One Photo of George W. Bush Emerged From Nancy Reagan’s Funeral That Has Everyone Talking

It’s often said that a picture speaks a thousand words, but one photo that emerged from former First Lady Nancy Reagan’s funeral seems to be saying a lot of different things to different people, stirring passions on both sides of the political aisle . . .

The photo was posted to Twitter by CNN political director David Chalian and was accompanied by the caption “This may be the best photo from Mrs. Reagan’s funeral.”

Many people immediately reacted to the photo by saying it was nice to see famous American politicians with opposing ideologies such as a Bush and Clinton letting their guard down in a time of mourning and celebration of the life of Mrs. Reagan.

And many liberals, including some Bernie Sanders fans, were also upset. To them, the photo proved that Hillary was exactly the same as the president many of them despised.

When Nancy Reagan’s Stepson Saw Obama Was Skipping Her Funeral, He Immediately Knew What to Say

Nancy Reagan’s stepson had a very simple explanation for why President Obama decided to party at the South by Southwest Interactive Festival instead of attending Nancy Reagan’s funeral on Friday.

“It seems that Barack Obama has never learned the right thing to do,” said Michael Reagan, during an interview Wednesday with Newsmax TV.

“It would’ve been nice if he would’ve honored Nancy and been there, but I’m not surprised again,” Reagan said. “Imagine if Nancy were a Democrat, liberal — or if Ronald Reagan was, he probably would be there.”

“Sometimes, there’s a right thing to do,” he said. “Whether you agree with something or not, sometime it’s just the right thing to do. He just keeps on missing the ball on that one” . . .

Michael Reagan said Nancy Reagan’s influence was a tremendous positive for his father’s presidency.

“What was great about Nancy is not only was she a great helpmate and spouse to my father in that way and a great first lady, but she was that last person to lay her head on the pillow at night that could have the ear of the president of the United States and try to protect him from people out there who were trying to use him for their own good,” he said. FLASHBACK: Obama Insulted Nancy Reagan on Day One

President Barack Obama’s decision to skip Nancy Reagan’s funeral in California on Friday in favor of attending the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Texas is not the first time Obama has insulted the former First Lady.

On Nov. 7, 2008, at his very first press conference after winning the election, President-elect Obama cracked a nasty joke at Nancy Reagan’s expense, referring to stories that she consulted an astrologer in the White House.

Obama was answering a question from a journalist who had asked him whether he had spoken to any of his predecessors. Obama’s flippant, contemptuous response is recorded in the transcript of the event:

QUESTION: Thank you for asking. Here’s my question. I’m wondering what you’re doing to get ready. Have you spoke to any living ex-presidents, what books you might be reading?…

OBAMA: … In terms of speaking to former presidents, I have spoken to all of them that are living. Obviously, President Clinton — I didn’t want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about, you know, doing any seances.

NY Times, Wash Post Criticized for Nancy Reagan Obituaries

By Greg Richter. The New York Times and Washington Post both went for the negative early in their reporting Sunday on the death of former first lady Nancy Reagan, and conservative commentators made note of it.

Washington Times chief political correspondent Byron York was first to tweet about The New York Times’ obituary . . .

Meanwhile, Mediaite’s Joe Concha noticed that Lois Romano, the writer of The Washington Post’s obituary, was clearly no friend to the former first lady or to Republicans in general.

Romano appears from her Twitter account to loathe “the Republican party and also appears to have affinity for one female Democratic presidential candidate in particular going back years to her time at Politico,” Concha writes. “Just how she got the official nod to reflect on the life of Nancy Reagan by the powers that be at The Washington Post is an utter mystery.” (Read more from “NY Times, Wash Post Criticized for Nancy Reagan Obituaries” HERE)

Michael Reagan: She’s With Her Ronnie Now

By News Max. After former first lady Nancy Reagan died Sunday, it didn’t take long for tributes from the political world to start pouring in.

Reagan died in her Los Angeles home of congestive heart failure. Political figures from her stepson, Michael, to Mitt Romney and Donald Trump quickly took to social media to remember the late actress-turned-first lady, calling on her take on the prevention of drug abuse and her love for husband Ronald Reagan.

“Nancy is where she has always wanted to be with her Ronnie,” Michael Reagan, a Newsmax TV analyst, wrote on Twitter.

“Now she is at peace,” added Reagan, who also is president of the Reagan Legacy Foundation. (Read more from “Michael Reagan: She’s With Her Ronnie Now” HERE)
