Nearly 7 Million Americans Registered to Vote in More Than One State

Photo Credit: The Daily Signal Some 6.9 million Americans are registered to vote in two or more states, according to a report from an election-watch group.

“Our nation’s voter rolls are a mess,” says Catherine Engelbrecht, True The Vote president. “Sensible approaches to roll maintenance are fought tooth and nail by radical special interests who can use the duplicity in the system to their advantage.”

The latest interstate voter cross check tallied 6,951,484 overlapping voter registrations, and they’re just the tip of the iceberg.

The cross-check program involves only 28 states and does not include the three largest: California, Texas and Florida.

“Duplicate registration is an open invitation to voting fraud,” said Clara Belle Wheeler, a member of the Election Board in Albemarle County, Va. “This ability to vote more than once dilutes the legal votes and changes the results of elections.”

INSANE: GOP Senator Targeted by Lerner Ways and Means Investigation Uncovers Push to Audit Senator Chuck Grassley

Photo Credit: Gage SkidmoreBy Sarah Swinehart.

Today, Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) announced the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) targeting of conservative individuals includes a sitting United States Senator. According to emails reviewed by the Committee under its Section 6103 authority, which allows the Committee to review confidential taxpayer information, Lois Lerner sought to have Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) referred for IRS examination.

“We have seen a lot of unbelievable things in this investigation, but the fact that Lois Lerner attempted to initiate an apparently baseless IRS examination against a sitting Republican United States Senator is shocking,” said Camp. “At every turn, Lerner was using the IRS as a tool for political purposes in defiance of taxpayer rights…

By Katie Pavlich.

According to emails released by the House Ways and Means Committee late Wednesday, former head of tax exempt groups at the IRS Lois Lerner wasn’t only referring conservative groups for targeting, but Republican Senator Charles Grassley as well.

Lerner mistakenly received an invitation to speak at event that was intended for Grassley, opened it, didn’t forward it to the proper recipient (Grassley) and then asked that he be referred for to the IRS for examination (audit).

“We have seen a lot of unbelievable things in this investigation, but the fact that Lois Lerner attempted to initiate an apparently baseless IRS examination against a sitting Republican United States Senator is shocking,” Chairman Dave Camp said in a statement. “At every turn, Lerner was using the IRS as a tool for political purposes in defiance of taxpayer rights…

Karl Rove Silent on Mississippi Race Tactics

Photo Credit: APThis morning in the Wall Street Journal, former Bush aide Karl Rove writes a column that includes the following on the Mississippi Senate race:

Mississippi’s Sen. Thad Cochran pulled off a difficult and surprising win Tuesday night, and he has the state’s open primary law to thank for it. In the June 3 primary, Mr. Cochran trailed tea party favorite Chris McDaniel by 1,386 votes or 0.5% of the 313,443 votes cast. This week, he beat Mr. McDaniel, a state senator, by 6,373 votes or 1.6% of 374,893 votes.

Turnout was up in the runoff, which last happened in a Senate race 30 years ago. The six-term senator’s victory was due to a strategy by his campaign and the support of the Mississippi Conservatives super PAC led by GOP national committeeman Henry Barbour and his uncle, the very popular former Gov. Haley Barbour. They aimed to turn out for the second-round Republicans who did not vote in the primary and bring out Mississippians, including Democrats, who had not voted in either party’s primary and thus could vote in the runoff.

These organizational efforts paid off, with turnout increasing in counties Mr. Cochran carried in the first round at about twice the rate as turnout rose in counties Mr. McDaniel won. (Full disclosure: I donated to Mr. Cochran’s campaign and the super PAC that I help, American Crossroads, donated to Mississippi Conservatives in the primary and runoff.)

How Thad Cochran Won

Photo Credit: APAfter trailing the lesser known McDaniel in the June 3 primary, Cochran, in three weeks time, managed to: a) grow the electorate in his favor by, among other things, recruiting African Americans to his cause b) run successfully on a message of keeping his seniority in Washington and c) win despite, quite clearly, being the less naturally skilled candidate on the stump.

Doing one of those things in three weeks time would be astounding. Doing all three is like watching someone pitch a political perfect game; you’ll not see a victory like this one any time soon.

So, how did he do it? I talked to several people involved in either the Cochran campaign or other outside groups that helped the incumbent in the wake of his victory. Here’s what they told me.

*He convinced black voters to be for him. According to the Fix’s Philip Bump, runoff turnout in the 24 counties with a black population of 50 percent or more was up almost 40 percent from the primary. In all other counties, turnout was up just 16 percent. That is an absolutely stunning stat — and tells much of the story of the runoff. Cochran’s ability to convince a strongly Democratic constituency to be for him — despite the fact that every Democratic consultant believed McDaniel gave the party a better chance to win the seat in the fall — is simply remarkable.

Any Cheese To Go With This Whine? Obama Responds to Boehner’s Lawsuit Against Him (+video)

By Jennifer Van Laar.

President Obama’s sick of those big mean bullies in Congress, and he’s not taking it anymore.

After House Speaker John Boehner announced yesterday that he is pursuing legal action against him over his use of executive power, Obama lashed out at the GOP:

President Barack Obama pointed his finger squarely back at congressional Republicans on Friday, stating that their historic inaction prompted him to go it alone to address the nation’s problems.

“They don’t do anything except block me and call me names,” Obama said in a speech on the economy at Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

You Know How They Say The Divorce Rate In The Church Is 50%? Prepare To Be Shocked…

Photo Credit: Western Journalism It is commonly thought that the rate of divorce in the church is the same as the rate of divorce among those outside the church, supposedly a whopping 50 percent. According to Harvard-trained researcher Shaunti Feldhahn, though, the rate of divorce among church attenders is “maybe 15 percent, maybe 20 percent for all marriages.”

Feldhahn could find no actual evidence that the divorce rate in society at large and the church was an abysmal 50 percent. She spent eight years seeking the truth in this matter, and she came to dramatically different conclusions from what “common knowledge” describes. Feldhahn produced a book called The Good News About Marriage to debunk the discouraging notion that divorce in the church is around 50 percent.

Feldhahn describes the discouraged attitude many in the church had because of the false statistic:

For the average person in the congregation, there’s this subtle feeling like, ‘If that’s true: if on something as important as marriage, doing what the Bible says doesn’t change anything; what does that mean about the Bible?

Clinton Bristled at Benghazi Deception

Photo Credit: Getty ImagesIn his new book, “Blood Feud,” journalist Edward Klein gets inside the dysfunctional, jealous relationship between Bill and Hillary Clinton and Barack and Michelle Obama. Here, he explains what happened the night of the Benghazi attack.

By 10 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2012, when Hillary Clinton received a call from President Obama, she was one of the most thoroughly briefed officials in Washington on the unfolding disaster in Benghazi, Libya.

She knew that Ambassador Christopher Stevens and a communications operator were dead, and that the attackers had launched a well-coordinated mortar assault on the CIA annex, which would cost the lives of two more Americans.

She had no doubt that a terrorist attack had been launched against America on the anniversary of 9/11. However, when Hillary picked up the phone and heard Obama’s voice, she learned the president had other ideas in mind. With less than two months before Election Day, he was still boasting that he had al Qaeda on the run.

If the truth about Benghazi became known, it would blow that argument out of the water.

AWKWARD: CNBC Host Accidentally Outs Apple CEO As Gay

Photo Credit: Daily Caller There was an uncomfortable moment of silence on the CNBC panel during “Squawk on the Street” on Friday.

New York Times columnist and CNBC contributor Jim Stewart was talking about his latest column, “Among Gay CEOs, the Pressure to Conform,” in which he described former B.P. chief executive John Browne’s experience as a closet gay executive.

Stewart said the current corporate culture prevents gay CEOs from coming out in public.

Miller Changes Minds with Debate Performance

GOP US. Senate Debate Anchorage – Aim, Inc.

Joe Miller turned in a strong performance at last night’s GOP U.S. Senate debate in Anchorage. The event was was sponsored by KVNT and KOAN and organized by the Anchorage Republican Women’s Club. One political analyst, who had been a critic and published an article with Politico this past spring stating why Miller could not win, reversed course.

During a TV news interview following the debate last night in Anchorage, he described Miller’s performance as “impressive” and when questioned who won said, “To be honest with you, I believe Joe Miller helped himself the most. I plead guilty to writing him off a year ago. But his candidacy is alive and well. I thought his performance tonight really showed that.” His conclusion, “It’s anyone’s race.” This analysis matched those of other pundits and attendees of the debate.

“Joe established himself as the true principle-driven constitutional conservative in the race and demonstrated why he is the one best able to take on and defeat Mark Begich this fall,” said Miller campaign spokesman Randy DeSoto. “He is committed to going to Washington and helping reverse our nation’s current disastrous direction. His two Establishment opponents’ record and even campaign rhetoric point to a willingness to play the Washington game.”

Major differences on amnesty, the role of international law, the future of the IRS, and foreign policy came into clear relief during last night’s debate. Miller opposes amnesty, believes our Constitution must remain the unchallenged law of the land (and that we must not yield to the forces of internationalism). As someone who has seen war, Miller believes our military must be the strongest on earth and used only in defense of our vital national interests. He does not believe the Founders intended for us to be involved in nation-building: the price in life and treasure is too high, and the results are often contrary to our country’s intended goals. Miller’s opponents stand on the opposite side on these issues. (View a candidate comparison HERE.)

In his closing statement, Miller responded to the question why he is running for U.S. Senate stating, “If America falls, there is no place else to go.” We must preserve this last bastion of liberty for ourselves and future generations.

U.N. Experts Trace Recent Seized Arms to Iran, Violating Embargo

Photo Credit: REUTERS / HEINZ-PETER BADERA U.N. expert panel has concluded that a shipment of rockets and other weapons that was seized by Israel came from Iran and represents a violation of the U.N. arms embargo on Tehran, according to a confidential report obtained by Reuters on Friday.

The finding comes just days ahead of the next round of negotiations in Vienna between Iran and six world powers aimed at securing a deal that would gradually lift international sanctions on Tehran — including the arms embargo — in exchange for curbs on the controversial Iranian nuclear program.

Despite Israel’s public statements that the seized arms were destined for Gaza — an allegation that Gaza’s governing Islamist militant group Hamas dismissed as a fabrication — the experts said the weapons were being sent to Sudan.

The experts do not speculate in the report about why the arms were being sent to Sudan, a country which Western diplomatic and intelligence sources have told Reuters has in the past been a conduit for Iranian arms shipments to other locations in Africa, as well as the Gaza Strip.

The experts said the Israeli U.N. mission wrote to the U.N. Iran Sanctions Committee on March 13 about “the transfer of rockets, mortars and related materiel from Iran to Sudan.”
