Three F-15E Eagles Downed in Kuwait in ‘Friendly Fire Incident’, Pilots Eject Safely Says Local Authorities

Following earlier reports of fighter jets downed over Kuwait, CENTCOM has confirmed the loss of three F-15E Strike Eagle fighters around 0700 Kuwait time (2303 Eastern). The aircraft were engaged in “active combat” in support of Operation Epic Fury against “Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones” and were shot down “over Kuwait due to an apparent friendly fire incident”.

They said: “the U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses.”

CENTCOM confirmed what had earlier been said by the Kuwaiti authorities that “All six aircrew ejected safely, have been safely recovered, and are in stable condition”.

The American authorities added: “Kuwait has acknowledged this incident, and we are grateful for the efforts of the Kuwaiti defense forces and their support in this ongoing operation.

The cause of the incident is under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.” (Read more from “Three F-15E Eagles Downed in Kuwait in ‘Friendly Fire Incident’, Pilots Eject Safely Says Local Authorities” HERE)

Kuwait Summons Top US Diplomat Over Tweets Celebrating Pride Month

Officials from Kuwait have summoned a diplomat over the U.S. Embassy’s decision to post tweets supporting Pride Month.

Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry summoned U.S. Charges d’Affaires James Holtsnider on Thursday to hand him a memorandum regarding a series of tweets “supporting homosexuality” and demanded that it not happen again. Kuwait is one of 69 countries where homosexuality is banned.

“All human beings should be treated with respect and dignity and should be able to live without fear no matter who they are or whom they love,” the embassy tweeted in reference to a May 17 statement by President Joe Biden, referring to the president as “a champion for the human rights of #LGBTQI persons.”

The ministry accused the embassy of violating international conventions that require diplomats to “respect the laws and regulations of the receiving state,” referencing the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. It then ordered the U.S. Embassy to respect Kuwait’s laws and “not to publish such tweets,” according to the BBC. Christian Businesswoman and Mother Sentenced to 15 Years in Kuwait Prison

A Kuwaiti court sentenced a Russian national and mother of a 5-year-old U.S. citizen to 15 years in prison Monday, her attorneys told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

This is the second time Marsha Lazareva has been sentenced since the Kuwait government arrested her in 2017 while doing business in the country under charges of embezzlement. The country sentenced her to 10 years of prison and hard labor in May 2018, though her attorneys told the DCNF she did nothing wrong.

A Kuwaiti appeals court recognized Lazareva, who held U.S. green-card status before her 2017 arrest, was unlawfully convicted on May 5. The country released her in June after she spent about 472 days in prison. Her legal team posted millions of dollars in bail and a judge overturned her conviction, according to her lawyers.

But Kuwaiti officials again convicted Lazareva on two more charges in a different case Monday despite a “complete absence of evidence,” her attorneys told the DCNF, though they could not disclose more details about the charges.

“In Defense of Christians is very disappointed by the conviction Monday of Marsha Lazareva, the Orthodox Christian woman being wrongfully held in Kuwait, and its impact on her five-year-old son who is with her,” Peter Burns, policy director of the nonprofit human rights organization In Defense of Christians, said in a statement to the DCNF.
