Sanders Attacks Hillary, Says She’s Running a ‘Desperate’ Campaign That Lacks Excitement

When Bernie Sanders entered the presidential race last spring, he was considered a fringe figure — an unapologetic independent whose “political revolution” would eschew campaign customs and center around his liberal agenda.

Now, with an upset over Hillary Clinton in next Monday’s Iowa caucuses potentially within his grasp, Sanders has emerged as a more combative — and in some ways, more conventionally political — candidate . . .

He also is attacking Clinton more directly, not only on policy differences but also on personal character, demonstrating that he has both the stomach and the punch for a political brawl — even one against the Clintons and their defenders.

The Sanders pivot was evident in an interview with The Washington Post on Saturday as he flew on a chartered jet — itself a change for a candidate who used to fold himself into the middle seats of Southwest Airlines planes — from his home in Burlington, Vt., to Iowa for his final week of campaigning here . . .

Over the course of The Post interview, Sanders said Clinton was running a “desperate” campaign incapable of generating the kind of excitement his has. He raised questions about her motives and character. He said he expects Clinton and her campaign to “throw the kitchen sink” at him in the coming week in what he described as a craven attempt to avoid an embarrassing loss in Iowa. Palestinian Authority Official Praises Hitler as ‘Daring’ for Annihilating Jews

“Let us talk logically. Hitler was not morally corrupt. He was daring,” Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi tells host of Palestinian television show, who cuts him off saying that “it would be a pity to be put in jail because of this interview.”

A Palestinian Authority official praised Adolf Hitler as “daring” in a recent television interview, Palestinian Media Watch reported on Wednesday.

Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Tirawi also told the host of a Palestinian television show on Saturday that the genocidal Nazi leader “was not morally corrupt” for the killing of six million Jews.

The host of the program cut Tirawi off immediately, saying he preferred not “to be put in jail” over the interview . . .

In 2014, Tirawi called on Palestinians to embark on a violent uprising in the West Bank and resume their “armed resistance.” (Read more from “Palestinian Authority Official Praises Hitler as ‘Daring’ for Annihilating Jews” HERE)

Warning: The Rainbow Jihad Won’t Be Letting up in 2016

It already seems clear that 2016 isn’t going to just lay down and let 2015 be the most heinous year for assaults against religious liberty since the Salem Witch Trials.

Gotta hand it to the pagans. They know how to put their foot on the gas and keep it there when the on-ramp says “highway to hell straight ahead.”

The United States Department of Education has determined that religious taxpayers who pay the salaries of its employees need to be set aside for a special dose of Orwellian hazing. See, the Marxists’ plan on affixing scarlet letters—Christian schools that receive federal money will have their waivers for refusing to participate in the Rainbow Jihad posted online for public view.

In other words, conveniently listed for Rainbow Jihad target practice.

Sure, such a federal exemption was explicitly provided by a vote of Congress back in 1972, and there’s also that whole First Amendment thing to consider as well, but whatever, you bigot. Welcome to the intelligentsia’s black list! Joseph McCarthy called and said he wants his cowbell back.

Sadly, though, this new tactic isn’t even coming as a result of the latest rogue decision by a U.S. district court, but through nothing more than the encouragement of eight U.S. senators—Ron Wyden, Tammy Baldwin, Barbara Boxer, Al Franken, Edward Markey, Jeff Merkley, Patty Murray, and socialist-in-chief/presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.

You mean you want to rob the country blind AND round up Christians for ritualistic shaming, Bernie? No wonder you are storming ahead in the polls among Democrats. That’s the leftist Full Monty right there.

And with brainwashed quislings like the Department of Education’s assistant secretary for civil rights, Catherine Lhamon, on your side, who needs accountability?

Otherwise known as “a basic search tool so that applicants, students, parents, and others can be better informed about which educational institutions have sought and/or received a religious exemption.”

Tyranny has never sounded so antiseptic and efficient. In fact, even America’s homeless population can’t escape the Rainbow Jihad’s bureaucratic blitzkrieg. I mean, did you think the progressives over at the Department of Housing and Urban Development were actually going to just lay down and let the educrats take the award for “Insufferable Public Servant of the Year” without a fight?

Those folks want to get rid of the rule that allows temporary emergency shelters to take sex into account when providing shared sleeping areas or bathrooms. Yep, as if the homeless don’t have it bad enough, now the women whose lives are in total disarray may also have to share close quarters with the guy who can’t get a job or stay sober but is absolutely certain he looks fantastic in the same blouse.

I know you may have no idea where your next meal is coming from, but you, too, will be made to care.

And not to be outdone, the feminist scolds over at the U.S. Navy are reviewing a proposal to take the “man” out of “midshipman” because a former female Marine Corps pilot said the change is needed so women feel welcome. After all, how am I supposed to focus on killing the enemy with so many trigger words floating around that make me want to kill my fellow American? C’mon, sailor, where’s my safe space?

But where, o where, does all this attention to detail go when it comes to responsibilities that are actually under the federal government’s constitutional umbrella, like enforcing our border? I know, queue up the laugh track.

Not only did Senate Democrats move to block legislation last week that would impose more stringent background checks on Syrian refugees, but the Washington Times reported the federal government doesn’t investigate 99 percent of the roughly 500,000 illegal immigrants who entered the country legally but overstayed their visas in 2015.

Among those who overstayed are thousands from countries connected with terrorism. But who cares. Your government has made its priorities clear.

It has Christians to hunt. (For more from the author of “Warning: The Rainbow Jihad Won’t Be Letting up in 2016” please click HERE)

Government Seeks Authority to ‘Determine What Is Sin’

By Bob Unruh. In its Supreme Court battle over Obamacare’s abortion-pill mandate, the government wants to “determine what is in fact a sin,” contends a religious-rights legal group.

The high court has agreed to hear the case of the Denver-based Little Sisters of the Poor nuns, who refused to comply with the requirement that the insurance policies for their employees cover abortion pills.

The nuns have refused to sign over the responsibility to their insurance company, arguing it also would be a violation of their faith to facilitate someone else committing a sin.

Now a friend-of-the-court brief submitted by the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of dozens of clients charges the government is seeking to become the arbiter of religious beliefs.

The group’s chief counsel, Richard Thompson, called the mandate “a monumental attack on religious liberty.” (Read more from “Government Seeks Authority to ‘Determine What Is Sin'” HERE)

Thomas More Law Center: The Supreme Court is NOT the Arbiter of Sacred Scripture

The Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, yesterday, filed a friend of the court brief in the case of Zubik v. Burwell, in support of seven non-profit organizations including the Little Sisters of the Poor who claim they cannot comply with the Department of Health and Human Services’ mandate (“HHS Mandate”) because even the so called “accommodations” make them actively complicit in the sin of abortion. TMLC’s brief asserts that the Court is not the arbiter of sacred Scripture and, therefore, cannot determine whether or not an act constitutes a sin; it can only determine whether the government’s penalties for refusal to complete the sinful act are a substantial burden on religious liberty.

Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of TMLC, portrays this case as a potential turning point in American legal history, stating, “The HHS Mandate is a monumental attack on religious liberty. If this appeal is lost, the government becomes the head of every religious denomination in the country by its assumed authority to determine what is in fact a sin.”

The HHS Mandate requires religious non-profit organizations to participate in a government scheme to provide free contraceptives, including abortion causing drugs and devices (abortifacients), to their employees or face monumental fines that would result in closing the doors of most non-profit organizations that object to the HHS Mandate.

However, the HHS Mandate allows non-profit organizations like the Little Sisters to receive a so-called accommodation from directly providing free contraceptives and abortifacients to their employees. The accommodation requires the non-profit organizations to either (1) fill out a form as notice of their objection to contraceptives and abortifacients and provide that form to their insurers, which includes language instructing the insurers to provide free contraceptives and abortifacients to the women in the non-profits’ health plans, or (2) write and send a detailed letter to HHS with all of the information necessary to notify the non-profits’ insurers of their newfound obligation to provide free contraceptives and abortifacients to the women in the non-profits’ health plans.

These notification requirements trigger the non-profits’ insurers to provide free contraceptives and abortifacients to the women in the non-profits’ health plans. This notification requirement makes the non profits complicit in the provision of a service that they find sinful, thereby causing them to sin themselves.

TMLC’s brief argues, supported by a long line of Supreme Court precedent, that neither the government nor the Supreme Court can determine whether an act does or does not violate a person’s religious beliefs. Rather, the Supreme Court must accept the non-profits’ assertions that the notification requirement is indeed against their religion. To accept otherwise is to supplant the Church and the Bible with the government, allowing the Supreme Court and the government to interpret tenants of faith. This slippery slope would subject all religious exercise to the whim of the government’s approval.

See excerpts of the brief HERE explaining that the government seeks authority to define sin and why that is constitutionally impermissible.

New HHS Documents Reveal Security Concerns, Healthcare.gov Had No ‘Authorization to Operate’

[Earlier this week,] Judicial Watch released over 1,000 pages of new documents that show federal health care officials knew that the Obamacare website, when it launched in 2013, did not have the required “authorization to operate” (ATO) from agency information security officials. These documents, obtained from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), come in two productions of records: a 143-page production and an 886-page production. The email records reveal that HHS officials had significant concerns about the security of the Healthcare.gov site leading up to its October 1, 2013, launch.

Judicial Watch obtained the HHS documents in response to a court order in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (No. 1:14-cv-00430)). The lawsuit was filed in March 2014, after HHS failed to respond to a December 20, 2013, FOIA request seeking the following information:

All records related to the security of the healthcare.gov web portal including, but not limited to, studies, memoranda, correspondence, electronic communications (e-mails), and slide presentations from January 1, 2012 to the present.

On September 21, 2013, 10 days before the launch of the Obamacare website, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Information Security Officer Tom Schankweiler discussed with Deputy Chief Information Officer Henry Chao 17 initial “moderate” security issues findings and two “high” security issues. Two high findings and 3 moderate findings were resolved, according to the documents. The emails also show that a separate security analysis found 17 “high” security issues, prompting Chao to ask, “What are we actually signing off on…?” Schankweiler responded that the numerous security issues resulted in CMS Security Officer Teresa Fryer’s refusing to approve the “ATO” (Authorization to Operate), something he indicated he found out belatedly.

The documents also show that on September 30, 2013, the day before the website launch, Blue Canopy, a contractor that was testing the security of the Healthcare.gov system, reported that the “parsing engine did not properly handle specially crafted messages.” The vendor added, “As a result, consumption of these messages would cause the service to crash.” (Read more from “New HHS Documents Reveal Security Concerns, Healthcare.gov Had No ‘Authorization to Operate'” HERE)

Magnitude-7.1 Earthquake in Alaska [+videos]

The U.S. Geological survey reported a powerful earthquake – 162 miles (261 km) southwest of Anchorage, Alaska – which struck around 1:30 a.m. local time Sunday morning, January 24, 2016. It is being variously reported as a 7.1-magnitude and a 6.8-magnitude; USGS is saying 7.1 at this time. There were no immediate reports of injuries, although the quake did reportedly knock items off shelves and walls, and rattle nerves as you can see in the video below. A magnitude-4.3 aftershock struck about two hours later.

Ben Madrid posted this video to YouTube. He began recording about 20 seconds into the earthquake, until about 5 seconds after the peak magnitude, in Kenai Alaska.

The affected region of Alaska is located on what is called the ring of fire around the Pacific Ocean, and thus it is well known for earthquakes. USGS said the quake occurred as a result of the movement of great land plates, called tectonic plates, explaining:

In the region of the earthquake, the Pacific plate moves northwestward with respect to North America at a rate of [2.4 inches or] 60 mm/yr, and begins its decent into the mantle at the Alaska-Aleutian Trench almost [250 miles or] 400 km to the southeast of this earthquake …

ISIS Releases New Video Showing Paris Attackers Committing Previous Atrocities

By Associated Press. New video released by the Islamic State group on Sunday shows the extremists who carried out the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris committing atrocities in IS-controlled territory while plotting the slaughter in the French capital that left 130 people dead and hundreds injured. The group also threatened to attack Britain.

The 17-minute video shows the extent of the planning that went into the multiple attacks in Paris, which French authorities have said from the beginning was planned in Syria. The video was provided online by the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors jihadi websites.

All nine militants seen in the video died in the Paris attacks or their aftermath. Seven of the attackers — four from Belgium and three from France — spoke fluent French. The two others — identified by their noms de guerre as Iraqis — spoke in Arabic. (Read more from “ISIS Releases New Video Showing Paris Attackers Committing Previous Atrocities” HERE)

Drug Shortages in American Emergency Rooms Have Increased More Than 400 Percent

Emergency rooms are health care’s front line – in the United States, nearly 45 out of 100 people visit an ER in any given year. But there’s an issue brewing behind the scenes in emergency medical facilities, one that can’t be fixed by a simple stitch or bandage. A new study published in the journal Academic Emergency Medicine shows that drug shortages in ERs across the United States increased by more than 400 percent between 2001 and 2014.

The study analyzed data from the University of Utah Drug Information Service, which receives drug shortage reports submitted through a public site administered by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Two practicing emergency room physicians assessed whether the reported shortages had to do with drugs used in ERs, then looked at whether they were associated with lifesaving or acute conditions.

Of the nearly 1,800 drug shortages reported between 2001 and 2014, nearly 34 percent were used in emergency rooms. More than half (52.6 percent) of all reported shortages were of lifesaving drugs, and 10 percent of shortages affected drugs with no substitute. The most common drugs on shortage are used to treat infectious diseases, relieve pain, and treat patients who have been poisoned. Though the number of shortages fell between 2002 and 2007, they’ve risen by 435 percent between 2008 and 2014.

That’s nothing less than a public health crisis, said Jesse Pines, director of the office for clinical practice innovation at George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences and the study’s senior author. Shortages “are real, they’re happening, and they’re getting worse,” he said. Pines, who practices emergency medicine, said that though emergency rooms are implementing things like providing posters with quick alternative drug options, there’s no obvious way to cut shortages. Niagara Falls Is Going to Go Dry – Again

New York State plans to shut off the thundering waters of Niagara Falls – again. At least, the American side of the falls. This “once in a lifetime” event actually may take place twice in some folks’ lifetimes. The New York State parks system wants to turn off the falls on the American side sometime in the next two to three years to replace two 115-year-old stone arch bridges that allow pedestrians, park vehicles and utilities access to Goat Island.

The proposal to “dewater” the falls will be presented at a public hearing Wednesday at the Niagara Falls Conference Center. Two of three plans propose a temporary shutdown of the American Falls.

The American Falls was slowed to a trickle in 1969 to study the effects of erosion and buildup of rock at the base of the falls. When that happened, people came from all over the world to see the falls turned off, said Michelle Kratts, who served as Niagara Falls city historian until this past December . . .

In fact, something like skeletons were found. Workers on that project discovered two bodies when the water was diverted, she said.

They also found millions of coins, carrying them out in buckets to deter people from going out onto the rocks, she said. (Read more from “Niagara Falls Is Going to Go Dry – Again” HERE)

Hillary Attacked Palin After Trump Endorsement – Sarah Just Made That Backfire BIG Time

As soon as Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Donald Trump was official, Hillary Clinton tried to use the occasion to criticize both Trump and Palin.

But Palin immediately showed Clinton why the attack backfired.

Palin appeared on stage with Trump at a rally at Iowa State University in Ames and came out full force for the GOP frontrunner. The former Alaska governor and one-time GOP candidate for vice president showed enthusiastic support for the real estate mogul, calling him a “compassionate,” “refreshing” and “self-made” man who would bring the country back from the mess President Obama made . . .

On her Facebook page, Clinton’s staff wrote: “Sarah Palin’s got Trump’s back.” The posting also said if Clinton’s supporters want to keep Republicans like Trump and Palin out of the White House, then they should sign up for Clinton’s Facebook updates . . .

It's what you do for deserving public servants, Hillary, so darn right we'll have our next President's back… better…

Posted by Sarah Palin on Wednesday, 20 January 2016

Now, Palin has made herself famous and kept herself relevant with her own social media posts with a quick reply to Clinton’s Facebook slam. (Read more from “Hillary Attacked Palin After Trump Endorsement – Sarah Just Made That Backfire BIG Time” HERE)
