Media Bias on Steroids: Compare Treatment of Cindy Sheehan to Fallen SEAL’s Father

[If fallen Benghazi SEAL’s father Charles Woods] had been Cindy Sheehan, whose soldier son was killed in Iraq, his publicly confronting the president would be considered a patriotic act.

As it was when she became the media’s — and Democratic Party’s — darling for her public rants against then-President George W. Bush.

“Cindy Sheehan is single-handedly bringing the Iraq debate to Mr. Bush’s doorstep,” hailed NBC back in 2005.

She was a sad, unstable, clearly tortured woman, but she was a handy cudgel and the media exploited her shamelessly.

Charles Woods, on the other hand, has been all but ignored. Consider:

•On “Meet the Press,” GOP panelist Carly Fiorina brought up Benghazi, only to be cut off by moderator David Gregory, who promised to “get to that a little later.” He never did.

•Newt Gingrich raised Benghazi on “This Week.” Moderator George Stephanopoulos changed the subject.

•On CNN’s “State of the Union” (with presidential debate “moderator” Candy Crowley), two GOP officials tried to raise Benghazi — but Crowley sloughed the issue off.

Gene Hackman Slaps Homeless Man in New Mexico

Photo credit: trisherovertonOscar winner Gene Hackman admitted to slapping a homeless man across the face Tuesday afternoon, saying the guy approached him and his wife, Betsy, in a menacing manner and called Betsy a derogatory name, Santa Fe, N.M., police confirm to E! News.

Sgt. Andrea Dobyns told E! that the man on the receiving end of the slap called authorities at around 1:30 p.m. to report that he had been beaten up by Hackman.

Officers who responded were able to talk to both the caller and Hackman, who was still in the area after eating at a nearby restaurant.

The “Unforgiven” star told police that the man approached him and Betsy in a very aggressive manner, called his wife a nasty name and otherwise made them fear for their safety.

The man got into his face, according to Hackman, and he hit him, “more like a slap than a punch,” Dobyns said.

Hurricane Sandy: Over $20 Billion in Damages, Longest Weather-Related Stock Market Shutdown Since 1888

Photo credit: Paul LowryHurricane Sandy’s economic toll is poised to exceed $20 billion after the biggest Atlantic storm slammed into the Eastern U.S., damaging homes and offices and flooding subways in America’s most populated city.

The total would include insured losses of about $7 billion to $8 billion, said Charles Watson, research and development director at Kinetic Analysis Corp., a hazard-research company in Silver Spring, Maryland. Much of the remaining tab will be picked up by cities and states to repair infrastructure, such as New York City’s subways and tunnels, he said.

“It is really hard to tell at this stage since the system is still moving, but it will be among the 10 to 15 most damaging storms and probably the top three in the Northeast after Irene and Agnes from 1972,” Bill Keogh, president of Eqecat Inc., an Oakland, California-based provider of catastrophic risk models, said in an interview on Bloomberg Television.

Sandy, spanning 900 miles, slammed into southern New Jersey at about 8 p.m. local time and brought a record storm surge of 13.88 feet (4.2 meters) into Manhattan’s Battery Park. Flooding, high winds and fallen trees cut power to about 8 million customers from South Carolina to Maine, and travelers were stranded as U.S. airlines grounded more than 16,000 flights. U.S. stock trading is closed again today in the first back-to- back shutdown for weather since 1888.

New York City committed $29.2 million to emergency contractors and the costs related to Sandy will probably reach “the tens of millions of dollars,” City Comptroller John Liu said. The city “will easily be able to absorb the actual cost of the clean out” and state or federal agencies will help cover the expenses, he said.

Video: Obama to Red Cross Just Weeks After Benghazi – “We Leave Nobody Behind”

Even though he claimed not to be campaigning today, Obama spoke to the press at the Red Cross from behind a presidential podium with a White House seal. He was there to sympathize, because “this is a tough time for a lot of people, millions of folk all across the eastern seaboard.”

Then he slipped into the same disingenuous claptrap that has marked most of his presidency and campaign: “But America’s tougher because we pull together, we leave nobody behind.”

We cannot conceive of how he could make such a statement in good faith, given how intense the current conservative media coverage has been of how he did exactly the opposite in Benghazi.

Unlike the America he described at the Red Cross, Obama abandoned our fellow citizens at the US consulate. And he’s been lying about it ever since.

He then closes with another zinger: “Whenever an American is in need, we’re providing the help that is necessary.”

Not hardly, Mr. President.

Sources: Recordings of Benghazi Defenders “Begging for Help” are “Damning” But Obama Still Says He’s Offended (+videos)

On Fox this evening, Hannity discusses the Benghazi cover up with left-leaning Juan Williams. Hannity debates whether or not Obama should release the audio recordings relating to the attack and the defenders like Ty Woods who came to the consulate’s aid.

Hannity said about the tapes, “My sources say they’re pretty damning, they’re begging for help.” Juan Williams responds that he had not heard that from anyone. Hannity retorts, “You learn it here first”:

In a subsequent interview with former Senator Fred Thompson, Hannity plays a clip of Obama saying that he “takes offense” at people saying that his administration hasn’t been forthcoming with what really happened in Benghazi:

Facebook Censors Special Ops PAC to Help Obama (+video)

By AWR Hawkins. Over the weekend, Facebook took down a message by the Special Operations Speaks PAC (SOS) which highlighted the fact that Obama denied backup to the forces being overrun in Benghazi.

The message was contained in a meme which demonstrated how Obama had relied on the SEALS when he was ready to let them get Osama bin Laden, and how he had turned around and denied them when they called for backup on Sept 11.

I spoke with Larry Ward, president of Political Media, Inc — the media company that handles SOS postings and media production. Ward was the one who personally put the Navy SEAL meme up, and the one who received the warning from Facebook and an eventual 24 hour suspension from Facebook because Ward put the meme back up after Facebook told him to take it down. Former Miss Teen Alaska Perishes on HMS Bounty in Hurricane Sandy (+video)

By Thom Patterson. Claudene Christian dreamed of living a seafaring life like the historic HMS Bounty naval officer who shared her name centuries ago.

She’d secured a spot as a crew member on a replica of the Bounty and had announced it proudly on her Facebook page. But less than six months after joining the ship, her dream was cut short.

As Hurricane Sandy approached the East Coast, its powerful winds swirled up waves that crippled the three-masted, 180-foot Bounty off North Carolina’s coast, forcing the 16-member crew to abandon ship.

That’s when the waves swept Christian overboard, along with the Bounty’s captain and another crew member early Monday, Coast Guard Vice Adm. Robert Parker told CNN. That crew member made it to a lifeboat; Christian’s body was found on Monday evening. Capt. Robin Waldridge remains missing.

Christian, 42, often said she was related to Fletcher Christian, the 18th-century sailor blamed for leading the infamous mutiny on the real HMS Bounty. Read more from this story HERE.

More on Former Alaskan Who Died Alongside the HMS Bounty Captain

By Matt Blake and Anthony Bond. Ms Christian’s mother, who is also called Claudene, said the ship began taking on water after a generator went out on the ship on Sunday night.

It was around 160 miles from the eye of the storm as it made its way from Connecticut to Florida.

Her mother said she was contacted by her daughter on Thursday when she said she wouldn’t be able to contact them from the sea, according to 5newsonline.

Ms Christian was a former Miss Teen Alaska and attended the University of Southern Carolina.

Her aunt, Patricia Saulsberry, said that she had been interested in ships since she toured replicas of Nina and Pinta. Read more from this story HERE.

Crazy Things That Obama Supporters Are Threatening To Do If Romney Wins

Will cities all over America erupt in violence if Mitt Romney wins the election? Right now we are probably witnessing the most divisive campaign in modern U.S. history, and both sides truly hate one another. Even CNN is running articles about how polarized politics in America has become and how vicious both sides can be.

There is a lot of anger and frustration out there that has been bottled up for a long time, and this election could end up being a trigger event that releases a lot of it. Both sides are entirely convinced that they can win this tightly contested election, and one side is going to feel bitterly disappointed when it does not happen.

Both sides are talking as if it is going to be “the end of America” or “the end of the world” if they lose this election. This is particularly true when it comes to Obama supporters. On social networking sites such as Twitter, many of them have actually been proclaiming that Mitt Romney wants to “exterminate black people” and many of them have been openly threatening to harm him if he does win the election.

This is a very dangerous sign, and these threats should be taken very seriously. Of course a lot of Romney supporters are also likely to go absolutely insane if Obama ends up winning. In fact, one Romney supporter [may have] put a bullet through the window of an Obama campaign office in Denver the other day. But when it comes to threatening to do crazy things if the election does not go their way, Obama supporters definitely take the cake.

On Eve of Nov. 5 Fossil Fuels Debate, Penn State Global Warming Prof Outed for Falsely Claiming to be Nobel Recipient

Just days before the McKibben vs Epstein environmental debate, November 5, at Duke University, a bombshell rocked the environmental community. Read more: “Michael Mann Retracts False Nobel Prize Claims in Humiliating Climbdown.”

The Nobel Prize committee declared Penn State’s Professor, Michael Mann, has falsely claimed to be a recipient of the Nobel Prize; He never received an award from them. Both he and Penn State have been claiming for years his Nobel status to boost his scientific prestige and credibility.

To Mann, the litigious creator of the climate “Hockey Stick” graph, this is an extreme blow to any scientific credibility he may have had. The “hockey stick graph” was used by Al Gore and others to convince us we were on the verge of climate catastrophe, One critic stated: “Michael Mann is another black mark against anyone involved in “climate science.”

Penn State, still reeling from a sex scandal that threatened its accreditation, suffers another huge blow to its reputation. But the taint of Penn States scandal will now waft over the environmental movement, which has used Manns science to further its war against fossil fuels. This latest scandal throws into question the validity of the science behind the “climate change” movement.

There is a huge, well funded, well coordinated movement throughout the United States, set on the goal of completely killing our use of fossil energy. One of the main public spokesman and virulent foes of fossil energy is Bill McKibben. McKibben recently stated fossil fuel is public enemy #1 and has vowed to destroy our fossil based energy industry, source of 85% of our power.

But the fossil energy industry is not without its defenders and Alex Epstein has stepped up to the plate to defend it. He has challenged Bill McKibben to a one on one debate at Duke University November 5, where they can slug it out in the intellectual arena of ideas.

Epstein is president of the Center for Industrial Progress, a think tank that proactively champions the use of fossil energy, using real science to bolster its pro energy argument and history as a guidepost to the beneficial use of fossil fuels for mankind…Epstein is a formidable spokesman to stand toe to toe with one of the lefts most high profile foes of fossil energy.

McKibben is recognized as one of the key people influencing President Obamas decision to delay the building of the Keystone Pipeline. When he publicly states he wants to make the use of fossil fuels illegal, it is a reflection of an overall strategy to fundamentally transform our society.

In a Bill McKibben world, our energy would be supplied mainly by windmills and solar. Historically and at present technological levels, these forms of energy could not put a dent in the energy needs of our advanced society. This means civilization would have to become more primitive and a large segment of our population would revert to manual labor focused on farming.

Alex Epstein totally disagrees with this vision and had a message for McKibben and the rest of those who are out to destroy the use of fossil fuel. “The idea that fossil fuels are destroying the planet, is contrary to all evidence. All of the evidence we have is that by producing abundant affordable energy, fossil fuels have made our climate 50 times safer over the past 80 years.” ” And just on a common sense level you’d much rather be alive today, whatever happens in the climate or the weather, than you would a hundred years ago….The last time we had Bill McKibbens desired C02 emissions.”

The fossil fuel industry is highly adaptive and at the cutting edge of new technological breakthroughs that make it more efficient and cleaner. The 3 fields of energy that produce power serving billions of people; nuclear, fossil and hydro electric, are incredibly advanced, making them the progressive energy of the present and future. Windmills (technology from hundeds of years ago) and solar cannot even begin to serve the energy needs of the world and replace fossil based (carbon) energy.

The militancy of the war on fossil energy, brings a huge price tag with it. Already there are job losses in coal which is under a huge assault. Gasoline is double the price it was 4 years ago and utility rates will skyrocket as rate payers are forced to pay the subsidies given to “green energy,” which McKibben and his allies want to force on society.

Epstein says: “The last thing true scientifically is, we need to destroy our energy supply. That is the least scientific statement a human could make and is the most suicidal statement a human could make.” “Bill McKibben and his movement are free to make us an offer in the free market of ideas…. let them convince us. But they don’t have the right to force us, or give us an order.”

I asked Epstein what he hopes to accomplish in this debate: “I want people to have an appreciation and gratitude for the fact that everything they love in their lives depends on abundant, affordable energy. Their ability to get that in the future and the ability of billions of others to get it in the future, depends on the freedom to use fossil fuels, as well as other practical sources of energy. But this ability is really under attack by Bill McKibben and others who think going forward we should not use fossil fuels.”

This debate is a rare opportunity for the public to witness the clash of powerful ideas that are being used to re-shape our civilization. With professor Manns loss of stature in the scientific community, the climate change movement has a lot to answer for and we will expect answers November 5.
