Progressives Do Want Religion: Compulsory Progressivism

So much for progressivism’s obsession with “thou shall not judge.” Good. Because it was always a scam anyway. The plan was always to judge, and to judge harshly. But just as the devil needed to go undercover in the Garden of Eden with his own “did God really say?” deception, progressives needed deceptions like tolerance and diversity for as long as it took to eat away at truth like water against a rock. Then, when the time was right, the throne could be usurped for good in broad daylight.

The final act of that play is upon us now. We need not guess at it. Men and women like Apple CEO Tim Cook are taking to their pulpits with a megaphone and promising the great unwashed their own version of “thus sayeth the Lord.”

Cook used the occasion of the Anti-Defamation League’s first-ever “Courage Against Hate” award to preach:

“We only have one message for those who seek to push hate, division, and violence: You have no place on our platforms,” Cook said. “You have no home here.”

“If we can’t be clear on moral questions like these, then we’ve got big problems,” Cook continued. “I believe the most sacred thing that each of us is given is our judgment, our morality, our own innate desire to separate right from wrong. Choosing to set that responsibility aside at a moment of trial is a sin.”

Morality. Sacred. Right. Wrong. Sin. These are words and concepts traditionally associated with a place called church. Which brings us to another part of the great progressive scam. Separation of church and state was never their aim, either. They want the state to be the church.

But unlike the one true church, which has largely forgotten its charge of excommunication for those who insist on confusing the light with the darkness, the progressive church excels at casting out those who refuse to bend the knee to the idols du jour. Judgment is its jam.

This is ultimately an argument of what it means to be human, and when competing definitions strain against one another to the extent that they are now, it also becomes an argument about our very right to exist in public at all if we don’t bow to a counterfeit god.

Will we be leaven, or will we be lepers? We ignore at our peril the unforgiving gospel of priest, prophet, and king Cook, whose definition of morality is 180 degrees different from the real Gospel’s. Nothing less than a total hijacking of the created, redemptive, and sanctifying order is well under way. That’s why it looks like a church. Because it is one.

When the White Witch thought she killed Aslan in “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” she shaved his mane and turned it into a crown to wear as she mercilessly mowed down all those who continued to oppose her in Aslan’s name. In killing him, she also desperately wanted to be him.

“Desperate” is the operative word there. No such replacement of the true king of heaven and earth can ever appear to be anything but desperate in its definitions and defenses, which is why the defense of progressivism will be ruthless to its core. How else are you going to defend definitions that are ever careening toward the insane? Only ruthlessly.

Reason and science and all the other fronts won’t get you there. There will be religion, and the progressive religion will be compulsory.

Be baptized in it, or be bulldozed. (For more from the author of “Progressives Do Want Religion: Compulsory Progressivism” please click HERE)

2020: Another Democrat Decides Not to Run Against Trump

By Townhall. Let’s not kid ourselves, folks. The 2020 Democratic field is going to be big, but there are two people that are no longer running. Anti-Trump lawyer Michael Avenatti, who continues to be the Left’s professional clown, opted not to run in an announcement released yesterday, despite pounding his chest about how he would win if he ran in 2020. So, we’ll chalk that as a win for Trump. Truth be told, Avenatti would have been thrashed, he had no national constituency, and would have embarrassed the Democratic Party immensely. It’s also partially why I wanted him to run. It would have been amazing watching Avenatti pick fights with the rest of the 2020 field. Well, that field is also less one Democrat: former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. He’s out too. (Read more from “2020: Another Democrat Decides Not to Run Against Trump” HERE)

Deval Patrick to Announce He Will Not Run for President in 2020

By The New York Times. Deval Patrick, the former two-term Democratic governor of Massachusetts, plans to announce shortly that he will not run for president in 2020, according to a person close to Mr. Patrick.

Mr. Patrick had been discussing a possible run with associates and had been traveling around the country to support Democratic candidates in the midterm elections. But he had also expressed some reluctance about a possible presidential run, telling David Axelrod, a former Obama adviser, that he wasn’t sure there was a place for him.

“It’s hard to see how you even get noticed in such a big, broad field without being shrill, sensational or a celebrity — and I’m none of those things and I’m never going to be any of those things,” Mr. Patrick said in a podcast interview in September with Mr. Axelrod. DOJ Indicted Democratic Mega Donor For Defrauding the Military to Win $8 Billion Defense Contract

Three Virginia businessmen were charged with attempting to defraud the United States Military by engaging in illegal commerce in Iran and laundering money internationally in an attempt at winning contracts in Afghanistan.

In 2012, Anham FZCO, a defense contractor based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which maintained offices in Dubai, UAE, Jordan and the United States, was awarded an $8 billion contract to provide food and supplies to U.S. troops stations in Afghanistan. During the bidding process, Anham said they would build two warehouses to provide supplies. According to the indictment, Anham executives knowingly provided false estimates of the completion dates for the warehouses and by providing the government with misleading photographs intended to convey that Anham’s progress on the warehouses was further along than it actually was. The company allegedly took construction materials and equipment to a site in February 2012 when they created the false appearance of an active construction site. Anham took photos, sent them to the Department of Defense as “in-progress,” and then deconstructed the temporary site.

According to the Department of Justice, bidders were required to certify that they abide by the Iran Sanctions Act, which prohibits U.S. citizens and companies from engaging in commercial activity in Iran. The company allegedly violated the sanctions by shipping warehouse materials to Iran and then, eventually, Afghanistan. They did this as a means of saving money.

“According to the indictment, after learning that the Wall Street Journalwas planning to run a story detailing Anham’s practice of shipping materials through Iran, Abul Huda Farouki sent an email to a senior Department of Defense official, which falsely claimed that senior management at Anham had been unaware that the transshipments through Anham had taken place,” the DOJ said in a release. Climate Change Alarmism Is the World’s Leading Cause of Hot Gas

By The Federalist. Even as anti-gas tax riots raged in France this week, the naturalist David Attenborough warned a crowd at a United Nations climate change summit in Poland that the “collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon.” UN General Assembly President Maria Espinosa told the media that “mankind” was “in danger of disappearing” if climate change is allowed to progress at its current rate.

Speakers, who flew in to swap doomsday stories and partake of the meat-heavy menu, advocated for radical changes to avoid this imminent environmental apocalypse. These days, “the point of no return” is almost always in view, yet always just out of reach.

Sorry, but by now, this rhetoric is familiar. You can go back to 1970, when Harvard biologist George Wald, riding a wave of popular environmental panic during the decade, estimated that “civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”

Or you can go back to 1977, when President Barack Obama’s future science “tsar” John Holdren co-authored a book with Paul R. Ehrlich predicting that global warming could lead to the deaths of 1 billion starving people by 2020. (The authors theorized that “population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution.”)

Or you can go back to 2006, when Al Gore warned in his Oscar-winning documentary that sea levels would rise by 20 feet “in the near future.” The producers even offered chilling depictions of cities underwater. Gore was only off by around 20 feet, or so. Anyway, South Beach is still with us. (Read more from “Climate Change Alarmism Is the World’s Leading Cause of Hot Gas” HERE)

New Zealand Defence Report Says Climate Change Greatest Security Risk

By The Economic Times. New Zealand released a defence policy statement on Thursday calling climate change its greatest security threat and stressed the importance of the issue to the geostrategically contested Pacific region, which is seeing increased influence from China.

The assessment came on the heels of a defence policy earlier this year that warned China’s rising influence in the South Pacific could undermine regional stability, drawing a complaint from the Asian giant.

“It identifies climate change as one of the most significant security threats of our time, and one that is already having adverse impacts both at home and in New Zealand’s neighbourhood,” said Defence Minister Ron Mark in an emailed statement. Pedophile Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein Settles Lawsuit, Publicly Apologizes; Victims Now Won’t Testify

Pedophile Billionaire Settles Case Right Before Trial

By Greg Norman. The numerous young women who say they were sexually abused by wealthy, Clinton-linked financier Jeffrey Epstein no longer appear set to testify after a last-minute settlement was reached in a closely-watched civil lawsuit against the registered sex offender.

The deal was announced Tuesday — just before jury selection was to begin — and, for now, it likely means none of the women will be able to speak in court about the alleged abuse they endured at Epstein’s hands, according to the Associated Press.

The 65-year-old Epstein, who has counted presidents and kings among his friends, allegedly operated a sex ring at his mansion in Palm Beach, Florida, a residence in New York City, and his private island estate. The latter locale contained Epstein’s 72-acre Virgin Islands home — and the strip of land was dubbed by some as “Orgy Island.”

Court documents obtained by Fox News in 2016 showed former President Bill Clinton took at least 26 trips flying aboard Epstein’s private jet — known as the “Lolita Express” — and apparently ditched his Secret Service detail on some of the excursions. Authorities who seized trash outside Epstein’s home at the time found an invoice for the purchase of the book “SlaveCraft: Roadmaps for Erotic Servitude — Principles, Skills and Tools,” as well as the instructional “Training with Miss Abernathy: A Workbook for Erotic Slaves and Their Owners.” (Read more about the pedophile billionaire HERE)

Pedophile Billionaire Settles Case, Apologizes for False Malicious Prosecution Claim

By Rosa Flores and Eliott C. McLaughlin. [The settlement] ends a malicious prosecution counterclaim filed by attorney Bradley Edwards, who represented some of Epstein’s accusers. Edwards filed the counterclaim after Epstein accused him and a now-disbarred attorney of wrongdoing in a civil lawsuit.

The settlement came as jury selection was set to begin. Expected to testify were at least seven alleged victims, law enforcement officers, former US attorneys and Epstein’s former associates, said Michael Fisten, an investigator on Edwards’ team.

The specifics of the settlement are confidential, but court records indicate Epstein issued an apology as part of the settlement. Epstein conceded in the apology that he tried to denigrate Edwards’ reputation as a trial lawyer, Edwards said in a statement.

“The truth is that his aggressive investigation and litigation style was highly effective and therefore troublesome for me. The lawsuit I filed was my unreasonable attempt to damage his business reputation and stop Mr. Edwards from pursuing cases against me. It did not work,” Epstein said in his apology, according to Edwards’ statement. (Read more about the pedophile billionaire HERE)

Victims May Possibly Have One More Shot at Testifying Against Pedophile Billionaire

By Dareh Gregorian. [The] women who say they were victimized by politically connected convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have one more chance at justice — a case that could potentially put the multi-millionaire back behind bars.

Some of Epstein’s accusers had been expected to take the witness stand in Florida this week, at a defamation trial that was brought against Epstein by Bradley Edwards, a lawyer for some of the victims. The case settled Tuesday morning with Epstein issuing an apology to Edwards and paying him an undisclosed sum of money.

But the women still have one more shot at Epstein, a wildly successful hedge fund manager who used to pal around with the likes of presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump.

A pending suit by some of Epstein’s accusers in federal court in Florida is aimed at voiding a non-prosecution agreement that was signed off on by then-U.S. Attorney for Southern Florida Alexander Acosta (now President Trump’s Labor Secretary) — arguing that the deal was illegal because dozens of Epstein’s victims were never told about it. A 2020 Democrat Has Already Been Defeated

It appears that the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries have lost their most entertaining sideshow. “Creepy porn lawyer” and anti-Trump media darling Michael Avenatti released a statement Tuesday afternoon saying that he would not seek the presidency in the upcoming election cycle.

“After consultation with my family and at their request, I have decided not to seek the Presidency of the United States in 2020,” reads the attorney’s statement. “I do not make this decision lightly – I make it out of respect for my family. But for their concerns, I would run.”

There are plenty of reasons to believe that an Avenatti candidacy would be a bad move for the Left, from his client’s dumpster fire of a lawsuit against the president to the added baggage of his recent domestic violence charge, but vague familial concerns are pretty standard reasoning for announcements like this.

The 2020 primaries just got that much less entertaining for those who were already expecting a pretty comical display to begin with. However, there’s always the possibility that Avenatti will change his mind about running between now and the 2020 Iowa caucuses.

Either way, it’s hard to believe he’ll be able to go all the way from the Iowa Caucuses to Election Day without inserting himself into the news. (For more from the author of “A 2020 Democrat Has Already Been Defeated” please click HERE)

Reasons It’s Time to Fire Rod Rosenstein

. . .I don’t play four-dimensional chess. But it seems to me that when a subordinate undermines the president, defies Congress, flouts the rule of law, and now bucks the chain of command, it’s time to reach onto the chess board and relocate Rosenstein’s office to McMurdo Research station in Antarctica. If I were president, Rosenstein would share a desk with Bruce Ohr in their new Antarctic empire. Allow me to offer a very incomplete list of justifications to reassign Rosenstein to the polar tundra. . .

Recently, The New York Times published an allegation that Rosenstein, as acting attorney general, “suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House… discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit.” . . .

It’s one thing to resist congressional oversight. It’s another thing to do it while giggling and smirking during a congressional hearing and a public speech in Washington. If any lawyer had done the same during a proceeding before an Article III judge, the judge would have been duty-bound to have sanctioned his lack of decorum. A president should not tolerate his subordinate showing such contempt for a co-equal branch of government. . .

Rosenstein has a history of obstructing Congress and disregarding the president’s calls to cooperate with Congress. . .

Rosenstein has ignored serious violations of the law by Trump’s opponents while aggressively pursuing Trump’s allies. More disturbing, Rosenstein tolerates the political violence of Antifa and its numerous instances of viciously attacking political opponents. The DOJ would prosecute the attacks as civil rights violations if the victims were leftists. (Read more from “Reasons It’s Time to Fire Rod Rosenstein” HERE)

Jihadist Beheader in Oklahoma Cleared for Execution

This fall, the U.S. Supreme Court essentially cemented the execution of America’s least known Islamic terrorist. Jihadist convert Alton Nolen is now set to be put to death in Oklahoma, likely by nitrogen gas inhalation.

The Supreme Court’s October 1, 2018 rejection of Nolen’s final death penalty appeal went unremarked upon by news media so, partly as a result, I missed it. But the Nolen case is very much worth remembering, along with all terror attacks that occur on U.S. soil, if not just for the victims and their survivors but for lessons that can and must be learned.

The September 24, 2014 attack in Oklahoma is somewhat notable in the annals of many officially uncalled terrorist strikes in that Nolen emulated a favorite ISIS death tactic no doubt learned online: he fully beheaded a co-worker—the beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Colleen Hufford—inside the Moore, Oklahoma food processing plant where they both worked. Shouting “Alluah Akbar” throughout the attack, Nolen used the same oversized butcher knife on the neck of a second co-worker, Tracy Johnson, when the company’s chief operations officer, a reserve law enforcement officer named Mark Vaughn, burst in with an AR-15 rifle. He shot and wounded Nolen as Nolen disengaged from his second victim and charged at him with the bloody knife.

Such an attack must generate a particular horror in its witnesses and, when Nolen is finally put to death, one should keep in mind what Hufford must have experienced in her last moments. . .

Rather than to call this an Islamic terror attack and charge it federally as such, President Obama’s U.S. Department of Justice let the local district attorney charge Nolen under state murder statues (and as an assault and battery against survivor Traci Johnson). The whole disgusting affair was quickly forgotten by the rest of the nation, government, and all but those involved and some locals. But make no mistake: This was a jihadist terror attack on American soil. (Read more from “Jihadist Beheader in Oklahoma Cleared for Execution” HERE)

The Democratic Party’s Fault Lines Are Immigration and Identity Politics

. . .Take immigration, for example. As the Central American migrants storm the U.S.-Mexico border, the line of argument has shifted within the left from “they are never going to come” to “they are only poor refugees.”

Reihan Salam pointed out in the latest National Review podcast that migrants, who had to pay thousands of dollars to human traffickers in the past, can now have the relative safety and comfort of travelling in caravans, with food and blankets being provided by activists and NGOs, helping their every move. This is almost a copybook replication of the European migrant movement, with NGOs and activists with immense funding acting hand in hand with human traffickers.

It is also unsustainable, as the majority of the migrants in this scenario are military-aged men (just like Europe), brandishing their own countries’ flags, chanting worker’s solidarity slogans supported by socialists, and pelting stones at U.S. service personnel. Regardless of what some in the rational left still think of mass migration, this optics will eventually force them to choose between taking a stance of de facto open borders, or use of force and deterrence to stop this precedent. . .

The second fault line is identity politics. Post-2016, the Democrats have not found a way to move forward and are even divided in their diagnosis of what the problem is. The progressive wing of the left wanted a free hand and got one in the recent midterms, but the results were not kind to them.

Two key races, for example, showed the limitations of identity as a factor. In the gubernatorial race in Georgia, the far-left Stacey Abrams is refusing to concede in a manner now prevalent on the left. Abrams was a darling of the media, ticking all the intersectional boxes, which somehow led her to believe in her inevitability of winning and she is now disputing reality. Republicans Have Already Surrendered the Border/Budget Fight

It’s become an annual December ritual. Republicans act like Santa Claus and delivers the Christmas goods for the Left, while leaving their most dedicated voters with nothing but a lump of coal. It’s a ritual that Trump was supposed to change, but it shows no signs of changing.

President George H.W. Bush was an American hero, icon, and statesman to whom we owe the highest national honor. But his funeral and memorial services should not change the fact that Republicans and Trump owe us a budget this week in the House that will deal with the border loopholes and sanctuary cities and build the wall. Then Trump should demand that McConnell force one vote after another on the House budget until the opposition is compelled to hold the floor in an authentic talking filibuster. Forcing Democrats to defend the invasion at our border in front of the cameras for a sustained period of time is the only way to break this stalemate.

Sadly, President Bush’s passing provided Republicans with the perfect subterfuge with which to sell us out, even though they were already looking for an avenue to cave. They are planning to pass a two-week continuing resolution that will expire right before Christmas on December 21, knowing full well there will be no appetite for a border fight right before everyone leaves town for the holiday.

There is no reason we can’t deal with the ultimate government shutdown – the suspension of law and order at our border – while we hold a funeral for President Bush. Republicans know this as well as we do, but they never had any intention of fighting.

First they caved on Obamacare, now they are at peace with permanent funding of Planned Parenthood, and tomorrow they will formally drive a stake through border security.

With over 200 people being apprehended every day in just one border sector, there are thousands of aliens crossing every day, on pace to reach one million this year, factoring in the likely number of individuals who are not caught. The damage to this country in terms of crime, drugs, public charge, and even diseases is immeasurable. It is the ultimate job of the federal government to defend against this invasion and this is why we have a federal budget. Republicans think they are “avoiding a shutdown,” but they are in fact perpetuating the shutdown of a sovereign nation-state.

Illegals are being told they have the right to break into our country and steal our identity, and nothing is done about it.

They are counted in the Census and continue to vote in elections, and nothing is done about it.

They drain our resources, strain our schools, and create dead weight on the health care system, and nothing is done about it.

We have the worst gang and drug crisis in our history from this very Central American migration, yet courts are now empowered to block deportations of even the worst elements.

I’d call that a government shutdown, all right.

Yet when Mitch McConnell is asked about the budget question, he sounds like an apathetic and detached commentator rather than a leader of a right-of-center party speaking to the outrage of the public over stolen sovereignty. When asked about the prospect of a government shutdown, McConnell merely said, “I don’t think we’ll get to that point.” He went on to say the president needs to negotiate with Democrat leadership. Well, what about threatening to force a talking filibuster and making a list of demands on Democrats? What about showing some emotion for the terrible costs of this invasion? We need a leader, not a floor scheduler.

And where is the president himself? Why did the White House and all outside conservative groups spend the final weeks of full control promoting Soros’ jailbreak instead of fighting for national sovereignty, the most basic purpose of the federal government’s existence? Amazingly, many of these so-called social conservatives who didn’t utter a peep about defunding Planned Parenthood and the judicially mandated transgender agenda in the military spent their political capital trying to convince us that letting gangbangers out of prison is pro-family. To McConnell’s credit, he isn’t excited to take up the so-called ‘prison reform’ bill, but he’s not excited to act on anything – good or bad.

And speaking of priorities, while our immigration priorities are not in the bill, the priorities of cheap labor will eventually be in the omnibus. Congress plans to double the number of H-2B non-agricultural, unskilled seasonal workers that will continue to be a public charge on America. Also, even before legislators pass the omnibus prior to Christmas, they are slipping in extensions of the flood insurance programs and the Violence Against Woman Act (VAWA) even in the two-week stopgap bill.

Evidently, we can afford to go without border security but we can’t have any lapse in this broken flood insurance program or a special-interest program that uses an important issue to subvert due process.

There’s one other point many in the media are missing. The perfidy and betrayal of the past several months on the budget actually make it easier for Republicans to fight this week on the remainder of the budget. Republicans have already caved to Democrats on spending levels and enacted five of the annual appropriations bills for the entire fiscal year 2019, composing three-quarters of this year’s discretionary spending. That includes Energy-Water, Military Construction-VA, Legislative Branch, Defense, and Labor-HHS-Education. They already capitulated on astronomical spending levels for HHS and Education. But either way, the military, Social Security, and health care programs are already funded for the remainder of the fiscal year. It’s only seven departments that remain subject to the stopgap funding bill or an omnibus. So there is literally minimal risk over a shutdown, even in the minds of timid Republicans. Why not use the budget to focus national attention on our border and all its vices for a week or two? Why not have Trump give a series of prime-time speeches making his case?

Sadly, it appears that the House will pass a new stopgap bill on Thursday without a recorded vote, so the public won’t even be treated to a debate. What a sad way to end an eight-year run of GOP House control. (For more from the author of “Republicans Have Already Surrendered the Border/Budget Fight” please click HERE)
