‘Death Panels’ Reappear on Capitol Hill [+video]

The White House has announced the revival of a proposal that almost put an end to passage of Obamacare – the widely criticized “death panels” that press physicians to have talks with their patients about end times, and to advise accordingly.

The Obama administration said it’s proposed a reimbursement scale for doctors who do have that talk with their patients, the Los Angeles Times reported. The plan, stemming from the Department of Health and Human Services, was tucked inside a massive Medicare regulatory bill unveiled on Wednesday on Capitol Hill.

Under the proposal, patients would not be required to talk to their doctors about end-of-life care. Rather, the measure only provides a means for doctors to bill Medicare for “advance-care planning,” should the patient have such discussion, the news outlet said . . .

Critics, however, say such notions actually put the federal government in charge of deciding how medical care will be provided for the elderly or those with incurable diseases and ailments. Critics also say the plan will actually pressure the elderly or ill to sign documents they otherwise might not. (Read more from “‘Death Panels’ Reappear on Capitol Hill” HERE)

Hillary Clinton: We Must Address the Uncontrollable Use of Guns in America

By Awr Hawkins. Speaking at a house Party in Ottumwa, Iowa, on July 7, Democrat presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton said we must address the “uncontrollable use of guns” in America.

Furthermore, Mrs. Clinton said Democrats need not let fear of the “gun lobby” get in the way of doing this.

According to the Associated Press, Clinton said that “she believes most Americans … support universal background checks,” which is something she will pursue if elected. She added, “Let’s not be afraid of the gun lobby, which does not even really represent the majority of gun owners in America.”

These statements are in addition to others Clinton made least year at a June 17 townhall meeting, in which she claimed gun owners “terrorize the majority of people.” In that speech, Clinton also renewed her support for an assault weapons ban and a ban on “high capacity” magazines. Seattle To Explore Gun & Ammo Tax

By Michael Strickland. Seattle city council president Tim Burgess has concocted the latest scheme to stem “gun violence”, and it has gun rights supporters upset.

Burgess has put together a plan that involves implementing a city wide tax on firearms and ammunition purchases. A gun purchase would get a $25 tax added to the cost, and ammo would be charged an additional 5 cents per round.

His official press release includes the following:

The revenue proceeds from the gun violence tax would be dedicated to prevention programs and research intended to reduce the burden of gun violence on Seattle residents and neighborhoods.

“Taxpayers in Seattle pay for millions of dollars in emergency medical care every year for people who have been shot,” said Council President Burgess. “It’s time for the gun industry to chip in to help defray these costs.”

Feds Spent $2 Million on Sexist Program to Have Wives Nag Men About Chewing Tobacco

Since 2012 the government has spent nearly $2 million on a campaign to get women to nag the men in their lives to quit using smokeless tobacco.

The National Institutes of Health has sponsored a continuing grant for the Oregon Research Institute to “evaluate an innovative approach that encourages male smokeless tobacco users to quit by enlisting the support of their wives/partners, both to lead smokeless tobacco users to engage in treatment and to help them sustain abstinence.”

Researchers had already “established that women can be readily recruited” to get their husbands to quit chewing tobacco, but now the project is going a step further with a multimedia push that includes a website with an interactive and tailored support plan . . .

The program is raising eyebrows among taxpayer watchdogs, health advocates and activists on women’s issues, who see the expenditures as wasteful and gender pandering.

“American women don’t need the federal government spending money to get us to nag our husbands to stop using tobacco, we do that just fine on our own,” said Penny Nance, president and CEO of Concerned Women for America, a conservative women’s group. “Even if it were a worthwhile effort, we are $18 trillion in debt. We simply can’t afford it.” (Read more from “Feds Spent $2 Million to Have Wives Nag Men About Chewing Tobacco” HERE)

Obama’s Progressive America: Politico Calls for Ethnic, Cultural Cleansing of Southern Whites

Politico Magazine, edited by former Washington Post reporter Susan Glasser, published an amazingly racist and culturally bigoted article by contributing editor Michael Lind last Friday entitled, “How the South Skews America, We’d be less violent, more mobile and in general more normal if not for Dixie.”

Politico bemoans conservative, religious white Southerners whom the magazine accuses of preventing the U.S. from being more like Britain, Canada and other liberal, English speaking democracies. The article concludes with the hope that the South will be ethnically and culturally cleansed by immigrants from other countries and liberals relocating from other parts of the U.S.

“The United States would be much less exceptional in general, and in particular more like other English-speaking democracies such as Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand were it not for the effects on U.S. politics and culture of the American South.

“I don’t mean this in a good way. A lot of the traits that make the United States exceptional these days are undesirable, like higher violence and less social mobility. Many of these differences can be attributed largely to the South.

Minus the South, the rest of the U.S. probably would be more like Canada or Australia or Britain or New Zealand—more secular, more socially liberal, more moderate in the tone of its politics and somewhat more generous in social policy. And it would not be as centralized as France or as social democratic as Sweden.”

Women Describe Horrific Rapes at Hands of ISIS Jihadists Who Beat 1 Year Old Until Woman Gave in to Captor’s Demands

Two young Yazidi women have described the unimaginable cruelty and horrific rapes they endured while under the control of their ISIS captors, one of whom reportedly beat a woman’s 1-year-old child in front of her until all of his sexual demands were met.

Reehan, 19, and Barfo, 25, last names not included to protect their identities, told their stories to the British MailOnline. Raheen, married with a young son, was abducted from her home in Northwestern Iraq. She was auctioned off to a 50-year-old fighter whom she was able to fend off at first until the man started beating her 1-year-old son. She then said she was forced to give in to all of his demands to save the life of her son.

“I agreed to everything that this man wanted for the sake of my son,” she declared. Reehan was subsequently locked up in the man’s home for the next 10 months. She further explained that she tried to stop the repeated rapes by appealing to her captor’s Islamic beliefs, but he said the sex trade among Yazidi women is permitted “according to Islam.”

Reehan was sold into sexual slavery multiple times, all while being raped and beaten, but refused to commit suicide in fear of what might happen to her young son. She said she had to risk her life to flee her final captive once she saw a mother and daughter being raped together. She fled to another house in Syria, sought help, and a $15,000 ransom was paid by her mother with the help of charities that raised some of the funds demanded by the Syrian man who offered to help her escape for a fee.

The Christian Post previously reported on the torture of Yazidi girls and women at the hands of ISIS militants who bragged about releasing those who were raped after they converted to Islam. Raheen says her husband, father, and two sisters are still being held captive by ISIS and she fears they might already be dead. Trump Vows Long Campaign, Won’t Commit to Backing GOP Nominee; Hammers Bush for Taking $100k from Vets’ Group

Donald Trump vowed to wage a hard-charging and lengthy presidential campaign, including filing his financial disclosures with the Federal Election Commission as early as next week, as unease continued to swirl throughout the Republican Party about his incendiary rhetoric on immigration.

In a wide-ranging, 30-minute interview with The Washington Post, the billionaire real estate mogul and reality-television star also said he has serious concerns about other GOP candidates and refused to commit to supporting the eventual nominee in the general election.

“So many people want me to run as an independent, so many people,” Trump said. “I have been asked by — you have no idea, everybody wants me to do it.”

Pressed about whether he would back the Republican ticket if he fails to win the nomination himself, Trump left the door open for a third-party bid of his own. “I would have to see who the nominee is,” he said.

For now, Trump said, he thinks that the “best chance of defeating the Democrats” is for him to “win as a Republican because I don’t want to be splitting up votes.” (Read more from “Trump Vows Long Campaign, Won’t Commit to Backing GOP Nominee” HERE)

Trump Slams George W. Bush for Charging Veterans Group $100,000 to Speak

By Bill Hoffmann. Donald Trump walloped George W. Bush with a verbal haymaker Thursday, slamming the former president for charging tens of thousands of dollars to speak to a group of severely wounded military veterans — soldiers he himself sent to war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“You mean George Bush sends our soldiers into combat, they are severely wounded, and then he wants $120,000 to make a boring speech to them?” the billionaire developer scolded in a message posted on Twitter.

The slam was seen as an indirect attack on George W.’s younger brother Jeb Bush, whom Trump is neck and neck in the polls with for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination.

As ABC News reported, Bush charged $100,000 to speak at a fundraiser for U.S. military veterans sponsored by Helping a Hero charity, a Texas-based charity. In addition, Bush was also given a private jet to travel to the event at a cost of $20,000.

ABC also reported that former First Lady Laura Bush commanded a $50,000 fee to appear before the veterans a year earlier. (Read more from this story HERE)

US: More Than 21 Million Affected by Government Data Breach

Hackers stole Social Security numbers, health histories and other highly sensitive data from more than 21 million people, the Obama administration said Thursday, acknowledging that the breach of U.S. government computer systems was far more severe than previously disclosed.

The scope of the data breach — believed to be the biggest in U.S. history — has grown dramatically since the government first disclosed earlier this year that hackers had gotten into the Office of Personnel Management’s personnel database and stolen records for about 4.2 million people. Since then, the Obama administration has acknowledged a second, related breach of the systems housing private data that individuals submit during background investigations to obtain security clearances.

That second attack affected more than 19 million people who applied for clearances, as well as nearly 2 million of their spouses, housemates and others who never applied for security clearances, the administration said. Among the data the hackers stole: criminal, financial, health, employment and residency histories, as well as information about their families and acquaintances.

The new revelations drew indignation from members of Congress who have said the administration has not done enough to protect personal data in their systems, as well as calls for OPM Director Katherine Archuleta and her top deputies to resign. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz, a Utah Republican, said Archuleta and her aides had “consciously ignored the warnings and failed to correct these weaknesses” . . .

House Republican leaders — Speaker John Boehner, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Whip Steve Scalise — also called for Archuleta’s resignation and said President Barack Obama must “take a strong stand against incompetence.” (Read more from “US: More Than 21 Million Affected by Government Data Breach” HERE)

Lesbian US Senator Says First Amendment Protects Free Exercise ONLY INSIDE of Churches, Synagogues and Mosques

Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-WI – the nation’s first openly lesbian elected to the U.S. Senate – addressed the Supreme Court’s Obergefell v. Hodges decision on June 27 on MSNBC’s Up with Steve Kornacki.

“Should the bakery have to bake the cake for the gay couple getting married?” the host asked. “Where do you come down on that?”

Baldwin responded that the First Amendment gave Americans no right to exercise religion outside the sanctuary of their church, synagogue, or mosque.

“Certainly the First Amendment says that in institutions of faith that there is absolute power to, you know, to observe deeply held religious beliefs. But I don’t think it extends far beyond that,” she said.

Sen. Baldwin then likened the issue to the Obama administration’s contentious HHS mandate, requiring employers to furnish contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs to female employees with no co-pay. Hillary Clinton Lies Again, Claims She Never Had Been Subpoenaed for Emails While Secr. of State [+video]

By Jeff Zeleny and Tom LoBianco. Hillary Clinton drew Republican fire Wednesday after falsely claiming she had never been subpoenaed for emails from her time as secretary of state.

When CNN’s Brianna Keilar asked Clinton in an exclusive interview on Tuesday about the decision to delete 33,000 emails while under investigation by a House panel, Clinton said other secretaries of state had done the “same thing.”

Keilar asked if her predecessors had also been subpoenaed, to which Clinton responded, “You’re starting with so many assumptions … I’ve never had a subpoena. Again, let’s take a deep breath here.”

But House Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy said Wednesday, “It couldn’t be more plain.”

“To state that you never received a subpoena, you did get one, in March. Your lawyer was on notice months before that, that this committee of Congress wanted your work-related emails,” the South Carolina Republican told CNN Wednesday. Gowdy: Hillary Had Three Subpoenas, Two Before Server Was Wiped

By Ian Hanchett. Representative Rep. Trey Gowdy said Hillary Clinton actually had three subpoenas, two of which were sent before her server was wiped on Wednesday’s “Hugh Hewitt Show.”

Gowdy was asked, “‘I’ve never had a subpoena,’ her words. Congressman Rep. Trey Gowdy, did Hillary Clinton lie yesterday?” He answered, “It is a fact that there was a subpoena issued to her in March of 2015. But Congressman, it’s also a fact that there was a subpoena in existence from another Congressional committee far before that one. So there are two subpoenas. There are letters from Congress. And there’s a statutory obligation to her to preserve public records.” And “There was a, — think back right after Benghazi, Rep. Jason Chaffetz wrote a letter to Secretary Clinton, in fact, saying Congress has the right and the authority to investigate these attacks. That is tantamount to a ‘do not destroy’ request. Despite Controversy, Trump Believes He’ll Win Latino Vote: ‘They Love Me, I Love Them’

By Fox News Latino. Despite the backlash over Donald Trump’s Mexico comments – and the multimillion dollars deals he’s lost because of companies cutting ties with him – the Republican presidential candidate and former “Apprentice” star still believes he will win the Latino vote.

“They love me,” Trump said. “I love them.”

In a Wednesday interview with NBC News, the real estate mogul and television personality continued to denounce illegal immigration.

“Don’t try and convince me that there’s no crime, that [immigration] is wonderful,” he said.

In fact, the immigration policy favored by the Democratic frontrunner, Hillary Clinton, he said, would be to “let everybody come in … killers, criminals, drug dealers.” (Read more from this story HERE)
