Clemson Dining’s “Maximum Mexican” night, has become a student favorite over the last several years, and this year was no different, at first.
Everything was going great. Students were loving the food and festivities. Except for two students, who took to Twitter to voice their displeasure with the school’s decision to host such a “#CUlturallyInsensitive” event.

While a few on Twitter were offended, the overwhelming preponderance of students registered absolutely no reaction at all. The one student who did respond to the Twitter complaints wrote, “I’m offended that you’re offended. #CUfiestafiasco” . . .
“This is something that Clemson Dining has done for years without any sort of backlash. People love the cultural nights in the dining halls,” [Clemson senior Austin] Pendergist said. “What’s next? Are they going to take away all potato based food as to not offend students from Irish decent? Remove the stir fry station so Asian-American students don’t feel as if they are being misrepresented? When does it end?”
The university, however, took a different position. Those Republicans and Democrats running hard for president won’t be the only ones headlining rallies next year in Iowa, New Hampshire and scores of other states . . .
In January, the North Carolina evangelist will embark on what he’s dubbed the “Decision America Tour” – election-year prayer rallies in the capital cities of all 50 states. Covering four or more states a month, he should be on the road until at least Election Day.
Graham, who heads the Charlotte-based Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, explained it this way in a news release: “I do not believe Republicans or Democrats or any other party can turn this nation around – only God can. God hears the prayers of his people, so we’ll be calling on Christians in every state to pray fervently and faithfully for America.”
He’ll also call on them to vote – or, in the words of the news release, “to live and promote biblical principles at home, in public and at the ballot box” . . .
Graham will kick off his 2016 campaign in Iowa, just like those White House wannabes vying in that state’s caucuses. Graham will be in Des Moines on Jan. 5, less than a month before the vote there. On Jan. 19, he’ll speak in Concord in New Hampshire – the state with the first presidential primary, on Feb. 9. The Los Angeles Unified School District has suspended commercial filming on its campuses after local media revealed that film shoots – including one of a pornographic film – disrupted classrooms and damaged school property.
L.A. schools Supt. Ramon C. Cortines authorized the district’s inspector general to examine filming activities after it was discovered that the porn shoot took place at the historic Hamilton High back in 2011.
“It is important that we ensure teaching and learning are not disrupted, and that all filming activity is appropriate for our schools,” Cortines said in a statement released Thursday to the Los Angeles Times. “As an organization responsible for educating students, it is essential that we hold ourselves and our schools to a high standard.”
A local television station reported that permits and district records indicate that producers of the 2012 release, “Revenge of the Petites,” paid cash to film on Hamilton’s campus on two consecutive Saturdays in October 2011 and also filmed a car wash scene featuring public nudity in the school’s parking lot.

With 83 percent of Americans saying they disapprove of the way Congress is doing its job, one might expect presidential candidates and their savvy political teams to keep themselves at a distance.
But even in this year of the outsider — where, from the revolt in the House to the polls in the presidential race, it might appear the strength of the establishment is on the downturn — candidates seeking the highest office in the land are competing for their endorsements in what has been described as the “Invisible Primary.”
On Friday, Sen. Bernard Sanders, the Vermont independent giving establishment favorite Hillary Clinton her biggest challenge for the Democratic nomination, is expected to receive an endorsement from Rep. Raul M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) during a campaign rally in Tucson, Arizona.
Grijalva would be the only congressional lawmaker to endorse Sanders for president so far — a figure dwarfed by the more than 140 members of Congress who have said they are ready for Hillary . . .
Endorsements from members of Congress are an inherent reflection of establishment support, Lynn Vavreck, a professor of political science at the University of California, Los Angeles, wrote for The New York Times’ Upshot blog. But, she added, research suggests that support from political elites is also “the single best predictor” of a candidate’s success. He has made no secret of his political leanings and Kelsey Grammer took to Instagram to get behind another cause close to his heart.
The 60-year-old recently modeled an anti-abortion T-shirt, which likens the procedure to gun deaths, for a social media post.
Grammer, who is best known for playing Dr. Frasier Crane, has previously stated he is an ‘out of the closet Republican’.
The shirt, featuring a handgun graphic, states: ‘Would it bother us more if they used guns? Abort73.com’.

President Obama is on the West coast, making appearances in Oregon, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He is expected to arrive in San Diego Saturday night.
President Obama is scheduled to spend Saturday and Sunday in San Diego, but the reason for the visit remains a bit of a mystery.
The White House has confirmed Air Force One will land around 8 p.m., at Miramar on Saturday with President Obama on board.
There are no planned public appearances while he is in San Diego, but rumor has it, he will be staying in the Rancho Santa Fe area.

The establishment fears an open process for any election because the competition inherent in such a process brings out the truth and the truth hurts their cause. That is why they are seeking to preempt a protracted race for Speaker by clearing the field with Paul Ryan.
Much like the presidential election, whenever the establishment lacks a “next in line” presumptive front-runner, they lose. For the first time in recent memory, the establishment can’t find a viable candidate to run for president. This dynamic has created many choices and robust competition for the presidential nomination. The voters are the beneficiaries of such a process.
This process is set to unfold in the Speaker’s election with multiple choices and the opportunity to force each candidate to address issues and processes important to conservatives. That is why the media and the establishment are working overtime to clear the field for Paul Ryan. That is why Mitt Romney, the very armpit of the system conservatives seek to dismantle, is begging him to run.
Paul Ryan represents one of the absolute worst outcomes for conservatives. There is nobody in modern politics whose record and true priorities are more divorced from their rhetoric and public perception. Unlike McCarthy or some of the other choices, Ryan’s ascendancy to the speakership would be hailed as fresh change. In fact, it would serve nothing more than putting the prettiest face on the ugliest policies. Just take a look at his Liberty Score for a rundown of some of the worst policies Ryan has supported.
While conservatives understand they won’t get everything they want in a Speaker, the worst thing is to perpetuate the current failed leadership structure. In 2010, three House members authored a book titled “Young Guns,” promoting a new “nuanced” conservative agenda: Eric Cantor, Kevin McCarthy, and Paul Ryan. Eric Cantor was defeated, McCarthy was blocked…now they are pulling out all the stops for Ryan. There are many choices from which to choose, but shouldn’t we rule out the TARP coalition?
Ryan has used his leverage and respect to sabotage conservatives on every last budget fight of our time. He forged the Ryan-Murray budget deal, which actually countermanded the few budget victories we’ve had over the past few years. He was a wet blanket over the effort to defund Planned Parenthood. There is nobody in the conference who feels stronger about the need to preemptively announce we will not “default” or “shut down the government” than Ryan.
Despite being widely acclaimed as a social conservative and a devout catholic, Ryan was one of only 35 House Republicans to vote for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). This bill infringed upon religious liberties and promoted liberal values, including the sexual identity agenda.
But no issue is more foundational to our survival than the issue of borders and immigration. Yet, there is nobody around in the party who is more fanatically dedicated to the cause of open borders than Paul Ryan. Whereas most others could be talked off the ledge on this issue, Ryan is a true believer. When asked to comment on Obama’s executive amnesty – the single biggest act of imperialism from a modern president – Ryan said “call my office.”
At a time when we need the next GOP leader to fight another year of Obama’s lawlessness on criminal aliens and dangerous refugee policies, Ryan will give Obama tail winds and could possibly use his respect within the conference to promote these issues.
Nothing threatens the foundation of our Republic than the growing assault on our sovereignty. That is the number one issue of our time. Almost nobody has the ability and desire to score points for the Democrats on this grave issue than Paul Ryan.

Some senior U.S. officials involved in the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal have privately concluded that a key sanctions relief provision – a concession to Iran that will open the doors to tens of billions of dollars in U.S.-backed commerce with the Islamic regime – conflicts with existing federal statutes and cannot be implemented without violating those laws, Fox News has learned.
At issue is a passage tucked away in ancillary paperwork attached to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA, as the Iran nuclear deal is formally known. Specifically, Section 5.1.2 of Annex II provides that in exchange for Iranian compliance with the terms of the deal, the U.S. “shall…license non-U.S. entities that are owned or controlled by a U.S. person to engage in activities with Iran that are consistent with this JCPOA.”
In short, this means that foreign subsidiaries of U.S. parent companies will, under certain conditions, be allowed to do business with Iran. The problem is that the Iran Threat Reduction and Syria Human Rights Act (ITRA), signed into law by President Obama in August 2012, was explicit in closing the so-called “foreign sub” loophole.
Indeed, ITRA also stipulated, in Section 218, that when it comes to doing business with Iran, foreign subsidiaries of U.S. parent firms shall in all cases be treated exactly the same as U.S. firms: namely, what is prohibited for U.S. parent firms has to be prohibited for foreign subsidiaries, and what is allowed for foreign subsidiaries has to be allowed for U.S. parent firms.
What’s more, ITRA contains language, in Section 605, requiring that the terms spelled out in Section 218 shall remain in effect until the president of the United States certifies two things to Congress: first, that Iran has been removed from the State Department’s list of nations that sponsor terrorism, and second, that Iran has ceased the pursuit, acquisition, and development of weapons of mass destruction. Report: U.S. Officials Admit Nuclear Deal With Iran Violates Federal Law

According to ITRA, foreign subsidiaries of American companies are forbidden from doing business with Iran until the President confirms that Iran has been removed from State Department’s list of state sponsors of terrorism and has “ceased the pursuit, acquisition, and development of weapons of mass destruction.” Iran is still on the terror sponsors list, as it has been since 1984. The Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which passed the Senate 98-1 and was signed into law in May, also stipulated that Iran’s continued listing as a state sponsor of terror means that the requirements have not been met for Iran to receive the sanctions relief required by the JCPOA.

The Justice Department is set to release about 6,000 inmates early from prison — the largest one-time release of federal prisoners — in an effort to reduce overcrowding and provide relief to drug offenders who received harsh sentences over the past three decades, according to U.S. officials.
The inmates from federal prisons nationwide will be set free by the department’s Bureau of Prisons between Oct. 30 and Nov. 2. About two-thirds of them will go to halfway houses and home confinement before being put on supervised release. About one-third are foreign citizens who will be quickly deported, officials said.
The early releases follow action by the U.S. Sentencing Commission — an independent agency that sets sentencing policies for federal crimes — that reduced the potential punishment for future drug offenders last year and then made that change retroactive.
The commission’s action is separate from an effort by President Obama to grant clemency to certain nonviolent drug offenders, an initiative that has resulted in the early release of 89 inmates.
The panel estimated that its change in sentencing guidelines eventually could result in 46,000 of the nation’s approximately 100,000 drug offenders in federal prison qualifying for early release.
