Obama Declares Victory: Nation has Turned “Corner on Health Care – and We’re Never Going Back”

In a fundraising email sent on behalf of his political committee, Organizing for Action, President Obama declares victory, suggesting that the nation’s healthcare problems have miraculously come to an end . . . effective January 1, 2014.

After lying to the public that Obamacare would allow Americans to keep their doctors and health coverage if they liked it, he now expects us to believe

From here on, no American should have to go broke just because they get sick. You can’t be dropped from your plan when you need it most. Pre-existing conditions will never prevent someone from getting coverage, and women can’t be charged more than men for their plans.

Turning a blind eye to the millions of Americans who have already lost their plans and doctors due to the Obamacare fiasco, the President claims that “for millions of Americans, affordable, quality coverage is finally within reach.” Of course, he doesn’t explain why these “millions” haven’t all jumped at the opportunity to be covered by Obamacare.

But Obama expects his equally blind supporters to help in his fundamental transformation of America. He explains

Fundamental change like this doesn’t happen just because people believe it’s the right thing to do. It happens because people like you . . . fight for it — no matter how hard it gets.

Let’s hope and pray – whoever these supporters are – that they wizen up quickly to this “fundamental change,” recognizing that they are the suckers in the statists’ scheme to create more dependency and government control.

And let’s hope the GOP aggressively pushes back, repealing Obamacare and replacing it with market-based solutions that put the consumer back in the driver’s seat, pushing costs down and quality of care up.

MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry apologized in a series of tweets Tuesday morning for using Mitt Romney’s black adopted grandchild in a comedy segment over the weekend.

“I am sorry. Without reservation or qualification. I apologize to the Romney family,” the apology started. “I work by guiding principle that those who offend do not have the right to tell those they hurt that they (are) wrong for hurting. Therefore, while I meant no offense, I want to immediately apologize to the Romney family for hurting them.”

Each tweet of the apology came with the hashtag #MHPApology.

“As (a) black child born into large white Mormon family I feel familiarity w/ Romney family (picture) & never meant to suggest otherwise,” she continued. “I apologize to all families built on loving transracial adoptions who feel I degraded their lives or choices.”

MSNBC uses Romney grandson in comedy segment

On Sunday, MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry hosted a look back at 2013 through the lens of laughter, complete with a panel of comedians. The hour included a section on the most talked-about photos of the year, such as the Barack Obama selfie at the Nelson Mandela memorial. But toward the end of the segment, Harris-Perry pulled up a Romney family photo that included their recently adopted grandson Kieran Romney, who is black.

“A lot of people had emotions about this baby picture this year,” Harris-Perry said.

One of the panelists, actress Pia Glenn, started singing “one of these things is not like the others,” while Harris-Perry laughed.

“And that little baby, front and center, would be the one,” Glenn said.

Federal Judges Running Amok: Florida’s Welfare Drug Testing Nixed, New York’s Gun Restrictions Upheld

mmw_drugtest_022511Florida’s Welfare Drug Testing Nixed

By Associated Press. A federal judge on Tuesday struck down a Florida law requiring applicants for welfare benefits to undergo mandatory drug testing, ruling it was unconstitutional and shouldn’t be enforced.

U.S. District Judge Mary Scriven’s 30-page order made permanent an earlier, temporary ban on the law by the judge.

Gov. Rick Scott had backed the drug testing of prospective welfare recipients, arguing it helped protect taxpayers and families. He said in a statement Tuesday that his administration would appeal the decision to the U.S. Court of Appeals.

“Any illegal drug use in a family is harmful and even abusive to a child,” Scott said…

Federal Judge Upholds NY Gun Restrictions

By Christopher Bedford. A federal judge in Buffalo, N.Y. upheld most of New York’s new gun laws Tuesday, rejecting a challenge that the tight restrictions violated the Second Amendment.

Judge William M. Skretny’s ruling upheld recent laws restricting high-capacity magazines and “assault weapons,” but struck down a seven-round limit for loaded guns, calling that restriction “arbitrary,” as well as “tenuous, strained and unsupported.”

General Calls for Citizen Arrest of Obama and Congressional Leaders

In 1775, an American people preparing to fight for their freedom turned to a retired military officer to lead them.

For more than 15 years, Col. George Washington had been retired to farm the Virginia countryside, until Boston patriots waged their famous tea party and the Battles of Lexington and Concord erupted. Washington, the former fighter of the French and Indian War, determined he could remain on the sidelines no longer.

When Col. Washington (ret.) showed up shortly thereafter at the Second Continental Congress in his dusted-off uniform, the spirit of the American Revolution had at last found a man it could follow.

Today, as the tea party rages again in cities across the U.S., a retired American military commander is drawing attention to a new crop of George Washingtons already leading the charge for freedom.

As WND reported, Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely declared it’s time for millions of Americans to “stand up” to a federal government that is “conducting treason … violating the Constitution, violating our laws.” He’s calling for marches, a legislative vote of “no confidence” in President Obama and congressional leaders, even citizen arrests – drawing inspiration from the 33 million Egyptians who stood up to their government and removed Muslim Brotherhood officials from office.

After a year of seeing President Obama’s approval ratings plummet, the president’s pollster is offering a strikingly candid and pessimistic New Year’s resolution.

Reporters should go the next “year without reporting any public polling data,” Joel Benenson, president and CEO of Benenson Strategy Group, said.

His comments were made to reporter Mike Allen, who published them in his daily “Politico Playbook” morning newsletter on Tuesday.

Benenson explained that he thinks the polling often reported by news organizations lacks the proper context.

Activists Protest: Rose Parade Homosexual Marriage Float Degrades Family Event

Two homosexual men will be married on a float in the 2014 Rose Parade on Wednesday, Jan. 1, in what critics are saying transforms the family-friendly event into a vehicle for promoting the gay rights activists’ political agenda.

Aubrey Loots and Danny Leclair were chosen by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation by lottery to be married atop a float made to resemble a wedding cake.

“The decision to allow two gay couples to ‘marry’ on a float during the Rose Parade denigrates this once family-friendly event,” said Brian Brown, president of the National Organization of Marriage. “It’s another ‘in your face’ example that should serve as a teachable moment for the American people.”

“Once marriage is redefined to make it genderless, this perverse construct of ‘marriage’ is forced on everyone,” Brown said.

The Pasadena Star-News reported on Thursday that San Diego, Calif. , resident Karen Grube started a Facebook page protesting the same-sex wedding.

From London to Dubai and from Tokyo to Times Square, millions around the world welcomed 2014 on Tuesday with fireworks, dancing and all-night revelry.

A sea of horn-tooting, hat-wearing revelers cheered and some even smooched as the famed crystal ball dropped in freezing New York City’s Times Square to ring in 2014. Bronx-born U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor led the 60-second countdown and pushed the button that unleashed the shimmering orb with 2,688 crystals, a role usually filled by the New York City mayor. Mayor Michael Bloomberg, on his last day in office, sat out the celebration after 12 years on the job, while newly elected Mayor Bill de Blasio took the oath of office just after midnight at his Brooklyn home.

Kerrie McConaghy, 20, a university student visiting Times Square from Armagh, Ireland, was dancing and jumping up and down, donning a big blue top hat.

“It’s unbelievable here,” she said. “The lights, seeing the ball, hearing the music, all the people. It’s amazing.”

“TV doesn’t do this justice,” she said. “You have to be here to believe it.”

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit on Monday, seeking to force the U.S. government to disclose details of its foreign electronic surveillance program and what protections it provides to Americans whose communications are swept up.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, came three days after the ACLU lost a bid to block a separate program that collects the phone calls of millions of Americans.

The latest lawsuit seeks information related to the use of Executive Order 12333, which was signed in 1981 and governs surveillance of foreign targets.

Under the order, the National Security Administration is collecting “vast quantities” of data globally under the order’s authority, “inevitably” including communications of U.S. citizens, the lawsuit said.

Franklin Graham: Homosexuality is ‘A Sin,’ and ‘I Want to Warn People’ (+video)

In a Meet the Press interview Sunday, Franklin Graham, the son of famed preacher Billy Graham, refused to back down from his Biblical stance against homosexuality. “It’s sin,” he said, and added that he wanted to warn people about it because they will have to stand before God who will judge.

The younger Graham was speaking in the NBC interview about his father’s legacy, as the elder Graham, 95, is ‘very weak’ and eating little. He described how he helped to arrange a final sermon for his father that aired in November. He felt it was God’s will that he help his father “finish well.”

In the context of about Pope Francis’ “who am I to judge” comment, Franklin Graham was asked if he would shift his position on “gays.”

“God would have to shift, and God doesn’t,” Graham replied. “God’s word is the same yesterday and today and a million years from now, that it’s sin.”

Vladimir Putin has vowed to pursue terrorists to their “total annihilation”, in his first public comments since the Volgograd suicide bombings.

In his traditional New Year’s Eve address, which was broadcast at midnight from the Far Eastern city of Khabarovsk, (5pm in Moscow), he praised Russia’s unity in the face of both terrorism and natural disasters and promised to continue an unrelenting fight against the bombers.

“In the past year we have faced problems and serious challenges including the inhuman terror attacks in Volgograd and unprecedented disasters in the Far East,” he said.

“Dear friends, we bow our heads in memory of the victims of these terrible attacks. We will strongly and decisively continue the battle against terrorists until their total annihilation,” he said.

Mr Putin earlier provoked a storm of condemnation on the Russian internet on Sunday after the message broadcast an hour earlier in Kamchatka, Russia’s most easterly timezone, made no mention of the attacks.
