Kavanaugh’s Accuser Just Added a Big Condition for Her to Testify Publicly

Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who has accused federal judge and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, will not testify publicly about the alleged incident unless a “full investigation by law enforcement officials” is completed beforehand, according to her attorneys.

Ford’s legal team sent a letter to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and that letter was obtained by CNN.

“…a full investigation by law enforcement officials will ensure that the crucial facts and witnesses in this matter are assessed in a non-partisan manner, and that the Committee is fully informed before conducting any hearing or making any decisions,” the letter read. . .

This situation has developed quickly since Friday. As of Monday night, it appeared Ford was willing to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee next Monday, along with Kavanaugh. By Tuesday morning, however, that appearance was in doubt as Grassley said they had not been able to get in touch with Ford. . .

“Asking her to come forward in four or five days and sit before the Judiciary Committee on national TV is not a fair process,” Ford attorney Lisa Banks said to CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “If they care about doing the right thing here and treating this seriously as they have said, then they will do the right thing and they will properly investigate this, and she will work with them in that investigation and also to share her story with the committee.” (Read more from “Kavanaugh’s Accuser Just Added a Big Condition for Her to Testify Publicly” HERE)

California Governor Jerry Brown Ramps up His Anti-Trump Rhetoric in Latest Tirade

By The Blaze. California Governor Jerry Brown unleashed his most heated rhetoric yet against President Donald Trump, including a statement some are taking as a threat. . .

Brown went on to decry Trump’s “lies, distortions” and “bizarre behavior” on climate change. Brown warned that as climate change conditions worsen, that there would be more mass migration due to land not being able to feed people anymore. . .

When asked about the president denying reports that thousands died in Puerto Rico from hurricane Maria, Brown continued his verbal attack.

“The problem is, we never had a president who’s engaged in this kind of behavior,” Brown responded. “I mean he’s not telling the truth. He keeps changing his mind. He’s sabotaging the world order in many respects.”

“So it’s unprecedented,” he continued, “it’s dangerous, and hopefully this election is gonna send a strong message that the country The Democrats will win, and Trump, well something’s gotta happen to this guy because if we don’t get rid of him, he’s gonna undermine America and even the world.” (Read more from “California Governor Jerry Brown Ramps up His Anti-Trump Rhetoric in Latest Tirade” HERE)

California Gov. Brown on Trump: ‘Something’s Got to Happen to This Guy…He’s Going to Undermine America’

By Fox News. California Gov. Jerry Brown ramped up his criticism of President Trump in an interview that aired Monday – calling the president a “saboteur” in the fight to combat climate change and saying that “something’s got to happen to this guy.” . . .

Under Brown, California has become one of the main opponents to the Trump administration’s policies on everything from land use to immigration. But there is perhaps no area where California has been more combative against the White House agenda than the environment.

“California has positioned itself as the center of the Trump resistance,” Jessica Levinson, a clinical law professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, told Fox News. “It’s bloody combat.”

Earlier this month, Brown signed two pieces of legislation effectively banning the construction of any new offshore oil and gas pipelines in the state’s waters. The new laws are meant to thwart a Trump plan to open nearly 1.7 billion acres of coastal waters to drilling.

Shortly before the climate conference began last week, the governor also put his signature on legislation phasing out electricity in the state produced by fossil fuels by 2045. Blue Wave Receding? TX GOP Wins Special Election in District Held by Democrats for 139 Years

Special elections aren’t the best gauges for predicting the results of an election year, but since the liberal media touted such wins as a harbinger for the GOP apocalypse, let’s pop the champagne for the clutch win in Texas last night. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has to be happy. This special state Senate election saw a Republican win in a district that’s remained in Democratic hands for 139 years. The GOP wasn’t even supposed to be competitive in this race; they ended up winning it by 6 points. Oh, and Clinton carried this district in 2016 by 12 points. Needless to say, Democrats were a little shell-shocked (via San Antonio Express-News):

A retired game warden, [Pete] Flores defeated former state and U.S. Rep. Pete Gallego for the Senate District 19 seat after receiving backing from some of the state’s most prominent politicians, including Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and U.S. Sens John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.

“We conservatives are conservative in the way we make approaches. The gunfight’s not over until the last shot’s fired,” Flores told the Express-News after Gallego conceded in a phone call just before 9 p.m. “The last shot’s been fired.”

According the Secretary of State’s website, Flores won with 53 percent of the vote to Gallego’s 47 percent with 44,487 ballots cast.

Flores and Gallego competed in Tuesday’s runoff after emerging from an eight-candidate field in first- and second-place, respectively, in July’s special election to replace former Sen. Carlos Uresti. The longtime lawmaker vacated his seat in June after being convicted of 11 felony charges.

GOP Rep. Will Continue to Campaign Despite Being Indicted for Insider Trading

Rep. Chris Collins (R-NY) released a statement Wednesday explaining his decision to run for a fourth term for New York’s 27th Congressional District despite being indicted for insider trading charges in August.

“The stakes are too high to allow the radical left to take control of this seat in Congress,” he wrote. “Their agenda is clear. They want to reverse the recently enacted tax cuts, impose Canadian style healthcare, inflict new job killing regulations and impeach President Trump.

According to investigators, Collins tipped his son off about an Australian pharmaceutical company, Innate Immunotherapeutics, failing a clinical trial. Collins was the company’s largest shareholder and he, along with his son and other family members, were able to sell their stock in the company before it was affected. They were able to avoid losing $750,000.

Is Obama Hurting Democrats’ Chances in the Midterm Elections?

Barack Obama’s decision to re-enter the political fray on the eve of midterm elections has sparked lively discussions across the political field on whether his attempts to help Democrats regain power and influence will be effective.

From his endorsement of 81 Democrats, to his hawkish speech at the University of Illinois, to the recent rallies in California and Ohio and an upcoming rally in Philadelphia, Obama’s campaigning activity has inevitably drawn attention to his own presidency. While the mainstream media is spreading enthusiastic optimism and praises Obama’s genius, many pundits and analysts are rightfully pointing out Obama’s failures, hypocrisy and unfulfilled promises that could be more of a hindrance than a help for Democrats on Nov. 6.

Obama’s “legacy”

Most Americans remember how Obama’s foreign policy undermined America’s international image. President Obama started his presidency with his infamous “apology tour” across the Middle East. It set a foundation for the indecisive and weak foreign policy that allowed both allies and enemies to take advantage of the United States.

In 2009, Obama got a Noble Peace Prize “in advance,” but ended up making the world less safe. A premature withdraw of U.S. troops from Iraq and Afghanistan was one of the factors that caused the Arab Spring with its wave of the bloody large-scale religious conflicts, insurgencies and civil wars. This, in turn, created a fertile ground for the widespread rise of the Islamic extremist and terrorist groups, including ISIS.

Then, it was Russia annexing Crimea and waging a proxy war in the Eastern Ukraine, a geographical hub of Europe.

Then, it was a reckless “nuclear deal” with Iran that cheated on its obligations. Obama even managed to spoil relations with the EU which suffered from the migration crisis created by his short-sighted Middle-Eastern policy.

Most tragically, Middle-Eastern mistakes cost the lives of the U.S. embassy officials, including Ambassador Chris Steven’s.

Obama’s domestic policy was just as controversial. It is true that Obama was able to deal with the 2008 recession via his stimulus plan. On a positive note, the stimulus combined with the 2010 tax cuts resulted in the creation of the new jobs, and the unemployment rate was consistently lowering. Obama maintained an expansionary monetary policy that created the low-interest rates that allowed the early stages of the housing recovery and slow but steady business expansion.

But the price to pay for that was high. During his presidency, the national debt was doubled, with a 105 percent GDP, which is an absolute anti-record.

One of the much-taunted Obama’s “achievements” was Obamacare that aimed to create a universal health care system, but instead resulted, among other things, in worsening the quality of medical services, and lead to the higher insurance rates.

Obama’s presidency was also the most racially divided times in our nation’s history. In a New York Times/CBS News poll conducted in July of Obama’s final year in office, 69 percent of Americans said that race relations were bad and that “six in 10 Americans say that race relations were growing worse, up from 38 percent a year ago.” Everyone remembers burning Ferguson and Baltimore.

Then it was a thoughtless “Fast and furious” operation that funneled 2,000 firearms directly into the hands of the Mexican drug cartels.

The list of Obama’s “legacy” is long and deserves a separate study. But overall, it is difficult to call Obama an outstanding president.

Most of all, even a brief comparison of Trump’s achievements to those of Obama put the latter to shame.

Not Helping

Many conservative observers believe that Obama will harm Democrats’ chances to win the election: “Now the ex-president is back an encore, reminding Americans not only why Donald Trump rather than Hillary Clinton sit in the Oval Office today, but also why Democrats’ hopes for a ‘blue wave’ in November might be overblown,” wrote Ben Boychuk.

“Rather than maintaining even some semblance of presidential dignity — rallying Democrats around a set of principles without attacking a sitting president — Obama launched an unrestraint, full-frontal assault on his successor,” noted Marc A. Thiessen.

Indeed, so much for the “class” that the Democrats attribute to Obama — implying Republicans around the country to be the “Nazi sympathizers,” and taking credit for the booming economy even while warning that the nation is at a dangerous crossroads and going through the “dark times.”

As for Obama’s endorsements, it may be a disadvantage for a candidate who gets it, as the record shows. Thus, in 2010, Republicans gained control of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. Many of Obama’s candidates for Congress and for governorship fell short in that election, leading some to question Obama’s influence. His most infamous failed endorsement was for Hillary Clinton in 2016. Ironically, Obama was one of those whom Clinton later blamed for her defeat.

Despite the adoration of the mainstream media and the fact that the former president still enjoys a popularity among the Democrats nationwide, many are raising concern that his re-entrance in the political arena might inadvertently distract Democrats from their strategy and even activate conservatives and Trump supporters.

As The Hill reported, one of these is Sen. Jon Tester, along with Sen. Heidi Heitkamp. As Sen. Tester said of Obama, “We’re not going to use any surrogates. Surrogates are fine, but we don’t need them. The race is myself and Matt Rosendale and that’s the way we want to keep it.”

So maybe Obama is helping, but not those whom he rallies for. (For more from the author of “Is Obama Hurting Democrats’ Chances in the Midterm Elections?” please click HERE)

Kavanaugh Accuser’s Lawyer Contradicts the Original Story in Recent Interview

The attorney for the woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of a decades-old sexual assault offered a slightly different version of events than her client.

In a letter to Democrat Sen. Dianne Feinstein, accuser Christine Blasey Ford said there were four other people at the high school party where Kavanaugh allegedly tried to climb on top of her and remove her clothes.

“The assault occurred in a suburban Maryland area home at a gathering that included me and four others,” Ford wrote to Feinstein, according to the contents of the letter that was obtained by CNN.

Kavanaugh has vehemently denied the incident ever took place.

Ford’s claim is consistent with an interview she gave with The Washington Post, in which she said that “there were four boys at the party” and “two in the room” where she was allegedly assaulted.

However, during an appearance on CNN on Monday, attorney Debra Katz gave host Alisyn Camerota a different account of who was at the party.

“She says that there were four guys there, these are high school students, as was she,” Camerota said. “There were four guys there. Were there any girls there that day?”

“Yes, there was another girl at this party, yes,” Katz replied.

Katz said Ford has not tried to corroborate her story by contacting those who allegedly attended the party.

“That’s not her job to do that. If this is going to be investigated, it should be done by investigators,” Katz said.

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee are currently calling for a full FBI investigation into Ford’s allegations, arguing that no vote can take place on Kavanaugh’s nomination until the FBI has investigated her claims.

Republicans have scheduled a hearing for Monday to allow Kavanaugh and his accuser to testify. Ford insists that the FBI must investigate before she will testify.

Ford has identified Mark Judge, a high school friend of Kavanaugh, as a second male in the room with Kavanaugh during the incident.

Judge denies her claim.

“It’s just absolutely nuts,” Judge told The Weekly Standard. “I never saw Brett act that way.”

“Brett Kavanaugh and I were friends in high school but I do not recall the party described in Dr. Ford’s letter,” he said in a letter Tuesday to the Senate Judiciary Committee. “More to the point, I never saw Brett act in the manner Dr. Ford describes.” (For more from the author of “Kavanaugh Accuser’s Lawyer Contradicts the Original Story in Recent Interview” please click HERE)

As Ex-Girlfriends Vouch for Kavanaugh, Hollywood Actress Jumps in

A line has clearly been drawn regarding the potentially damning sexual allegations launched against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

On the same day two women who used to date Kavanaugh came out in stark defense of him on Fox News, Hollywood actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus has come out to support the accuser by signing a letter penned by various members of her alma mater.

Louis-Dreyfus, an alumna of Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland, the same college prep school Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford went to, came out to publicly support Kavanaugh’s accuser.

“Dr. Blasey Ford’s experience is all too consistent with stories we heard and lived while attending Holton. Many of us are survivors ourselves,” the letter signed by various Holton-Arms alumnae reads.

“It demands a thorough and independent investigation before the Senate can reasonably vote on Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to a lifetime seat on the nation’s highest court,” the letter states.

These College Students Aren’t Voting. You Won’t Believe Why.

By The Daily Wire. Democrats are relying on young voters to turn out in record numbers to preserve the so-called “blue wave” in November. But if college students in Virginia are any indication, getting kids to vote may be harder than it seems.

According to local news station WTOP, Fairfax County college students aren’t likely to return their absentee ballots because “a U.S. Postal Service stamp seems to be a foreign concept to them.” . . .

Apparently, members of a focus group convened in Fairfax County agreed. The college students who turned up to explain to Fairfax County officials why so few of their friends vote had a “spirited conversation” on the subject of finding, obtaining, and using stamps to send “snail mail.”

This is bad news for Democrats, who need the largely liberal college student demographic to vote in areas that aren’t “safe” blue zones. Either that, or they’ll have to start including self-addressed stamped envelopes in absentee voter packages. (Read more from “These College Students Aren’t Voting. You Won’t Believe Why.” HERE)

Why College Students Don’t Vote Absentee? They Don’t Know Where to Buy a Postage Stamp

By WTOP. “Vote or die.” Unless, it’s too hard to find a stamp.

A Fairfax County focus group this summer found many college students who have gotten an absentee ballot simply fail to send it back because a U.S. Postal Service stamp seems to be a foreign concept to them.

“One thing that came up, which I had heard from my own kids but I thought they were just nerdy, was that the students will go through the process of applying for a mail-in absentee ballot, they will fill out the ballot, and then, they don’t know where to get stamps,” Lisa Connors with the Fairfax County Office of Public Affairs said.

“That seems to be like a hump that they can’t get across.”

The focus group included college interns from across numerous county departments. (Read more from “Why College Students Don’t Vote Absentee? They Don’t Know Where to Buy a Postage Stamp” HERE)

FUNNY NOT FUNNY: NY Times Says It’s Looking For Fake News

On Tuesday, a New York Times reporter tweeted that the paper wanted its readers to send the newspaper incidences of fake news, stating that the paper was ‘looking for false information being spread deliberately to confuse, mislead, or influence voters ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.”

The Times might start by looking inward just a little. In July 2017, the Times published a widely-condemned scurrilous editorial reiterating a long-debunked conspiracy theory suggesting that a map published by Sarah Palin’s PAC listing electoral districts caused Jared Lee Loughner to shoot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) in 2011.

In May 2018, the Times understated the number of people at a Trump rally in Nashville, Tennessee, saying there were 1,000 people when there were reportedly between 5,000-8,000 people there. In July 2018, the Times was caught after repeating a reportedly false claim from 1987 that Israel’s founding prime minister, David Ben Gurion, wanted Israel to give up land it had conquered in the 1967 Six-Day War.

Most recently, last week the Times published a piece that elicited outrage against U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley titled “Nikki Haley’s View of New York Is Priceless. Her Curtains? $52,701.”

North Dakota Is Now Pumping as Much Crude as Venezuela

By Yahoo. North Dakota’s oil production surged to a new record in July, putting the mid-western state on par with OPEC member Venezuela.

Home to the Bakken shale play, North Dakota pumped 1.27 million barrels a day in July, according to state figures released Friday. That’s roughly the same output as Venezuela during the month. The South American nation, whose oil industry has collapsed amid a prolonged financial crisis, saw production fall further in August to 1.24 million barrels a day — about half the level seen in early 2016, according to data from OPEC secondary sources. U.S. Now the Largest Global Crude Oil Producer, EIA Says

By Workboat. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimated in their latest Short-Term Energy Outlook released last week that the U.S. is now the largest global crude oil producer, likely surpassing Russia and Saudi Arabia.

In February, U.S. crude oil production exceeded that of Saudi Arabia for the first time in more than two decades. In June and August, the U.S. surpassed Russia in crude oil production for the first time since February 1999.

The Department of Energy (DOE) also announced that on Sept. 6 a short-term order was issued to Freeport LNG to export up to 2.14 billion cu. ft. per day (Bcf/d) of natural gas as liquefied natural gas (LNG) over a two-year period to both free-trade and non-free trade agreement countries. This order authorizes Freeport LNG’s initial commissioning volumes and other exports pursuant to short-term contracts. Freeport LNG will be exporting the LNG from the Freeport LNG Liquefaction Project, which is currently under construction on Quintana Island near Freeport, Texas.

During this two-year authorization period, Freeport LNG will be able to export LNG to any country not prohibited by U.S. law or policy. The two-year export term will become effective on the date of the facility’s first export of LNG, currently projected to be in the third quarter of 2019.
