Video: Krauthammer Says Obama’s ‘Fiscal Cliff’ Crisis Executed With Ruthless Skill To Fracture GOP

(DC) On Thursday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer criticized President Barack Obama for his ruthlessness in the fiscal cliff negotiations, suggesting his aim is to break House Republicans and not solve the fiscal cliff.

Krauthammer also said the president is not as well-positioned as it seems, nor is the GOP as poorly positioned as some people think.

“I do begrudge what he’s done in this fiscal cliff talks,” Krauthammer said. “It’s been very clear from the beginning that he had no intention to solve the fiscal issues. He’s been using this, and I must say with great skill and ruthless skill and success, to fracture and basically shatter the Republican opposition. The only, you know, redoubt of the opposition is the House. And his objective from the very beginning was to break the will of the Republicans in the House and to create an internal civil war, and he’s done that. How did he do it? By always insisting from day one after the election that Republicans had to raise rates. There’s no reason at all to get the revenue that he needed and that the speaker was offering him that you had to raise rates.”

“Obama himself, as you know, said last July — July 2011 — you can get $1.2 trillion by eliminating loopholes, which is exactly what Republicans offered him,” he continued. “So why did he insist on the rates? He said that is what he will insist upon, and that was the ultimatum. He did that because he knew it would create a crisis among the Republicans, and it did. So right up until now Obama has what he wanted, which was a partisan, political success. He’s been less worried about the fiscal issue for two reasons. Number one, he does not care about debt. He hasn’t in the four years. And number two, he thinks he’s a political winner if we go over the cliff. He thinks he’s holding all the cards.”

Dr. Krauthammer is brilliant, but he’s mistaken on the basic premise of Obama’s strategy. Obama’s goal is to bring the United States of America to its knees, to destroy our economy and make us weak and useless. The insulated GOP in Washington don’t know this, mostly because they are pretty stupid and they are trying to make a deal and compromise with the Devil. I hope Dr. Krauthammer is correct in that this will eliminate the Republican party, so that true conservatives can form another opposition party that has some moral fiber and understands who they are up against. John Boehner will be black listed from the new party.

    • Obama is close to his Marixan goal from each according to his ability to each according to his need. That philosophy is 180 degrees opposite of what makes us great.

Today with 47% of the population on some sort of redistribution of wealth from the government, we are closer to Marx’s goal. Marx’s maxium should be modified from each nation willing to loan to the US, to each US citizen willing to accept socialism.

      This has gotta change soon.

krauthammer hasn’t a clue.he is stuck in a web of political correctness, that does not allow him to see the obvious. b.h.o. has managed to place the u.s.a.,in the embryonic stages of “captive nation” status.the press is compromised, all his effort has been aimed at the systematic destruction of the economy, while building up his unionized government worker army, reminiscent of the national-socialist party in 1930’s germany, while his whole rhetoric claims republicans are working against him, well it seems to me if we still had a two party system, that would be the way it’d work.as if this was business as usual, this now is beginning to take on the dynamics of 1958-1960 cuba, in 1960, castro declared himself a marxist-lenninist,maybe if obama declared himself a marxist-jihadi, what would krauthammer’s justification for hussein-obama’s action be ?

  • All the ruthless skill in the world without the forceful, loud, incessant, tireless media blabbing 24-7 lies and skullduggery would result in little damage to earnest honest representatives. The last three words are the problem.

The Repub party deserves whatever ill comes after its treatment of Ron Paul.

    I say good riddance.

First hand experience as an Exec Board member of Clark Co, NV Repub party (70% of NV)

The young, fresh talent that swept in with the RP Rev was/is treated very disrespectfully.

Would have thought a plague had come.

One of the old fart NeoCons resigned his position and asked for dues money to be returned (all of $400 … lol)

Methinks Dr. Krauthammer still gives Obama the benefit of the doubt, that he, as President of the USA, actually cares about this nation or its citizenry. It should be obvious Obama doesn’t care a nickel’s worth for either. His goal, as was Saul Alinski’s, is to ruin this nation. While he was handed another four years to gain his objective, why not start immediately? He’s having a ball, playing cat & mouse.
