‘Betrayal’ — Left-Wingers Furious With Democrats’ Support for Pro-Life Candidates

The Democratic party is facing a revolt from the left after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chairman said the party would back pro-life candidates in 2018.

The DCCC chairman, Rep. Ben Ray Lujan, told The Hill that there will not be “a litmus test” for candidates on the subject of abortion. Lujan’s comments come as Democrats attempt to rebuild a broken party that has hemorrhaged elected offices on both the state and national level.

Lujan’s comments sparked immediate outrage from left-wingers.

“I’m afraid I’ll be with holding support for the DCCC if this is true,” said former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, whose name was briefly floated this year as a candidate for DNC chair. (Read more from “‘Betrayal’ — Left-Wingers Furious With Democrats’ Support for Pro-Life Candidates” HERE)

This Is the Poll Number That Should Have Trump Worried

President Donald Trump has a 39 percent approval rating in a Rasmussen Reports poll released Monday. It is the first time Trump has dipped below 40 percent approval in the Rasmussen poll, which has consistently been more favorable to Trump than other polls.

The poll shows that 39 percent of likely voters approve of Trump’s job performance, while 61 percent of likely voters disapprove. The poll showed that 49 percent of voters strongly disapprove of his presidency, while 26 percent strongly approve.

The findings come after Senate Republicans failed to pass health care reform and as the White House has a staff shake-up. The House of Representatives did pass partial funding for Trump’s border wall last week, and the stock market remains robust. GOP Establishment’s Nightmare: Senator Roy Moore?

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has had trouble pulling his GOP ranks together for almost any issue lately.

True, the senators did approve Neil Gorsuch for the U.S. Supreme Court, but on Obamacare, and a number of other issues, there just hasn’t been a lot of success in reaching unanimity.

It’s partly because he’s working with liberals like Sen. John McCain, who just last week torpedoed an effort to fix some of the more egregious mandate problems with Obamacare. And with conservatives like Sens. Ted Cruz and Rand Paul, who frequently lobby for positions of less government, lower taxes and just-let-people-run-their-own-lives.

So imagine adding to that mix a senator who’s been a state Supreme Court chief justice, a well-known and respected leader in his own state, a man who’s documented that he’s intimidated by no one – and someone who describes Islam as a “false religion,” says emphatically that marriage is between one man and one woman and believes – publicly – that America is a nation that owes its founding and survival so far to Almighty God . . .

That’s a very real possibility because the among the nine candidates for the GOP nomination to replace Sen. Jeff Sessions, named by President Trump to be attorney general and still there despite disagreements between the two, is former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore. Man ‘Marries’ His Laptop, Sues for State Recognition and a Wedding Cake

Chris Sevier says that if same-sex couples are able to get married and demand that Christian bakers make them wedding cakes, then he should be allowed to marry his laptop and demand a cake to celebrate the union between one man and one machine.

The self-identified “machinist” says he married his laptop in a ceremony in New Mexico, and now he has sued to demand that a Colorado baker — who is already in court after refusing to bake for a same-sex marriage — must be compelled to make cakes for him and his computer “bride.” He also has filed a lawsuit demanding that Utah recognize his man-object marriage.

It’s the latest battlefront in an increasingly thorny area of law, after the U.S. Supreme Court in 2015 established a constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

While legal analysts said the case is a stretch, a judge in Utah has allowed part of that lawsuit to proceed, and analysts concede that Mr. Sevier’s claims get to the heart of how far the 2015 Obergefell ruling stretches when it comes to nontraditional unions.

“If marriage based on self-asserted sex-based identity narratives is a ‘fundamental right,’ ‘individual right,’ ‘existing right,’ based on a ‘personal choice’ for homosexuals, then clearly it is also a ‘fundamental right,’ ‘individual right,’ ‘existing right,’ based on a ‘personal choice’ for polygamists, zoophiles and machinists,” Mr. Sevier and several self-identified polygamists said in their lawsuit against Masterpiece Cakeshop, the Colorado baker they are challenging. Verdict in for Sheriff Joe Arpaio

Former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio was found guilty of contempt Monday for disobeying a judge’s order to stop detaining illegal immigrants, raising the possibility of a jail sentence for the lawman once known as “America’s toughest sheriff.”

U.S. District Court Judge Susan Bolton issued her verdict a few weeks three weeks after the trial ended July 6, with sentencing scheduled for Oct. 5.

The former sheriff has long been a hero of the border-security movement, drawing headlines for having inmates live in a tent city and wear pink underwear as well as his fight against illegal immigration

He said the judge “violated the United States Constitution by issuing her verdict without even reading it to the defendant in public court. Her verdict is contrary to what every single witness testified in the case. Arpaio believes that a jury would have found in his favor, and that it will.”

Mr. Arpaio, 85, who served as sheriff for 24 years before losing his seventh bid for office in November, faces a maximum six months in jail at his Oct. 5 sentencing, but court watchers say the judge is unlikely to put him behind bars, given his age. Airport Employee Punches an Passenger Who Was Holding a Baby

Airport officials in Nice, France, have confirmed that an employee at the Nice Airport has been suspended after punching a passenger who was holding a baby at the time.

The altercation took place on Saturday, as passengers waited to board an EasyJet flight to Luton, England. According to witnesses, the passenger’s wife had been complaining about the flight’s significant delay — more than 12 hours — when her husband approached another airport employee and the exchange turned physical.

“The man with the baby … went over and talked to the Frenchman and the Frenchman didn’t reply, he just smiled and smirked and then whacked this guy on the left side of his face,” said Arabella Arkwright, an EasyJet passenger standing behind the family, in an interview with BBC Radio 5.

Arkwright also took a photo of the altercation, which appears to capture the exact moment the employee’s fist makes contact with the man’s face.

I Was Once Transgender. Why I Think Trump Made the Right Decision for the Military.

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump tweeted that he wouldn’t allow transgender individuals to serve in the military:

I think he made the right decision—and as someone who lived as trans-female for several years, I should know.

When I discovered Congress voted earlier this month to not block funding for transgender-related hormone therapies and sex change surgeries, I wondered if it considered how devastating this will be to the fitness, readiness, and morale of our combat-ready troops.

In July, the House of Representatives voted down Missouri Republican Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act, which would have banned the military from funding such treatments.

Paying for transition-related surgeries for military service members and their families is beyond comprehensible.

Perhaps they have forgotten that our military was forged to be the world’s strongest fighting force, not a government-funded, politically correct, medical sex change clinic for people with gender dysphoria.

Gender dysphoria, the common diagnosis for one who feels at odds with his or her birth gender, develops from prolonged anxiety and depression. People are not born that way.

The “proof” for a diagnosis of gender dysphoria is having strongly held feelings—but feelings can and often do change over time.

The military is expected to prepare its members in warfare: to kill, destroy, and break our enemies. The most important factors in preparing a strong military are not hormone therapy, surgical sex changes, or politically correct education.

We need psychologically fit, emotionally sound, highly trained troops to protect our nation from its enemies.

While countless homeless vets are currently sleeping under cardboard boxes, or waiting for life-saving care from the Department of Veterans Affairs, we learn that transgender military recruits now qualify for preferential coverage for sex change procedures that are scientifically unproven and extremely costly.

I myself was fully sex-reassigned from male to female, and eventually came to accept my birth gender.

I have over 70 years of firsthand life experience, eight years of living as a woman, 20 years of researching the topic, and 12 years of helping others who, like me, found that transitioning and reassignment surgery failed to be proper treatment and want to restore their lives to their birth gender.

Costly, but Not Effective

Transitioning can be expensive—up to $130,000 per person for numerous body-mutilating and cosmetic procedures over many months (or years) to fashion the body to appear as the opposite sex.

Yet, no matter how skilled the surgeon, or how much money is spent, it is biologically impossible to change a man into a woman or a woman into a man. The change is only cosmetic.

The medical community continues to recommend this radical “treatment” in the absence of scientific evidence that people are better off in the long run. This population attempts suicide at a rate of 40 percent.

Even after the full surgical change, they attempt to end their lives, or tragically succeed.

Over 60 percent of this diverse population suffer from co-existing mental disorders. Consider Bradley Manning (now Chelsea Manning), a former Army soldier who was so psychologically and emotionally unbalanced that he stole confidential documents from the military and forwarded them to WikiLeaks.

The Military Is a Fighting Force, Not a Gender Clinic

The military should not provide sex change surgery.

Through my website, sexchangeregret.com, I hear from people who experienced firsthand how damaging and unnecessary reassignment surgeries were. For them, the sex change failed to resolve the emotional and psychological disorders that drove the desire to change gender.

Many write after living the transgender life for years. They write to ask for advice on how to reverse the original surgical change and restore their lives to the original birth gender like I did, a process called detransition.

Some service members will come to regret having undergone the surgery and will want to detransition. Where will the military be then? Will the military pay for the sex change reversal procedure, too?

Failed “sex change surgeries” are not uncommon and will drive up the cost to care for the military transgender population above the projected $3-4 billion 10-year cost.

Beyond the financial cost, there’s the question of the service member’s military readiness during their transition or detransition, as the process often comes with a great deal of anxiety and emotional instability.

I know of many who have struggled to adapt to the new gender role for years after reassignment surgery.

In my view, as a former trans-female who works every day with regretters, allowing the military to pay for sex change surgeries will make a mockery of the U.S. military.

Advocates are relentless in their pursuit of making others, via the government and insurance companies, cover the cost of sex change procedures.

If the military had been forced to pay, the advocates would have used this as leverage to press every other entity—both government and commercial—to pay for sex change surgeries as well.

As a person who lived the transgender life for eight years, I can attest that assisting, affirming, or paying for hormone therapies and genital mutilation surgeries would not have strengthened our military. They would only have brought adverse long-term consequences, both for individuals and for our armed forces as a whole. (For more from the author of “I Was Once Transgender. Charlie Gard Dies in Hospice Care

The parents of 11-month-old British baby Charlie Gard said Friday their terminally ill son has died after being moved to a hospice.

Gard had become the subject of a bitter legal fight between his parents, Connie Yates and Chris Gard, and Great Ormond Street Hospital in London over whether he could be taken to the United States to receive experimental treatment.

Gard’s parents dropped their legal fight after the doctor who had originally offered the treatment said it was too late for it to work.

“Our beautiful little boy has gone, we are so proud of you Charlie,” Yates said in a statement.

Gard was diagnosed with a mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, an extremely rare condition that causes a loss of motor skills due to muscle weakness. As the disease progressed, Gard was left with extensive brain damage and no hope of recovery.

The London hospital caring for Gard contended that the baby’s condition had deteriorated beyond the point of treatment, and said he should be removed from life support so he could die with dignity.

British and European courts sided with the hospital, denying Gard’s parents from taking him to the U.S. for treatment.

His parents announced Monday they had dropped their efforts to bring Gard to the U.S. for experimental treatment.

“Poor Charlie. It is too late. The damage has been done. Sadly time has run out,” the lawyer for Gard’s parents said Monday. “Sadly the window of opportunity no longer exists. The parents have taken an extremely hard decision.”

On Tuesday, Gard’s parents asked to bring their son home to die, but that request too was blocked by the hospital, which said the infant’s ventilator would not fit through the door of his parents home.

“We promised Charlie every day we would take him home. It seems really upsetting, after everything we’ve been through, to deny us this,” his mother said Tuesday.

Gard’s parents instead asked that their son be sent to a hospice for a few days of “tranquility” before his life support was removed.

Many on social media expressed their condolences over Gard’s passing.

The baby died one week before his first birthday. (For more from the author of “Charlie Gard Dies in Hospice Care” please click HERE)

Adam Carolla Drops Politically Incorrect Truth Bomb About Family

Testifying before Congress Thursday on the state of free speech on college campuses, comedian and filmmaker Adam Carolla made a profound observation that will doubtlessly please social conservatives.

Asked by Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., what Washington D.C. can do to help stand up for free speech, Carolla described the root of our free speech and intolerance problems and said intact families are the best guarantor of a peaceful and happy civil society.

“I hosted a show called Loveline for over a decade, and I had a very unique perspective because I was able to talk to troubled kids, teenagers, two hours a night for a decade. And I really got to learn something about young people and how they work, and what works and what doesn’t work,” Carolla began.

“And I learned that all of these problems that we’re talking about – free speech, discrimination, hatred toward other people, and drug addiction, violence, crime – it all stems from the family. And when the family is intact, much of this stuff just goes away, you don’t have to legislate it away. It just goes away because people are brought up in intact families with decent caring parents, whatever their color, whatever their background is, and then they produce little decent individuals who go off to college or a job, place of work, and they don’t need to be coached up, and they don’t need to be legislated, and they don’t need bloviated by people like us. They grew up in an intact family.”

“My feeling is all the stuff we’re talking about is at the outside of the rim, the hub is the family. And the discussions should center around the family and who is creating these people who think it’d be a good idea to take a baseball bat to the window of a Starbucks in their community,” he concluded. Here’s What It Might Look Like If the US Shot Down a North Korean Missile

The Department of Defense has released video footage of Sunday’s test of a U.S. missile defense system.

The U.S. military conducted a test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system Sunday. A THAAD battery located at the Pacific Spaceport Complex Alaska in Kodiak, Alaska, detected, tracked, and intercepted a medium-range ballistic missile air-launched from a U.S. Air Force C-17 over the Pacific Ocean. Sunday’s test was the second successful test of the THAAD anti-missile system this month.

The U.S. began deploying THAAD in South Korea in March after North Korea launched a salvo of Scud missiles into the East Sea/Sea of Japan. The new South Korean government, after a period of initial hesitation and concern, is requesting additional THAAD batteries as the threat from its nuclear neighbor grows.
