It is Time to Remove the Persian Mask

Photo Credit: Jeanne Menjoulet & Cie / Creative Commons Iran is a threat to the United States, not just her allies abroad. After the Islamic Revolution of 1979, one of the first things the new Iranian government did was seize the American Embassy, taking 52 of our embassy officials hostage and holding them for 444 days. This is commemorated every year on November 4th, by the annual “Death to America Day,” replete with chanting and burning of the America flag. It is Iran that bombed our Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon in 1983, killing 241 sleeping American Marines. It is Iran that maimed and killed thousands of American servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan with their IEDs. It is Iran that has constantly armed Hizb’allah and Hamas, and it is Iran that this month sent a ship bound to Hamas-controlled Gaza that had within it containers of long-range missiles that could easily reached much of Europe and the Arab states, let alone all of Israel.

By framing the conversation as involving Israel alone, which the Iranian regime regards as only “the Minor Satan”, focus has been taken off of the very real threat that Iran poses to the United States, which they regard as “the Great Satan.”

Many in the international community have been willfully taken in by the duplicitous strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a merciless, brutal regime has executed close to 95 people in the last few months, and over 500 in this past year for the “crimes” of being a member of a religious minority, for being against the regime, or of being accused of homosexuality. In June of 2009, millions of beautiful, freedom-loving dissidents took to the streets, and were bludgeoned to death or mysteriously disappeared into the notorious Evin Prison, never to be heard from again.

As the late Soviet dissident Andre Sakharov once said, “If you want to understand what a nation’s foreign policy will look like, look at the way, they treat their dissident population.”

The threat posed by a nuclear Iran is real and it is imminent, even to us, here in the United States. This holiday of Purim, it about time we remove their masks.

RNC Chairman: GOP’s Current Primary Process “A Complete Disaster.”

Photo Credit: AP / Ben Margot Planned changes to the Republican Party’s presidential selection process are part of a rebuilding process that will strengthen the GOP brand and hopefully make its presidential nominee more competitive in 2016, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus told California Republicans on Friday, calling the GOP’s current primary process “a complete disaster.”

Priebus said shortening the primary process by moving up the national convention at which the nominee is typically selected to June and cutting the number of debates are “not an establishment takeover. This is using your brain. Everything’s not a conspiracy.”

“I think a traveling circus of debates is insanity in this party,” Priebus told about 200 delegates. “We’re proposing to have fewer than 10, and this time around, we’re going to pick the moderators.”

Bible Controversy Hits Air Force Base

Photo Credit: APFor more than a decade new military recruits at Maxwell Air Force Base – Gunter Annex in Alabama have received a Bible from Gideons International volunteers. But that tradition has come to an end after volunteers said they were told by the military that they would no longer be allowed to personally distribute the pocket-sized Bibles to recruits.

“They kicked us out,” Gideon’s volunteer Michael Fredenburg told me in a telephone interview from his home in Montgomery, Ala. “They told us, ‘get your Bibles out.’”

Gaylan Johnson, is a public affairs officer for the Military Entrance Processing Command. He told me the Gideons’ side of the story is “not strictly true.”

“They can place their literature within our facility, but they are not allowed to stand there and talk with applicants or hand them (the Bibles) out,” he told me.

Fredenburg said his father started the tradition of giving Bibles to new military recruits at the Military Entrance Processing Command center more than 10 years ago. He assumed leadership of the group when his father died last July.

‘It’s Not About the Food, It’s About Islamic Supremacism’

Photo Credit: Sham Hardy / Creative Commons The relentless push to Islamicize the public square, and in this case the public school, escalates in New York City. Fresh on the heels of Muslim school holidays comes this demand for halal food in the New York City public schools.

According to the well-coached children making the demand, the vegetarian option is not sufficient because “we don’t get the protein that we need.” Yet these kids looked hardly undernourished, and, frankly, if protein is your thing, then why not bring hard-boiled eggs to school or beef jerky?

Because it’s not about the food, it’s about Islamic supremacism.

The New York City school system is 10 percent Muslim (if that). If food choice is so important to them, why not bring their own food? One young Muslima featured in a news story about the demand claims that not having halal food and having to eat peanut butter and jelly makes her “feel different.” But the fact is, she is choosing to be different. And her community is forcing the general population to conform to their ideology.

One parent said (with a straight face, no less): “As a parent, it is your duty to ensure your child does not go without food the whole day, and if that makes him weak and inattentive maybe he will lose interest in going to school.” You can’t make this stuff up. Now poor parenting is the lunch lady’s fault. Forgive me if I don’t buy the poor malnourished child propaganda. Growing up, there was never a hot lunch option in my public school, and we all did rather well. It’s just another way of imposing Islam on the secular marketplace.

New Conservative Poll for Prez Surprises GOP Establishment

When it comes to picking a presidential candidate for 2016, the GOP elite is having a hard time getting the grassroots to toe the establishment line.

Top Republican strategist Karl Rove, for example, has repeatedly praised Chris Christie, the Republican governor of New Jersey, as “a strong potential candidate in 2016,” whom Democrats fear will win the nomination.

And when other names gained popular attention, particularly attention among the so-called tea-party crowd, the man known as the “architect” was quick to criticize.

Rove, for example, blasted potential presidential hopeful Ted Cruz for not playing ball with the GOP establishment, just as the Texas senator’s name started to gain traction with Republican voters. Rove similarly opened fire on Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., for talking about Monica Lewinsky and potential Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the same breath…

But now a poll on one of the Internet’s top websites, the Drudge Report, reveals the ground troops just aren’t buying it.

McConnell Wants No Nominees From Tea Party: Establishment “Going to Crush Them Everywhere”

Photo Credit: AP/J. Scott ApplewhiteSenate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) didn’t merely say Tea Party candidates challenging him and other established Republicans in the 2014 midterm elections don’t pose much of a threat.

McConnell’s prediction is arguably more along the lines of fighting words.

“I think we are going to crush them everywhere,” McConnell told the New York Times. “I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country.”

U.S. to Relinquish Remaining Control Over the Internet to Global Governance

U.S. officials announced plans Friday to relinquish federal government control over the administration of the Internet, a move that pleased international critics but alarmed some business leaders and others who rely on the smooth functioning of the Web.

Pressure to let go of the final vestiges of U.S. authority over the system of Web addresses and domain names that organize the Internet has been building for more than a decade and was supercharged by the backlash last year to revelations about National Security Agency surveillance.

The change would end the long-running contract between the Commerce Department and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), a California-based nonprofit group. That contract is set to expire next year but could be extended if the transition plan is not complete.

“We look forward to ICANN convening stakeholders across the global Internet community to craft an appropriate transition plan,” Lawrence E. Strickling, assistant secretary of commerce for communications and information, said in a statement.

The announcement received a passionate response, with some groups quickly embracing the change and others blasting it.
