John King explains why Romney hopes Newt stays in

There seems to be some disagreement over whether or not a Newt Gingrich exodus would help Rick Santorum. On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” this morning, Mark Haperin argued Gingrich remaining in the race might actually serve to deprive Mitt Romney from winning the nomination. But last night, CNN’s John King (video here) demonstrated why the best way to stop Mitt Romney is for Gingrich to exit the race. (This is essentially because Gingrich’s presence deprives Santorum from gaining the delegates he needs to make up the difference)

Using CNN’s map, King gamed out a few scenarios (all of which included hypothetical situations which are generous to Rick Santorum).

Here’s what it would look like if Santorum continues to do well, but if Gingrich remained in the race:

As you can see, in this scenario, Romney actually garners the 1,144 delegates needed to win the nomination. Next, King proposed a “dream” scenario, where Gingrich stays in the race, but Santorum dominates the rest of the primary contests:

This scenario is arguably the least likely to occur. It does deprive Romney of the nomination, however, it puts him within striking distance. He would need to wrangle less than 100 delegates to be the nominee.

U.S. dangles secret data for Russia missile shield approval

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Obama administration is leaving open the possibility of giving Moscow certain secret data on U.S. interceptor missiles due to help protect Europe from any Iranian missile strike.

A deal is being sought by Washington that could include classified data exchange because it is in the U.S. interest to enlist Russia and its radar stations in the missile-defense effort, a Pentagon spokeswoman said Tuesday in written replies to Reuters.

No decision has been made yet on whether the United States would offer data about the interceptors’ “velocity at burnout,” or VBO, said Air Force Lieutenant Colonel April Cunningham, the spokeswoman, but it is not being ruled out.

VBO is at the heart of what Russia wants as the price for its cooperation, said Riki Ellison, head of the private Missile Defense Advocacy Alliance, who has close ties to missile defense and military officials.

VBO tells how fast an interceptor is going when its rocket-booster motor fuel is spent and the motor burns out.

With Friends Like These… Union Names Chinese Premier ‘Best Friend of American Worker’

At the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s regular press conference last week, spokesperson Liu Weimin’s revealed that Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao was awarded ”the Best Friend of American Worker” by the US International Longshoremen’s Association. The Chinese ambassador to the United States reportedly received the award on his behalf. Liu explained:

It is learned that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the cooperation between China Cosco Group and the US port of Boston. The past decade has witnessed sound cooperation between the two sides, which sustains and creates a large amount of job opportunities for Boston. It reflects the mutually beneficial nature of China-US economic cooperation and trade. The award presented by the US International Longshoremen’s Association to Premier Wen Jiabao is to thank the Chinese Government for its efforts to encourage Chinese enterprises’ investment in the US and to promote bilateral economic cooperation and trade. This gratitude is sincere and heartfelt. Premier Wen Jiabao visited the Port of Boston during his visit to the US in 2003.

The International Longshoremen’s Association, an AFL-CIO affiliate, has not publicized the award. It is not mentioned on the ILA website, nor has it been reported in the American main-stream press. The Longshoremen did not return a request for comment.

The Chinese-government-backed China Daily, however, in an anti-GOP article, reported on the award and recognized the diplomatic relationship between the union and the Chinese government:

When Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney attacked China’s trade practices recently, he probably didn’t expect that the Chinese premier he met in 2003 – when Romney praised trade between the two countries – would later be granted the “Best Friend of American Worker” award.

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao was given the award on Friday in Boston by the International Longshoremen’s Association in appreciation of China’s strong support of job growth for US workers. …

ILA Vice-President William McNamara said that his association was honored to give Wen the award and thanked China for its great contributions in creating more job opportunities for US workers. …

Santorum lands Southern primary wins in Mississippi, Alabama

Rick Santorum ensured that the Republican nominating battle will drag on, possibly into the spring and beyond, after pulling off a pair of victories in the Deep South on Tuesday — as the presidential primary race passes the midway mark.

The former Pennsylvania senator edged out his opponents in both Mississippi and Alabama, allowing him to build the case that he is the “conservative” alternative to Mitt Romney over Newt Gingrich.

But even with two surprise wins, Santorum didn’t walk away with a surge in delegates. As of Wednesday morning, Romney had 495 delegates to Santorum’s 252. That’s up from 454 and 217 before Tuesday’s votes. Gingrich now stands with 131 delegates and Ron Paul with 48.

Romney did not go home empty handed because the states divide their delegates proportionally and he clinched a victory in the Hawaii caucuses by a wide margin. He took home 45 percent of the vote 52 percent of that state’s delegates while Santorum trailed with 25 percent of the vote and 23 percent of the delegates.

Romney also won the small Republican caucus in American Samoa. He picked up all nine delegates in the contest in the U.S. territory located 2,300 miles south of Hawaii.

Jeremiah Wright on Derrick Bell, Jesus, And The Jews: A Sermon Obama Could Not Have Missed

Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama’s incendiary Chicago pastor, admired radical Harvard Law School professor Derrick Bell, inviting him to speak at Trinity United Church of Christ and referring to him from the pulpit.

In one sermon, which Wright published in 1995 in a collection entitled Africans Who Shaped Our Faith: A Study of 10 Biblical Personalities, Wright referred specifically to Bell’s protest against Harvard–the same protest that Obama supported in a video released by Breitbart.com last week.

The sermon repeats the main doctrine of Bell’s Critical Race Theory–that the United States was founded on racism, and that America remains irredeemably racist. Wright also attacked “Jewish lawyers,” comparing the Jews of Jesus’s time to “Klansmen” and describing Jesus as a racial provocateur:

Jesus is a perfect model for the best type of faith. Jesus had a faith that did not avoid the realities of race. Modern reasoning tries to avoid the issue of race and pretend that race doesn’t really matter.

That is a lie. Race does matter. Race is a reality that one cannot ignore. America was founded on racism. America lives and breathers racism. In this country, racism is as natural as motherhood, apple pie and the fourth of July….

What this country is is about racism from day one. The moment you take your first breath as a black person in this country, you have four strikes against you. You cannot ignore race.

The GAYstapo Wants To Have Christians Arrested

A recent article in the UK’s Christian Institute quoted pop star Will Young, a member of the new Gaystapo, as he referred to clergymen who referenced homosexual unions, which they are trying to get everyone to say they are “gay marriage” (which this writer will not do), as “abhorrent”. Mr. Young didn’t stop there though. He continued expressing the desire to have those who see the new Gaystapo and their unions as abhorrent as those who should be prosecuted for hate crimes. He certainly wouldn’t like what I call it: sodomy, homosexualality, debauchery, unnatural, depraved, perverse, evil, disgusting, wretched and a host of other terms to describe the Gaystapo perverts.

Somehow Mr. Young thinks it’s ok to call people with convictions other than his own criminals and hatemongers that should be in jail, but when they disagree with his position he cries “foul” like a little child kicking and screaming that they are intolerant. See the utter intolerance of the tolerance movement?

These statements appeared live on BBC1′s Question Time.

I like to identify people like Mr. Young as the new Gaystapo, or among the militant sodomites who are showing themselves for who they truly are. They are those who claim to love and be tolerant, yet they are the very epitome of hate and intolerance. They want to silence anyone who would call their perverse behavior….well, perverse!

They would just a soon see Bible believing Christians in prison and if they had their way executed. They only speak of love in terms of sex. While there probably are some homosexuals who do care for their partners, it is then betrayed by the fact that they engage them romantically and sexually, thus showing a hatred of them.

HBO’s ‘Game Change’ promoted by same PR firm that represents Sandra Fluke

Last week Fox News host Bill O’Reilly revealed that Georgetown Law student and contraception advocate Sandra Fluke, perhaps known for her ill-advised portrayal by conservative talker Rush Limbaugh, had secured the services of SKDKnickerbocker, a public relations firm with offices in Albany, N.Y., New York City and Washington, D.C.

The public relations firm has close ties to President Obama, with one of its managing directors being former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn. But Fluke isn’t the only high-profile client the firm has represented in recent days.

As first reported by Betsy Rothstein of FishbowlDC, SKDKnickerbocker was involved with the initial rollout of the HBO film “Game Change,” a film which has been criticized by many on the right for its negative portrayal of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Emily Lenzner, also one of the firm’s managing directors, confirmed its involvement with “Game Change” to The Daily Caller. She said her firm worked with HBO to put on Thursday night’s Washington, D.C. premiere at the Newseum, which was attended by various influential members of the media.

“We were working with HBO, specifically by managing the red carpet and the press attendance at the screening last Thursday,” Lenzner said.

Editorial: Germany proposes a Drudge Tax

European politicians are on the hunt for new sources of revenue as the continent’s fiscal situation worsens. The level of desperation is clear in the latest move from German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s coalition government to tap into the cash reserves of Internet search engine giant Google to bolster that country’s ailing publishing industry.

The second item on the coalition’s list of priorities released last week was a proposal to slap online news aggregators with a tax. “Online commercial vendors, such as search engines and news aggregators, should in the future pay a fee to publishers for the distribution of press products (such as news articles) on the Internet,” the document explains. Any business that links to a news article with a brief excerpt is subject to the scheme.

This action has far more to do with protectionism than protecting intellectual property rights. Websites such as the indispensable Drudge Report, Times 24/7, Real Clear Politics, Digg, Fark and Reddit collect news from sources spread across the Web. These sites are wildly popular because they draw the important stories together in one convenient place, fulfilling a very specific need among a news-hungry public.

Far from leeching off newspapers and print journalists, aggregators are essential to spreading the word about important stories. They drive significant traffic, which in turn generates revenue for content providers. It’s a win for both sides. For publishers that disagree, Google already includes a simple mechanism for websites to exclude themselves from search results. If the purported theft of content were truly the issue, that would end the discussion.

That it doesn’t shows this tax is not a matter of principle, but of old-fashioned crony capitalism. The new economy will be used to bail out the old economy simply because the new economy’s lobbyists aren’t as well-connected.
