Conjoined Twins ‘Fantastic’ After Separation

Like any new parents, Heather and Riley Delaney are excited to see their babies hitting developmental milestones.

But for 15-month-old twins Abby and Erin, who were fused at the tops of their heads until June, even the tiniest hints of progress win tears and applause.

“Look at Abby holding her head up!” occupational therapist Ashley Binkowski said recently as she helped the baby sit on a mat at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “That takes abdominal control on this soft surface.” . . .

Heather, who has not been home to Mooresville, N.C., since she was 26 weeks pregnant, is keenly aware that the road ahead may be tough, especially for Abby, who lost part of a vital cranial blood vessel she once shared with her sister. But if the hurdles are high, so are the hopes.

“Babies have brain plasticity, which means their brains can overcome a lot,” Heather said. “The doctors have a lot of hope for what the girls can do. But we won’t really know what kind of deficits they have until they’re about 3. For now, they’re doing fantastic.” (Read more from “Conjoined Twins ‘Fantastic’ After Separation” HERE)

Federal Judge Refuses to Erase Joe Arpaio’s Conviction Despite Trump Pardon

A federal judge on Thursday shot down former sheriff Joe Arpaio’s bid to sweep his criminal record clean.

Arpaio, the controversial former lawman in Arizona’s Maricopa County, was granted a pardon by President Trump on Aug. 25. He had been found guilty of criminal contempt of a federal court order after a five-day bench trial earlier this year and faced the possibility of up to six months in jail. After the pardon, the 85-year-old Arpaio petitioned the court to clear his record and prevent the ruling from being used in future litigation.

The case raised the novel question of how far a presidential pardon actually reaches.

In her ruling, U.S. District Judge Susan R. Bolton said the pardon only freed Arpaio from possible punishment. In a four-page order offering a check on the president’s executive power, Bolton wrote that a pardon could not erase the facts of the case. Papers Filed to Disbar James Comey Following ‘False Testimony to Congress’

Ty Clevenger, the “crusading lawyer” who has been trying for months to get Hillary and several members of her campaign staff disbarred in every jurisdiction from Little Rock, Arkansas to New York, has now set his sights on a new target: Former FBI Director James Comey. According to the Washington Times, Clevenger filed a bar grievance in New York this week accusing Comey of lying to Congress and destroying potential evidence in the Clinton email scandal, in a process that could end up costing him his law license.

Ty Clevenger filed the grievance in New York, where Mr. Comey was a former U.S. attorney and is licensed to practice law.

Mr. Clevenger said Mr. Comey’s testimony to Congress that he did not predetermine the outcome of the FBI’s probe into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is belied by revelations this week that he in fact started drafting an exoneration months before even speaking with Mrs. Clinton.

“Insofar as Mr. Comey gave materially false testimony to Congress, it appears that he violated Rules 1.0(w), 3.3(a)(1), and 8.4 of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct,” Mr. Clevenger wrote.

Clevenger also asked to renew grievances in New York against former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, saying that Comey’s claim that she tried to pressure him to downplay the Clinton probe should subject her to scrutiny. After Six Tests, the Mountain Hosting North Korea’s Nuclear Blasts May Be Exhausted

Have North Korea’s nuclear tests become so big that they have altered the geological structure of the land? Some analysts now see signs that Mount Mantap, the 7,200-foot-high peak under which North Korea detonates its nuclear bombs, is suffering from “tired mountain syndrome.”

The mountain visibly shifted during the last nuclear test, an enormous detonation that was recorded as a 6.3-magnitude earthquake in North Korea’s northeast. Since then, the area, which is not known for natural seismic activity, has had three more quakes . . .

Chinese scientists already have warned that further nuclear tests could cause the mountain to collapse and release the radiation from the blast.

North Korea has conducted six nuclear tests since 2006, all of them in tunnels burrowed deep under Mount Mantap at a site known as the Punggye-ri Nuclear Test Facility. Intelligence analysts and experts alike use satellite imagery to keep close track of movement at the three entrances to the tunnels for signals that a test might be coming. U.S. Fiscal Year Deficit Widens to $666 Billion

The U.S. budget deficit widened to $666 billion for the fiscal year 2017 as record spending more than offset record receipts, the Treasury Department said on Friday.

The 2017 deficit increased to 3.5 percent of gross domestic product. The previous fiscal year deficit was $586 billion, with a deficit-to-GDP ratio of 3.2 percent.

The latest fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, straddled the presidencies of Barack Obama, a Democrat, and Donald Trump, a Republican.

Accounting for calendar adjustments, the 2017 fiscal year deficit was $644 billion compared with $546 billion the prior year.

Fiscal 2017 revenues increased 1 percent to $3.315 trillion, while spending rose 3 percent to $3.981 trillion. (Read more from “U.S. Fiscal Year Deficit Widens to $666 Billion” HERE)

Court Delays Abortion for Illegal Alien Teen

A D.C. appeals court decided Friday that an illegal-alien teen cannot be denied an abortion but ordered the federal government to find her a private sponsor to ensure the government doesn’t facilitate the procedure.

The court gave the government until Oct. 31 to find a sponsor for the 17-year-old, referred to in court as Jane Doe. The teen was detained in Texas Sept. 7 after crossing the border and has been in custody of a Department of Health and Human Services-funded shelter in the state.

The government’s appeal was in response to an order Wednesday by a lower-court judge to carry out the procedure by Saturday.

While minors who reside in Texas are required to obtain parental consent to get abortions in the state of Texas, District Judge Tanya Chutkan agreed the illegal-alien teen had a “constitutional right” to the procedure.

Federal officials had refused to allow Doe, who is currently 15 weeks pregnant, to leave the detention center and go to a clinic. (Read more from “Court Delays Abortion for Illegal Alien Teen” HERE)

Democrat Launches Trump Impeachment Campaign

Billionaire investor and Democratic backer Tom Steyer has launched a national campaign calling for President Donald Trump’s impeachment, only nine months into the president’s term.

Steyer started the “Need to Impeach” initiative on Friday with an ad calling on Americans to urge their members of Congress to vote the president out of office. In a statement, the organization said it would launch an “eight-figure” television ad purchase and a “seven-figure” digital buy.

In a video, Steyer called Trump “a clear and present danger who is mentally unstable and armed with nuclear weapons.” He accuses the president of taking the U.S. “to the brink of nuclear war” and obstructing justice by firing former FBI Director James Comey, among other charges.

The former hedge-fund manager is funding the impeachment campaign, according to its website . . .

Steyer, 60, founded the hedge fund Farallon Capital before retiring in 2012. He then launched NextGen America, a political organization that supports liberal positions on climate change, immigration and health care, among other issues. Kim Jong Un’s Newest Threat: We Will Respond to ‘Fire With Fire’

The rogue regime in North Korea has sent America a threat, through the unusual channel of a letter to Australia, promising it will respond to “fire with fire” . . .

North Korea has been issuing threats against America for some time, both through its statements and its actions.

Friday, the London Mirror reported that Kim Jong Un’s rhetoric had been boosted another notch, with his declaration the U.S. will have to put up with his nuclear status.

“This is a matter of life and death for us,” the RIA news agency reported him as saying. “The current situation deepens our understanding that we need nuclear weapons to repel a potential attack.

“We will respond to fire with fire.” (Read more from “Kim Jong Un’s Newest Threat: We Will Respond to ‘Fire With Fire'” HERE)

Muslim Refugee in Obama ‘Welcome City’ Busted for Pedophilia

A Muslim refugee from Burma, also called Myanmar, is facing multiple sexual assault charges after he allegedly tried to kiss and fondled four girls between the ages of 7 and 12 in a New Hampshire town that just over a year ago became one of President Obama’s “Welcoming Cities.”

Police said the incidents allegedly occurred at some kind of gathering but were not more specific.

Mohammod Rafique, 27, a member of the Rohingya Muslim minority that is fleeing Burma, has been living in Nashua, New Hampshire, for almost two years but speaks no English.

Police cracked the case open after a 10-year-old Nashua girl told her family, then police, and then child-welfare advocates that a man “drank too much, (became) ‘touchy-touchy,’ rubbed her upper thigh and touched her buttocks,” according to the Telegraph, Nashua’s local newspaper . . .

Welcoming America was founded by Obama friend and open-borders promoter David Lubell, whose agenda is to “water the soil,” softening up residents of U.S. cities to accept the seeding of Third World refugees and illegal immigrants.
