Buzz of Israel prepping for Iran attack just a smoke screen?

NEW YORK – The media buzz claiming Israel is preparing an attack on Iran’s suspected nuclear installations has reached a fevered pitch. My information, however, indicates the Jewish state is prepping for a different war, an international effort that could potentially escalate into a direct confrontation with Iran.

If Israel were indeed on the brink of launching air raids on the mullahs, it would not first hold such a public discussion on the matter or leak to the news media the debate about the subject from within Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet.

The visible Israeli military preparations, including this week’s missile tests, most likely are related to the strong possibility of a U.S.-NATO-led campaign against Israel’s Syrian neighbor to the north. The regime of Syria’s Bashar al-Assad – a key partner to Iran – has been accused of major human rights violations, including “crimes against humanity,” in clamping down on a violent insurgency targeting Assad’s rule. That uprising is in large part led by Muslim Brotherhood-oriented militants, some reportedly armed by Turkey.

The same “Responsibility to Protect” global doctrine used to justify the U.S.-NATO airstrikes in Libya could be applied to Assad. Responsibility to Protect, or Responsibility to Act, as cited by President Obama, is a set of principles, now backed by the United Nations, based on the idea that sovereignty is not a privilege but a responsibility that can be revoked if a country is accused of “war crimes,” “genocide,” “crimes against humanity” or “ethnic cleansing.”

Mass demonstrations were held last week in Syrian insurgent strongholds calling for the international coalition in Libya to deploy in Syria. Damascus officials claimed to me that NATO troops are currently training in Turkey for a Turkish-led NATO invasion of Syria. Separately, informed Middle East security officials said Iran has been inspecting Syrian forces and has been advising Syria about possible Syrian military responses should NATO attack Assad’s regime.

Obama’s TSA Ignored Cancer Risks from TSA Scanners

Last year, this author reported that the TSA had minimized the risk new X-ray scanners posed to travelers. Today, ProPublica has an in-depth article detailing precisely how the government, in a fit of crony capitalism, ran roughshod over public health concerns to place the invasive technology in 250 airports – and cause an estimated six to 100 cases of cancer in travelers each year.

It begins by noting the deception involved in a September 23, 1998, meeting in Maryland to evaluate the Rapiscan Secure 1000 — the “porn scanners” now ubiquitous in American airports manned by the fearless functionaries of the TSA. At the time, there were only 20 such machines in the nation. Its inventor, Steven W. Smith, assured panelists, “I would be extremely surprised in the next five to 10 years if the Secure 1000 is sold” to or used in “lower-security facilities, particularly power plants, embassies, courthouses, airports and governments.” Despite reticence about exposing anyone to ionizing radiation for non-medical reasons, the panel, properly assured, gave its approval. Today, 250 such machines create high-quality naked photos of everyone from newborns to the elderly in airports throughout the Land of the Free.

The TSA began deploying the backscatter technology in 2007, under the Bush administration. But the Obama administration has spent hundreds of millions of dollars purchasing hundreds more.

The scanners were deployed on a mass scale thanks to the Left’s favorite bogeymen: lack of regulatory oversight and crony capitalism.

The only machine used by the TSA is manufactured by Rapiscan. Seeing the incoming Obama administration, the corporation jacked up its lobbying budget from $130,000 in 2006 to nearly $420,000 in 2008 in anticipation of massive government contracts. It steered funds to Democratic Congressmen Bennie Thompson and Jane Harman, both on the House Homeland Security Committee. When the time came, Rapiscan was poised to reap the benefits.

Video: Obama Undermines His Own Call for Common Ground

In his speech at Notre Dame, President Obama called for an unprecedented common ground for those with differing beliefs, but his actions have undermined that hopeful sentiment. Now a Catholic organization is asking why in this new TV ad.

Occupy the EPA, Not Wall Street

Why We Should Occupy the EPA

We are not in good shape. Economic growth has stagnated. Unemployment is at an unacceptable rate. Debt is wreaking havoc on economic stability.

Although every possible scapegoat has been indicted for our current economic catastrophe — China, “the rich,” corporations in general, the Tea Party, Occupy Wall Street, the list could go on — there are clear, tangible reasons to focus on one regulatory body alone: the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

What the president and his administration do not seem to understand is that the last thing we need is more hands-on; we need some hands-off.

Just the fact that a “jobs bill” was up for consideration indicates that continuing or increasing regulations from the EPA on some of the most vital, productive sectors of our economy will plunge us disastrously further into recession and unemployment. And more importantly, threatening reliable and affordable electricity will further inhibit long-term economic development.

Despite continuous improvement in air quality, in 2010 the EPA embarked on the greatest expansion of regulatory authority the country has ever seen, cutting what will add up to millions of jobs over the next decade.

The high-tech lynching of Herman Cain

Herman Cain, as a conservative black man, faces unprecedented bigotry from a liberal media that constantly applauds itself for enlightened attitudes.

One of the ugliest of racial stereotypes is that black men have large and uncontrollable sexual impulses. Many a hanging tree across America silently testifies to the unproven allegations that a black man made unwanted advances to a local white girl. Alleged rape or unwanted sexual contact was a constantly used tool by Southern elites to unburden their communities of black men they didn’t like or feared.

Now, the liberal elite in the media have decided the Cain Train has gotten too long. They fear that the plainspoken business executive with a genuine American success story to tell threatens their power. They fear Herman Cain, so they are launching a high-tech, Internet-based lynching.

The goal is to embarrass Herman Cain, yes, but even more importantly, their goal is to create fear in the hearts of women. Politico, the publication that published its unfounded story should be ashamed. The story alleges that two unnamed women were paid off to keep silent about sexual advances made by Cain some 20 years ago. Despicable journalism, no documents presented, no firsthand testimony, just unnamed sources offering disgusting vile allegations.

We have been doing research of our own, and here is what a woman who has worked with Herman Cain for the last 12 years, and will go on the record, says: “I’ve been around Herman now for 12 years, and he has never done or said anything inappropriate around me or any other female I know, so … I think he may have run into a couple of gold diggers.”
