for truth, organizers who mobilized voters for the 2018 elections, candidates who ran races with grit and inspiration, voters who made their voices heard, and absolutely everyone who marched, donated, called, and protested to fight for the values we share.”

“Here’s to more light in 2019, and to a shared commitment to make it as bright as possible,” she concluded.

It’s unclear what 2019 will hold for Clinton, even as longtime loyalists have left open the possibility that she will make a third run for the White House in 2020. (Read more from “Hillary Clinton Calls 2018 ‘a Dark Time for Our Country'” HERE)

Democrats Announce Plans to End Shutdown – Here’s How

House Democrats have announced plans to pass a funding bill that will end the shutdown — but will not provide funding for President Donald Trump’s border fencing/wall — immediately after being sworn in as the majority party on Thursday. It’s unclear what fate will await the Democrats’ measure in the Republican-controlled Senate.

The government has been partially shut down since Congress was unable to reach a funding deal on December 21st. Republicans and Democrats believed they had reached a deal to fund the government through most of 2019, but plans were scuttled when President Trump prevailed on Republicans in the House to insist on a provision that would provide $5 billion in funding for a border wall with Mexico. Democrats in the Senate promptly threatened to filibuster any funding measure that provided for a border wall, and the two sides have been at an impasse ever since, with no end in sight.

As a result of the November elections, however, Democrats will take over control of the House of Representatives when the new Congress is sworn in on Thursday, and they plan to introduce their own funding measure, according to Politico.

According to Politico, House Democrats plan to immediately pass a two-part funding measure; one that would fund the Department of Homeland Security through February 8th, and one that would fund the rest of the government through the end of the current fiscal year.

Senate Republicans have not yet commented on the Democrats’ plans, but it seems unlikely that the government will re-open unless President Trump changes his public stance in either case. Trump has promised to oppose any plan to re-open the government that does not include funding for his signature campaign progress. Reporter on Trump Dossier Allegations Reveals Truth About Investigation

Well, investigative reporter Michael Isikoff finally admits what many have already suspected: the Trump Dossier isn’t backed up with solid evidence and the most salacious and outrageous allegations are likely false. So, it’s mostly unverifiable. And yet, there are allegations that it was used to secure spy warrants against former Trump campaign officials, like Carter Page. Isikoff said that ex-MI6 spook Christopher Steele had some good leads, but the evidence is just not there (via USA Today):

A reporter, who was among the first to report on former British intelligence agent Michael Steele’s dossier alleging ties between the Trump campaign and Russian officials, said in an interview some of the dossier’s “more sensational allegations” are “likely false.”

Michael Isikoff, the chief investigative correspondent for Yahoo News, said Saturday during an interview on conservative commentator John Ziegler’s “Free Speech Broadcasting” podcast that “Steele was clearly onto something” in his probe into the campaign’s Russian connection but evidence has not surfaced to support some of his specific assertions.

Steele was correct to suspect “that there was a major Kremlin effort to interfere in our elections, that they were trying to help Trump’s campaign, and that there were multiple contacts between various Russian figures close to the government and various people in the Trump campaign,” Isikoff said.

But he said when “you actually get into the details of the Steele dossier, the specific allegations, we have not seen the evidence to support them, and, in fact, there’s good grounds to think that some of the more sensational allegations will never be proven and are likely false.”

Hilarious: Trump Mocks Elizabeth Warren Over Potential Presidential Run

By Daily Wire. President Donald Trump mocked Sen. Elizabeth Warren on Monday when asked by Fox News’ Pete Hegseth if he thought Warren really believes that she has a chance of winning the presidential election in 2020.

“She did very badly in proving that she was of Indian heritage,” Trump said. “That didn’t work out too well. I think you have more than she does and maybe I do, too. And I have nothing. So, you know, we’ll see how she does. I wish her well. I hope she does well. I’d love to run against her.” . . .

Trump: Warren’s ‘Psychiatrist’ Knows Whether She Thinks She Can Win White House in 2020

By Fox News. In an exclusive interview aired during Fox News’ “All-American New Year” special Monday night, President Trump suggested that only U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s “psychiatrist” knows whether she thinks she can win the White House in 2020.

Warren, a Massachusetts Democrat, announced Monday she is filing paperwork to launch an exploratory committee for president, becoming the first candidate to take the major step toward a 2020 run for the presidency.

Fox News’ Pete Hegseth asked Trump whether Warren really thinks she could make him a one-term president.

“Well, that I don’t know,” Trump responded. “You’d have to ask her psychiatrist.”

Warren, a liberal firebrand who rose to prominence during the 2008 financial crisis, angered many top Democrats and Native American groups in October by releasing inconclusive DNA test results in response to Trump’s claims that she repeatedly lied about her heritage to obtain affirmative-action benefits in the course of her academic career. The Media Never Cares When Americans Are Killed by Illegal Aliens

Our country is evidently an illegal alien’s world. We just happen to live in it.

Murders committed by foreigners on our soil are the most avoidable crimes. They are also the number one threat from which the federal government was created to protect us: external threats. Yet because illegal aliens are treated as a protected class, those murdered by them have no representation in the media, unlike the way every illegal alien death at the border is reported and blamed on the Border Patrol.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that among the many desperate people coming over a transnational border illegally from violent countries, there will be many criminal elements. I’ve quantified the illegal alien crime statistics from just one year of ICE apprehensions, and the numbers are staggering. There are over 2,000 illegal alien murder suspects (most of them convictions) apprehended by ICE almost every year. Yet if we had a border wall, ended the lawfare in the courts, and removed the migration magnets, they would never come here in the first place. And if we didn’t have sanctuary states like California, they would be apprehended immediately, certainly after committing their first crimes, which are often preludes to murder.

Thus, there’s no way we can prevent the deaths of foreign children abused by their parents and human smugglers, but by shutting down illegal immigration, we can prevent every single death of an American at the hands of foreign nationals, as well as the needless deaths of immigrant children making the trek because of our magnetized border.

Which brings us to the death of Ronil Singh, the California police officer killed by an illegal alien last week. On Friday, Gustavo Perez Arriaga, a Mexican illegal alien, was arrested near Modesto, California, on charges of killing Cpl. Ronil Singh after the young cop pulled the suspect over under suspicion he was driving while intoxicated. Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson revealed at a press conference Friday that Arriaga had ties to the Sureño street gang, had two prior arrests for DUIs, and was working as a farm laborer in the Stanislaus County area after crossing the border in Arizona several years ago.

A number of other family members and associates of Arriaga were arrested on charges of being accomplices to the murder. One of the accomplices, Razo Qurioz, was deported twice, according to Breitbart, based on information from ICE.

Once again, we see that without a wall and with the allure of sanctuary states, these criminal aliens keep coming back, even when we finally apprehend and deport them.

Most murderers usually commit other crimes before graduating to the ultimate sins. Many illegal alien murderers are gang members who had previously been arrested for drug trafficking, assault, and DUIs. These are terrible crimes in their own right and should result in immediate deportation upon arrest. While American criminals of such caliber often benefit from our weak criminal justice system, illegal aliens picked up for drugs or DUIs should be out of this country immediately. That is something on which we should all agree. Yet sanctuary city politicians do everything they can to release these terrible criminals when they are caught for what are perceived as “lesser” crimes.

Then there is the issue of identity theft. How was this suspect able to work freely in the country? As we’ve noted before, most of the day laborers can only make it in this country illegally if we fail to clamp down on their identity theft, a crime that local officials in sanctuaries view as a non-entity. Even the feds have failed to use the systems we have to detect them, and in fact, the IRS explicitly invites them to engage in criminality by filing tax returns to receive refundable credits.

The criminal alien DUI problem is also completely covered up by the media. Every year, ICE apprehends illegals responsible for roughly 80,000 DUIs, 76,000 other traffic offenses, 76,000 drug offenses, and 50,000 assaults. Yet the majority of illegals live in sanctuary jurisdictions that won’t turn over those with such “low-level” charges. Thus, one could imagine that the severity of the illegal crime wave is much worse than the ICE apprehensions suggest. Sure, even sanctuaries will turn over illegals once they’ve committed murder, but the murderers usually come from the pool of those who committed these other offenses for which the sanctuaries will not honor ICE detainers.

Over the weekend, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, authorities almost allowed an alien murder suspect to go free because, in the estimation of the local bail bondsman, the new sheriff in the Charlotte-based county recently decided to terminate the287(g) cooperation agreement with federal immigration agents.

The stories are endless. Just last week, another illegal alien killed an American in Pixley, California, after he was previously deported and after he had previously been arrested but set free despite an ICE detainer. According to local media in Houston, two MS-13 members, both of prime “dreamer” age, were arrested for allegedly assassinating a 16-year-old boy and then committed aggravated robbery right afterwards. The week before Christmas, a 12-year-old in Bridgeport, Connecticut, was killed by a Jamaican illegal who had already served time in jail for assault. Bridgeport is a sanctuary in all but name only.

Over the weekend, Breitbart reported that a Mexican national who was given an H2B visa was reported by the Mexican government to federal authorities the very next day that he was wanted for a double homicide. While this man was legally admitted, he is among the same demographic of cheap labor that is being brought in without any regard for public safety or social concerns. The lust of corporate America for cheap labor is turning America into the refuge for the worst criminals of some of the most violent countries.

The question every American must ask is why are all these known criminal aliens on the streets and not turned over to ICE? And this doesn’t even include the one million criminal aliens with final deportation orders who are still at large, as Secretary Nielsen said earlier this month at a House Judiciary hearing.

The criminal alien crime problem is unconscionable and can be solved overnight by not only building the wall, but cutting off all funding to sanctuary cities, using the IRS and SSA to end, rather than enable, illegal alien identity theft, and to immediately ramp up deportations. Finally, it’s time we solve the illegal alien DUI problem. Trump should demand passage of former Rep. Sue Myrick’s old bill – the Scott Gardner Act – to mandate deportation of all illegal aliens arrested for DUI. The consequences of DUI are devastating and completely unnecessary.

It’s simply disgraceful that so few Republicans are augmenting Trump’s message on sovereignty, immigration, and public safety. They spent their final weeks in power promoting weak-on-crime laws rather than getting tough on criminal aliens and sanctuary cities. If our politicians in both parties can’t even address the most avoidable problem of foreign criminals against whom they are charged with protecting us, we have a complete shutdown of law and order.

Who will reopen our government? The DHS is already shut down. When Border Patrol is forced to serve as the facilitators of the drug cartel’s criminal conspiracy and then get blamed for its effects, that is the ultimate shutdown. When ICE is forced to release over 1,000 aliens near El Paso with no regard to how many criminals will roam free, that is a shutdown of the entire purpose of the federal government. And when criminal cities and states or sanctuary courts can stop the federal government from executing one of the core jobs that distinguishes our constitutional system from the Articles of Confederation, we no longer have a constitutional republic.

As this fight kicks into high gear, rather than backing down on funding the wall, Trump should double down on defunding sanctuary cities. (For more from the author of “The Media Never Cares When Americans Are Killed by Illegal Aliens” please click HERE)
