Military officials have negotiated contracts with local ranchers to conduct Jade Helm training on their property, according to Big Spring Mayor Larry McLellan.

However, he said residents will not be “forced out of their homes” to accommodate troops during the large-scale military exercise, scheduled to run July 15 through September 15.

McLellan had no details about the contracts supposedly offered to Big Spring homeowners. Military officials were not available to answer questions about how many ranchers were being displaced or inconvenienced due to Jade Helm, and how much they would receive in compensation.

Jade Helm operations planners previously confirmed training will only be conducted on private and public land with the permission of landowners or regional authorities. . .

McLellan confirmed Jade Helm personnel would be purchasing groceries and other supplies locally. Operations planners and city officials calculated “wherever they’re training could see as much as $150,000 increase in sales” during the two-month exercise. HSBC WARNS: The World Economy Faces a ‘Titanic Problem’

titanic-19HSBC chief economist Stephen King is already thinking about the next recession.

In a note to clients Wednesday, he warns: “The world economy is like an ocean liner without lifeboats. If another recession hits, it could be a truly titanic struggle for policymakers.”

Here’s King’s warning:

Whereas previous recoveries have enabled monetary and fiscal policymakers to replenish their ammunition, this recovery — both in the US and elsewhere — has been distinguished by a persistent munitions shortage. This is a major problem. In all recessions since the 1970s, the US Fed funds rate has fallen by a minimum of 5 percentage points. That kind of traditional stimulus is now completely ruled out.

King notes that this far into the recovery, there’s a lack of “traditional policy ammunition.” For instance, Treasury yields have not risen, the budget deficit is not falling, and welfare payments are still on the rise. Greg Gutfeld SHREDS Obama Administration for Apologizing to the UN for America’s Civil Rights Record [+video]

Greg-Gutfeld-3157By Red Dawn. Greg Gutfeld used Tuesday’s monologue on “The Five” to slam the Obama administration for apologizing to the UN Human Rights Council.

In case you missed it, on Monday, Justice Department actually told the Council that America must “rededicate ourselves to ensuring that our civil rights laws live up to their promise.”

“The tragic deaths of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Michael Brown in Missouri, Eric Garner in New York, Tamir Rice in Ohio and Walter Scott in South Carolina have … challenged us to do better and to work harder for progress,” a senior counsel in the civil division of the Justice Department said.

The UN Human Rights Council is a total joke, but the Obama administration never wastes a valuable opportunity to bash America on the world stage.

UN Dictators Club Attacks U.S. Police, ‘Human Rights’ Record

By Alex Newman. While United Nations chief Ban Ki-moon was in Moscow schmoozing with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Communist Chinese dictator Xi Jinping, autocrats and UN bureaucrats were attacking the United States over its track record on what the global organization refers to as “human rights” — in reality government-granted privileges that can be revoked at will. The tyrant-dominated UN “Human Rights Council,” which has previously lambasted the U.S. government for not further defying the U.S. Constitution and infringing even more on the gun rights of Americans, focused largely on verbally attacking U.S. police during a session in Geneva. However, the outfit’s members also demanded everything from closing Guantanamo Bay and banning capital punishment to providing more taxpayer funding for abortion worldwide and more welfare at home.

The UN’s “Universal Periodic Review” (UPR) of the United States, which took place in Geneva on May 11, was the second review of America’s “human rights” record. Representatives of some 117 governments and brutal dictatorships seized the opportunity to blast the U.S. government for not submitting quickly enough to their previous list of demands outlined in 2010. Those “recommendations,” often made by some of the UN’s most ruthless mass-murdering member regimes, focused mostly on surrendering more U.S. sovereignty to the UN by ratifying more global treaties, submitting to UN kangaroo courts, and allowing the UN to dictate U.S. policy. The communist and socialist regimes ruling North Korea, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba, and more all added their demands to the list. Iran’s Islamist autocrats called for the U.S. government to combat “gun violence.”

The most recent UN “review” of the United States, which every member government of the global body is purportedly “required” to submit to, mostly aimed at demonizing U.S. police as violent racists supposedly in need of national and global controls. The recent death of Freddie Gray under suspicious circumstances in police custody, already being exploited by Obama and the establishment to push for nationalizing local police forces, received a great deal of attention. Other recent high-profile killings by American police officers were brought up repeatedly as well. Also high on the agenda were attacks on NSA spying, which multiple hostile foreign regimes presumably being monitored by U.S. intelligence services criticized as a “human rights” concern. Spying on U.S. citizens without a warrant is already unconstitutional.

Each UN member regime participating in the spectacle was given just over a minute to lash out at America. Putin’s representative said “the human rights situation in the country has seriously deteriorated recently.” The U.S.-funded Pakistani regime’s delegate, meanwhile, said he had “serious concerns about the human rights situation in the U.S.,” pointing to Obama’s extrajudicial drone assassinations, CIA torture, illegal detentions, and alleged systemic police brutality against blacks. Indian government representative Ajit Kumar even called for the U.S. government to create a “national human rights institution.” Several European governments blasted the ongoing use of the death penalty by some U.S. states. Various “human rights” groups also attacked the United States for real and imagined violations of rights.

The Obama administration, meanwhile, sent high-level bureaucrats to grovel before the UN panel. “We must rededicate ourselves to ensuring that our civil-rights laws live up to their promise,” U.S. Justice Department official James Cadogan declared in Geneva. “The tragic deaths of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, Michael Brown in Missouri, Eric Garner in New York, Tamir Rice in Ohio, and Walter Scott in South Carolina have renewed a long-standing and critical national debate about the even-handed administration of justice. These events challenge us to do better and to work harder for progress — through both dialogue and action.” (Read more from this story HERE)

Opinion: The Catholic Church Has Gone Socialist

Since we published our article, “Catholic Church Captured by ‘Progressive Forces,’” it is starting to dawn on many in and out of the media that Pope Francis has come down on the side of the “progressive,” and even Marxist, forces in the world today.

Writing at the Blaze.com and commenting on the pope’s friendly meeting with Cuban dictator Raul Castro, Catholic writer Stephen Herreid of the Intercollegiate Review called the pope’s dealings with Castro and other Marxists “a new Catholic scandal” as significant and terrifying as the presence of pedophiles in the church. He wonders how conservative Catholics can continue to pay respect to a pope “intent on making friends with the enemies of religious liberty.”

Francis had a one-hour meeting with Raul Castro on May 10. The day before, Castro had greeted Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Francis will visit Cuba in September prior to his tour of the United States.

The Associated Press reported that Castro commented, after meeting with the pope, that the pontiff “is a Jesuit, and I, in some way, am too.” Castro added, “I always studied at Jesuit schools.” He also promised, “When the pope goes to Cuba in September, I promise to go to all his Masses, and with satisfaction.”

The evidence is getting too big for the major media to ignore: the pope has made common cause with the forces of international Marxism, which are associated with atheism, the suppression of traditional Christianity and the persecution and murder of Christians. Obama: Rich People Aren’t Evil, They Just Have Too Much Money [+videos]

Barack Obama, David CameronIn remarks that drew critical broadsides from conservative radio champion Mark Levin and others on the right, Obama, in addition to attacking Fox News, said rich people aren’t “evil” per se they just have too much money.

“I’m not saying this because I dislike hedge fund managers or think they are evil,” Obama said “You pretty much have more than you’ll ever use and your family will ever use.”

Showing that he doesn’t understand most rich people work hard for their money, the president compared them to gamblers hitting a jackpot. . .

“Part of what happened in our politics and part of what has shifted — elites in a very mobile globalized world are able to live together away from folks who are not as wealthy,” he said. “What used to be racial segregation mirrors itself in class segregation.”

“We’re not, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that’s fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you’ve made enough money,” he said at the time. (Read more from “Obama: Rich People Aren’t Evil, They Just Have Too Much Money” HERE)

Here’s What Wannabe King Bush III Says His First Action Would Be If He Was Elected President

By Warren Mass. During a recent interview with Megyn Kelly on Fox News, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said that — were he to be elected president — his first order of business would not be to repeal President Obama’s executive action granting amnesty to four million illegal aliens. Bush, who has not yet announced himself as a candidate for the Republican nomination in 2016, said that although he did not support the Obama administration executive action — which he called unconstitutional — he would not remove it (presumably by another executive action) immediately after assuming the presidency. Bush said he would rather rectify the action as part of “meaningful” immigration reform legislation passed by Congress.

Kelly told Bush that she had talked to Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who was one of the “Gang of Eight” that drafted the bipartisan “immigration reform” bill that passed the Senate in 2013 but was never voted on by the Republican-led House because it provided amnesty to illegal aliens. She said that Rubio told her: “It’s going to be very difficult to undo [the executive action] once all these folks are here, if that legal challenge to his action does not succeed.”

The “legal challenge” that Kelly referred to is a temporary injunction that U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Brownsville issued last February, blocking implementation of the Obama plan. Hanen’s decision was in response to a suit filed against the administration by a group of states led by Texas. The administration has appealed that injunction to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, which heard arguments from both sides in the case on April 17, but has not yet issued a decision.

Bush replied: “By the way, I think [the legal challenge] will succeed.”

When Kelly asked Bush how he would go about undoing the executive actions (presuming they were still intact should he become president), the former governor replied: “Passing meaningful reform of immigration and make it part of it.” (Read more from “Here’s What Wannabe King Bush III Says His First Action Would Be If He Was Elected President” HERE)

Early Polls Tough to Swallow for Bush

By David Catanese. Like many candidates before him, Jeb Bush has rendered early polling in the 2016 presidential race pointless.

“The polls are totally irrelevant,” he told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly this week. “Everyone needs to take a chill pill on the polls until it gets closer.”

But regardless of their ultimate predictive value, a reading of voters’ early preferences and impressions still provides a snapshot of the bumpy road the son of one former president and the brother of another faces to the Republican nomination. . .

About half of the GOP seems firmly skeptical of him, either because he’s part of a political dynasty or because he’s breaking with conservative orthodoxy on immigration reform and education standards.

His favorability rating is in negative territory among first-in-the-nation Iowa caucusgoers, a number that had to factor in to his decision to skip the August straw poll in the Hawkeye State for another event. (A Bush aide denies this.) In New Hampshire, where Republicans hue more moderate, he’s in better shape, but faces fierce competition in a primary he likely has to win. College Students Told to Report Hurtful Statements to Campus Authorities

CU_sealIf someone says anything mean-spirited at the University of Colorado Boulder – campus administrators want to know about it. Not only that – they want to know the offender’s name, age, email address and more.

University of Colorado-Boulder has launched a new campaign encouraging students to report any “bias” they come across to campus authorities, who collect details including offenders’ names, birthdays, genders – even social security numbers – along with a description of the “incident.”

The “Bias Incident Reporting” effort aims to “address the impact of demeaning and hurtful statements as well as acts of intolerance directed towards protected classes,” CU Boulder’s website states.

Examples of bias, according to a corresponding poster campaign highlighting the reporting system, include calling people names or making fun of their culture.

“This in no way is meant to curtail free speech,” campus spokesman Ryan Huff told The College Fix in an email. “We support the First Amendment and want our students to challenge one another in academic ways. We don’t support, however, the use of racial slurs and other demeaning bias-motivated acts.” (Read more from “College Students Told to Report Hurtful Statements to Campus Authorities” HERE)

We Are Facing the Greatest Water Crisis in the History of the United States

What are we going to do once all the water is gone? Thanks to the worst drought in more than 1,000 years, the western third of the country is facing the greatest water crisis that the United States has ever seen.

Lake Mead is now the lowest that it has ever been since the Hoover Dam was finished in the 1930s, mandatory water restrictions have already been implemented in the state of California, and there are already widespread reports of people stealing water in some of the worst hit areas. But this is just the beginning.

Right now, in a desperate attempt to maintain somewhat “normal” levels of activity, water is being pumped out of the ground in the western half of the nation at an absolutely staggering pace . . .

If this multi-year drought stretches on and becomes the “megadrought” that a lot of scientists are now warning about, life as we know it in much of the country is going to be fundamentally transformed and millions of Americans may be forced to find somewhere else to live.

Simply put, this is not a normal drought. What the western half of the nation is experiencing right now is highly unusual. In fact, scientists tell us that California has not seen anything quite like this in at least 1,200 years. Obama Regime Pushes Public Boarding Schools: Government Wants to Own “Certain Kids, 24/7” [+video]

CORRECTION-US-POLITICS-WHCA-OBAMAA short drive from the Georgetown University campus where President Obama excoriated wealthy parents who send their children to private schools on Tuesday, his education secretary proposed creating similar schools for children – paid for by the taxpayer of course.

“One idea that I threw out, is the idea of public boarding schools,” Arne Duncan said at the National Summit on Youth Violence Prevention in Crystal City, Virginia.

“That’s a little bit of a different idea — a controversial idea — but the question is, do we have some children where there’s not a mom, there’s not a dad, there’s not a grandma, there’s just nobody at home?

“There’s just certain kids we should have 24/7 to really create a safe environment and give them a chance to be successful,” he said.

Never mind that cynics will already point out that every state in America as a department of child services intended specifically to take care of children without parents. (Not to mention the already too-large juvenile justice systems.) (Read more from “Obama Regime Pushes Public Boarding Schools: ‘Certain Kids We Should Have 24/7′” HERE)

Pope Continues his Leftward March, Will Officially Recognize Palestinian Statehood

1429260931_The Vatican announced Wednesday that it had brokered a treaty with the “state of Palestine,” upsetting Israeli advocates and propelling Pope Francis into the heart of yet another geopolitical fray.

The treaty is expected to be signed “in the near future,” the Vatican said. Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian Authority, is scheduled to visit Pope Francis on Saturday, the day before the church canonizes two Palestinian nuns.

The treaty is thought to mark the first time the Holy See has formally recognized Palestinian statehood in a legal document. Vatican policy, however, has long held that a two-state solution is the best road to peace in the Holy Land. The Vatican has referred to Palestine as a state since November 2012, when the United Nations voted to recognize it as a nonmember observer state, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, a Vatican spokesman, told CNN. At the time, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI led the Catholic Church. . .

According to Palestinian officials, as many as 135 states now recognize Palestine as a state. Few political leaders, though, have the moral authority and popular appeal of Pope Francis.

While the Vatican commended the midlevel diplomats who hammered out the agreement, Wednesday’s announcement seems sure to polish the Pope’s image as a one-man United Nations, confidently wading into turbulent political waters and unafraid of upsetting the status quo.
