Iranian leader falsely claims ‘Death to America’ is about Trump, not America

In a sermon Friday, Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of the terrorist regime in Iran, claimed that the infamous “Death to America” chants that he leads every Friday after prayers are not actually directed at America, but at President Trump and his associates.

“As long as America continues its wickedness, the Iranian nation will not abandon ‘Death to America’,” the Ayatollah pledged, seemingly contradicting himself. “‘Death to America’ means death to Trump, [National Security Adviser] John Bolton, and [Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo. It means death to American rulers,” he added.

Of course, the regime in Tehran has chanted “Death to America” during every presidency since the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979. It’s not about President Trump. Iran’s fundamental mission under the theocratic regime is to spread the Shiite Islamic revolution far and wide, through violent force, by arming jihadi terrorist organizations, and by circulating anti-Western, anti-American propaganda and messaging.

Khamenei is simply trying to garner support in the West for Iran’s ambitions, hoping he can fool gullible Western progressives into believing that his issues are with the president and not with the West as a whole.

US-China trade deal deadline approaches without resolution

As a March 1 deadline for the imposition of punitive tariffs nears, the U.S.-China trade talks appear to have stalled.

The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that “the two nations are far from an agreement” and that fears continue to grow that failing to secure an agreement will result in devastating economic consequences for the two superpowers.

U.S. and Chinese negotiators will meet next week in an attempt to strike a deal before tariffs go into effect.

Caravan migrants plot new US entry routes in response to border security boost

Central American migrants are said to be reconsidering their normal paths of illegal entry into the United States, as the Trump administration prepares to bolster security measures on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Reuters reports:

“Some Central American migrants seeking entry into the United States but stalled near a Texas crossing said on Wednesday they are considering moving to another part of the border, where they may have a better chance of lodging a speedy asylum claim.”

The report adds:

“Mulling their next move from the dusty Mexican town of Piedras Negras, just south of the Eagle Pass crossing on the U.S. side, the latest group of around 1,700 caravan migrants want to avoid a potentially months-long wait for a chance to plead their case for asylum.

The Khashoggi-obsessed Congress is demanding that the Trump administration sanction Saudi Arabia for its role in the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi Islamist who had been living temporarily in the United States and contributing columns to the Washington Post prior to his demise.

Howard Schultz’s Potential 2020 Run Is a Canary in a Coal Mine for Democrats

Socialist-leaning Democrats are promoting a new wave of wealth redistribution tax schemes that are setting the stage to tear the Democrat Party apart. The drive to loot and demonize wealth creators runs the risk of alienating pro-capitalism Democrats and forcing them to abandon the party.

The decision by former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to contemplate running for president in 2020 as an independent is a canary in a coal mine for Democrats. Schultz is a progressive, but he believes in capitalism because it helped him live the American dream, going from a housing project in Brooklyn to billionaire.

The Democrats’ move to the socialist Left, ignited by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., during the 2016 presidential campaign, is gaining steam in 2019. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., who recently established a 2020 presidential exploratory committee, is proposing a wealth tax. Warren wants a two percent annual tax on assets that exceed $50 million and a three percent tax for households with more than $1 billion in assets. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez D-N.Y., has another idea. She feels high-income earners who make more than $10 million should be taxed at a 70 percent rate.

Limiting higher taxes to very high-income earners or the very wealthy makes for a clever political scheme. It’s far easier to sway the masses to support the tax measures by narrowing the focus on a small and unsympathetic base of the very wealthy. According to the Washington Post, “16,000 Americans earned more than $10 million each,” and that represents “fewer than 0.05 percent of all U.S. households.”

Similarly, the wealth tax, or, as Sen. Warren calls it, the “Ultra-Millionaire Tax,” targets 75,000 families, meaning less than 0.1 percent of U.S. households, based on an analysis of Warren’s advisers, economists Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman of the University of California, Berkeley.

Based on public opinion surveys, a significant percent of the public are willing to take from the ultra-rich. A Morning Consults/Politico poll reported 61 percent of registered voters backed the Warren type of wealth tax, while only 45 percent favored the Ocasio-Cortez tax idea. Warren’s tax plan cuts across party lines, with 50 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of independents supporting her “Ultra-Millionaire Tax.” Almost three quarters of Democrats supported the tax.

A Fox News poll of registered voters on Ocasio-Cortez’s idea centered on very high-income earners also found broad-based political support. Seventy percent of those polled supported the tax, and the breakdown along political parties also showed significant support, with a whopping 85 percent of Democrats and a majority of Republicans at 54 percent. Taken together, the polls show that taxing the very wealthy is getting bipartisan backing, but the support among Democrats is overwhelming.

In political terms, the soak-the-rich mentality is so keen in the socialistic wing that they are pushing out the very wealthy from the Democrat Party.

A possible run for president by Schultz is a case in point. Schultz made it very clear that the tax-the-very-wealthy agenda was the motivating force behind his decision to consider runnning as an independent. During an interview on CNBC, Schultz said he respects the Democrat Party but that taxing at the 70 percent level, Ocasio-Cortez’s rate idea, is unacceptable.

Ocasio-Cortez hit back at Schultz on Twitter, essentially saying that billionaires should not jump to the top of the political ladder and run for president but need to start at the bottom rung.

Schultz was also criticized by Warren after he called her tax plan “ridiculous.” Warren responded on Twitter, “What’s ‘ridiculous’ is billionaires who think they can buy the presidency to keep the system rigged for themselves while opportunity slips away for everyone else.”

Schultz also fears that Warren’s idea is the first step toward socialism.

The left-wing media also joined in the bash-the-billionaire game. Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” embarrassed Schultz because he didn’t know the cost of a box of Cheerios — a clear cheap-shot question aimed at making him look out of touch with Americans.

These high-tax ideas are also sending a powerful message to other Democrat CEOs in corporate America and liberals on Wall Street. It’s only a matter of time before the socialist Democrats initiate an attack on billionaire and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is also considering a 2020 run for president.

Rep. Omar Leaves out Some Key Details When Complaining About the Pay Gap at McDonald’s

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) cited a claim about the pay gap between the CEO of McDonald’s, Steve Easterbrook, and the company’s median employee Thursday but left out some key details.

At a hearing calling for increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour, Rep. Omar questioned Missouri McDonald’s shift manager Terrence Wise who shared that he made $11 an hour with the company.

“So the median pay for a McDonald’s worker was $7,000 in 2017,” Rep. Omar said, “and that is the pay gap between the CEO that’s making $21.8 [million] to the $7,000 that a worker who has put in 40 hours a day[sic] gets paid. To me, that just morally does not sit well.” . . .

However, the part that Omar failed to mention is that “McDonald’s defines a median employee as a part-time hourly restaurant crew member in Poland, where wages are lower than in the U.S. and it didn’t use any of the exclusions allowed.” (Read more from “Rep. Here Are Ocasio-Cortez’s Latest Idiotic Remarks About Illegal Aliens and Immigration Enforcement

It still has to deal with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and her ongoing crusade against Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Her push to abolish ICE is partially what fueled her meteoric rise to Washington. Ocasio-Cortez took out longtime Democrat Joe Crowley in an upset primary that had many saying it was the Democratic version of what Republican Congressman David Brat did to then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in Virginia.

We all know the game here. First, we need immigration enforcement. We need federal agents working in tandem with local officials to do it. This isn’t a serious proposal, but it gets the far left riled up. And because it isn’t a serious proposal, you get half-baked jargon from the people peddling it. Yesterday, Ocasio-Cortez declared that Latinos couldn’t be declared illegal because…they’re descendants of native people (via Free Beacon):

The self-described Democratic socialist spoke on Thursday alongside several liberal groups, including MoveOn and United We Dream, a pro-immigration group that calls for ICE to be abolished. She repeatedly slammed ICE, claiming it “repeatedly and systematically violates human rights.”

“They do not deserve a dime until they can prove that they are honoring human rights, until they can make a good faith effort to expand and embrace immigrants … Until they can prove good faith to an American ideal, they do not deserve any resources for their radical agenda. We have to have respect for children, respect for families, respect for human rights, and respect for the right of human mobility,” Ocasio-Cortez said of the agency tasked with enforcing U.S. immigration laws.

The freshman congresswoman went on to suggest ICE has not given due respect to those who enter the country illegally. The United States must “respect for the right of human mobility,” she said before adding, “because it is a right.”

Democrats’ ‘Green New Deal’ Is a Crazy New Deal That Would Be a Disaster for Us All

By Fox News. The Green New Deal nonbinding congressional resolution unveiled by Democratic lawmakers Thursday calls for economically destructive and environmentally toxic extremist policies that would be an utter disaster for our country and the American people.

The radical and impractical plan could suck trillions of dollars out of our economy, raise costs of much of what we buy, wipe out millions of jobs and plunge our country into a recession or perhaps even a depression. It would be a self-inflicted wound causing enormous harm to us all.

Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass., released the proposal, elements of which have already drawn support from some congressional Democrats, including several seeking their party’s presidential nomination.

Calling climate change “a direct threat to the national security of the United States,” the resolution calls for the United States to “achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers.” . . .

The radical plan would replace fossil fuels by building hundreds or even thousands of costly new renewable energy facilities across the country. Longest-Serving Member of Congress Has Died

Former Democratic Rep. John Dingell (D-MI) has passed away at the age of 92. He was the longest-serving member of Congress, holding office for a staggering 21,572 days. He took office in 1955 to represent the 15thcongressional district, now the 12th district, in Michigan, succeeding his father; Rep. John Dingell, Sr. He served until his retirement in 2015. His wife, Debbie, now occupies the seat. Congresswoman Dingell had signaled that her husband was entering his final days, informing the public that he had moved into hospice care on Wednesday (via Fox News):

Implants Increasingly Linked to Lymphoma in Women – 9 Reported Deaths

On Wednesday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Dr. Binita Ashar released a statement on the danger of women getting cancer after having breast implants. As CNN reported, “At least 457 women in the United States have so far been diagnosed with anaplastic large cell lymphoma. … Of those, nine have died as a result of the rare cancer, which affects cells in the immune system and can be found around the breast implant.” Anaplastic large cell lymphoma is a type of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons has written: “BIA-ALCL usually develops as a delayed swelling of the breast (Average 8 years, range 2 to 28 years) after the insertion of textured breast implants, which may present as fluid collecting around the implant or marked breast asymmetry. It can also present as a lump in the breast or armpit.”

The FDA statement said, “We recognize the limitations of medical device reports, which is why we review other sources of information, including medical literature and the Patient Registry and Outcomes for Breast Implants and Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma Etiology and Epidemiology. PROFILE collects real world data regarding patients who have a confirmed diagnosis of BIA-ALCL. Top 2020 Democrats Co-Sponsor Ocasio-Cortez’s Bonkers Green New Deal Plan

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., made a big splash Thursday after she rolled out the framework for a Green New Deal with Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass. The plan, which calls for massive government intervention in the economy to bring America to “net-zero emissions” in 10 years, was introduced as a nonbinding resolution to state the intent of Congress to pass Green New Deal policies in the future.

This is not just the fever dream of Ocasio-Cortez. This plan is going mainstream in the Democratic Party, with no fewer than five 2020 presidential candidates co-sponsoring the resolution.

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., are also co-sponsors of the Green New Deal resolution. Sanders has not officially declared his candidacy for president but is widely expected to do so.

Additionally, 60 Democrats in the House of Representatives are backing the Green New Deal, according to the Washington Post, and four more Democratic senators who are not running for president (yet) as well.

I took a look at the plan earlier and others have had a chance to read it too. The reviews are in: The Green New Deal, which all of these Democrats support, is NUTS.

And the plan to pay for it all?

Five of the top Democratic 2020 contenders are backing the Green New Deal. If any of them win the DNC nomination, this radical plan to overturn the American economy becomes a plank in the Democratic Party platform.

Must-Read: Washington Post Explains Why Democrat Northam ‘Must Go,’ but It’s Not Why You Might Think

The editorial board of The Washington Post has decided that it’s time for embattled Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam to resign. The “circumstances are decisive,” the editors wrote in an editorial Wednesday, “what’s done cannot be undone. He must go.” But the impetus for their demand is not Northam dressing in blackface (well, not really), nor is it because they’re hoping the equally embattled lieutenant governor will take his place (“he has his own problems,” after all), and it’s certainly not because the “moderate” governor attempted to justify infanticide. No, it’s a bit more, well, complicated than that.

“Gov. Ralph Northam (D) can no longer effectively serve the people of Virginia who elected him,” the editorial begins. “His shifting and credulity-shredding explanations for the racist photograph on his medical school yearbook page, and the silence into which he then succumbed for days — after initially promising to do ‘the hard work’ of atonement and apology to restore his standing with Virginians — is simply too much.”

In other words, it’s not the blackface photo (or Michael Jackson impression) that’s the nail on the coffin for Northam; it’s his “shifting and credulity-shredding explanations” for it.

“His decade-long record in public office is admirable; it is equally true that his governorship has been irredeemably wrecked by the self-inflicted, racially callous and clueless mess he has made in recent days,” they continue. The editorial board reminds their readers that “facts do matter” and, in this case, Northam’s left too many “unsettled and unanswered.”

“First and foremost among the questions they raise: How could he possibly have admitted to something as damning as appearing in the photo if he was certain he wasn’t one of the people in it? How did that photo wind up on his page if he didn’t furnish it to the yearbook editors? What do the governor’s now-you-see-it-now-you-don’t statements say about his judgment?” they ask. “The explanations Mr. Northam has proffered are vague and unconvincing. Virginians deserve better.
