Las Vegas Cop Shot ‘Ambush-Style’ While Sitting in Patrol Car at Traffic Light

las-vegas-undersheriff-2-e1441584276224A Las Vegas police officer is in stable condition Sunday after being shot in the hand “ambush-style” while he and a fellow officer sat in a patrol car at a traffic light, KTNV-TV said.

The suspect is in custody, police said.

Police told KTNV the suspect — who’s in custody — approached the cruiser just after noon and fired three shots “ambush-style” at the officers who had just departed the scene of a disturbance call. The officers fired no shots, police told the station.

The officer hit by gunfire was in stable condition at a hospital.

It’s the second time in three days that a Las Vegas police officer has been shot in the line duty. Officer Jeremy Robertson was shot in the upper leg Friday morning while answering a call; two suspects were taken into custody, KTNV said. Middle School Student’s Parents Furious Over Islam School Unit

pillarsMaury County (Tennessee) Director of Schools Chris Marczak has asked parents concerned about a seventh grade social studies class on the history of Islam to discuss their questions in a Sept. 17 meeting with district teachers and administrators.

“If we are truly going to Grow Maury County together, then we need to openly talk and discuss about what we want to emphasize in our county,” Marczak said in a noon Thursday statement to district parents . . .

The issue arose over new state-mandated standards on middle school social studies about early American history. The standards were developed two years ago and implemented in the 2014-2015 school year.

A Spring Hill Middle School parent complained after seeing a school project her daughter had created featuring the Shahada, or Five Pillars of Faith in Islam: prayer, almsgiving, fasting, pilgrimage and creed.

Father of the Euro Fears Elites Conspiring to Create EU Superstate by the Back Door

issing_2303828bThe euro’s founding father has warned that Europe’s latest plan for an EMU-wide finance ministry is a dangerous attempt to smuggle through political union, and breaches the basic tenets of modern democracy.

Professor Otmar Issing, the chief architect of monetary union through its early years, said it would be “dangerous” to transfer control over tax and spending to the EU federal level before full political union has been established first on democratic foundations.

Such a quantum leap in the constitutional structure of Europe – effectively the creation of an EU superstate, with a parliament comparable in power to the US Congress – is unthinkable in the current political atmosphere.

It would require referenda across Europe, and a two-thirds majority in both houses of the German parliament. “The chances of political union are close to zero,” he said, speaking at the Ambrosetti forum of world policymakers on Lake Como.

If Europe were to jump the gun and force the pace of integration, this would lead to a rogue plenipotentiary with unbridled powers over sensitive issues of national life. “It is hard to see how it could be given democratic accountability,” he said. DNC Head Chokes up Announcing Iran Deal Vote

o-DEBBIE-WASSERMAN-SCHULTZ-facebookThe head of the Democratic Party, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., choked up while discussing her “gut wrenching” decision to vote in favor of the Iran nuclear deal.

“There’s nothing that’s more important to me, as a Jew, than to ensure Israel’s existence is there throughout our generations,” she said Sunday, choking back tears. Wasserman Schultz announced her vote for the deal, which will ease economic sanctions in return for Iran scaling back its nuclear program, on CNN’s “State of the Union” and in an op-ed for the Miami Herald.

Holding back tears, Wasserman Schultz said that in her op-ed, she talks about her “Jewish heart and how important this [decision] was to me … as a Jewish mother.”

“In weighing everything, all the information, I’ve concluded the best thing to do is vote in support of the Iran deal and put Iran years away from being a nuclear state,” she said. The Obama administration secured enough votes this week to ensure the deal will survive efforts to kill it.

In making her decision, Wasserman Schultz met with President Obama, Vice President Biden, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, Secretary of State John Kerry and Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, as well as dozens of intelligence experts. She has been to the Situation Room twenty times in the past two years, she said, and has personally verified with the Obama administration that Iran will have to allow inspectors in to verify that it is scaling back its nuclear capacity and cannot self-inspect. Wikipedia Exposed as a Blackmail Racket That Does This to Small Businesses

Wikipedia-Logo-on-BlackNatural News has long documented the scandal, debauchery and bogusness surrounding the “online encyclopedia” known as Wikipedia – and each time we’ve been proven correct that the media giant is little more than a corrupt operation that has always attempted to downplay or hide its seedy, shady side.

As reported by the UK’s Independent newspaper, hundreds of small British businesses and minor celebrities have been targeted by a high-level blackmail scam that was orchestrated by “rogue editors” at Wikipedia. (Side note: We at Natural News believe if this is happening in Britain, it’s a safe bet to assume it could be happening in others in other nations – just saying.)

The Independent further reported:

The victims, who range from a wedding photographer in Dorset to a high-end jewellery shop in Shoreditch, east London, faced demands for hundreds of pounds to “protect” or update Wikipedia pages about their businesses. A former Britain’s Got Talent contestant was among dozens of individuals targeted.

Wikipedia officials say they have taken action against what the media entity described as the “co-ordinated group” of fraudsters by blocking 381 accounts. They also said that the accounts were controlled by Wikipedia users who had offered to change some articles about companies and private individuals in exchange for money. In some of those cases, requests for money were veiled blackmail threats, Wikipedia said.

Pope Francis: Every Catholic Institution in Europe Needs to Take in One Refugee Family

Pope Francis waves as he leads his weekly audience in Saint Peter's Square at the VaticanIn his most forceful appeal to date, Pope Francis launched an urgent plea Sunday asking all Catholic institutions on Europe to take in one refugee family, beginning with his own diocese of Rome . . .

“Faced with the tragedy of tens of thousands of refugees fleeing from death by war and hunger,” Francis said, “the Gospel calls us, asks us to be ‘neighbors’ to the smallest and abandoned” . . .

“God,” Francis said, “is not closed in on Himself, but opens and connects with humanity. In his great mercy, he exceeds the abyss of the infinite difference between Him and us, and comes to us.”

Citing the Gospel of the day, Francis said that we are often “closed in on ourselves, and we create so many inaccessible and inhospitable islands. Even the most basic human relationships sometimes create situations incapable of reciprocal openness: closed couples, closed families, closed groups, closed parishes, closed nations” . . .

Why Christianity Needs Its Own Yad Vashem

Coptic-Christians-Beheadings-717x450Some years ago, I found myself sitting with New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan in his residence at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, talking about a growing interest we shared in reports of anti-Christian persecution around the world.

At one stage, Dolan — who has a PhD in Church history and is conscious of the power of memory — asked me, “Why don’t we Christians have our own Holocaust literature?”

By that he didn’t mean Christian reflections on the Jewish Shoah, which are already abundant. He was asking why there isn’t a similar body of writing, art, drama, music, and so on inspired by Christianity’s new martyrs.

Why, for instance, isn’t there a “Schindler’s List” about the Christians who perished in Kandhamal, India, in 2008, in the largest orgy of anti-Christian violence of the early 21st century, in that case carried out by radical Hindus? Why isn’t there a “Diary of Anne Frank” for the children of Christian converts from Islam, who are often forced to go into hiding out of fear for their lives?

In general, why don’t Christians tell the stories of their victimization in a fashion compelling enough to make the world take notice? It’s certainly not for lack of raw material, since even low-end estimates hold that a Christian is killed for reasons related to the faith somewhere in the world every two hours. Trump Just Made a Surprise Statement About Kim Davis That’ll Make Many People Furious

donald-trump-630Although many Republican presidential candidates this week defended or praised Kentucky clerk Kim Davis for refusing to violate her faith and principles by issuing licenses to same-sex couples seeking marriage, Donald Trump will not.

“The Supreme Court has ruled,” Trump said Friday. “It is the law of the land.”

Trump’s comments differed sharply from those of GOP candidate Mike Huckabee, who Thursday tweeted his defense of Davis, who has been jailed for her stand.

“Kim Davis in federal custody removes all doubts about the criminalization of Christianity in this country. We must defend ‪#ReligiousLiberty!” Huckabee tweeted.

“I’m a believer in both sides of the picture,” Trump said Friday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Trump said Davis [should] not have become personally involved and could have allowed her deputy clerks to issue the licenses.

“She (Davis) can take a pass and let somebody else in the office do it in terms of religious, so you know, it’s a very … tough situation, but we are a nation, as I said yesterday, we’re a nation of laws,” he said. Oregon Judge Refuses to Perform Same-Sex Marriages, Cites First Amendment Right to Religious Freedom

18683104-mmmainMarion County Circuit Judge Vance Day, a former chairman of the Oregon Republican Party, took steps Thursday to create a legal defense fund in an apparent response to his decision not to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies.

Day took action because of what he described as “deeply-held religious beliefs,” KGW reported.

“It’s an exercise of his religious freedom rights under the First Amendment,” Day spokesman Patrick Korten told the news station.

In recent months, Day has not performed any marriage ceremonies, KGW reported. His courtroom is in Salem . . .

Day noted in an affidavit signed Aug. 19 that he was seeking to establish the fund to defray legal expenses in connection with inquiries by the Oregon Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability involving allegations of violations of the Oregon Code of Judicial Conduct and the Oregon Constitution. Florida Gunmaker Produces Assault Rifle ‘Never to Be Used by Muslim Terrorists’

crusader gun imageA new assault rifle being manufactured in central Florida has drawn fire after the gunmaker branded it the “Crusader” and said it was designed “to never be used by Muslim terrorists.”

Spike’s Tactical in Apopka etched its new $1,395 AR-15 with a Bible verse that says “Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle,” MyFoxOrlando reported.

Company spokesman Ben Thomas, a former Navy SEAL, said the scripture is something of an insurance policy to keep it out of the hands of terrorists. The idea came to him during the weapon’s development. At the time, the U.S. government was preparing to arm rebel groups in Syria . . .

The gun went on sale this week and was quickly denounced by the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Florida, according to MyFoxOrlando.
