Report: Democrats Have the Votes to Impeach President Trump; Dems Preparing to Undermine Trump Victory in 2020

By Breitbart. House Democrats now have the votes to impeach President Donald J. Trump on Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported late Monday.

The Wall Street Journal‘s Siobhan Hughes, Lindsay Wise, and Natalie Andrews wrote Monday evening:

By Monday afternoon, at least 18 from the 31 Democratic-held districts that Mr. Trump won in the 2016 presidential race had announced they would support the abuse-of-power and obstruction of Congress charges, according to a Wall Street Journal survey, with two saying they are opposed.

In other words, given the recent surge over the weekend into early this week of announcements of support for Articles of Impeachment from a number of vulnerable House Democrats who had been holding out until now, the Democrats have crossed the threshold necessary to impeach the president–barring any unforeseen surprises. Democrats Preparing to Undermine Trump Victory in 2020

By Washington Examiner. Democrats are laying the groundwork to undermine the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s presidency if he wins in 2020, arguing foreign interference helped him get into the White House in the first place and then stay there.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff last week explained House Democrats’ expedited impeachment schedule against Trump for abuse of power and obstructing Congress, with House floor votes now set for Wednesday.

“The argument, ‘Why don’t you just wait?’, amounts to this: Why don’t you just let him cheat in one more election?” Schiff told reporters.

“Why not let him have foreign help one more time?” added the California Democrat, who led the intelligence panel’s investigation into whether Trump improperly leveraged U.S. military aid to pressure Ukraine into digging up political dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden, a top-tier 2020 Democratic White House candidate.

Democrats have not been shy about using the word “cheat” in reference to Trump’s 2016 campaign, which former special counsel Robert Mueller’s federal Russia inquiry found was boosted in part by Russian meddling. Though Mueller’s 22-month investigation failed to uncover evidence Trump’s team welcomed the foreign assistance, some prominent Democrats make it seem otherwise. South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, often laments on the campaign trail that Trump should never have been allowed to come “within cheating distance of the Oval Office.”

CNN Impeachment Poll Has Bad News for Democrats: Support Among Democrats Drops by Double Digits

By Daily Wire. A new CNN impeachment poll released on Monday found that not only is support for impeachment and removal underwater nationwide, but that support has dropped among Democrat voters by double-digits.

“Support for impeaching Trump and removing him from office stands at 45% in the new poll, down from 50% in a poll conducted in mid-November just after the conclusion of the House Intelligence Committee’s public hearings,” CNN reported. “Opposition to impeachment and removal stands at 47% in the new poll, up from 43% in November.”

CNN added, “Support for impeachment and removal among Democrats has dipped from 90% in November to 77% now.”

The news comes after Tom Bevan, Co-Founder and President of Real Clear Politics, reported on Monday that the new Real Clear Politics average — which averages out the top national polls — showed that public support for impeachment was underwater with 47.3% opposing impeachment while 46.7% support it.

Impeachment Support Collapses with Public as Trump Approval Ties Record High

By Daily Wire. Multiple new polls that have been released in recent days show that public support for impeachment has fallen to a record low and opposition to impeachment has surged to a record high which comes as President Donald Trump’s approval rating tied a record high in a separate poll. . .

A new poll from USA Today, whose editorial board recently endorsed impeachment, found that “in the wake of combative impeachment hearings, those surveyed oppose by 51%-45% a Senate vote to convict Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.”

USA Today’s poll also showed “Trump defeating former vice president Joe Biden by three percentage points, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by five points, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren by eight points. In hypothetical head-to-head contests, Trump also led South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg by 10 points and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg by nine.”

Separately, a new poll from Quinnipiac University, whose polls often paint Trump in the worst possible light, said that Trump’s approval rating surged to the highest it has ever been in their polling at 43% — which is fairly low compared to the highs that Trump has registered in other polls. Poll: Over Half of Voters Say Senior Law Enforcement Officials Illegally Targeted Trump

A Rasmussen poll released Monday found 52 percent of likely U.S. voters say senior law enforcement officials broke the law in seeking to prevent Donald Trump from becoming president in 2016.

The telephone and online survey results showed 39 percent of voters say it is unlikely law enforcement officials broke the law in targeting Trump.

“These findings are virtually unchanged in surveying since February of last year,” Rasmussen Reports notes.

What has changed, however, is the percentage of voters who say the senior law enforcement officials who targeted Trump should be jailed if found guilty of breaking the law.

A plurality (43 percent) of respondents say the officials should be jailed – up from 25 percent in February, while 22 percent say officials who acted illegally should simply be fired. (Read more from “Poll: Over Half of Voters Say Senior Law Enforcement Officials Illegally Targeted Trump” HERE)

SEE IT: Climate Activists Try to Stop Freight Train Hauling Coal

An environmental reporter in Massachusetts posted a video on Twitter late Monday that she said showed a freight train hauling coal being met with a group of climate change activists on a dark track.

The train was seen moving slowly through Worchester, Mass., and about a dozen activists with small lights could be seen surrounding the tracks. The train’s horn was blaring, but the activists appeared to continue to give it chase. The train was headed to New Hampshire, the reporter wrote.

Miriam Wasser, a reporter for WBUR, Boston’s NPR station, posted the clip and wrote that the train was alerted about people on the track after a call to the emergency hotline. It was unclear if the activists were part of a organized group. (Read more from “SEE IT: Climate Activists Try to Stop Freight Train Hauling Coal” HERE)

Judge Denies Michael Flynn’s Allegations of FBI Ambush, Sets Sentencing for January

Nearly a year after delaying his initial sentencing, Judge Emmett Sullivan has rejected attempts by former White House national-security adviser Michael Flynn to throw out his previous guilty plea due to prosecutorial misconduct, and set Flynn’s sentencing for January 28.

In a 93-page decision issued Monday, Sullivan rejected claims from Flynn’s defense team that the former three-star general was trapped by FBI agents during questioning over his contacts with Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak. Flynn pleaded guilty in December 2017 to one count of lying to federal agents, only later claiming that he was deliberately manipulated by the FBI in a set-up.

“The sworn statements of Mr. Flynn and his former counsel belie his new claims of innocence and his new assertions that he was pressured into pleading guilty to making materially false statements to the FBI,” Sullivan wrote.

The judge also denied a bombshell claim by Flynn’s team that the FBI tampered with notes from the interview and deliberately withheld exculpatory information from Flynn. Flynn’s defense had argued that the government was required to turn over the original interview document under the Brady rule, which established the government’s obligation to turn over evidence that can be useful for the defense.

In November, the Department of Justice admitted that it had indeed misattributed notes to former FBI Agent Peter Strzok, who was one of two agents to conduct the interview, encouraging Flynn’s allies to believe a positive decision was forthcoming. The Ukraine Whistleblower Is Another James Comey; Slippery Former FBI Director Gets Nailed

By Washington Examiner. Democrats don’t want us to confirm the identity of the so-called whistleblower in their impeachment drive, because then we’ll realize that we’ve seen this exact same scenario play out before: A career government employee believes it’s up to him or her to save the republic and stop President Trump.

The inspector general report out of the Justice Department last week showed that this pattern started as far back as 2016, when FBI agent after FBI agent self-identified as a hero and began spying on Trump’s 2016 campaign in hopes of uncovering a conspiracy with Russia.

They each lied, fabricated, and willingly relied on what they knew was faulty information for the purpose of pursuing a sham investigation of the president into something that has since been debunked.

A separate inspector general report released back in August showed that former FBI Director James Comey is another one of these people. After Comey leaked confidential information to the news media by way of a third party, Comey “failed to live up to his responsibility” and “set a dangerous example” for other agents, the inspector general said. Comey defended the leaking as an act of patriotism, something he did out of “love for my country.” The inspector general slapped Comey on that point, stating that “strongly held personal convictions” are not an excuse for flouting FBI policy. The Slippery James Comey Gets Nailed

By National Review. Twenty years ago, Bill Clinton gave us “it depends upon what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is.” James Comey has now given us it depends what the meaning of “vindicated” is.

The former FBI director sat down with Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday over the weekend, and it didn’t go well. Wallace repeatedly pressed Comey on critical findings in the Horowitz IG report, and Comey shimmied and dodged, in a master class in slipperiness and evasion. . .

All of these advantages were eroded or nonexistent on Sunday. The Horowitz report has dumped a prodigious amount of material about the investigations out into the public. While Chris Wallace obviously isn’t a law-enforcement professional, he knows the factual record and, as one of the best interviewers on TV, was relentless, yet fair in grilling Comey. . .

Off the bat, Wallace juxtaposed Comey’s claim that the IG report was a vindication with Michael Horowitz’s congressional testimony that no one who had anything to do with the FBI’s handling of the investigation should feel vindicated. . .

He relied repeatedly on such mincing distinctions. Questioned how he can square his past statement that the Steele dossier was “part of a broader mosaic of facts” supporting the Carter Page FISA application with Horowitz’s finding that it was “central and essential” in deciding to seek the FISA order, Comey said there was no contradiction. Congress Set to Prohibit Sales of Tobacco Products to Anyone Under 21

Sales of tobacco products to anyone under 21 would be banned under a year-end congressional spending bill likely to pass this week, congressional staffers said Monday.

The measure, which would include cigarettes and e-cigarettes, has bipartisan support and was introduced in May by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.). In November, President Trump told reporters he supported an increase in the tobacco-buying age to 21 from 18.

Public health advocates praised the move, saying it would help reduce kids’ access to vaping products. But they stressed much more action is needed to reverse the youth vaping surge. And several expressed concern that the White House will use the “Tobacco 21” measure, as it is called, to avoid imposing the ban on flavored e-cigarettes that Trump announced in September but subsequently backed away from. FISA Report Was so Bad That FBI’s Top Lawyer During Russia Probe Felt ‘Distressed’ After Reading It

Former FBI general counsel James Baker said Monday that he felt “distressed” after reading the Justice Department inspector general’s report laying out “significant” errors and omissions in the bureau’s applications to surveil former Trump campaign aide Carter Page.

In an interview on CNN, Baker went further in his critique of the bureau than did FBI Director James Comey, who said Sunday that he believed the FBI was “sloppy” in its efforts to obtain Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants against Page.

“Sloppiness is completely unacceptable. That is not the way you operate in front of a federal court. I don’t know what word you want to use, it’s terrible, it’s unacceptable, it shouldn’t happen. That is not the way we should be filing matters in front of a federal court,” Baker told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.

“I was distressed about it. I was completely distressed about it,” Baker said of his response to the inspector general’s (IG) findings.

Baker has testified that he personally reviewed the FISA applications against Page, given their political sensitivity. (Read more from “FISA Report Was so Bad That FBI’s Top Lawyer During Russia Probe Felt ‘Distressed’ After Reading It” HERE)

Is He Talking About Biden? Obama Says World Problems Are Due to ‘Old Men Not Getting out of the Way’

Former President Barack Obama said Monday that most of the world’s problems are due to “old men not getting out of the way.”

Obama spoke at a private event on leadership in Singapore where he said that many issues the world faces stem from older men not knowing when to step down.

“If you look at the world and look at the problems, it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way,” he said, the BBC reported.

“It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life, you are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self importance or your own power,” the former president said.

Obama’s critique of elderly men in politics comes as the former president continues to refrain from endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden for president of the U.S. Biden has attempted to explain Obama’s silence by telling reporters in April that he asked Obama not to endorse him. Civilian Saudi Student Arrested – as SecDef Esper Promises More Foreign Trainees (VIDEO)

Amid the impeachment soap opera revolving around allegations of foreign interference in our politics, everyone is ignoring the ultimate foreign influence in our nation through unvetted visas.

Immediately following the terrorist attack on the Pensacola naval base by a Saudi foreign student, I asked the following question: If we can’t even vet the most closely scrutinized military trainees coming onto our secured naval bases, do you really have confidence that there aren’t thousands of other green card recipients and general foreign students from these countries who harbor the same views Mohammed Alshamrani allegedly expressed on social media? Let me introduce you to Hassan Alqahtani.

Alqahtani is one of the 40,000 or so Saudi students who are brought in every year to study in American universities. He was studying engineering at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and was slated to graduate over the weekend, but instead he was arrested by the FBI for weapons charges. The FBI is also investigating a tip from someone who knows Alqahtani that he was putting together “a list of people who he wants to kill before he leaves the US.”

The FBI searched Alqahtani’s home on Thursday and discovered a Cobra handgun and ammunition, according to the criminal complaint filed in federal court in New Mexico. As a visitor on a non-immigrant visa. Alqahtani is prohibited by federal law from possessing a firearm. At present, he is only being charged on a weapons violation as the investigation into any potential plot continues.

We are bringing in hundreds of thousands of people from volatile countries every year on long-term visas without a clue to who they are. Trump’s entire campaign on immigration was built on the premise that there should be a moratorium of visas from these countries until we have better vetting. Yet we have not found a better way of vetting them since Trump made that promise. And despite the Pensacola shooting, there is no evidence that the administration is going to take a more aggressive posture on visas.

Quite the contrary. When Congressman Matt Gaetz, the representative from Pensacola, questioned Secretary of Defense Mark Esper about the program at a hearing last Tuesday, he declined even to say that the military training program for Saudis would he shut off, much less civilian visas. “I would hope that very soon, perhaps within the day, you would be able to make a public statement as to whether or not we are taking in new students while you are undergoing that vetting process,” said the Florida congressman at the House Armed Services Committee hearing. Esper responded that there is a “stand-down” on Saudi training, limiting Saudi students just to classroom activities, “until we can do expedited vetting of all Saudi students in the United States.” However, when Gaetz pressed him on whether we are still accepting “new students,” Esper retorted, “I can’t answer that affirmatively, I’d have to get back to you on that.”

If Esper sounded diffident and ambiguous at the hearing, though, he was crystal clear in a statement on Friday, and not in a good way. Esper announced his desire to expand the program by 50 percent over five years, according to the Military Times!

“Programs like these help us develop closer relationships with valued partners around the world while also introducing them to America,” said Esper during a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations. “I have asked the department to find ways to increase PME [professional military education] participation.”

Folks, this is Trump’s secretary of defense making the case not only to continue programs like this even after the Pensacola shooting. This is what happens when impeachment is allowed to overshadow other news. These statements from Esper could easily be made in a Biden administration. Just who is the commander in chief?

Since the Pensacola shooting, it came to light that Mohammed Alshamrani had a paper trail of pro-jihadist social media activity that was never vetted by the Pentagon, State Department, or Department of Homeland Security. A Twitter account believed to be that of Alshamrani retweeted calls for jihad against America within a few years of his admittance to the country.

How many of the roughly 150,000 Islamic immigrants and 150,000 other foreign students we bring in from those same countries every single year share those views? We don’t have anywhere near enough case workers at DHS and State to vet those people, even if there was some way to vet jihadist proclivities.

In addition to the threats from millions of criminal aliens and millions of unvetted Middle Easterners, there is the espionage threat from hundreds of thousands of Chinese brought here every year. Just this Sunday, the New York Times revealed that two Chinese diplomats were expelled after they managed to breach a special operations military base in Norfolk, Virginia, three months ago. One is suspected of being an intelligence officer. These are diplomats who turned out to be spies.

Can you imagine how many of the 340,000 foreign students admitted every year poses a security risk, after we’ve already caught several spies among them? The director of national intelligence warned in the latest Worldwide Threat Assessment, “China’s intelligence services will exploit the openness of American society, especially academia and the scientific community, using a variety of means.” The same applies to the endless student visas we grant to Iranian nationals. We’ve learned absolutely nothing from 9/11, and evidently, Pensacola will not serve as a wake-up call 18 years later.

At the same time we bring in millions of unvetted immigrants and visitors from hostile or volatile countries, we must ask what happened to the president’s promise to arm our own soldiers on military bases. The president has been silent on this issue in the aftermath of Pensacola, even though he promised to end the gun-free zone on bases on “day one” of his presidency.

Although the Pensacola shooter got his gun legally, this new Saudi suspect in New Mexico possessed a gun illegally. Most immigrants cannot purchase a firearm. But the same enduring lesson about gun control for domestic criminals applies to foreign criminals and terrorists. Bad guys will always get hold of guns. The job of our government is to keep domestic bad guys locked up, foreign bad guys out of the country, and guns in the hands of good guys. Sadly, thus far, under this president, we’ve had a jailbreak bill to release criminals and the continuation of importing endless Middle Easterners and illegal immigrants, and our soldiers still can’t carry weapons on bases.

Once again, amid the endless soap opera of politics, conservatives must ask, do issues and actual policy results still matter? (For more from the author of “Civilian Saudi Student Arrested – as SecDef Esper Promises More Foreign Trainees” please click HERE)
